Canon EOS 5D Mark II

I installed the aperture update for this camera, but I still cannot import RAW (CR2) files from my camera into Aperture 2
Does anyone have a solution for that?

???
the firmware is for the camera itself ... it has nothing to do with how the resulting files are imported to or viewed in aperture ...
the apple Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.4 allowed for decoding of 5dm2 (not m3) RAW files within aperture (and all of mac OS) ...
search this board for tethering and canon ...
i seriously doubt canon will change their protocol now just to make tethering work with aperture ... since they haven't yet for the 40d, 50d, 1dsm3, and 1dm3 ...

  • Canon EOS 5D Mark II with Adobe Bridge (CS4) and Camera Raw 5.4

I use a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and store in RAW-format.
The camera is updated with latest software etc.
I have the Adobe Design CS4 package on my computer and updated to the camera raw 5.4 version (bridge/photoshop/etc).
All this is updated to last versions / updates etc.
I upload my pictures from the camera to my computer.
When I inspect the files with the Canon software such as "Digital Photo Professional 3.6.1.0" or "Canon Utilities ZoomBrowser EX 6.3.1" (this are the latest versions and updates)  the files are copied correct to my computer.
The files can be opened with the canon software without any problem and can be modified and converted and all normal operations can be performed.
The files can also be converted to ".jpg" and no problem occurs.
The problem starts after the folder with the pictures (in RAW-format) has been opened / viewed in Adobe Bridge or after Adobe bridge is started.
After starting and viewing with bridge the folder only some of the file become corrupted and cannot be used anymore. So the majority of the files remain OK but some files become corrupt.
A part of the picture is visible partly, the remaining part are lines, dots, squares etc and the divisions of correct picture and corrupted seems to be at random. There is no structure in the way the corrupted file are shown in bridge. Please look at the enclosed picture in this message.
The files can be opened in Camera Raw and Photoshop but they show the corrupted file and can be stored etc.
    But the picture is destroyed.
Does anybody have a sollution or similar problems?
    Best regards

There are forums for Bridge, Camera RAW and Photoshop.
Any of them would be better than posting here.

  • Is the new Canon EOS 7D Mark II supported in Creative Cloud?

Is the new Canon EOS 7D Mark II supported in Lightroom and Photoshop in Creative Cloud?  If not, is there anyway to know when it will be? My current version of Lightroom (5.6) does not recognize the RAW files from this camera.

Native Lightroom support for the D750 was added in the Lightroom 5.7 update released this evening.

  • How do I Remotely Control my Canon EOS-1D Mark II Camera?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a driver or a piece of software that I can download to remotely view and remotely control my Canon EOS-1D Mark II digital camera from my MacBook Pro? The drivers that Canon provides only work on PPC platform, not Intel (to the best of my knowledge), and I can't seem to find an alternative. I even tried the trial version of Phase One's Capture Pro, but it didn't work with the camera!
I know this may not be the correct forum to place this question, but didn't exactly know where else to go with it! Please if someone can please help I'd be eternally grateful! The way I have my camera mounted is nearly impossible to accurately view the object through the viewfinder without climbing up the side of a wall!! Any help, ideas, or suggestions will be much appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions
The PPC software should run on the Intel Machine using the Rosetta emulation. Try it and see. Some cameras can be controlled - at least pics can be taken - via Image Capture (It's in your Applications Folder). From the Image Capture Help:
Many cameras let you take a picture using Image Capture when the camera is connected to your computer.
Connect your camera, and click Download Some.
    Click Take Picture.
The camera snaps a picture, which then appears in the window.
If you don't see the Take Picture icon, choose View > Customize Toolbar, and drag the icon to the toolbar.
If the Take Picture icon is dimmed, your camera does not support this feature.
This works with my Canon S2.

