Canon G10 thumbnails don't work??

Hi -
I have CS4 and have installed the latest update but the thumbnails for Canon G10 raw files do not display (ACR will open and convert them properly). All other raw files (nikon) do display thumbs.
Any one have a tip for troubleshooting this?

Have you purged the cache for the offending folder(s) through the Bridge Tools menu?
Also check the ACR forum. I seem to remember that some type(s) of files from certain Canon files are not supported (not considered true or conforming raw files)

Now .m2t scened thumbnails don't work

I have some HDV video (quite a bit) the thumbnails work until autoanalyzer has run and detected scenes in the footage. Once the clip is "Scened" the thumbnails no longer work. The extentension is .m2t
To recap:
Thumbnails work for my .m2t files but when adobe puts scenes on the file the thumbnails don't work.
Any sugestions or ideas?

No it's not.
The last issue was with AVCHD files (.mts) didn't work at all. The work around was to rename to .m2ts.
This is HDV files (.m2t). And the thumbnails work until adobe runs autoanalyzer on them and if it detects scenes the thumbnails stop working on that file.
I wish I could just disable the scene detection as it's not needed since I used HDVSplitter to import the files. But I can't find out how to do that so I have to figure out how to get my .m2t thumbnails to work when elements puts scenes on the file.
And for the record the AVCHD have thumbnails (after renaming to .m2ts) even after the scenes are detected, but each scene as the same thumbnail so scenes are kind of worthless in organizer for avchd files.

Aperture 2.1.4 & Canon 7d RAW don't work

I have borrowed a Canon 7d to shoot an occasion, all the shots were in RAW, no JPGs.
I'm running latest Aperture 2.1.4 and Mac OS X 10.6.6 w/ all updates (related or non related) installed.
Plugged the 7d through a USB cable, imported all the photos in Aperture, problem is, I can only see a thumbnail of the photos, tried to fully browse them w/o any luck, I get a dark-red screen with: "Unsupported Image Format", also, thumbnails are pixelated.
I've done my searching and found out that I need to select-all images and go to: File>Migrate Images, tried that, both 'Upgrade Existing RAW images' and 'Create upgraded version of existing RAW images'. None worked out for me, I still can't view my images & edit them within Aperture 2.1.4.
What should I do? I desperately need help!

First, make sure that you are using full RAW files not RAWs. RAW s is a smaller size setting in the camera which has not been supported by Aperture in the past. Second, try rebuilding your Aperture database. I have a Canon 7d and use RAW. It works fine on my system. You can try reinstallation but if your problem is the RAW version or your database, reinstallation will not address the problem.

Thumbnails don't work

In the older version of iWeb when I posted a picture page when someone clicked on a photo thumbnail it would open a larger photo of that thumbnail. Since the update it won't work anymore. Am I missing something here? Any help is appreciated.

As in all cases like this, it makes it much easier for us to offer help if you provide your site URL. Can you do that?
Subject to that, may I ask if you have by any chance removed the Start Slideshow button from your Photo page? If so, this could be the explanation (the javascript gets confused if it isn't there). If you don't want it to appear on the page, you can always hide it with a graphic shape.

Thumbnail previews don't work. CS5 / G5

What happened to the thumbnail previews?!! They don't work anymore and it really slows the workflow down...a lot!
Now you have to open up every file to see what it is.
Please Adobe, tell me there's a fix!

What in the world are you smoking? Please read again.
The thumbnail previews are the little images that you see in 'finder' when you click on a file without opening it. They show you a miniature preview image (thumbnail) of the file.
Example: If you are in Indesign and you want to place an illustrator file into your layout, you would click on your frame and hit 'Apple D' and then locate the file you want from a relevant folder. I used to be able to use the thumbnail previews to help locate the file I needed. Now this function doesn't work and I have do trial by error. Which obviously takes much longer and slows the work flow down.
This happened after installing CS5. Not sure why or what's causing it exactly but it's a big deal.
Looking for a fix (not from smoking).

Timecapsule and Canon MF 4430 printer don't work together!

