Canon EOD Rebel sl1 (100d) raw photo's (.cr2) cannot be read in aperture. How can I make dat?

How can I read my photo's from my Canon Eos 100d (Rebel sl1) in aperture.
The extension is .cr2.
The extension from my photo's from my Canon 5D Mark III are .cr2 as well, but i can read those in aperture.

.cr2 is a general file extension for Canon Raw format, but the raw support is specific for each camera. The list of supported raw formats is here: http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
I do not yet see your camera on that list. You may have to wait for the next raw support update to be able to open the raw files in Aperture.
While you are waiting, you may want to shoot raw and jpeg pairs and use the jpeg as original file, and change back to the raw as master, when your camera will be supported. Or try, if the free Adobe dng-converter can read the images: see  here http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/16064/adobe-dng-converter

  • EOS rebel SL1 100D, how to point and shoot.

    I recently purchased the, EOS rebel SL1 100D.camera lens, EFS 18- 55 MM,+ EFS 55- 250 MM.
I know it is over my head, but hope to learn, meanwhile, Is there a setting for point and shoot?.
I will be 81 next month, like to spend some time taking better pictures.
    Any help would be appreciated.

ebiggs and cicopo are both basically giving you very similar advice.  There's a subtle difference between the two modes.
In full auto mode (green A+ box on the mode dial) the camera is fully automatic.  It will set the exposure and it will not let you override it.  In fact, it wont let you override much of anything.  That mode tries to be somewhat "fool proof" in that if you mess with buttons on the camera body -- many of the button presses will be ignored in full auto mode.
Program mode ("P" on the mode dial) is siimilar in that it also works out the exposure exactly the way it would have in fully automatic mode.  But the difference is that the "P" mode will actually let you override some of the settings.  Given some amount of light... you can either take a short exposrue with the camera allowing a lot of light thorugh the lens (but only very briefly) -OR- you can take a longer exposure duration... but with the camera only allowing a small amount of light through the lens.  Ultimately the same total of amout of light is collected and you might think these would result in identical images.  But it turns out "fast" images tend to freeze action, but have a shallow "depth of field" (this is the range of distances at which things will appear to be more or less acceptably focused.)  When the camera uses a smaller aperture opening (to allow in less light) the depth of field grows dramatically -- so LOTS of stuff is in focus (great for landscape photos)... but since the shutter needs to be open longer, it's not good for freezing action (and you may even need a tripod if the exposure time is long enough.)
That last paragraph is meant to say that the creative result of the image captured by the camera will actually be different.  This si THE REASON why photographers want to learn how to leave full "automatic" mode and learn to control those parts of the exposure that alter the creative results.
If I take a photo of a waterfall, I might want to put the camera on a tripod and use a setting which allows me to use a very long shutter duration so the motion of the water is blurred (but everything else is tack-sharp.)  This creates those gorgeous milky / dreamy looking waterfalls.  If I want to freeze action -- say... birds in flight -- then I'll use a much faster shutter speed so that my bird isn't blurred.  This is what I mean by "creative" results.  Full auto mode wont ask you to make these choices.  It'll just pick a "middle of the road" safe exposure.
The easiest mode on the dial is the fully automatic green "A+" position.  But it wont let you change much of anything.
The next step toward taking control is the Program mode ("P" on the mode dial) which will let you override settings (and it will let you override things even to the point of ruining the shot -- but you do have to deliberately override the camera's exposure advice and this is not likely to happen by accident.)

  • I am having macbook air recently my iphotos did not open and was showing report apple and reopen but i came to know that by pressing alt and iphotos i open an new photo library and stored the pics but now how can i get the pics which i had in the earlier

i am having macbook air recently my iphotos did not open and was showing report apple and reopen but i came to know that by pressing alt and iphotos i open an new photo library and stored the pics but now how can i get the pics which i had in the earlier photo please help me to recover my photos

    Well I'll guess you're using iPhoto 11:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • How can I make a still photo from imovie

How can I make a still photo from imovie?

Let's assume you have iMovie 11 (Version 9). (If you have a different version, let me know. The instructions will be different.)
First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
    Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then drag this photo into iPhoto.
I have created a short video Tutorial on how to do this. There is one error in the Tutorial, where it says that Command-click is the same as right-click. I should have said Control-click instead.

Hi. I have shared an Apple ID with my children for some time.  As they are getting older they do not wnat me seeing all their messages, photos etc so want their own accounts.  How can they access their purchased music and apps on the new account please?

    Yes.
On their iOS devices, under Settings>iTunes & App Store, they should use your Apple ID. When they log into iCloud, iMessage and Facetime, they should use their personal Apple IDs.

You can make the collages easily if you have iWork.  Just open a letter sized page in landscape mode and drag the photos onto the page, rotate and postiion as necessary.  Then do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto to get a 200 dpi jpeg version of the Pages page into iPhoto.  From there you can add it to your book and use a blank page with the option to have an image as the backbround.
If you have a 3rd party image editor that supports layers you can create the collage with it.

  • I'm running iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5. My collection of 25,000  photos on iPhoto library is completely empty. How can I get them back?

I'm running iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5. My collection of 25,000  photos on iPhoto library is completely empty. How can I get them back?
I dragged one photo to the My Pictures folder in Finder. I knew it was just one photo because it was the only one highlighted in yellow. When I saw it in Finder, it was labled iPhoto. I thought it was the wrong picture, so in Finder I deleted the file. When I got back to iPhoto, EVERYTHING was missing. Events, photos, recent, and even trash. At this point, I went into my Trash. I searched for iPhoto and iPhoto was there. I opened it and it was still empty. All I want to do is to get my collection of photos back!

Best solution is to load your backup from before you did this?
Where did you drag the photo from?
Have you tried dragging it from the trash to the desktop?  What size is it?
What size is your iPhoto library in the pictures folder?

  • I just backed up my photos by copying my iPhoto Library onto an external drive. Now the Library on my MacBook won't open. I can only open the photos if the external is plugged in. How can I resolve this issue?

I just backed up my photos by copying my iPhoto Library onto an external drive. Now the Library on my MacBook won't open. I can only open the photos if the external is plugged in. How can I resolve this issue?

    Exactly what did you do?
    The correct steps are
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive
My guess is that that you have not switched iphoto to use the external drive yet - opttion launch and select libary
