Canon G1 compatible with iPhoto 09 and 08?

I have an older canon camera a G1. It used to be recognized by my mac before I switched to iPhoto 09 and Leopard. Any body have any info on this? Is there a setting I'm doing wrong? iPhoto is set to import when camera is connected, it just does nothing. I'm not new to this, we've imported from this camera 100's of times, it's just since we switched to leopard etc that we noticed things changed.
My kids computer with Leopard and iphoto 08 is also not recognizing the camera.
Is Leopard the problem???
Thanks...

Are you shooting JPEG or RAW?
Canons typically do not show up on the desktop but are seen by iPhoto and by image capture. Some have multiple connect modes - check your camera manual and/or menus (probably while you are connected) to see if you do and try each of them - I think it is mass storage mode that you want but do not have Canon cameras)
Try Image Capture
Consider getting a USB card reader - it have many advantages and will be a lot faster

  • Is the new Canon 870 compatible with iPhoto

The digicam/iPhoto 08 compatibility page is not working as directed by the iPhoto support pages. Thanks. dennis

    so many questions there.
First, ATV2 is basically a cheaper subset of the original ATV (but with the addition of Netflix). Streaming works the same way, but you can no longer sync your library. So, the ATV2 is stuck, tethered to your Mac/PC.
So, no, the ATV1/2 both support only content from iTunes, you can't stream browser content. For that, you need to hook your computer up to the AV system, either by cable or wirelessly with something like Veebeam.
I haven't used Airport Express, but I believe that also is limited to streaming audio from iTunes.
There are various wireless solutions to stream your music amongst rooms, from Sonos to a Bluetooth dongle for Bose speakers.
    Hope that helps. Good luck.

  • Problems with borderless printing with iPhoto '08 and HP Photosmart Printer

I am trying to print borderless 4x6 photos on HP Photosmart C6250 (same as all HP C62xx Photosmart printers). I am using the HP 4x6 photo paper with the perforated tab. When I select the paper size, I specify Borderless 4x6 in/10 x15 cm (tab). According to the printer manual, the tab should be facing out. I have tried printing with tab out and the tab in. With tab in, it printed the picture leaving white space at the other end equal to length of tab. With tab out as printer specified, it left a white gap at beginning of photo (not as wide as tab) and printed the photo over the perforated tab.
Anyone else figured out how to print using the 4x6 paper with tabs. I also tried printing from the HP software included with the printer and it has issues, too. So, it might be an HP problem, or is it maybe a Mac printing issue with this printer.
    Thanks for any help!

    Barbara:
This is a shot in the dark but take a look at the following topic. It might just help. As they say, any port in a storm.
Topic : iphoto won't print properly to HP photosmart
It does seem like a bizarre solution however. Good luck.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Olympus Evolt E-500 Digital SLR is compatible with iPhoto?

Does anyone know if the Olympus Evolt E-500 Digital SLR is compatible with iPhoto ( I do not want to have to use Olympus software)? I know it is not listed on the official Apple list but am curious if anyone could speak from experience. I am looking at purchasing a digital SLR and am considering the Evolt E-500 but would like to understand its compatibility with iPhoto.
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

RAW ORF files will not work as of yet. JPEG and TIFF are okay. I have CS2 and had to download a RAW beta from Adobe to process my RAW files. I knw that my friend had problems with CR2 files (Canon 350D) when Tiger was at 10.4.2. He would see the thumbnails in finder column view but Preview and iPhoto before the last update would not work. When 10.4.3 came all is well; so I ma hoping 10.4.4 will let us use ORF RAW files fromour E500. If you get a chance check out the forums at www.dpreview.com and the Olympus DSLR forum and the MAC tools forum. When I got my E500 I started shooting RAW right away. You will find more control in processing the the RAW to jpeg. Hope this helps.

  • IPhone problem with iPhoto 08 and Web Gallery 08

I have created web photo galleries in iPhoto 08. Then I have opened iWeb08 and created a page an added a web gallery widget for each of the galleries on this page, everything works fine. Now I fire up the iPhone and go to my iWeb page where the widgets are located.
The problem is the web gallery widget appears on the iPhone screen as a blue cube with a question mark on two sides and some round grey circles on top. I can not access the galleries from iPhone. Are these cubes a representation for some program that the iPhone can't open? Any help is appreciated.

I'd post your question in the iPhone forum because it seems to be an iPhone issue rather than an iPhoto one.

  • PHP photo galleries that are compatible with iPhoto?

I don't have MobileMe, but I do have a personal web site running PHP and would like to publish my photo albums on my web site as a good place to store them. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best PHP photo gallery software (preferably free) **that is compatible with iPhoto**?
Of course I can always export everything out of iPhoto and then import them into ANY photo gallery software, but I'm hoping there's a good one out there that does have iPhoto support.

  • What photo printers are compatible with iPhoto '08?

On Apple's support site, they list the printer drivers that Leopard comes with, but I'm finding that just because Leopard comes with the driver, that doesn't necessarily mean the printer is compatible with iPhoto... unless my research has mislead me.
What iPhoto-compatible printers are you all using, or which photo printers do you recommend?
    Thanks,

  • USB monitor not compatible with iPhoto or Maps?

My AOC USB display will not show photos in iPhoto (other than thumbnails), nor will it show maps in the Maps app.  The manufacturer tells me this is something Apple needs to remedy.  Does anyone know of a third party solution?  I've heard there is some kind of hardware USB graphics adapter but I don't know if that will solve this problem.

  • How do I find out if my camera is compatible with iphoto?

I don't really know much about cameras or iphoto so I need to find out if my camera is compatible with iphoto. It's a panasonic that is a few years old. Where do I go to find this out?

    skittlesdrummer219
    Here's a non-complete list
    http://www.appleclub.com.hk/iphoto/compatibility/camera.html
which mentions no Panasonics at all. However, I'm in the process of buying one because even if the camera won't directly connect with iPhoto, I can use a USB card reader - which I actually prefer - to load the pics into iPhoto.
    Two things to try:
    1. Connect your Camera to your Mac and switch the camera on. Does iPhoto Launch? Does the Camera show up as a disk on the desktop?
    2. Take the card from the camera and pop it into a Card reader attached to your Mac. Does it show on the desktop as a disk?
IF your Mac can see the Camera Card in either scenario, you can use it with iPhoto.
