Canon BJC-6200 Printer Drivers

The Canon website only has drivers for OS 8 - 9.2 for the BJC-6200. I need the 10.4 drivers.
An article on the Apple website states: "All included printer drivers are installed by default when you install Mac OS X 10.4." When I tried installing the drivers for my Canon BJC-6200 from the hard disk, it produced an error after about 10 seconds and asked me to re-try. I did, but it failed again.
I then read this in the article: "If you would like to install any of the optional printer drivers after installing Mac OS X, insert the Install disc into your computer and use Optional Installs." I tried installing the drivers off my Mac Mini Install Disc 1, from the Optional Installs folder, but there were zero bytes in the Canon folder and the message came up with something like "There is nothing to install".
Is there any way I can get the drivers for 10.4?

Hi cwp1,
Maybe that's because you already have the driver on your mini? Did you try to add this printer and select the Canon BJC-6200 driver in the list? I have that driver on my mini and I never installed it...
How is your printer connected?
Does your mini see that printer?

  • Drivers for Canon BJC-1000 printer

I have a very old printer Canon BJC-1000. I understand that Canon do not have drivers for Mac OS and Apple is using Gimp-Print 5.0.0 beta2. However, my prints are all black and white despite I am using a colour cartridge. Is there a ny better driver?. I would like to try the latest release of drivers from this third party company: Gutenprint 5.0.0 cr2... will it work?
Any help will be much appreciated...

    "will it work?"

  • Is there a way to print using a canon bjc-85 with tiger?

i have just installed tiger and now my canon bjc-85 printer doesn't work with it.
i have read the thread discussing this problem, and i'd be very grateful uf anyone can tell me in simple language how i can overcome this apparent incompatibility?
    kind regards

the product is support on mac os tiger. you just need to download the drivers for the product. if you have the black ink tank installed it will not print until you change the cartridge type in the printer settings under the quailty and media menu.

  • Canon BJC-85 no longer works in Classic

Client has three Macs, latest an iBook G4 that came with Tiger installed. He has a Canon BJC-85 printer, which he uses to print artwork he creates with an old Broderbund app in Classic. The printer works fine on his OS 9 and 10.3 machines, but in Tiger it displays error "D203" (nonspecific system error) in conjunction with Mac error -43 (file not found).
He brought his machine to a local shop, and they managed to doink around with it such that it would print from Classic, but couldn't print in any other situation. He had them reverse it.
He's discussed his problem with AppleCare, and someone there told him that "Tiger handles printers within Classic differently from earlier OS X releases -- it tries to divert the job to the OS X driver instead." I'm not aware of anything like this, and I don't see any discussions of this issue anywhere on the web.
If this is some kind of Tiger issue with no workaround, I don't even want to get his hopes up. Can anybody shed some illumination on this?

    The client elaborates:
I read that Apple Tech Note about printing from OS 9 applications.
I can print from my several month old iBook to my BJC-85 from OS X native applications (Excel and Appleworks)
If I open a document in Broderbund "BannerMania" in Classic, go to the Chooser, select LaserWriter 8, close Chooser, File > Print, I get a message "This printer cannot print because this application is not AppleEvent aware and you have not installed Desktop Print 2.0 software."
If I open a document in "BannerMania" in Classic, go to the Chooser, select BJC-85, close Chooser, File > Print, I get a sign "BJC-85 Error number:D203 System error -42. Job canceled."
If I open a document in "BannerMania" in Classic, go to the Chooser, select BJC-80, close Chooser, File > Print, I can print the document on my BJC-85.
The driver BJC-80 is one from an old (maybe ten years) program called PowerPrint which came with a cable and a bunch of drivers for various printers to let you print to a parallel printer (BJC-80) from a Mac of that time which had a serial printer port. Subsequently I got a later version of PowerPrint which also came with a cable and a bunch of printer drivers for printing to a parallel printer (BJC-80) from a Power Book with a USB port.
What I don't understand is now that I have a BJC-85 with a USB input, why can't I print to the BJC-85 using the driver I downloaded from Canon for that printer, or using the LaserWriter8 "driver" to print to my OS X printer (BJC-85) as Apple says I ought to be able to do. I have three working Macs (an iBook, a G4 iMac running OS 10.3, and a newer iBook running OS 10.4) and I would really like to be able to use the BJC-85, as well as other printers, with any of them without pulling my hair out each time I need to switch printers.

  • Canon BJC-55 no color

I have a Canon BJC-55 printer that is currently connected to my MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.1, I can print anything in black with the gutenprint driver supplied with the installation of Leopard. However, I am unable to get it to print any colors. Does anyone have a fix for this?

It turns out that the problem was a bad ink cartridge.

