Canon cameras not recognised in iPhoto 11

Hi, since upgrading to iPhoto 11 my canon cameras (Powershot A3000 and eos 350D) are not recognised. The eos shows 'busy' on the screen but does not show up in iPhoto, and the powershot does nothing. The cameras are not showing in System Profiler of Image Capture either, and do not mount onto the desktop (they have never done that).
I have checked the firmware of the eos and it looks as if it has the latest version.
Does anyone have any ideas what to do next?
Many thanks
Lisa

I've been away on holiday so it's been a while since I've bothered to try & sort this... however, today I looked through the related software updates for Canon EOS 350D (http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010192.asp) and downloaded 2 updates just for the **** of it (http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0039362.asp?model= and http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0039378.asp?model=) and I'm guessing one of them resolved the issue, because when I connected up my camera and switched it on, iPhoto swung into action and there was my camera!
Yippee!! Normal service has been resumed!

  • Video content on Canon camera not recognised - can"t import

Hi, I can't see this problem has been posed recently but I am unable to import video content from my Canon 5D Mk11 camera into iMovie. When I connect the camera to my Mac Appeture opens (which is set as default) and enables me to import the stills on the camera. However, when I open iMovie and click on the import from camera icon all I get is the default of the iSight camera. I have previously imported from this camera but can't recall doing it since I upgraded to Snow Leapard. Can anyone offer any advice? Many thanks.

If you get no better suggestions, keep uploading your Canon still files into Aperture, but try uploading its videos to your Mac's iPhoto. You can import videos into iMovie from iPhoto.

  • Canon scanner not recognised after Mac wakes up.

    Hi
I have been using a Canon LIDE 60 scanner since I bought my eMac 4 or so years ago. It's always worked fine.
But since upgrading to Leopard a few months ago I've been having trouble with it.
What happens is that after the Mac goes into deep sleep mode (it's set to have the hard drive sleep too) and the scanner is not recognised after the computer wakes up.
I get an error message when I open up a TWAIN program (CanoScan Toolbox or Image Capture) saying that there is no scanner available.
Sometimes, usually actually, if I disconnect the USB cable and then re-attach it the scanner becomes available again. But sometimes not.
I have what I believe to be the most recent driver for this scanner, dl'd recently from Canon's web site. First I uninstalled the old driver and then restaterd my eMac before installing the new driver.
I'm using whatever version of Image Capture came with Mac OS and I'm using CanoScan Toolbox version 4.9.3.4 (version 5.0 does not work at all).
Any way to get this to stop happening?

  • Plug-in for Canon iPF8400 not recognised in Photoshop CC 2014. Lost Topaz and Nik Software as well.

I have just updated to Photoshop CC 2014 and lost the plug-ins for Canon iPF8400 printer, Topaz Labs, and Nik Software. I had been asked if I wanted to migrate plug-ins and said yes. I have dropped the plug-ins into the Photoshop plug in folder but they are note being recognised.

Similar problems here with Topaz Labs plug-ins.
Unfortunately I have now uninstalled Photoshop CC so the option of copying them into Photoshop CC 2014 is no longer viable and Photoshop CC 2014 simply does not recognise them.
Waiting for response from Topaz labs

  • Dv camera not recognised pe10

hi cant get my panasonic nv-dx110 recognised by premier elements 10. my sony dcr-tr7000e has no problems. it has full remote etc. but the pano is not recognised at all, i have tried refreshing the device listings in the registry, but to no avalil!!
    using w7 64 bit

According to this SITE, your Panny should work just fine.
    However, there can be issues:
FW cable - but if it works with your Sony, it should be fine.
FW connector on the computer - but if it works with your Sony, it should be fine.
FW controller, either on the MoBo, or a FW card - but if it works with your Sony, it should be fine.
FW connector on your Panny - try it on another computer, or with other Capture software to test.
The order that you are turning on PrE's Capture module, or the camera. See below).
Plug in the camera, turn it on, and set to the necessary Mode, such as VCR (do not know that camera) launch PrE and select theand test.
Plug in the camera, launch PrE, then choose Capture, turn on camera, and select Mode.
    Variations on above.
Some cameras need things done is a certain order, and that order can make a major difference. When you find the right combo, make note of it.
    Good luck,

  • Iphone not recognised by iPhoto

I am running IOS 6 on my iPhone 3GS nd wanted to import photos from my phone into iphoto.
however when i do so iphoto does not recognise the phone. It comes up in the sidebar that it is there but has no name
or images. I'm also running mountain lion if that helps.

