Canon EOS D30 - Bad Image Colouring

Hello All!
This is my first post so please be kind!
I recently purchased a second hand Canon EOS D30 and have an issue with the images that it is producing.
I have attached a few sample images.
Does it look like a hardware or software issue?
Do you know if there is anything I can do to remedy this problem?
I don't seem to be able to do a factory reset.
Many thanks for your time and effort in helping me! I apologise if I have made a silly mistake!
Best regards
Jonathan

If you loaded the program from a CD there is a very good chance that it is out of date. Go to the Canon support site and look to see what upgrades there are for the software and download those and try again.
If it still fails you will need to contact Canon as Michael wrote,

  • Canon eos 6d: dark images

    Hi,
I was shooting in manual with my camera (canon eos 6d) and a friend was shooting the same subject at the same time on the same settings as me (iso, shutter speed and aperture), but her images appeared much brighter on her viewfinder - any ideas why?
Thank you so much! Really appreciate your help!

When you look through the viewfinder, you see the image through the widest aperture of which the lens is capable; and the wider the aperture, the brighter the image. If your friend was using a lens with a wider maximum aperture, her images would appear brighter. The settings at which the picture will actually be taken have no effect on this.

  • Canon EOS 6D - Unsupported Image Format

    Hi,
when I import RAW pictures from my Canon EOS 6D to the library, Aperture shows me this message: "Unsupported Image Format".
I updated Aperture to the last available version (3.4.3 - Digital Camera Raw 4.00 - Build 658.1) but nothing changes.
    Any ideas?
    Thank's!

  • Can I use Image Capture to take a picture using a Canon EOS 10D?

Normally I use a card reader to download digital photos, but today I hooked my camera directly to my iMac. I then noticed the "Take Picture" button, so I tried to use it to take a picture with my Canon EOS 10D. Image Capture didn't refuse, it just showed the 'cogwheel' animated cursor and got stuck. What does this mean - is it that this particular camera won't work or that there is something wrong with the setup? I have other digital cameras, but I don't want to work all this out by experiment alone - how can I find out more about how this feature of IC works and what exactly is going on when I press "Take Picture"? There is absolutely no technical info in the Help files.

The Help on Image Capture has the following:
Many cameras let you take a picture using Image Capture when the camera is connected to your computer.
    To take a picture:
Connect your camera and open Image Capture.
    Click Download Some.
    Click Take Picture.
The camera snaps a picture, which then appears in the window.
If you don’t see the Take Picture icon, choose View > Customize Toolbar, and drag the Take Picture icon to the toolbar.
If the Take Picture icon is dimmed, your camera doesn’t support this feature.
As the option is available to you, your camera supports +Tethered Shooting+. If it’s not working check your camera’s manual to see do you need this enabled on your camera.

  • Does anyone know a source for a EOS D30 camera lithium battery cover CB2 0666-000

I am wondering if anyone can help me. I have a Canon EOS D30 I inherited from my parents. They hardly used it, so I would like to sell it. However, the round black battery cover for the lithium battery on the bottom of the camera is missing. I thought it would easy to find a replacement, and after an exhaustive internet search, was I surprised to see that it is not available anywhere! Does anyone know if there is a cover from another model that would work? Without it, the camera is rendered useless!!!!!  Canon could only provide me the part #:  CB2 0666-000.  I checked ever site link, and it seems as if this part is now sold out over the world..... THANK YOU to whomever can help me.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you just can't find that cover you can always put the battery grip on it. That is probably the reason the original cover is missing anyway as someone had a grip on it. Plus the grip makes it a way much better camera.
I have to agree, though, a 3 MP camera is not very desirable and may not be worth the cost of the grip. But that is a way out for you.

  • Intel imac not running Canon EOS Software?!

I have just bought a new intel imac G5 (20"). My Canon 'Camera Window' software won't launch when I connect my Canon EOS 5D. Image Browser will launch when clicked on, but cannot see my 5D, or get Camera Window to respond. Camera window is completely unresponsive, does not show any window at all, but needs to be forced to quit as it seems to be hanging invisibly in a state of semi-launched limbo! I am a pro photographer and need this to start working asap. I have been researching the net for 3 days for a solution, updated the Canon software with the latest versions, reinstalled the orig Canon CD's, updated again, repaired permissions etc etc. In a real state and need to know if this will run as it does on my old ibook G3. Is there any way to get it working on the new intel imac's?! By the way, I'm running 10.4.6. Help VERY MUCH appreciated! THANK YOU!