  • Canon i9900 - no new drivers work to connect to Vista shared printer

I've spent 3 frustrating days trying to print to the Canon i9900 which is connected to my Vista PC and shared. On the Mac print queue it shows it is printing but on the Vista printer window, the status is SPOOLING and goes no further. Everything is correctly set on both sides, permissions, etc. I have tried every new updated driver from MAC and from Canon. The only print driver that does work is the Canon BJC-8500 but the document is 70% its regular size and the color is awful. I even installed the Snow Leopard update.
I guess that leaves me to continue printing thru Parallels/Vista for now until there's a better solution. I doubt it. Has anyone had any success sharing on a Windows network with this printer? Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated.

You have done some good research. One more thing - the driver from Canon was written to support direct USB printing only. You need a CUPS driver to use the various protocols available in the CUPS printing system in OS X. Look for CUPS drivers for your model here:
    http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/macosx
    http://www.printfab.net/
Try Gutenprint first, but your model might not be in there.

  • How to uninstall print drivers Canon MF4150 issues

Hello all, I am having a nightmare of a time getting my Canon MF4150 to print. It looks from all of the threads on here it was a less than ideal choice for a Mac owner.
When I first bought the unit I managed to get it to print, everything seemed peachy.
Problems arose when I wanted to use the unit to scan. I downloaded a variety of third party software and drivers in an attempt to get the scan function working. I had mixed results, and this process seemed to upset the printing side of things. Once I scanned a document, the printer would then not work.
I abandoned the idea of scanning through the MF4150 and have gone back to dedicated Epson scanner.
Since then I have not had any luck getting the printer to print again.
I have gone through all the MF4150 related threads on these boards I can find, and followed the process to installed outlined here - https://discussions.apple.com/message/7657893#7657893 but to no avail.
I really just want this thing to print and it's driving me nuts.
I have the printer attached directly to my MacBook Pro running 10.5.2. I'm not trying to print through the Airport.
I would like to know how to completely uninstall any UFR II drivers and related software / information and start this process from the beginning again.
So far, using the answer provided by PAHU here https://discussions.apple.com/message/7657893#7657893
    I have -
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    > DONE
    2. Select the MF4150 printer and press the minus " - " button to remove the printer. Do the same to any other printers that are in the printer list.
    > DONE
    3. Hold down the Control key and click in the empty printer list. A window showing 'Reset printing system' will display. Click this.
    > DONE
    4. Close the Print & Fax utility.
    > DONE
    5. Run the Canon UFR2 v1.70 installer and select Uninstall when the Easy Install menu appears
    > This is where I get snagged. I'm not offered a Uninstall option. I have attached a screen grab of the window I am presented with. I am currently trying the "o1141enx_m_ufr224" version of the UFR driver. I have continued to complete the points below regardless of the fact i cannot uninstall.
    6. Restart the Mac and run the v1.70 installer again to add the UFR2 files back onto your Mac
    7. Go to Applications > Utilities and open Disk Utility. Select the Mac OS X partition in the left pane and select 'Repair Disk Permissions'. When this has completed, quit Disk Utility
    8. Open Print & Fax and add the MF4270 again
    9. Open TextEdit, type some simple text and select to print.
    10. Report back if the above doesn't get you printing.
I have also attach a screen grab of the process I go through when adding the printer.
Any help with this would be amazing. I've tried everything I can think of.
My latest idea is to try and remove any trace of previous printer drivers and go from there. You can see in my list of available drivers in the file attached I now have all sorts of UFR drivers in the list.
Again, if anyone can throw me a line on this that would be great.
    Thanks & Regards
    Coz

    Hello Coz,
It's been a while since you've posted, I hope you have not given up.  I was having grief with my MF4150 as well, but got it working.  There is a more current driver - search for Mac_UFRII_V230_uk_EN and install it.
Then, when you go to add your printer through System Preferences > Print & Fax, make sure you click the "default" icon in the top of the dialog.  It should show your Canon MF 4100 series , then use the bottom drop down menu to choose your driver and select Canno MF410 Series UFRII LT (UK) from the list.

  • Canon 860 Series (Pixma) Printer Problems with OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion) – links to Canon Support Site with Drivers and Software with install tips

