CANON G12: screen and lens trouble shooting please?

Hi there!
I am hoping someone can help me out.
I get this dark line on the lef side of my screen + on the actual photos.
I also have an auto-focus problem now, when zooming closer to subjects it's unable to perform.
The store says it could be a small hair caught in the lens and that Canon would charge me 200-250 euros to fix it.
Is that what it is?
Did someone ever get the same problem?
How was it fixed?

One question I would ask is are you sure the lens cover is opening all the way? I had a similar line on my PowerShot A series camera. The lens did not fully open on the one side due to some fine particles of dirt in the lens mechanism. I used some compressed air for electronics and cleaned that dirt out of the mechanism, which resolved the issue.
However, if you are having focus issues, it sounds like there could be something like a hair stuck in the barrel of the lens, but for it to show a line on the images, that could be near the filter that protects the image sensor or inside the lens. I would think the camera needs to be opened to inspect the sensor as well as the lens. If the hair is indeed inside the lens, between the glass elements, that would be an expensive repair as the lens would need to be aligned after it was cleaned. If it's at the sensor, it should be a less expensive repair. Are you using the macro mode when you are shooting the close ups? Maybe you're getting a little too close. I tried zooming in for close up shots, but needed to use closeup filters because I was getting too close. Plus, I have accidently left the macro mode on when I didn't need it, and of course the camera would not focus properly. Just asking.

Since it will not boot then a hardware test can't be run. You could try FireWire Target Disk Mode and if it works then access from another Mac to run tests on the new drive. You could also try installing the OS X software from the host computer. If this does not work then professional help should be considered.

My HP deskjet 3070A is displaying the error code 0x19a0041, and no trouble shooting tips working.

I have spent all morning trying to resolve a problem on my hp deskjet printer (3070A) keeps displaying 'printer failure 0x19a0041' I have worked through all the trouble shooting tips on your website, but none seem to be working, so I tried to request a service, so then I tried to re-new my warranty, to request a service, but the system couldn't process my request. i tried to reset the printer as you said. it worked. and completely destroyed it. it keeps asking for the setup cartridges, which i still have, but they're not new ones. which i have found out, is a MUST for the printer to recognise them and start up. since you work for HP is it possible for me ask them to fix this without charge? i cannot check my warranty because my ORIGINAL problem which i was trying to fix does not allow me to install the driver for the printer and therefore i cannot detect whether my warranty still covers the product. Nor does the the printer allow me to scroll down and check my ID model number in the information menu for some insane reason, so i cannot even check manually....
ah the terms of use seem to say that i cannot ask them to fix this mess without charge. great.
do you have any advice?

What appears to be happensin is that before the actual download finishes/restore starts. the recovery mode is timing out. I would do a manual download using the instructions here:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Then place the iPod in Recovery mode and restore using the instructions in the link.

HP DV4-1155SE Black Screen and Wont Boot. Please Help!

Hello all I am working on an Hp DV4-1155SE. I have tested the memory modules, the hard drive and everything else that I can take out of the computer easily. Everything works but!, The laptop will not boot into the bios or anything else. Black screen, wont boot and i have the bios file that HP supplies on the support page of the site. I have looked at the instructions that a few people have posted about re flashing the bios and that does not seem to help me at all with this AMD processor. If anyone can please offer any help at all this would be greatly appreciated.

My problem started before the bios-screen.
This is what I tried this evening:
- Disconnected all non-essential devices...no effect.
- Cleared the CMOS...system booted to OS! Screens still garbled!
- Put in an older graphics-card...No artifacts!
- Put my MSI NX6600GT (AGP) back in...screen grabled while booting. Once in OS everything
looks fine at first. Later I noticed some odd random pixels. Playing movies is working fine.
Playing 3D games results in all kinds of strange looking artifacts.
- Installed the latest NVidia- drivers...no effect.
Is my problem still MOBO related or Graphics Adapter?
Any further advice?

My macbook pro 15" is taking lots of time to start and it shows some blueish purple screen and some graphics error please help

I have bought macbook pro 15" i7, 4gb ram, 500 gb hdd in the month of March year 2011. I have used it just for watching movies, surfing net and writing script on final draft software. Just two week back I started using final cut pro to edit my short film but suddenly the screen of my macbook turns black and it shuts down. After few minutes I pressed the start button but it took lots of time and open with blue-purple screen. It also get heat very soon. I don't know what the problem is. Please help.

CPU upgrade failed! Help Trouble shoot please!

I have presario c500,
celeron M 520 @ 1.6ghz 512mb 80hdd, upgrade to
Pentium M T2080 @ 1.7ghz Dual Core 2gb 320hdd.
Bios update to F.24
Have a second presario C501nr
Celeron M 430 @ 1.7ghz 1gb 80hdd, upgradING to
Pentium M T2060 @ 1.6 Dual Core 2gb 160hdd
Bios update to F.24
but the CPU upgrade failed, nothign on screen.
Reseated RAM and CMOS battery
Swap parts with working upgrade pc
CPUID-Z shows everything similar except just one thing.
One of the nortbridge has ver 1.0, one has no version.
What's preventing from upgrading? I'm thinking of degrade the bios to previous ver.

I can't find the reset firefox command button - even after trying the menu and the trouble-shooting page as per the directions.

I want to reset firefox but all I get to after following the directions in Mozilla support is every more descriptions/explanations of what the commands mean. But I never get to the actual command 'reset firefox'. Where is it?

So... is the button missing? Open the support page using either:

The Reset button usually is in the upper right corner of the page in its own little box. Missing?

I had this exact same problem because the router i had in my house was having interference issues and the speed was too slow to do it.
I would download a speedtest app on your iPad and see how fast your internet is. I think the app is called speedtest in fact.

Neither of my iPods will connect to iTunes.. iTunes recognizes that there's an iPod for each.. but that it can't open it in iTunes.. they were both connecting fine prior to the last update. went through the list of trouble shooting.

Since the last update, I iTunes pops up with an error message when I connect both iPods.. the older Nano (4th or 5th generation) will show up as a dirve on Windoes.. but the new Nano (the latest generation) will show up as a dirve until the error message pops up on itunes.. then it dissapearsll.. and both get the same error message.. that itunes detects an ipod, but it can not be identified properly.. it suggest I unplug and replug. (done that several times) or the uninstall and reinstall iTunes (won't work either) .. and the trouble shooting isn't changing anything.

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

Please clarify... Does the screen look "normal" (and is it turned "on") when connected? When you disconnect it, "lines appear across the screen"? If it "wont turn on," how are there lines (or anything) appearing on the screen?

Check if this helps:
Restoring the BIOS
If it is blinking 3 times it usually indicates memory issue..So you can try reseating the memory modules or try one memory at a time in each slot..
