Canon D420 only prints after print job is sent twice

My Canon D420 won't print when you send it a print job the first time. It only responds after you send the job a 2nd time. This is really annoying and I can't seem to find a fix or people with similar problems. The D420 is connected to the USB printer port on a wireless router. All the drivers are installed correclty. There is no problem with my network.

Hello horn34,
First, we apologize for any recent inconvenience with the website due to technical difficulties experienced.
With regard to your issue, I apologize for any confusion caused; the information previously reference would not apply if you are not attempting to print wirelessly.
There are a few possible causes of the issue which can be hardware or software-related.  To help narrow the cause, please attempt to print with a direct USB cable connection between your laser product and a USB port on your computer.  This will help to confirm if the hardware and port on your laser product are functioning properly, or if the issue remains.   If successful in printing on the first attempt, the issue would relate to the connection or communication through the router.
If unsuccessful in printing with a direct connection, it is recommended to uninstall the current drivers, then download and install the latest drivers from the Canon website here. Click the "Driver/Software Details" for the selected driver to review the installation instructions.  Note:  Please disconnect the USB cable before reinstalling, then connect it after the installation is complete.  Perform a direct connection test again for a status check.
For instructions on uninstalling the driver for your operating system, click here; then type in "uninstall driver" to retrieve the Article of the same name.
Should the issue remain, please feel free to Contact Us and we'll be glad to help.

    Is the first page blank of just missing entirely?
    What program are you printing from?  Does the same thing happen if you print from Notepad or Wordpad?  (If not then check the settings in your program to make sure you are sepcifying then entire page range desired for printing).

  • Canon MX 850 "Print job manager failed"

    After recently upgrading to Snow Leopard (0S 10.6.8) my Canon MX 850 Wireless Printer has quit working.  After every attempt to print I get the message:
    Error: System/Library/Printers/Libraries/PrintJobMgr/Contents/MacOS/PrintJobMgr failed
    I really need to get this fixed.  Please help!

    Pahu's response to "Canon MX860: Cannot Print from WiFi because of System/library Error" solved my problem completely.  So give him 10 points from me too!

  • Print job disappears almost immediately

    This behavior started in LR2. Thinking back it may be related to OSX upgrade to Snow Leopard. After I hit print, the print job is sent to the printer and almost immediately “disappears” like nothing was sent. I have also gotten an error message of “/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS/rasterto escpll failed”. This only occurs in Lightroom. My workaround is to take the image into Photoshop and print from there. This happens with both of my Epson printers and also with an HP LaserJet, so I think it is a LR problem and not an Epson problem. All drivers for all printers updated to latest available for Snow Leopard. The behavior continued with LR3. Fixed itself for awhile, then in the middle of printing a series of prints, started again. I cannot print from within LR at all. MacBook Pro 2.16 core 2 duo, OSX 10.6.4, LR3, Photoshop CS3.
    Through google searches I found the “rastertoescpll failed” issues reported after Snow Leopard, but they were related to Epson printers, and not just LR related and fixed with driver updates. This has not worked for me.
    I really like the LR print module and any help would be appreciated.

    I realise this is well after your first message - but I am having the same problem now printing from my Mac OS X (Mountain Lion) through Photoshop to my Epson R1900. The print job appears then quickly disappears... Did you manage to solve this problem? I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything...

  • Unable to specify printer for print jobs in Java7 for OSX

    Hi, I'm developing a simple software that would monitor a folder for new documents and print them automatically. Monitoring the folder was the easy part with WatchService in Java7, but I'm running into problems with printing. Namely, I'm using java.awt.print.PrinterJob to print the document, but the print job is always sent to the default printer, instead of the printer that was specified.
    PrinterJob pPrinterJob = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
    PrintService[] psArr = PrinterJob.lookupPrintServices();
    for (PrintService ps : psArr) {
    if (ps.getName().equalsIgnoreCase(specifiedPrinterName)) {
    pPrinterJob.setPrintService(ps);
    break;
    PrintRequestAttributeSet pras = new HashPrintRequestAttributeSet();
    //specify print attributes....
    pPrinterJob.print(pras);
    The code looks simple enough, and calling getPrinterService() returns the intended printer after specifying it using setPrinterService(). However, regardless of the printer specified, the print job is still sent to the default printer. Tried on both Java 7 Update 4 and Update 6 for OSX with the same result.
    Update: Got my hands on a Win XP machine and tried out the same piece of code using Java 7 Update 6 for Windows. Guess what, the print job was sent to the specified printer! I'm pretty sure this is an OSX specific issue now. Has anyone come across this issue previously?