After spending several hours sorting out Canon Pixma OSX problems here are my thoughts:
Canon 860 Series (Pixma 868) Printer Problems with OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion) – links to Canon Support Site with Drivers and Software with install tips
    Problem:
    - New imac and MacBook Pro 2012 (OSX 10.8.2) had a problem using Canon Pixma 868 printer on network and would not scan or print using Canon Pixma software (Pixma MP Navigator 2.1 & Photo Print), which has advanced scanning and photo printing functions.
    - When I connected the canon printer to my imac, OSX 10.8.2 automatically downloaded and installed drivers for Canon 860 series printer. I could then add the new printer (select ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”) and printer would work while connected via USB but could not get to print or scan over network wifi.
    - The original Canon 860 Series CD does not work with 10.8 and the manual / online instructions did not make sense (as based on CD install).
    Solution:
    1) Install Canon Printer Drivers and Software (from official Canon site)
Go to canon support site, review FAQ, then download and install following Pixma 860 Series software & drivers for OSX 10.8 (links see below). The version I downloaded is in brackets but check for updated version. Full instructions are below.
Canon 860 Series Drivers & Software  for OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion:
The base software and drivers needed for using Canon 860 Series on Mac OS X 10.8 (USB) are
    1 Printer Driver
(Canon MX860 series CUPS Printer Driver Ver. 10.67.1.0 (03-Aug-2012))
    2 Scanner Driver
(Canon MX860 series Scanner Driver Ver. 14.11.4a (03-Aug-2012))
    3 Network Tool
(Canon IJ Network Tool Ver. 4.1.0 for Intel Mac (27-Dec-2012)
Canon Software for using advanced printing and scanning functions (while connected to network)
    4 Solution Menu
    (Canon Solution Menu Ver. 1.4.1 (27-Jul-2012 ))
    5 MP Navigator EX
(Canon MP Nav EX Ver. 2.1.3 (02-Auf-2012))
    6 Easy-PhotoPrint EX
    (Canon Easy-PhotoPrint EX Ver. 4.1.6 (21-Jan-2013 ))
Canon Support (HK) – check your local site
    http://www.canon.com.hk/en/download/main/index.do
Select Product and drivers from support site eg http://support-hk.canon-asia.com/
    1. Choose a product category
    Multifunctional Printers
    2. Choose a product series
      Pixma
    3. Choose a product model
      Pixma MX868
    4. Choose type of document
    Downloads or FAQ
If you have problems installing the software under 10.8, see the FAQ on Canon site. You will need to allow software installs from “unidentified developers by using “Control” Key or by changing your system preferences)
    2) Check Canon Printer and Software Working while connected via USB
Once you have downloaded and installed drivers and software and restarted computer, check that the printer and Canon Pixma software (Pixma MP Navigator 2.1 & Photo Print) are working via USB.  Open the Canon IJ Network Tool App (Applications / Canon Utilities /IJ Network Tool / Canon IJ Network Tool App) and make sure you can see the Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) and that it shows the correct SSID Wifi settings (under the Canon IJ Network Tool App ‘Setup menu’).  This is normally done as part of the automatic install but worth double checking
    3) Add new network printer using ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”).
After you have checked USB printing turn off printer, unplug the USB cable and shutdown the Canon IJ Network Tool App.
Then turn the printer back on and wait 30s. Then add a new printer using ‘apple menu’ / ‘system preferences’ / ‘print and scan’ / “+”). Once you select “+” (add new printer), wait 10-30s for the Wifi Networked Canon MX 860 Series printer to appear in the new window eg Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) (Kind: “Canon IJ Network”)
DO NOT ADD THE MX 860 SERIES BONJOUR SCANNER (the Bonjour Scanner is the built-in software, is not needed and often appears first on the add printer list).  The Canon scanner can be accessed used through the MP Nav EX Ver. 2.1.3 software (which has much better functions)
You will now have two Printer Canon MX860 (USB) and Canon MX860 (Wifi / Network). Set the Canon MX860 (Wifi / Network) as default and test print and scan
If the Wifi Networked Canon MX 860 Series printer does not appear, check the printer and make sure that the printer can see the wifi network. On the printer select Menu / Settings / Device Settings / Lan Settings / WLAN Setting List.  It should say WLAN Active, identify the SSID and have an IP address
If the printer can not see the Wifi Network, plug the USB cable back in, then open the Canon IJ Network Tool App (Applications / Canon Utilities /IJ Network Tool / Canon IJ Network Tool App). Make sure you can see the Canon MX 860 series (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx) and that it has your SSID settings (under setup), if it has this info, restart the computer and the printer and try again

  • Please HELP me install my Canon ip4300 printer drivers

    Hi,
I just bought a Canon ip 4300 printer and I can’t get my computer
    (ibook G4 14 in 1.0GHz) to install/recognize the driver.
I tried the installation CD, and downloading the latest driver from Canon.
    But no luck.
When I go to the Printer Set Up Utility and try to add the printer, the computer can find the printer over the usb cable. But when I select it, it can't auto find the driver. It just gives me a selection of outdated Canon gimp print drivers.
I called Canon and they walked me through installing the drivers in the root user account... but that didn't do anything either. They said I would have to call Apple -- that it was likely something to do with permissions???
Since I don't have any Apple support left, I came here.
Please, if anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them.
    Thanks.
    ibook G4 14 in 1.0GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Start by repairing permissions (Disk Utility).

Have got a MG3150 printer from Canon. which is in the supported list. I tried to add the new printer and get the message "can't install the software for the Canon MG3100 series becuase it is not currently available from the Software Update Server.
It says this,  in spite of giving me a message that they are available  when I attach the printer via USB. This does kick off an attempt to  to seek printer updates.