    I received this reply today regarding this subject;
Thank you for writing to us regarding your Canon EOS 5D camera. I am
sorry to hear of your experience with the EOS Capture Software and your
    Mac ProBook.
My name is Chris Easdon and I am the Contact Center Supervisor for
On-line Support here at Canon ITS. Your latest reply was escalated to me
    for assistance.
Immediately upon receipt of your inquiry I contacted our Senior
Technical Support Engineer (TSE) to obtain further clarification on this
issue. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you, but I just
received their response and want to share my findings with you.
According to the Senior TSE, "Yes, Canon USA as well as Canon Inc. are
aware of the problems connecting EOS Digital SLR's to Intel based Mac
computers like the customers Mac Book Pro. It is not a problem with Mac
OS 10.4.6 it is a problem with the Intel based Mac's since the cameras
work fine on OS 10.4.6 when running on a PowerPC based system. Canon
Inc. is working on an update and hopefully so is Apple, but at this time
we do not have any further information. Perhaps the customer should take
this up with Apple since it is their Intel based Mac implementation that
is causing the problem. A card reader is our only suggested workaround
    at present."
So, as described by the TSE, your camera's software is fully compatible
with the MAC OS 10.4.6. Unfortunately, there are issues with the
    configuration on your ProBook.
As the TSE indicated, using a card reader until a fix is developed would
be the best option available to you at this time.
I apologize for any inconvenience this causes you. Please let me know if
I can be of any assistance to you.

  • Canon EOS 7D images soft

    Hi,
I am experiencing soft , lackluster images with my Canon EOS 7D with a EFS 17-55mm lens.
Perhaps this is operator error, however I'm wondering if the focus of light settings are out of wack.
I would expect tighter focus overall. No matter what I do I can't seem to pull focus. Most of these shots were with the autofocus setting. And the watterfall shots were timer/tripod shots, incuding the movie.
    These shots just seem bad.
These are a sample of Auto, P and M settings.
See what you guys think. Thanks
    http://chappledesign.com/Canon_EOS_7D/

Possibly you need to tweak the autofocus microadjustment. The 17-55 is a very good lens, but it isn't an "L", and mine (also on a 7D) required +9 points of AFMA.

  • Downloading images from Canon EOS 7D camera results in corrupted images.

    Hi,
I'm struggling to download images from my Canon EOS 7D camera. The images appear corrupted on my hard drive. This does not happen consistently. Some images get corrupted, but could appear properly when trying a second time. The errors occur in EOS Utility or in iPhoto: same (bad) result. I tried to repeat downloading on a Windows machine (separate) and in a Ubuntu environment (Virtual Machine on my mac). In both cases, I had no problem. Canon states that the problem resides in my iMac. The dealer of my camera mentioned that if they see those problems, it usually relates to bad connections or a poor USB cable. I also tried several USB ports and cables, but could not resolve the problem that way. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

I've had this issue a few times and found it falls in to a few buckets, just a few things to consider if the images show up fine in the camera but not when you copy them out.
    1) The format (version of RAW in my case I was using with Aperture
    2) The reader
    3) The drive
    4) The connection
Format: when I first got the 7d I wanted to use the RAW.2 version. The .CR2 file format (Canon RAW version 2) is a digital photography RAW format created by Canon. "RAW" here means that this file stores information directly coming from the sensor, almost without processing. This file would show up corrupt every time i tried to open in in Aperture, or IPhoto on my Power-Mac
G5. I could only open it up in the supplied Canon software After some poking around I found out that I had to upgrade to Aperture3 to get the new supported RAW formats. Since I can't buy a new mack I changed the version of RAW I used.
Once I changed from using that RAW format it was fine. There are times Aperture will say that the file is corrupt but
when I restart the application it is fine I think there are some memory issues when it does this and I have to reboot the application over time.
The READER:I used to use a USB reader which was fine for the 10D but with the 7D and the 5D the files are much larger in RAW from 10 megs on the 10D to 25 megs or more on the 7D/5DMk2. After shooting 500 - 1000 shots in a night I'd have to download overnight in order to get everything. Some times the file would be corrupted coming over. If I pulled the file off later one by one or in smaller groups it would be fine. I have since upgraded to a Firwire 800 cards reader. Hours becomes 10 minutes for a 16Gig fill loaded card. not 8-10 hours.
The Drive: I've seen every files copy except 1, if I am able to hook up another drive and it works I run DiskWarrior, TechTool or SoftRAID. Usually thy confirm a bad sector in the drive. I'll back up the drive with time machine or a disk dupe software and then format the drive it it's part of a RAID I replace the drive entirely from the chain.
The connection: bad cables have also been a culprit but not often with firewire.

