Canon i-sensys LBP7750Cdn

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but hope someone can help.   Just upgraded my Mac after 8 yrs to 27"iMac i7 processors with 8Gb Ram running 10.7.3.  Bought the above printer and initially couldn't get it to print at all and then only in B/W.  Have looked at some of the other discussions and followed various bits of advice.  Have now been able to get it to print in colour when connected directly to iMac but not when connect airport base station.  Keep getting message saying "Cannot communicate with the printer, or the printer is not supported. If the printer is supported, check the printer connection and add it again. Then, if the Print dialog box has a [Printer Info] button, acquire the printer information.: 10322"
I can get it to print low resolution B/W when connected to airport using generic drivers but having bought a colour printer that's not what I want!
Canon website support confuses me.  I've gone to software updates and there appear to be 2 for this printer.
Canon Macintosh PS PPD File v3.15 for Mac OS X
Canon UFR II / UFR II LT Printer Driver v2.30 for Macintosh
I've downloaded both but am using the latter as my print driver.
All suggestions gratefully received.
I also looked at my airport to see if there was firmware to upgrade but apparently not.

The UFR2 driver will not work when you have the printer connected to the USB port on the Airport Extreme. This is due to limitations in the UFR2 driver.
But the LBP7750Cdn is a network printer, so it instead of connecting the USB cable to the Extreme, get an Ethernet cable and connect this from the printers Ethernet port to one of the spare Ethernet ports on the Extreme. By default the printer is set to DHCP so it should acquire an IP address from the Extreme automatically. When it has you will need to determine what that IP address is so that you can create a printer queue on the Mac using the UFR2 driver, which will work correctly with the printer now connected to your local network. As to how to find the IP address, you should be able to print a network configuration page via the buttons on the LBP. If you are not sure how, then let me know and I will download the user guide and reply with the steps.
Once you have the IP address you can then add the printer by selecting Add Printer and then the IP icon, following by selecting LPD in the protocol menu. You then enter the IP address, leave the queue name blank, change the Name to something meaningful, like LBP7750, leave Location empty and then in the Print Using menu, choose "Select Printer Software" and browse to the Canon LBP7750 UFR2. Click Add to complete.
I can get it to print low resolution B/W when connected to airport using generic drivers but having bought a colour printer that's not what I want!
This will be the Generic PCL Laser Printer driver included with the OS. By default, this is set to 300dpi but can be increased to 600dpi via the printer menus. But it will only ever print in black & white. It doesn't supporting colour. A better option would be the Generic Postscript driver. This will print in colour but to work it requires the printer to support Postscript, and I believe this is an option for the LBP7750.

Canon Macintosh PS PPD File v3.15 for Mac OS X
Canon UFR II / UFR II LT Printer Driver v2.30 for Macintosh
I've downloaded both but am using the latter as my print driver.
The first one is the Postscript PPD and as mentioned above, this would require the LBP7750Cdn to support Postscript and that appears to be an option for this model. For the record, if your LBP7750 did have the Postscript option installed, then this would work with the printer connected to the USB port of the Extreme.
I also looked at my airport to see if there was firmware to upgrade but apparently not.
It would not help your issue even if there was a firmware update available. The issue is the UFR2 driver and the printer connected to the Extreme's USB port.
I trust the information above will help you. Reply if you have more questions.

  • Problems with Canon i-sensys LBP7750Cdn.

I am having ongoing issues with my Canon i-sensys LBP 7750Cdn printer.  PAHU kindly gave me advice to get it up and running using the UFR ii driver, however since then I have been trying to print PDF documents off the web and these will not print. Either I get nothing printed or pages are dropped from the printing.  I have tried printing from preview but it doesn't have any text on the pages which come out from the printer.  The only way I have been able to print is to delete the adobe internet plug-ins from the library ( on the advice of another member of the community) but then any text in the document headers or footers doesn't  print properly.  It comes out as letters and symbols unrelated to what should be there.
PAHU recommended postscript as being preferable when using OSX, however when I connect the printer throught the USB to the airport base and select the PS driver I can't print at all.  I get an error message on the printer saying cannot start job which according to the manual means "The specified emulation does not exist." I'n not sure what this means.
I would really like to be able to print pdf of f the web in their entirety, and just have my printer functioning fully.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have got a few more sites to print pdf files but am still having difficulties with a few.  The message which appeared in the printer utility was
    Library/Printers/Canon/UFR2/Cores/cupstomcdufr2/Contents/MacOS/cupstomcdufr2 failed
The cupstomcdufr2 is a transport protocol. What the UFR2 driver does is take the spool file and move it from the core printing system on the Mac and pass it through to its own mechanism for sending the file to the printer. As to why this only occurs on certain files is the puzzle. You could try using Disk Utility to run a repair disk permissions. Another thing you could try is for these documents, use Adobe Acrobat and from the Acrobat print dialog, select the Advanced button. From the new window that appears you can then enable the "Print as image" checkbox.