So my canon mf 4430 doesn't work with timecapsule. I have downloaded the drivers and setup the printer through system preferences. My computer finds the printer and shows a green light. But when I try to print I get an error:
"Cannot communicate with the printer, or the printer is not supported. If the printer is supported, check the printer connection and add it again. Then, if the Print dialog box has a Printer Info button, acquire the printer information: 10322."
When I print via USB the printer works just fine.

The problem is not limited to Time Capsule. The USB port on the Airport Express and Extreme will have the same problem. And other brands of print servers and routers will also have the problem because it is the UFR2 driver causing the problem.

Bridge in trial CS4 doesn't read my Canon G10 .CR2 files

One of my motivations for upgrading to CS4 is to use my canon G10 files through bridge.
I've transferred the files from the camera to my computer. I've also run them through the latest DNG converter to use with CS3 - that worked fine.
Now bridge in the CS4 trial lists the .CR2 files, but with no metadata or thumbnail. If I double click on the file, CS4 says "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." The .DNG versions load without any problem.
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I had just come to that conclusion and tried to edit my post but it didn't seem to work.
My question now is, if I update to CR5.2, will that mess up CS3 (in case, for example, I don't end up keeping CS4)?

Canon G10 Raw Shots

So I think I realize that I cannot use my antiquated Photoshop 5 with RAW shots taken on my Canon G10. However I was not able to get any assistance from the help line as to which version I need to upgrade to. I don't have an open bank account so if anyone could make a suggestion as to which is the most cost effective that would work I would greatly appreciate it. I'm starting to think that shooting in RAW was a mistake. All are underwater pictures taken in Bonaire and I would really like to work with them

If by version 5 of Photoshop you mean just plain Photoshop 5.0 from the late 90s or early 2000's, then it is too old to upgrade to the current version of Photoshop which is 11 or CS4 and you cannot buy an earlier version of Photoshop, either, so the answer to your question is that you need to buy Photoshop 11 at the full price if you actually want to use Photoshop directly with your RAW images.
You may be talking about some other product with Photoshop in its name, like Photoshop Elements or Photoshop Premier (video) or Photoshop Lightroom, but the answer to what version to upgrade to is still likely the same, unless, perhaps Photoshop Elements 5 is still a valid candidate for the current version of Photoshop Elements which is 8.
You may also be talking about Adobe Camera RAW version 5 and since the current version of ACR is 5.6 and upgrades from ACR 5.x to 5.6 would be free, there is no upgrade cost. ACR 5.x shipped with Photoshop 11 or CS4 so you'd be set by just performing the latest ACR update.
If you don't want to spend $600-ish on PS-CS4 then you could spend half that and get Lightroom 2, now, or even use the LR3 beta from labs.adobe.com until next April and then buy LR3 for $300-ish.
However, if you don't want to spend even that amount of money, then I'd suggest getting Photoshop Elements 8 for around $99 and update it (manually according to the instructions on the ACR update pages) to ACR 5.6 and you'll be able to work with your images one-by-one, which is not as slick as doing multiple images in ACR as hosted in Photoshop, itself, but you'd be using the current ACR technology.
There may be version differences I am not that up on if you are on a Mac and using Elements, where perhaps PSE5 is not that old compared to the currently available version and possibly upgradable to whatever the current Mac version of Elements is.
If none of this answers your question, then be more specific as to what Photoshop 5 means, exactly, since many products have Photoshop in their name.

Canon G10 is invisible from my iMac

Hi, hope to be in the right forum...but I didn't find where to post it!
I have a new canon g10 and yesterday I updated my mac with the new Digital Camera Raw Compatibility 2.4 release but I have still some problems:
1) when I turn my camera on (joined with the usb cable) it will remain invisible in my finder (insthead other external drive like storage keys, hard drive etc will be showed) but it will be showed in the iphoto device list
2) the cr2 raw files will still not opened with the preview (insthead they work well with iphoto)
I read in the update's note that there are the updates for the g10 camera for iphoto and aperture...and not for the mac system? :o/

Does it work with Image Capture?
Apparently, most Canon cameras don't support "Mass Storage" mode, which would allow it to show up in Finder. There might be a setting on the camera you can change to get it to work. However, if you use a card reader you should have no problems
By the way, I'm about to get that camera.. does everything work nicely apart from this issue?

