Canon Digital Photo Professional

When I bought my Rebel XT I couldn't load DPP until I wiped my HD clean. I'm having the same problem w/5D, I can't load DPP. Are there issues w/canon software that causes this?

bruinman,
Canon has excellent tech support. They should be able to trouble shoot DPP.

  • How do i send my raw photos back to canon digital photo professional from photoshop elements 10 ?

    Hi
i am trying to send my raw photos back to canon digital photo professional from photoshop elemnts 10 organizer can someone help me with this please.
                                                   Thanks
                                                                      Rich.

Well, your photos aren't "in" in the organizer, so you can just point DPP at the folders where they reside, or you could set DPP as your external editor for the organizer, if you prefer that. Organizer>Preferences>Use a Supplementarty Editing Application.

  • Mimicking Canon Digital Photo Professional Picture Styles

I use a Canon 400D and I would like to be able to use Lightroom in such a way so as to be able to mimic the Picture Styles that the Canon Digital Photo Professional software can produce.
The Canon Picture Styles include settings called Standard, Landscape, Portrait, Neutral, and Faithful. I am mostly interested in the colour rendition produced by each of these Picture Styles.
Does anyone have any presets or the like that will enable me to mimic these Picture Styles in Lightroom to at least some degree? The ones called Neutral and Faithful are of the most immediate interest to me.

It may be helpful to know what the Picture styles are doing to your images in the first place.
Standard takes the pictures with a "normal" colour balance,it increases contrast and saturation a little and increases sharpening to 3 on a scale of 0 to 7
Portrait takes the picture with a slight colour bias towards red to enhance the skin tone, it increases contrast and saturation but less so than standard, sharpness is set to 2
Landscape takes the pictures with an increase in the blues and green colours, contrast and saturation are increased more than in standard, sharpness is set to 4
Neutral does nothing much to the image with no increase in saturation, contrast or sharpness which is set to 0. the colours are handled in the same manner as Standard
Faithful is the same as neutral but the colours are based upon a white balance of approximately 5200K, it is designed to minic film in how it handles the colours. It too does not sharpen the image.
More details can be found at http://web.canon.jp/imaging/picturestyle/index.html
I know this does not answer your questions but it at least should start you in the right direction

  • How do I go about with Canon Digital Photo Professional installing?

When I bought my Canon 40D two years ago, I got a cd "Canon Digital Photo Professional 3.3."
I use that on my windows based computer for manipulation. Now..
I wish to install this software in my Mac Book Air. Since I have Aperture 2.1.4 on this MBA, Do I have to choose any particular directory for this Canon DPP install.
Will Canon DPP work along side the Aperture or work as a plug in for Aperture?

    Hi snowshine,
when you launch the DPP installer it will create automatically a folder named Canon Utility in the Application folder...mine did so, I didn't changed the default settings.
After installing DPP from the CD be sure to go to the Canon website and install the upgrade, there are several available, along with Picture Style Editor and a new version of the EOS Utility.
DPP and Aperture are two distinct applications, they can live together, no problem...I have installed DPP and Aperture 2.1.4 on my powerbook G4, DPP and Aperture 3 on both iMac and macbookpro..and everything's fine.
DPP will not act as an Aperture plug-in...but you can set DPP to be the external editor for Aperture if you need so, you can set the external editor program by going in the Aperture Preferences.
    Ciao!
    Alberto

  • After using Canon Digital Photo Professional Adobe Camera Raw cannot identify my Monitor again.

  • Canon Digital Photo Professional and EOS Utility not responding

Have been using both Canon DPP and EOS Utility since Dec 09 successfully. Installed Snow Leopard in Jan 2010, still worked fine. Installed Aperture 3 in August and now the Canon software keeps shutting down on me. I contacted Canon and they said it is Apples fault (since 10.6.4) andthat it is because I am running Snow Leopard.
How can this be when it worked for 4 months fine?
Is this an issue with Aperture not wnating any ohter editing software?
I have a Canon EOS 50D camera and was exporting through the Digital Photo Professional software.
thanks to anyone that can help.

  • Photo problems between iphoto and Canon Digital Photo Professional

    Hey people,
So I've copied all my photos from my SD card and iphoto asked if I wanted to import them so I said yes. I've put them in folders, albums etc and have since installed my Canon software for its editing programme but cannot seem to open my photos in it.
The folder 'iphoto' in the finder or 'all images' aren't available when browsing in the Canon programme, and I cannot drag and drop them into it from the all images folder. The only way I've found to open them in the Canon programme is to copy them and put them into a new folder and having 2 copies of the same photo.
Is there a way of being able to access the photos in both programmes, such as creating a single shared folder with the photos in and then setting them both to have access to it?
    Any help would be great!
    Will

Applologies, I have since discovered the 'export' function in the file menu, so I've solved my problem.

  • Rendering of RAW images in LR5 vs Canon Digital Photo Professional

Just as a pre-amble, I love LR and perform 90% of image processing with it (rest in PS). I use a Canon EOS 5D MKIII shooting in RAW, running LR5 on Win7. My monitor is properly calibrated.
Every so often I view a RAW image with Canon DPP mostly to display the AF point. What I am noticing is that the DPP SW renders the image very different from LR and I tried every LR Profile. In my opinion the DPP rendering is sharper, with less noise and a more natural look. My latest example of the difference in image rendering is from images taken with the Canon 200-400 1.4 zoom lens. This difference in image rendering is after RAW import with no images editing on either application. I just wish there would be a LR profile that yields a similar quality image. Does anybody share my experience on this?