WIth regard to PS what is the kit you refer to and how would I know if it is available on my machine?  There is a PS driver for the UK so I would imagine it should be an option.
To check if the PS kit (sales code PS ROM-A723) is available for sale in your region, you should probably contact your local Canon support (or who you bought the printer from).
To check if the LBP has the PS kit you can press the Utility button on the control panel. The menu entry will be Configuration Page. Press OK and arrow down to Yes when asked to execute. With the printed Configuration Page, you will see a number of headings. If you only see UFR II then it does not have the PS kit installed.
If you do see PCL in the Configuration Page, then this could be another option for you, as the Mac does have a Generic PCL driver. This only prints in b&w and by default prints at 300dpi, although you can change this to 600dpi via the print menus. Maybe for these documents you have trouble with you can use this Generic PCL driver if the PS kit costs too much.

Snow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc.

I have a multifunctional Canon i-SENSYS MF4140 and Mac Book Air Mac OS X10.7.3 Lion (11D50b). I have a problem because I can not scan, it is not driver for this application?

I see printer drivers from Canon for that printer for OS X 10.7. but not scanner drivers. If the MF4140 is not recognized by the Image Capture application and Canon technical support cannot offer any assistance, all I can think of to suggest is to try a third-party scan application such as VueScan:

They offer a free trial period so you can see if it works with your Canon.

  • Problem printing MAC-PC for a multifunction printer Canon i-SENSYS MF4018

In my office, installed a network of Macbook 466 (Mac OS X 10.6.2) and PC (WinXP SP3). We bought a new multifunction printer Canon i-SENSYS MF4018(MF4010). By PC connected multifunctional printer MF4018 (model has only a USB port).
On the PC works well. My MAC is the printer on the network, but at the beginning of printing an error: Canon UFR II Printer Driver An error occurred.: -50. Driver downloaded on the official web-site Canon - CANONUFRIIV2.00 EN.dmg.
Please, help set up a complete operation of the printer in my office from the MAC.
How to make it possible to print from MAC without any errors?

    Pahu and Eliask,
I just purchased a canon isense mf4018 for our office. We have a mac mini os x 1.5.8 and a pc windows xp sp3. we are experiencing a printing problem from the mini. we aren't using a network. we just swap the usb cable between computers when printing is needed. The error that occurs is 'load correct paper MP tray: ltr; cancel: sys. monitor.' This looks like it only happens when we print from Word for Mac when printing more than one copy of the document. Excel printed multiple copies fine. If i go to sys monitor and print status, I find the word doc option to cancel or continue print. I choose yes to cancel and it prints another copy of the doc. the error still exists. I go through that routine until all copies have been printed. Scanning doesn't work. I downloaded this driver http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0036890.asp?model=
    Thanks for the help

  • Problems with a Canon i-sensys LBP6000 printer!!! Help me please!!!

    Hello!
I just bought aprinter Canon i-sensys LBP6000 and I can make it work on my MacBook Pro(version 10.7.1). I downloaded the driver from the Canon website and I have installed it on my laptop very easyly.
    http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010907.asp
But the problem is that when I want to configurate the printer I go to: System Preferences/Print andScan/  I don’t have the option of Add “Moreprinters”, so I don’t know what to do!!!
Does anybody have the aome problem??? Can anybody help me please????
    Thank you very much!!!

When using your link it shows that the Canon Europe web site only has the v3.30 driver for the LBP6000. This driver does not support Lion.
So if you download this v3.36 CAPT driver from the Canon Australia web site, you will have the correct driver for Lion, and if you refer to the document "Registering_OS_X_Lion_en-uk_R.pdf", which is included with the driver download, it shows that you do not use More Printers but the IP > LPD protocol instead.

  • Problems with Canon i-SENSYS MF8030Cn and OS x Lion

I have a Canon i-SENSYS MF8030Cn  that ran perfectly before the OS x Lion upgrade. After the upgrade I have major issues with printing. The two errors I get is:
    1) First I get a new pop-up telling me to verify the ID and Password.
    2) OS x tells me that the printer has problems and that I should try and reconnect the printer to the power grid. And the printer just works fine, I tried it with a PC just berforhand.
    Anyone else has this problem?
    cheers

  • Can't print on Canon printer since 10.8.2

We have a Canon i-SENSYS LBP 5050n printer. When I upgraded my MB Pro to Mountain Lion, I could not print anymore, until we found a printer driver at Canon Australia's web site, version 3.55. Updating to 10.8.2 again leaves me without the chance to print: the document stays in the printer queue forever: for a while it looks like it migh porint, then it goes into pause mode. Resuming does not help either.
Where can I find a printer driver that allows me to print again, or what else can I do?
    Thanks for your help,
    Wladimir