  • Canon EOS 5D Mark 111 camera and I currently use CS4 Photoshop/Bridge

I just purchased a Canon EOS 5D Mark 111 camera and I use CS$ Photoshop/Bridge. Will I need to upgrade my software to make it work with my camera?
    What do I do?

Adobe currently offers two versions of Photoshop:
CS6 (perpetual license: pay once, own forever: no upgrades)
CC (Cloud version: subscription only: all upgrades are free)
CS6 is superseded software. Adobe is no longer working on it. However CS6 is still being offered for sale for those who want it. However, since CS4 is not eligible for an upgrade to CS6, you're faced with paying full price for CS6.
The CC option requires a monthly fee but it's the current version. It's the next major version after CS6. New and enhanced features are added to CC regularly.
If neither the full priced CS6 nor the Cloud CC version are for you then the free DNG converter is your other option so you can continue using CS4.
You download the free Adobe DNG converter http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html
Then you must open all 5D Mark III Raw files in the converter and convert to DNG. That adds an extra step to your workflow. Then you can edit the DNGs in CS4.
Quality-wise DNG files = Raw files. Raw files are manufacturer and camera specific. DNGs are open source. Any software which reads DNG files can read them.

  • Canon EOS 5D Mark II viedos and Final Cut Pro

Photographer Vincent Laforet have posted the original clips made with the new Canon EOS 5D Mark II. This camera could be record movies 1920x1080p in H.264.
The clips could be downloaded here: http://blog.vincentlaforet.com/2008/09/26/original-raw-clips-from-reverie-now-av ailable-for-download/
I've tested this video on two MacBook Pro, a 15" and a 17" HD, all with 4GB of RAM and Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz.
The video is flicking every 5 seconds, on Quicktime Pro and Final Cut Pro 6.
I've created a Sequence in HDTV 30fps and imported the clips. The next step was to import the clips. FCP asked me to change the video and audio settings of the timeline with the settings of the MKII. The video is flicking every 5 seconds.
I can't imagine what computer I should use.
I've seen the Xserve in the making of and I think that Vincent have used its to edit the footage with FCP. A last model of professional laptop from Apple is unable to do this.

    Hey Guys:
According to a recent analysis by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, the h264 video captured in camera is one I-frame for each 15 P-frame. No B-frames. You can read the full report here:
    http://nrkbeta.no/video-test-clips-from-canon-5d-mark-ii-gets-analyzed/#comment- 58420
I've posted a short video tutorial explaining the process to convert the source h264 files to Apple ProRes 422. IMHO, converting to the i-frame Apple ProRes 422 codec as early in the post process as possible will save time and headaches down the line. You can check out the video tutorial here:
    www.petersalvia.wordpress.com.
Theoretically, by converting to ProRes you could work with the footage on a PC if you install the ProRes Decoder for Windows. That decoder is available here:

    Hope this helps!

  • •Canon EOS 5D Mark II Raw Files Won't Open?

I use PE 11 and normally shoot with Nikon cameras.  I recently used a friend's Canon #EOS 5D Mark II and the Canon Raw files will not open.  I found a Camera Raw plug-in (5.2) that addresses this but am concerned this plug-in will override the camera raw plug-in already installed to read my Nikon files.  Is this a valid concern?

Thanks for your response.  What I think the problem was had to do with a couple of corrupted files.  The jpg versions displayed correctly but the raw files did nothing when they were selected.  I deleted 4 files that would not display and then randomly selected another which did.  All the remainder of 46 files display in PE.  I might have a bad CF card on my hands even though it is new.  I’ll send it to Lexar for examination.
Good to know the question forum works.  Thanks.

  • Photoshop Elements cannot open Camera RAW from Canon EOS 7D Mark ii

I just bought Canon EOS 7D mark ii camera.  I have Photoshop Elements 12.  The program is unable to open RAW images. The message is "the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by installed version of camera Raw".
I downloaded 8.7.1 plugin but that is also not able to open the image.