    Panagon-1 wrote:
it would be of no surprise to me if Canon has some advantage with rendering their own proprietary RAW camera output.
Canon has been working on their Digic raw->rgb engine whilst Adobe works on their process versions & camera profiles. But, more likely any "advantage" is due more to the defaults&compensations, rather than inside knowledge of sensor behavior - just a guess, but one based on experience, even if no specific inside knowledge (about Canon sensors & software algorithms) of my own..
    Panagon-1 wrote:

If picture is sharp already (i.e. sharp lens, in focus, sufficient shutter speed ... ) then you may prefer a lower radius sharpening, as trshaner was saying.
But, another approach for such wildlife photos is:
    * instead of sharpening everything (even if relying on sharpening mask to some extent), set global sharpening amount to zero (or 1, at first), then sharpen subject by hand (using locals only). Or, set global low and supplement using locals..
I acknowledge it takes more time, and you may not want to do it to each of 50 shots in a burst, but it allows you to minimize global (luminance) noise reduction (which tends to smooth feather detail in a way which is hard to recover). And of course Lr5 supports local noise reduction, so you can also clean some stuff up locally.
Also worth noting: local sharpness = -50 (exactly) eliminates all global sharpening (but does not blur, unless you overlap pins). So if you do decide to sharpen globally to some extent, consider cleaning up some parts locally using:
    * sharpness = -50
    * noise reduction = whatever-ya-need.
Also, if you do apply some luminance noise reduction, consider cranking luminance noise reduction "detail" way up to preserve feather & hair detail (and keep sharpening detail lower on those high-ISO shots, so you don't need as much lum.NR, which produces better results, IMO). Hint: if you drop sharpening detail down and add lum. NR, you may need higher sharpening amount (and/or radius) to keep from being too soft.

  • Does Canon Digital Photo Professional work in Retina display?

The photos look blurr compared to viewing them in iPhoto. I guess this is because it is displaying the images in the simulated 1440 x 900 resolution instead of the MBP Retina 15" 2880 x 1800 native resolution.
Can it be forced to render in that mode or do we have to wait for Canon to release a new version that supports Retina display? Would any tweaks or modification of config files do the trick?
Even setting the scaled resolution to 1900 x 1200 the photos are still noticably blurr compared to when displayed in native resolution in iPhoto.

So far it seems that software in general has required adjustments by the programmers (not users) to add Retina support. If you have the latest version of DPP available on the Canon web site and it isn't working, I guess you'll have to wait until they do. (I don't have a Retina Mac yet so DPP works fine for me.)

  • Canon Digital Photo Professional & iPhoto

DPP does not see and will not load any files imported to my iMac using iPhoto. It does see other files that have been imported through other means. However, I can edit individual photos using DPP through the edit function in iPhoto. Any ideas what is going on?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Bob
    Sorry but I don't understand
Yes, I have set DPP as the external editor in iPhoto and it works fine.
What are you trying to do?
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto. With 10.5 you can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
    Regards
    TD

  • Canon Digital Photo Professional ver. 3 problems

DPP has been installed on my MBP, but one of functions from "DPP->Tools->Start Rename tool" cannot be appear always.

You will need to take this up with Canon. This forum is for issues relating to the optical drive in the MacBook Pro. Apple do not offer support for - nor endorse - any third-party applications.

  • How do i install canon digital photo professional 2.2 onto os 10.5.x?

2.2 version seems to be made only for 10.4 or less, but how will I install the software on a computer I'm getting that is running 10.5.x? Can I use the 2.20 version software disc, install, and then upgrade. Or will the 10.5 machine reject this 2.2 version's disc? Yikes! I can't find any info from Canon..

I believe that the 2.2 version was released before Leopard was released. Therefore, that's why it said 10.4 & lower. It's quite possible that it will work in Leopard. Install it & see if it works.

va in crash soprattutto quando uso lo strumento "pippetta"

  • Trouble installing Digital Photo Professional and other Canon software

    Hello everyone,
I have been trying to install several software programs on a new iMac without any success. My machine is the 20" Intel Core 2 Duo running OS X 10.4.8. I am attempting to install Canon's Digital Photo Professional version 1.0 and the EOS Digital Solutions version 7.0 (original equipment with my 1D mkII - will upgrade after installation). During the installation of DPP the process will stop while "configuring installation". I then receive a message that "There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again."
When operating the Canon EOS Digital Installer on the Solutions disk I receive the message "Not authorized to write to this folder".
As I am attempting to install this software under the administrative account, the error message for the Solutions disk puzzles me.
Does anyone have any ideas about what the problem is or where to begin troubleshooting?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Kevin

You may need to download the latest version (2.2.2).
It runs fine on my iMac C2D. Version 2.2.2 is also Universal Binary.
The only hitch you may have is the upgrade checks for an installed version. I'm not sure if it will accept the CD as an upgrade.
Where did I download it from? That I'm not certain of! I did a long search on Google & finally ran across a Japanese Canon site that had it.
If you can't install to upgrade, try installing it on a PPC Mac, install the update, then drag & drop the installed file to your new Mac.
