Canon iP4000R - printing CDs & DVDs

Hi
Since upgrading to 10.6, I've been unable to print discs wirelessly using my Canon Pixma iP4000R.
After upgrading the drivers "Canon Printer Software Update 2.3", I can print wirelessly to A4 paper, but the DVDs printing just drags the DVD in, takes 5 mins to pretend to print and spits it out blank.
Using driver Canon iP4000R. I've used the Gutenprint version also with no luck.
Anyone else found how to fix this?
Ali

Hi there.
I have a Canon iP5200R and I can still print from Canon's CD LabelPrint application onto CD's via wireless. This was with the previous v10.26 driver and now with the v10.30 driver.
As a test, if you were to connect the printer directly to the Mac via USB, does the same issue exist with DVD printing? Just trying to work out if it could be a driver issue or a communication issue. Also, can you reply with what software and version you are using to print on the CD's.

I have both a APExpress and a APExtreme, an APExtreme card in both a mini and a G4 APB. WPA works great until I try to connect my Canon iP4000r WiFi printer to it. Called Canon and they said they cannot help me since the printer functions it just won't connect using WPA. They suggested not using security. This option is not what I want. Has anyone connected a WiFi printer to a WPA network? If so, how do I do it?

    Right a bit more info:

  • Canon ip4000r stopped printing over usb after update to 10.5.7

    hi there!
i have a canon pixma ip4000r which is connected to my macbook pro via usb.
since the update to 10.5.7 it stopped printing. printer's joblist receives a printjob, displays "printing" but nothing happens. i tried to reinstall the printer but systems preferences are running very slowly/freezing when i plugin the usb cable. when i unplug it everything runs normal.
in addition canons printer tool crashes while trying to connect to the printer.
i have some networkprinters (hp laserjet 4100n) installed as well but they are running fine.
    any suggestions?
    thanks,
    paul

    Hello Paul,
I installed the 7 update yesterday on my test Mini using the Combo installer and saw some interesting results.
First of all, any USB printer queue was removed from the Printers list. Only the Adobe PDF and network printer queues remained.
Also, a number of Canon BJPrinter files were updated and added, some of them later versions of existing files, such as the Canon IJ Printer Utility. The strange behavior here was that older versions of the same file were left in the same folder and this is what I believe could be causing you problems.
So, I would suggest you try the following.
    Unplug the iP4000 USB cable
Navigate to Mac HD/Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter and trash the entire contents of this folder.
Navigate to Mac HD/Library/Receipts and trash any Canon IP4000 files.
Empty the Trash and restart the Mac.
Run the iP4000R v4.8.3 driver installer again. This will add the files you need for your printer back into the BJPrinter folder.
Plug the iP4000 USB back into the Mac and see if the printer automatically adds to your printer list. It can take about a minute but if it doesn't then try to add it. Don't be surprised when you do try to add it you get a message stating the printer is already installed.

  • Print on dvd using Canon mx922

I am trying to print on dvd using Canon mx922.  Canon software (image garden and photprint ex) do not recognize printer using iMac running 10.7 and macbook air running 10.8.  Canon has no solution and referred me to Apple.  Anyone have a workaround? Any other software to try?
    Thanks.

When you select to add the printer and you see the little pop-up window under the plus button with a heading of Nearby Printers, don't select the MX. Instead, click on Add Printer or Scanner. Then with the Default Add printer window displayed, you should see the MX. It will show something like Bonjour Multifunction in the Kind column. Don't select this one. Instead wait several more seconds and you should see a second MX appear, this one showing Canon IJ Network in the Kind column. Select this and the Mac will state that it needs to get the supporting driver from Apple. Agree to this and after the driver has downloaded, you will have your alternate driver installed and ready to use.

  • Printing directly on CDs/DVDs on a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium printer??

I have the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium and was wondering if I can print on CD and DVD discs with this printer and How do I do this?? And if not how do I print on DVDs and with what HP product do I use for it??

HP does not currently produce any printers that can print on CD/DVD's which includes the 8600.
Take a look at the Epson XP-810.

  • Canon ip4700 printer

    Hi All
New to this forum, but not new to computers and printers.
I will try to make this as short as possible. I was given this Canon ip4700 printer. I was using a Canon MP530 for a long time and was very pleased with it, but felt it was getting a little tired, so I would use this new one I got.
I did a lot of printing on CD/DVD's with my old printer and it has always did a great job. So when I did some research on the new one and seen that it would print on CD/DVD's too I jumped for joy. There again I did my research on the ip4700 and went to the Canon site and downloaded all the drivers for it including the software for printing on CD's. I was thinking this great, everything was going smooth. I am running Win 7 32 bit. So I made sure I got all the right drivers for it.
After doing this I could not get it to print on CD's, it printed all the rest of the stuff just fine, printed plenty of test pages. I thought well maybe I got the wrong software, so I deleted it all and redid it, and I still had the same problem, no printing on CD's. So I contacted Canon and asked them what was my problem, and after several replies back they told me this printer is not designed to print on CD's, plain and simple.
But my question is this why do they sell the CD trays for it and have the software for it and the printer itself has the slot for the tray to slide into. ?  I have to believe what they are saying, since they make them and should know what they can and cannot do. Plus the fact I could never get it to work. And having a older MP530 printer that did this printing and have used it for several years, I felt I had a little knowledge of how to set it up and use this feature.
So I hope someone can shed a little light on this for me.
      Thanx.....Gunny

