Canon CanoScan 3200F

My scanner was working fine on 10.4.4 went to 10.4.6 and it no longer works, the hardware works fine on my friends PC. Contacted Canon, and there answer is "Due to the increased frequeny of OS X upgardes Canon can no longer gaurantee their products will work" Has anyone mamaged to get said itme to work? If not? can anyone recommend a scanner that does work with 10.4.6?

I have just installed my old CanoScan 3200F on my MPB already running 10.4.6 and it is okay, so at least we know that it will work with 10.4.6. I would suspect in your case the update has probably done something to one of the files. Looking at the Installer Log there is a lot of files that are added so I think the best thing to do is run the two installer apps again (ScanGear CS Installer and CanoScan Toolbox Installer v4.5E) but choose Uninstall rather than Basic Install from the menu.
Once both Uninstalls are complete, restart the Mac and then try adding the apps again.

CanoScan 3200F and Snow Leopard?

Is the Canon CanoScan 3200F compatible wit 10.6.8? I tried using Image Capture and it doesn't even detect the scanner.

According to the Canon site it's compatible with 10.6 > Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : CanoScan 3200F
If you have not done so, download and install the drivers.

What is the most advanced Mac OS that a Canon LiDe 500F will support? How about a CanoScan 3200F?

I don't use scanners a great deal 1-2 times a year so things get ahead of me sometimes. These two scanners (Canon LiDe 500F + CanoScan 3200F) are virtually new and neither will work.
I have 3 computers - I would like either of these scanners to work and any of these machines.
#1 iMac PPC G5 running OS X 10.5.8
#2 iMac 2GHz Intel Core Duo running OS X 10.6.8
#3 MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo running OS X 10.9.5 (this is now a 64 bit machine) Early 2008 4,1 model A1260
I've tried the recommended software from Canon with 0 results
I've downloaded newer Canon software from the same family of machines with 0 results
I've posted in Apple forums and anywhere else I can think of with 0 results.
A point in the correct direction would be greatly appreciated.
This is a Canon family, Canon Printers, EOS cameras, Copiers at work - I enjoy the way Canon does things and can't imagine I've been left behind with 2 nearly new (almost NOS) machines.

64-bit Twain driver for Canon Canoscan 8800F

The twain driver for my Canon Canoscan 8800F doesn’t show under File-->Import in Photshop Elements 13. In Photshop Elements 10 this was not a problem. I have searched on
the internet and the instructions I found only applies to older version of Photshop Elements.
What should I do? I use a PC with Windows 8.1 64-bit.

Canon CanoScan Lide25 and PS CS4

Back when I had Photoshop CS3 installed, my Canon CanoScan Lide25 USB scanner appeared in the File... Import... Canon Scanner. But with my recent upgrade to CS4, it's no longer there, and I have to scan using the horible Canon software on my OSX 10.6.2 system.
When I was using CS3, I don't recall doing anything special to get Photoshop to recognize the scanner; it was just in the File... Import... menu. I have the latest Canon driver/software installed, and I even installed it after I installed Photoshop (if that matters). But still, there's no scanner import in CS4.
Any idea why this is, and how I can get it back in the File... menu?

I use the ScanGear CS driver for my CanoScan CS440F.
It's a few steps up from an LiDe model, but like you, I was unable to use the Import menu to scan until I visited Canon's website and reinstalled the ScanGear driver.
I had an LiDe 20 and an LiDe 30 with CS, CS2, and CS3. I never had a problem with either of them in any version. Maybe I'm just lucky I guess.
If it weren't for about 1600 slides I inherited and needed to preserve digitally, I never would have gotten rid of the other two, but the CS4400 scans slides and they didn't.

Can't get Canon CanoScan LiDE30 to work with Macbook OS 10.4.11

Hi, can't seem to install driver for my old Canon CanoScan LiDE30. The disk that comes with the scanner doesn't work. I've tried downloading the appropriate driver from the Canon website but I must be missing something - altho I get a message saying driver was installed, when I re=start my Mac I don't see the download anywhere and the scanner won't even start up when it is plugged in. Suggestions?