Menus on some web sites don't work

I have just activated 2 new Lumia 520 phones with Windows 8 mobile. (updated to Amber)
When browsing the web, the menus don't work on a couple of web sites that I have written.
These menus use Javascript to show drop down lists and to navigate to the appropriate pages. When you click a link on the menu, the drop down menu appears for a couple of seconds, then disappears. Even in the couple of seconds that the dropdown appears, it can not be clicked.
Interestingly, these web sites also use javascript to open overlay pages when a thumbnail picture is clicked, This action works.
These menus have been regression tested in all the major browsers and they work on a PC, Mac, iPad and Android but seem to fail on Windows 8 mobile.
I searched and can't see any option that allows me to enable or disable Javascript.

Canon Lide 35 No Longer works in Snow Leopard

Here some more specific results on what happens when you try to scan with the Lide 35 in Snow Leopard.
1) The ONLY choice is to use image capture. Canon software doesn't work
2) Detect Multiple images is completely broken
3) The image size is super small. )i e, the dimensions settings don't work right
4) You have to increase the resolution to 600 to 1200 in order to "fool" Image Capture into scanning at the proper size
5) As soon as you select Ovweview a second time, it stops working and gives you a blank scan. You have to log out and back in to get it working.
6) The only "workaround" I've found is to scan the same dimensions every time at 1200 dpi and edit and save the photo in another app.
I realize the Canon Lide 35 is an older scanner, but please Apple, none of us want to buy a new scanner just because we upgraded to Snow Leopard.
I've spend an hour on the phone with Canon who tried to be very helpful. This happens on all my Snow Leopard Macs (I have three) and it seems clear that this is an Apple issue.

I can confirm what you are saying. I am running MacOS 10.6.2 on MacBook Pro and when I was trying to use my Canon LiDE 35 after installing "lide35osx7721en.dmg" and also "cstbosx5013ej4.dmg" I am still getting the error message "driver not found". The same Canon LiDE 35 still works beautifully with my PowerPC G4 under 10.4.11. - I am not sure whether there is any other software? The only oddity when installing those files I noticed was that "CNQL1208_ClassicNotSeize.kext" would not load...
I have no solution to offer at this stage other than using the old Apple... Anybody any ideas??

FCP X freezes and must force quit? I have a FCP installed on a Mac Mini (4 gig memory) and Lion OS. The import files are large ACVHD files from a Canon G10 camera. FCPX freezes and requires a force quit. Is anyone else having these problems?

I am using FCP X on both a MacMini (10.7 with 4 Gig memory) and an iMac (10.6 with 4 gig memory). The files are ACVHD files imported from a Canon G10 camcorder. FCP is constantly freezing and requiring a forced quit. Could it be that FCP X was not tested thoroughly for use on a Mac Mini?

I think it's safe to say that FCPX wasn't tested throroughly for use on anything.
with that out of the way, there are many variables as to what might cause your problems, but I don't think it's the mac mini as long as it meets the specified minimum requirements (especially the graphics card).
You might try creating a camera archive first and then importing from that.
The other issue might be the file format itself; you might need to use Clipwrap first. Maybe someone who has the same camera can chime in.

Macbook won't read card from Canon G10 in USB port

I can't copy Canon G10 RAW files from an SD card via a USB card reader onto an aluminum MacBook. I tried using Adobe Lightroom (the way I usually do this on another machine) to import the files but it couldn't recognize them. I tried to copy the files into a folder on the Desktop but I got a insufficient priveleges message. It seemed to copy the file names but tnot the files. When I tried to remove the card I got a "File is in use and can't be removed" message.
The card reader and the card work fine on a 24"Intel iMac.
Another USB card works fine in the card reader on the MacBook, too.
I'm puzzled.

Some added info, i CAN boot the bricked machine into Safe mode, but at reboot I get stuck in the same cycle again.
Oh, and in SafeBoot, the Macbook still tells me that no Airport card is installed, even though I know it does (and it's not knocked loose or anything).....