Hi I have a question about shooting in Raw with my Canon EOS 6d.
I'm in the process of learning photography and my goal was to start shooting in raw.
I have Photoshop CS5. When I tried to edit my images in raw I received an error message stating, "The photoshop camera raw plug-in did not recognize the format. If these files are from a camera, you may need to update your camera raw plug in."
In researching the issue I read that to edit in raw you need a camera model requirement of at least 7.3 which only works with CS6. My version of CS5 is 6.0.0.205. Being new to all this I see that my options are to upgrade to CS6 or convert by using DNG converter and paying a monthly fee. Two things I know nothing about and don't know which is would be more beneficial.
I'd appreciate any advise on which route to go and how upgrade and what it may cost. THANKS in advance!
    Heather

In researching the issue I read that to edit in raw you need a camera model requirement of at least 7.3 which only works with CS6.
That is correct. Your camera was first supported by Camera Raw 7.3. Camera Raw 7.3 will not work with CS5. You need CS6 or CC.
Being new to all this I see that my options are to upgrade to CS6 or convert by using DNG converter and paying a monthly fee. Two things I know nothing about and don't know which is would be more beneficial.
I'd appreciate any advise on which route to go and how upgrade and what it may cost.
It all depends on your preferred workflow and your budget.
Using the DNG converter is free. There is no monthly fee. You use the converter to convert all Raw files from the EOS 6D to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS5. That's an extra step every time - every photo. Some people don't like the extra step. Others don't mind.
Camera raw, DNG | Adobe Photoshop CC
Or you can upgrade to CS6 (non-Cloud) and pay the upgrade fee
    Creative Suite 6
Or join the Cloud and pay the monthly fee
Or join the Photoshop Photography Program (US9.99/month) and get PS CC+LR

  • Canon EOS 350D .CR2 pics still 'unsupported image format'?

I was releaved to see updates in Mac OS X (10.4.8) and Aperture 1.5 the other week, hoping it would solve my problem, being able to finally work with my RAW files (.cr2) from the Canon EOS 350D (yes, being in Europe these days).
I followed the posts on the forum throughout the summer, which recommended waiting for the next OS X update (which should support the camera in that raw definition file) and I didn't want to use the workaround, which clearly had problems with the colors on the pics.
After all the updates the other week, nothing has changed on my MBP. Still the 'Unsupported Image Format' on my RAW files. On the other hand, I don't see any posts on problems with the 350D camera anymore as well (only on CR2 files in general).
Am I missing something really basic here (tried rebuild library)? Or, have all the CR2 formats gone down the drain on Aperture 1.5?
Any help is appreciated, as I have already looked into Adobe Lightroom Beta and although I don't want to switch, the files seem to work there...

Yes, the import thumbnail is as you describe, the low res. JPG that is embedded in the RAW wrapper.
10.4.8 needs to be installed prior to Aperture 1.5 .... from a functionality point of view. I am not aware of a dependence that says AP 1.5 has to be uninstalled before a 10.4.8 upgrade or any such, not that AP 1.5 should need re-installing after a 10.4.8 upgrade .... assuming it was working correctly beforehand.
But to this last point, since you have an issue which may be related to AP or OS X, it is likely worthwhile updating both and in order.
Final thought. do you import directly from the CF card / camera vs. using an intermediary tool such as ImageBrowser or DP Professional? I am wondering if Aperture is very OCD aboout the image format wrapper and chokes at the least excuse that other apps. and tools ignore.

  • Canon EOS D60 CR2 raw images don't open in Photoshop.  Why?