I loaded Mountain Lion and now my Canon Canoscan LIDE100 Scanner won't work. I reloaded the application, checked the driver & loaded the Canon driver for Mountain Lion. Aplication starts to load then hangs up on 80% complete. Any suggestions?

Might have a hardware issue that was caused by the minor liquid spill.
Take it to Apple to have them look at it. I think they do a free diagnostics. That way you can find out what's wrong with your MB.

Getting Canon CanoScan Lide 20 to work with 10.4.10 and 10.4.11

When I upgraded to the latest version of Tiger 10.4.10 and .11 ... My Canon Lide 20 which had been working perfectly for years just stopped working. I tried to download the latest driver from canon but kept getting errors. After several different attempts I found this posting on version tracker did what it said and it worked!

For Macintosh OSX users (including intel Macintosh computers) who have problems installing Canon scanner software, including older models. Please try the following steps to successfully install your scanner driver software:
Short Fix:
1. Use the "Deldrv" program to remove previously unsuccessfully installed driver(s). The "Deldrv" uninstaller can be found on the Canon website at the bottom of the Canon scanner driver pop up window that you access to get the drivers for your scanner.
2. Use the "Find?" under the File menu (command-F) or use Spotlight (command spacebar) to find the folder "CFMSupport". Select this folder (don't open it), and use the 'Get info' command in the File menu (command-I) to open information about the Ownership and Permissions of the folder. Click on the arrow beside 'Ownership and Permissions' so it points downwards, then click on the arrow beside 'Details' so you can see the details. Click on the padlock icon so it is unlocked. Then set owner to your user name, set the Group to admin, and set access for all users to Read & Write.
3. Reinstall the CanoScan Toolbox first, then the scanner drivers from the Canon website or your CD, restart your computer."
Uninstalling I think made all the difference. I hadn't done that before. Thanks to Robert Loney for this. I was about to purchase VueScan which also worked... but he saved me $49 buckswhich is more than I paid for the Lide 20 5 years ago.
I also lost my external hard drivers when I upgraded to 10.4.10. never fixed that problem... just went and returned my Western digital Mybooks (both premium and pro additions) (I had been dealing with customer service and returning the ones they kept shipping me for months). I got a Maxtor 750 GB one from Circuit city and it has worked like a charm! I wonder if there was something I needed to uninstall to get that to work as well.
I hope this is helpful to everyone else out there.

To add to Ryan's posting, anyone in the UK/Europe may need to access the Canon US website (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDet ailTabAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=6624) to obtain the latest version of the scangear driver 7.0.1.1X and Canoscan software 4.1.3.0. Judging by their file dates these versions appear to have been released in 2007. The Canon Europe site has the older version 7.0.1.0 of the driver.
The tips should may also apply to the LIDE 30 and N670 and other scanners which appear to use the same software.
On my system the permissions on the CFMsupport folder allowed update of the software without changes so you may also find that updating the drivers to these versions is sufficient, and you don't need to bother with the permissions changes.
I have experienced problems with the scan gear software not setting the folder to receive the images correctly. At one point in the scan process - after clicking the scan button - it offered an open file dialogue box rather than a choose folder dialogue. I found that if selected any file in the folder and clicked open the problem seemed to go away.

Image capture stucks when using Canon CanoScan LiDE60 scanner

Hi,
I tried to use Image capture to get an image from a book. I chose the following options :
600 dpi
Text
Save in : Desktop
File type : PNG
I started the scan, it scanned. But instead of putting a file on the Desktop and show it with the Preview application, it stucks there indefinitely. I have to close it down, but afterwards, the scanner does not scan anymore. It only works again by restarting the system.
Can someone have a clue of what's going on?

Hi there,
The CanoScan toolbox application lets you set which application you use to scan a document and where to save a scanned document. If you haven't configured this, it will be impacting the operation of the scanner. Open the application and I would suggest you set Preview to be your scanning application instead of Image Capture. If you want to save to the desktop this is where you can set this also.