First try this:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that doesn't help  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Connect the iPhone and see if it is recognized in the new library.  If it is than you're current library is the culprit.
If your library is the culprit do the following:   make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Camera not recognised Premiere Elements - Vista

Just moved to Vista (new PC) and find that when trying to use Adobe Premiere Elements 4 my Sony dcr-pc110e digital handycam is not recognised! This is strange as if I connect my camera (via firewire)and turn it on it automatically starts Premiere...also sometimes it will start the camera running (you leave it in pause mode) but not actually capture any footage. I must have a setting wrong somewhere but I can't see what...the firewire card and camera are recpgnised by windows and do not report any problems...in Premiere itself it says no device detected and device offline..!looked on the adobe site and have been through their solutions but as I said all seems ok in this area...Works perfectly on my wife's XP machine. Tried turning off firewalls etc...no joy...Any assistance gratefully received.
    Al

    Hi Al & others
I also moved to a new notebook & VISTA around May.
I haven't done any editing for months now.
We bought Pr.El4 so that it would work with Vista.
I by chance also have a SONY PC110E. When I plug it in & press play on the camera it doesn't even start-up Pr.El. Then if I start up Pr.El separately it doesn't see that there is a camera attached.
So my problem seems a bit different to yours but your issue doesn't bode well for helping me.
Do I need to do something to tell Pr.El that the camera is there. I did the set-up for my camera & Pr.El2 on my old computer so long ago that I can't remember if anything is required
If you get any advice from Adobe please let me know
    Thanks

  • Camera Raw and Canon S95 Not Recognised

    Hi,
I have bought the extremely expensive Photoshop CS5 in summer and I have been waiting Camera Raw opens Raw files shooted with my compact camera Canon Powershot S95 (on the market since August).
Can you please fix the problem or should I wait till the next model of compact camera?
    Thank you

Note that there is a Camera Raw 6.3 beta copy available.  I don't know whether it understands your camera.
You might have better luck posting this question in the Camera Raw forum, if you have not already done so:  http://forums.adobe.com/community/cameraraw

  • Digital camera not recognised on iMac

    Hi
Yesterday I connected my canon digital ixus camera to my iMac and copied over some photos, via usb, no problem. Today I am trying to do exactly the same but the camera is not seen at all. Nothing has changed, and I have used the same procedure as per many times before (plug it in and get on with it!), Indeed troubleshooting so far:
    No new software loaded
Camera has been reset to factory settings
CF card is fine as seen through a card reader
USB cable fine as used with different device
Other external hard drive recognized as soon as plugged in
CF card formatted, and only one photo on it so no "time" issues loading over images.
    Camera battery fully charged.
Frustrating (as would rather just be able to plug in camera and avoid card reader) and wondering if anyone else has had any issues with digital cameras (canon in particular) not being seen on Imac, anyone have any ideas or thoughts? Have I missed something glaringly obvious today?!!
    Much appreciated i

    Hi ynot704
Check iPhoto to see if the Canon's image shows up there. All of our other camera's (Olympus & Kodak) mount on the desktop plus open iPhoto. Our Canon opens, shows up and download to iPhoto just fine, but does not mount an image on the desktop or show up in disk utility.
It's not the iMac, look at this Google Search: [canon not mounting on imac desktop|http://www.google.com/custom?q=canon+not%20mounting%20on%20imac%20deskt op&sa=Search&client=pub-6263300333013957&forid=1&ie=ISO-8859-1&oe=ISO-8859-1&cof =GALT:%23008000;GL:1;DIV:%23336699;VLC:663399;AH:center;BGC:FFFFFF;LBGC:336699;A LC:0000FF;LC:0000FF;T:000000;GFNT:0000FF;GIMP:0000FF;FORID:1;&hl=en]

  • Camera not recognised

I have a JVC Model GZ-MG27-E Video camera with USB 2.0 output (no fire-wire)
This camera type is not on the list of recognised cameras for Final Cut Express HD
    1) Is there a software patch available that will enable it to be recognised?
    2) Does Final Cut Express HD only work with a Fire-wire interface?
    3) Am I stuck with incompatable hardware and software?