I know this question has been asked many times but I couldn't find a thread with an answer.  I have just taken my first images with my Canon EOS D60 (upgraded from 1000D) and find that the CR2 raw images aren't recognised by Photoshop.  I remember I had this issue when I first had my 1000D but cannot remember what I did.  I have CS4 V11.0.2 and tried to update Camera Raw but it says no updates are available.  I have Lightroom 3 and that opens them ok but not Photoshop.  Sorry .... but can anyone tell me again what the problem is?  Thanks. :-(

You can get support for the latest cameras in CS2, CS3 and CS4 through our FREE DNG Converter:
    Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4923
    Win: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4924
There are other benefits to using DNG besides backward compatibility if you haven’t explored those:
The metadata, keywords and RAW adjustments are stored in the file – along with a processed preview of the image. This makes the file portable and keeps your metadata safe and secure.
DNG files are smaller than the original RAW file which will save you disk space and time in the long run.
DNG is an openly specified file format which means the file format isn’t going away. So if you use another RAW processor that supports DNG, you don’t have to worry about compatibility or portability of your metadata.

  • After loading Lion I cannot open some pictures. I get Unsupported Image Format. It tells me picture was taken with Canon EOS Rebel with unknown lens

After loading Lion I cannot open open some pictures in Aperture. I get Unsupported Image Format, all files even the ones I can open are .JPG. Also it tells me picture was made using Canon EOS Rebel with unknown lens.

You mention that 'most' of your files are DNG. Try
running the effected files through Adobe DNG
converter again and then import your reprocessed
files to Aperture and see if the problem persists.
I had a problem with a batch of D2x files converted
to DNG which had been metadata tagged by
    PhotoMechanic (the evil app).
B.T.W. You mention that you had been using Bridge.
Are you getting any of the embedded XMP metadata
coming into Aperture during the import process?
Already tried that multiple times...no luck. I'm wondering though if it might be related to metadata as you suggest. I'm still trying different things to see what happens.
I was able to alleviate the problem on one set of images by painstakingly searching my external drive for the oldest backups I could find - CR2 files from before DNG conversion. I then ran those through DNG Converter and tried importing them again (this time, I embedded NO thumbnail, but I'm not sure if that made the difference - I think it was more likely a fluke in the original conversion that caused the problem). This time, it worked.
Now, the big problem is that I still have a couple hundred images for which I can't seem to locate the original CR2 files. I don't typically keep them after conversion, as I don't have the space for both.

  • Anyone been able to get OS Image Capture to remote trigger Canon EOS DLSR?

    Hi
I am connecting my Canon EOS 50D DLSR to a MacBook using USB.
I am able to copy photos off the camera's memory card, however the built in OS X Image Capture software refuses to remote trigger the camera to take a picture.
I need to try get it working as being able to remote trigger the camera using the Image Capture software is a pre-requisite to using iStopMotion animation software which apparently uses the same Quicktime framework.
    Thanks in advance.
    Chris

iStopMotion fails to trigger the camera. I have been in contact with the developers and they say that iStopMotion uses the same Apple Quicktime framework as the OS supplied Image Capture software (which does have a Take Picture menu option)
So essentially if I can resolve the issue and get the Apple OS Image Software to trigger the camera it is a good indication that the issue is resolved and the iStopMotion software will also work.
I am using the Image Capture software to test the issue as my free demo license to iStopMotion has now expired and obviously I don't want to buy the software unless I believe it will work.
Any Canon EOS 50D DLSR owners out there who can test their camera with the Mac OS Image Capture Take Picture option?

  • I can't open RAW (cr2) images from my Canon EOS 650D

    Hey,
I use Photoshop CS5 Extended (Version 12.1 x64). I can open the raw-Images (cr2) from my Canon EOS 1000d/Rebel XT but I can not open the RAW-Images (cr2) from my Canon EOS 650D (Rebel T4i). I have installed the latest update for CS5 through the updaate command.
    How can I open them?
    Thank you!

    Hi there,
Support for RAW from Rebel T4i was launched in ACR 7.2 (Adobe Camera Raw). However, ACR 7.x is compatible only from CS6, not on CS5.
Sorry, but you can work with the installation disc you've got from Canon to convert the files into TIFF/ JPG or get the 7.2 DNG converter from here:
    Win - http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5486
    Mac - http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5485
Why don't you consider upgrading to CS6? There are some great upgrade prices in store right now.

    HELP!

Running Aperture Trial 3.1.2  all updates completed.
May have solved one problem & got another!
I can now import RAW images by selecting 'Raw' rather than 'Raw + L' on camera menu. This leaves me with all large files - potential future storage problem.  Looking into this.