    Hi,
    I have the exact same problem on OS X 10.8.2 with Java 1.7.0 Update 21.
    When I call PrintServiceLookup.lookupPrintServices(null, null) I get three distinct printers, but no matter which of the three I specify, the print job is sent to the default printer.
    The code works as expected when tested on Windows and Linux machines.
    Any help is appreciated!

  • Print jobs hung up in print queue and blocks further printing

    I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500A and an IMAC running OS10.9.5.  Whenever I print something, it (if it is the only print job) prints; however, it doesn't get deleted from the queu.  Therefore, all subsequent print jobs get held up in the queue and I have to go in and manually delete the completed job so the others can print.  If more than one job in the print queue, I have to continually go in and delete each printed job.
    Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

    Thanks Jamieson.  I really appreciate your assistance.  I uninstalled the printer software per suggestion #1 and then re-entered my printer and all seems to be working fine now.

  • HP Officejet 6500 E709n hesitates on last page of print job

    When I send a print job to my printer, the last page hesitates approximately one minute before it completes.  If there is only one page, this page hesitates.  I am connected to it wirelessly.  This does not occur when I send a print job from my laptop.

    According the HP web site, it was supposed to be "Pro's" and "Experts" answering our questions.  If there are too few to handle the volume, it should have not been advertised like that.  In the real world, that's called false advertising.  The answer provided by the "Student" was too much of "canned' answer.  I've read that in several posts.  However, this does not solve the problem with my printer.
    I want to know why my printer does what it does when a print job is sent from my desktop, but not from my laptop.
    OK, a couple of things:  this forum is a user to user forum where folks try to help out other folks (and some appreciate that). The "expert" designation next to some names recognizes folks who have demonstrated some degree of expertise, but these folks do not work for HP and are not paid to be here - they are volunteers.  The "pro" designation is given to the experts who happen to work for HP.  In some cases, such as an HP employee who just signed up for the forum the day before Expert Days the "pro" label may not have been applied.
    For your actual technical issue is may be best if you would please read this post then provide some details.  You made no mention in your first post of a laptop machine on the same network that does not have the issue.  You also have not mentioned what operating systems are on either computer, or what kind of networking you have.  Providing adequate details may get you better answers, but if you choose to only listen to folks with a particular title next their name you will limit the number of folks who will bother to answer you.

  • Printer Queue - How can I hide print job title and username?

    Hi,
    Does anyone know if it is possible to hide print job title and username in the printerqueue?
    Because of our privacy agreement we would like to hide this information,
    Workstation OS: Windows 7 x64
    Printserver : MS 2008 R2
    Thanks in advance
    Mark

    Not the user name but the job name is changed to Print Document when the print jobs are sent to Server 2012 and 2012R2.
    There is no Windows feature like this in 2008R2.  There are third party products that include job rename features for 2008R2

  • How to set  the CR print job name that displayed in Printer job queue?

    As following image shows, when I press the Print button in Crystal Report Preview GUI,
    a print job is sent to Windows Printer Spool.
    [Windows Printer queue dialog snapshot|http://www.box.net/shared/96vq4qa2mp]
    The "Document Name" in the dialog is like "Crystal Reports - temp_214d9d11-a73f-4872-81f6-b8a63bf0a6b9.rpt".
    I want to know which property of Crystal Reports can be used to set the print job name to a more meaningful one.

    The solution in this thread is for VS .NET as this is the forum for CR in .NET.
    With Foxpro, I suspect you want to create a new thread in the SAP Crystal Reports - Legacy SDKs forum.
    Make sure you specify the exact version of CR used.

  • Cannot cancel print jobs from queue in Windows

    We have some print jobs we sent to the Bonjour printer when we were off network, they still show in the windows queue, but we cannot cancel them, any suggestions?
    Matt

    Short of removing Bonjour, then reloading it, not much. Presuming you're using Windows, have you tried deleting them, then turning off the computer, then turning it back on? Sometimes that does it.

  • Canon MP 600 Printer not working after Leopard Install

    I installed the Leopard OS and now my Canon MP 600 printer that purchased at the MAC store with my Mac in Aug of this year. It was working properly prior to the Leopard install. I tried re-installing the printer drivers, but no change. I can see my MP 600 as the only printer available. I am also unable to even print a 'test' page. When I run the Network Diagnostics everything is fine, but no printing.
    Any suggestions?