The Apple list of qualified devices is not comprehensive, never has been, never will be. Nearly any miniDV camera with FW will work with FCE, with some you might not have device control but you can still capture & print to tape.
FCE works with DV video via FW. Those are the two key specs to look for - DV and FireWire. MPEG-2 and FW don't make it, you'd still have to use one of the techniques I mentioned earlier.
Are you sure the model 37E supports DV and FW ? The spec sheet doesn't mention them, only MPEG-2 and USB, just like the 27E.

  • PLEASE VERIFY: movies from canon cameras crash quicktime, finder, iPhoto!!

Hi, I just wanted to see if anyone else out there can duplicate this problem. I have tested this now on two different macbooks and one macbook pro with the same result. When dumping movies recorded off canon digital cameras, quicktime is unable to play them and immediately crashes without warning. I have tested this in many different cases. Even using image capture to pull the movies off works fine, but if you "preview" the movie using the column view in finder, or even using get-info, causes the finder to instantly reboot. I have tested this with the following cameras all with the same result:
    - Canon Powershot SD200
    - Canon Powershot A85
    - Canon Powershot A70
For all you macbook owners out there, here is a small sample movie that I recorded a few minutes ago from a powershot A70. This movie plays fine on every PowerPC based mac I have tested, but as of yet, no Intel mac will play it. Let me know what you guys find! Also, if you click on this movie and safari gives you the "quicktime with question mark" then try ctrl-clicking and doing "download linked file" and then play it in the finder. You'll see. It'll crash

White Macbook 2.0Ghz, 2GB ram, superdrive   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

It played fine on my MacBook as well.
You might create a new user on your MacBook using the Accounts System Preferences. Log out and log in as the new user. Import your movie into the new user's account. Does the movie make the Finder crash as well? If so, you have a system-wide problem. If not, then your user has a preference or setting problem.

  • Sony digital camera not working with iphoto

My Sony Cybershot DSC-P100 used to work perfectly with iphoto (version 4.0.3) until my husband plugged it into a PC and downloaded photos. Now iphoto will not import my photos saying they are "invalid format." The cybershot icon appears on the Desktop, but when I try to import it gets "stuck" (beachball and I "force quit") or gives the "invalid" warning. I plan to upgrade my system next year, but need to load photos now. I have 2700 photos on iphoto. I've read that I need to create a "backup" file, but am unsure how to do that either. Photos are family memories, personal use, and (obviously) not professional.
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Cluless,
    welcome to the discussion....
you can try to do a manual upload/transfer...
You have to quit iPhoto before doing this.
1- create an empty folder on the desktop.
2-in the cybershot icon on the desktop, penetrate to the proper level where your pics are.
3-Select all pics (with .jpg extensions) from the cybershot folder and drag into the empty folder onto desktop.
Once all items have been copied from the cybershot
4- disconect the camera, and launch iPhoto, then drag the empty folder onto iPhoto window and they should all import into the iP Library.
side note: name the folder (say July 10th) prior to dragging over iPhoto.
It can be done 2 ways. :
1- if you drag over the pictures area, the pics will be imported to iP, and the Film roll name will become July 10th.
    OR
2-you could drag the Folder- July 10th- over the album section at left of iPhoto window. This way the pic will be imported, as well as an album will be created named july 10th, and same for the film roll will also be July 10th.
Step #2 accomplishes more in one step.
    Backup file
creating a backup file is as easy as copying the entire iP library onto another HD. Not sure what kind of backup system you have. But if you can afford it, and like you said its family memories, get an external HD for $60 or so and it is easier than having to backup to CD or DVD, and having to toss them away when creating a newer backup.... if you need help with this one write back!
P.s. Do not venture inside the iPlibrary and move ANYTHING out of there....... otherwise you will corrupt you library...and iPhoto will not be able to open it anymore!

    Guys,
    I have  Macbook Air 11" 2012 model.
I wanted to make a snapshot of something using photo booth but I got the message that no camera was attached. When I tried facetime, it said the same thing. Is it possible that there is some hidden setting soemwhere that secretly got switched so I cannot use the camera or is my laptop simply broken?

Your post has landed in the 10.5 Leopard SERVER forums. You have not specified what Server set-up you are using or how your printer is connected to the Server.
If you are not running Mac OS X SERVER, you may want to re-post in the Mac OS X forum for your version of Mac OS X, which would be 10.6 Snow Leopard, If I am reading you correctly.