Thanks a lot, Pahu, for your help. I just read the other postings, which seem to cover exactl the same problem as I have. I did check for similar threads before posting my question, but obviously I have missed that oen; sorry.
The CAPT backgrounder is running, then entry in System Information > Printers > Canon LBP 5050n > URI is cnbma://localhost:59687 and still it is not working.
Here are the contents of my ccpd.conf file:
    # Canon Printer Daemon for CUPS Configuration Data
    <Path>
    # CUPS configuration files Path
    #  Default  /
    CUPS_ConfigPath   /
    # LOG Directory Path
    #LogDirectoryPath /var/log/CCPD/
    </Path>
    # Printer entries
    #  Mapping each "Printer-Name" to "Printer Device Port".
    # The "Printer-Name" has to be identical to the CUPS printer queue name.
    #  For example, if you prepare a printer named "XXXX" as a CUPS printer
    #  queue name, and the printer is connected to the USB port "/dev/usb/lp0",
    #  you can use the following three lines example just by removing the
    #  comment symbol "#" of each line.
    #<Printer XXXX>
    #DevicePath  /dev/usb/lp0
    #</Printer>
    <Ports>
    # socket port
    UI_Port  59787
    # backend data port
    PDATA_Port  59687
    </Ports>
Some additiona information: the poster of the question in the other thread you informed me about, 6andalf, write that ever since updating to Mountain Lion he cannot print. The same happened to me, until I found CAPT 355 on Canon Australia's web site, as mentioned. When I updated to 10.8.1 I could still print, until I installed 10.8.2.

  • Canon LBP 6300dn

I've bought a Canon LBP 6300dn printer, and can't seem to find any drivers to get it going (I'm using OS X 10.5.8).  I contacted Canon and they suggested uninstalling then re-installing the printer drivers.  I've tried that, and tried downloading and installing CAPT v3.31, but it doesn't look like the driver for this printer is in there.
Also, since trying to install this printer, I can't print to my old printer (Canon MX 700).  Does anyone have any suggestions?

The problem is not with your printer but with CUPS.  I had the same problem with an upgrade that was done.  It worked before but did not work after the upgrade in CUPS.  I guess others are having problems as well as you can see in the link posted.

  • Wireless printing (AirPort Express & Canon LBP 3010) - Help needed!

    Hello All,
I have tried to find a solution to my problem in the other topics/post but i couldn't so I created a new one.
I would be very grateful if anyone can give me a solution or at least an advice.
I have purchased a Canon i-Sensys LBP 3010 laser printer (USB connectivity) intending to attach it to the AirPortExpress i already own. I checked that the printer has Mac drivers. I connected it to the EX and installed the driver (downloaded from Canon's website). Then from System Preferences -> Printer & Fax I clicked the add printer button. The dialog fond the printer correctly and displayed it (also found it is located on the airport express port). Now the problem is the system did not select a driver (none) and i couldn't select it myself too (it didn't exist in the drivers' manual selection list). When i disconnected the printer from the airport and connected it directly to the USB port of my computer (Mac Book Pro 17") and repeated the operation (This time using the manual of the printer for guidance) i added it successfully through the More Printers tab and selecting the Canon USB CAPT driver (obviously the one I initially installed)... The printer works fine that way.
Strange thing is, though the computer is recognizing the printer when connected to the AirPortExpress, the AirPort Utility shows NO printers in the list of connected printers to that devise!
So.. what am i doing wrong?

I think you might be in a tough spot with that Canon laser printer. The iFelix list of printers that have at one time worked with an Airport unit does not list the 3010--
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/1013.html
That's not a list of Apple-supported printers. Apple doesn't print such a list, nor does it really promise that any printer will actually work in this configuration. Some do. Many don't.
One thing you might do is to get another computer and connect the printer to that and 'share' the printer over the network. This might yield success, but I can't guarantee anything.

  • Canon MF4320d, share from Windows XP Prof

Is it possible to get work a printer share from Windows XP professional with Canon i-SENSYS MD4320d (USB-printer)?
I've installed the printer to my Windows computer. All of my computers are connected to a AirPort which share's my internet. Of course windows laptop finds the printer very easy, but Mac OS X does not..
Sharing a windows USB-printer is a bit tricky with Mac OS, is there a way to get share work with this printer?

    Hi there,
Looking at the Canon UK web site, it shows this model uses the Canon UFR2 driver on OS X. This driver does not work at all on OS X when it is connected to a Windows share.
You mentioned that you had Airport. You may find the MF works better when connected to the USB port of the AE. Although I have experienced problems previously with a mates MF4150 that was connected via an Airport Extreme. It used an earlier version of the UFR2 driver and it never recognised the MF when connected to the AE's USB port.
If you can connect the printer to your Mac and then share it to the PC, then this may be a better solution for you.