    I tried this. I also tried updating the CUPS config file as was noted elsewhere. The printer is a total no-show on Leopard.
    It is being served by an older G4 whose only job is to serve the printer.
    On Tiger it would just *be there* to print to. All the Panther computers see it as a "shared printer" in the printer box.
    In Leopard.... not a &^^&% thing.
    Not happy.

    Are you using a gimp driver? I had the same issue and gimp was the cause. I went to the Canon website and found the driver I needed. After the install and restart all was well. In fact, when I opened Print Utility, I saw that the system had already defaulted to the new Canon driver. Here's the Canon link...

  • My Canon i560x printer stops in the middle of print jobs

    My Canon i560x printer stops in the middle of print jobs when printing via Airport Extreme. Single-page jobs are fine, but the printer sort of runs out of steam on when printing multiple pages. It simply stalls with a flashing warning light, and if I press the resume button it spits the sheet out. The job remains in the queue until I delete it.
    This only happens when printing via the base station. If I connect the printer directly, it happily churns away, printing as many pages as I like.
    Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

    For the record, though, I did actually do the search, ...
    OK, I let you off
    And it's not a Canon- or Tiger-specific
    problem, as I've also had similar problems with
    different versions of OS X, including Jaguar and
    Panther, and also with some HP printers.
    Now that is strange indeed. My Canon Pixma 5200 stopped working correctly the minute I upgraded to Tiger. Now I got the 5200R and it works beautifully.
    You've probably done all this already, still a few random thoughts:
    - Got the current Printer driver ?
    - Use Airport Express firmware 5.5.1 (*do not* use 5.6 or 5.7!)
    - Make a hard reset of the Airport base
    - Disable the Mac firewall (and set up the printer again)
    - Try all this with another (temporally) user account
    - Repair permission + restart before and after installing drivers
    Good Luck and let us know if (and how) you solved the problem.

  • Canon C7055 Delete Secure Print Job

    Hi All,
    I have an issue with a Canon C7055 in my company.
    Last week we have "configured" Secure printing on every printer in the company.
    Secure printing is working fine but as a normal user I can delete print jobs.
    Could someone explain why this is possible?
    I thought only an administrator could delete secure print jobs without password.
    Is this a setting I can adjust?
    Thank you in advance.
    Jelle

    I figured it out! I'm not sure if it will work for you but it did for me.
    I went to the Canon website and then went to the support section. I then selected the Canon i960 Printer and attempted to download the most up to date printer driver. However, I had a problem. When I tried to click on the drop-down menu to select my OS the website wouldn't let me do it........I was running Safari on Leopard at the time.
    I opened up FireFox and did the exact same thing hoping it was just a "Safari issue" but once again I couldn't click on the drop-down menu and get anything to show up. I did notice, however, that the drop-down box was highlighted. Once I had clicked on the drop-down menu I then hit the "M" button on my keyboard and it made the drop-down menu toggle between OS 9 and OS X. I selected OS X and then hit return. I then noticed that all of the driver information was listed below. I was able to click on the link to the driver (which appears to be pretty new......I think it said 11/7/07) and download it. Once I downloaded it, I then installed it and re-started my computer. Once my computer was restarted I went to my System Preferences and "added" my Canon i960 to my printer list (after I restarted my computer I made sure to turn on my printer before going into System Preferences). Once the printer was added I am now able to print without any problems at all!
    Once I got past the hurdle of downloading the driver everything was pretty slick. I hope this helps cuz I know I was going nuts trying to figure this out.

  • HP Laserjet utility starts and fails to go away after print job

    I have an HP Laserjet 1300 hooked to an Airport base station. After the Leopard install (a default, Upgrade install from 10.4.10), I had to re-ADD that printer in the Print & FAX Preferences panel -- it wasn't simply remembered. That went fine, and printing works as expected.
    EXCEPT: The HP Laserjet 1300 "utility" application (for managing the print queue) now activates with each print job -- not just when there is a problem such as "out of paper" as before. No problems are actually reported during or after the print job. And when the print job finishes, it doesn't go away. I have to manually Quit it.
    I can't find any option to have the "utility" activate only when it has some problem to report (i.e., the way it worked under Tiger), or to make it go away automatically when all print jobs are finished. Any suggestions?
    NOTE: When ADDing the printer in the Print & FAX utility, it did go looking for "new drivers", but didn't announce it found or installed anything new.

    Thank you. That's what I was looking for:
    Right click on the printer utility icon in the dock when you see it still sitting in there. Select "Auto Quit" from the pop up menu. Click on the utility to select it and open its queue window. Manually quit the utility.
    After those steps it appears the utility now activates in the dock and then goes away after each print job that finishes normally.
    Solved!