Mavericks / Canon Canoscan 8800F: Hardware Buttons not working.

I've just upgraded to Mavericks. I've also updated the driver (to 13.9.2a) and installed the latest MP Navigator 1.0 (1.0.7). Is there something else I need to do?
I'm having two problems since the upgrade:
- The hardware buttons on the scanner cover have stopped working
- I'm unable to add the scanner in the System Preferences: Printers and Scanners dialog, because it's not listed as one of the available devices.
However:
- MP Navigator as well as TWAIN - compatible applications (e.g. Adobe Acrobat Pro) are working properly: they are able to see and use the 8800F (even though it's not listed as an available scanner in System Preferences)
Further explanation: The row of hardware buttons on the scanner's cover have stopped working since the upgrade to Mavericks. For example
- The "Copy" button is supposed to launch MP Navigator, scan the document on the glass and print the document.
- "Email" is supposed to scan the document, open a new message in "Mail" and insert the document as an attachment
- There are also several "PDF" buttons that are supposed to scan to a PDF document and do various things with it..
These buttons worked in previous MacOS versions, but none of them do anything since I've installed Mavericks.
Also, in the System Preferences: Printers and Scanners window: I thought I'd try deleting and re-adding the 8800F there to see if that might clear up the buttons problem. I deleted it, but am unable to add it back because it is not listed as one of the available devices. So then I checked the "System Report" under "About this Mac," and found that Canoscan is listed there as one of the USB devices.

Responding to my own post: I've learned that the problem is in the ICA driver for this device, and we're waiting for an update to that to resolve this problem.

I want a new flatbed scanner. This one is compact, draws all its power from the USB cable and can work on its side. Resolution etc. looks fine for my needs.

I purchased a Canoscan D1250 U2F (similar to the current 4200F but only 1200 ppi) in March of 2003 and it has been rock solid across 2 platforms ever since. At the time my choice was between it and one of the early LIDE models getting rave reviews. I did not choose the LIDE because it did not have a film/slide capability and the family has a lot of history on 35 mm. If you don't need that I think you'll be pleased with your choice.

Canon stopped supporting Canoscan 9950F on Apple, but still on Windows 8. What can I do to fix this?

Upon upgrading to the latest Apple release, my Canon Canoscan 9950F no longer works. After dialoging with the Canon representatives, the offered me a "discounted price" on new hardware. They support Windows 8, but decided not to support Mountain Lion. What can I do? I have a $400 dollar paper-weight that I don't want to send to the landfill.

Since you purchased Lion at some point, I wonder if the most cost effective move would be to spend under $100 for a new USB3 external drive, and install Lion and your 9950F scanner drivers there. Boot external when you want to scan. Drive visible to Mountain Lion desktop for shared files. The USB3 drive is backwards compatible with USB2. Western Digital has some portable Mac drives here. The 1TB is $99 at Best Buy in the U.S.
If you still have a machine running Lion, you can boot into Recovery and have it install onto the new USB3 external drive. Otherwise, it is another Lion download. Do not run the installer. Then you let Lion Diskmaker build you an external, bootable USB Lion installer stick.

Canoscan Problem

When I scan graphic documents, a wide, transparent line appears within the scanned document, but this radomly placed line does not appear when photographs are scanned. For example, I have uploaded an image of a map with this posting. This map illustrates a wide vertical line to the left center area of the scanned page. It's important to note that this line "does not" appear on the original paper version of this image.
As such, I don't know why this wide, transparent line appears within various scanned images.
Thanks for any tips on how to eliminate this wide, transparent line during the scanning process.

I found the solution to my problem: the macbook was able to "see" the canoscan 3200f and I was able to successfully scan an image with this combination of software.
Install the most recent version of the canon scangear driver from canon's web site without scanner attached.
Restart with scanner attached.
Open Vuescan software and use.
I could not get the 3200f to work using Cannon's toolbox software, maybe if I fiddled around with some more ... but instead I think I'll just buy the Vuescan software and use it.