You need Adobe camera raw version 8.7 Unfortunately your software pre-dates the camera. ACR 8.7 is only compatible with PSE13. But it is possible to download and install the free DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will open in PSE12 (keep your CR2's as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.7.1
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.7.1
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Recognize Canon EOS 7D Mark II RAW Files in PS CS5 on Windows

I'm trying to get a RAW files from a Canon EOS 7D Mark II recognized by PS CS5. I'm running a Windows 8.1 desktop.
That camera format is supported by ACR 8.7.1 update. But that appears to be only backwards compatible with PS CS6.
Is there any recourse other than upgrading Photoshop? Thanks.

Yes. Download the DNG Converter free from Adobe: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1 in order to convert the Canon raws to dng format which can then be read in Adobe Camera Raw.

  • .mov files from  - Canon EOS 5D Mark ll  -  iPod Nano

Let's get into a little more detail.
The moniker ".mov" doesn't really mean much. It means "a movie that QT can play back" - a very generic statement. Saying that a movie is a QuickTime movie is saying nothing of the underlying codec. You might have a hundred movie files with the ending ".mov" and they could all be using different codecs like: Motion Jpeg, DV, XDCam, DVCPro, DVCPro HD, H.264 and so on.... So to answer the question, "...Does the fact that it is already an .mov file make it more of a drag and drop thing?" The answer is, No. Here's why:
The 5D (and 7D) shoot a ".mov" file, yes. But specifically it's of the H.264 flavor. This is a burdensome codec. It's processor intensive. It's not meant for editing, it's meant for delivery. Furthermore, if there are going to be advances with it's native editability it's going to happen at the happen on hardware and software that are of the most current standards. And besides, that's still a big if.
There are no current machines that have true drag-drop-edit (without pain) the raw Canon .mov files. If you're thinking your current computer can't handle "hi-def footage" then it most certainly won't handle the (HD) camera native files. That doesn't mean you can't edit the footage. You'll just be back to what's been mentioned before: transcoding. You can always transcode to the highest quality codec that your Mac can handle and edit in that format. DVCPro HD? DV, at least! Don't know - whatever your machine can handle.
Summary: Native 5D camera files ---> FCP = painful, even with newest hardware/software. Rule is transcode. This is the only way people are efficiently working with this footage right now.
Footage Quality - it's quite nice! There's tons of video all over Vimeo with it now. It's a great concept that will only get better. Snoop around here too. There are tons of sample footage on the web. It is highly compressed though. All that info, and with tiny files, the information is going someplace! Being discarded. Learning to maximize an environment's given conditions will lead to minimizing the camera's inherent artifacts.
The next question to ask yourself is do you want this camera mostly for the HD movie mode or photography? The new 7D has some compromises compared to the 5D but has some things that the 5D doesn't, yet. Like framerates. The 5D is, for now, strictly 30P, while the 7D sports 24P, 25P 30P and 50P & 60P at 720P (instead of the full 1920x1200).
Hopefully that answers some questions regarding FCP dealing with the native camera files. Other than that: 5D or 7D? Both have some worthwhile merits to consider.

  • Nutzt Lightroom die Korrekturdaten für Vignettierung und Aberration der Canon EOS 5D Mark III?

    Hallo,

    ;o)

hi cannot import RAW photos from my canon eos 5d mark 3 to iphoto 9.6 with iOS  X Yosemite. Fotos are black. Did you have a solution for that?

Thanks. Once ImageCapture had accessed the photos, THEN iPhoto began to pick up the data, so I was ultimately able to do both. It only worked with the cable, though, not the card readers. Weird.
And I really appreciate the ImageCapture tip. Any idea why it worked?

    Hi WC!
Thanks for posting on the forum.
It is very likely that the issue is with the cards you have tried and not the camera.
You mentioned that you were going to try a faster card.
Were you able to do so yet?
If so, how did the faster card perform?
Do you experience the same issue when recording to a high-speed CF card instead of an SD card?