    Hi gunny!
Sorry if you misunderstood, the question I posed is not directed to you but to other readers who might have an answer. Did not think I needed to start a new thread since there was already one with this printer. Actually it is not only you who read the thread.
To you, I just wanted to mention that this printer can make the CD / DVD labels.
You wrote that Canon gave you an answer that is not possible, but it can be done.
    have a good time

  • Need to install Canon Network Printer drivers on server...?

I am about to add a Canon PIXMA iP5200R network printer to my intranet via its Ethernet connection. I have configured and tested printing sucessfully from my PowerBook G4 directly to the printer via my intranet after installing the necessary drivers and software from Canon.
Now I will like to use Mac OS X Server running on my Xserve G5 to manage the printer, and I do have some questions pertaining to this:
First question: since I don't think Canon supplies any PPD file for most of its printers, do I need to install the iP5200R drivers and Canon IJ Network Utility on the Xserve?
Second question: is there a Command Line Interface for Printer Setup Utility, or their relevant commands in CUPS, or do I need to use ARD to get the GUI of Printer Setup Utility on my Xserve?
Third question: after using the GUI or CLI of Printer Setup Utility to setup the printer on the server side, will this appear in WGM when I bring up the window to add a new Print Queue in Print service?
Fourth question: according to the Apple Print Service Documentation, if I share the Print Queue via IPP (I will only be turning this protocol on) and I have installed the Canon drivers and software on all the Mac (client) computers on the intranet, then I can use specific features of the Canon printer (such as direct CD/DVD Labeling), assuming if the Mac computers select this Print Queue via their Printer Setup Utility?
Fifth question: this Canon iP5200R printer has the ability to allow only certain computers to send print jobs to the printer via a table of either MAC ID or IP addresses, so if I enable this feature on the printer and limit to print jobs coming from the server only, I should be able to prevent user from bypassing the server to print, assuming I am also locking down the selection of printers in Print Setup using WGM?
    Thank you for reading.

  • Hello, I currently have a MacBook snow leapord and i'm trying to connect it with my Canon MP560 printer, i put in the CD and installed everything properly but now when i add a printer it says a Queue already exists, i click continue and nothing happens???

    Hello,
I'm using a MacBook Snow Leapord and I'm trying to connect it with my Canon MP560 printer/scanner.
I installed the CD and followed along with the manual and did everything it asked, at the end it told me it was finished.
So then I went to go print something and an error had occured so i went to the file menu on Microsoft Word for
Mac and clicked Print/Add Printer and then i click on the Canon MP560 series-1 as it was the only one to click on.
When I did it stated that I already has a Queue for this printer and if I'd like to add a new one so I clicked continue and nothing
    had happend. PLEASE HELP
    sincerely,
    Laura.

I would recommend to download the driver appropriate for your system from the Canon webiste or, after installing it, to run software update and it will detect it for you.
If you have the last driver appropriate for your system, you may wish to reset the printing system. To do this, go to Sys prefs/print and fax and, upon clicking minus button, also press Option/alt key. You will be asked to confirm, do it. Then, add the printer by pressing plus button, it should work now.
But, before doing this, download the last good driver, CDs usually contain outdated drivers.

  • Canon ip4000r won't install on MacBook Pro or MacBook Air with Snow Leopard

Our MBA, MBP, iMac and Mini all worked flawlessly with my Canon ip4000r while running Leopard. However, the ip4000r disappeared from all 4 with Snow Leopard. I have since downloaded and installed the updated drivers on all four machines, but only the iMac and Mini have detected and installed the ip4000r. The MBP and MBA both refuse to install the ip4000r.
The printer is detected by (and manageable/configurable by) the Canon IJ Printer Utility and Canon IJ Network Tool apps on both machines; however, whenever I attempt to add the printer, it is not detected by the Add Printer utility. I have downloaded and tried drivers directly from Canon (ip4000rosxcp102600ea8-2.dmg) and from the Apple support site (the 2.1 update) -- neither of which has worked. I have spent over a week on this and am at a loss as to why the printer installs on the desktop machines (iMac and the Mini), but not on the portables (MBP and MBA). Any ideas?
    Thanks!

The 10.26 driver includes a network protocol, canonijnetwork, that is used to advertise the printer on your wireless network. To add the network printer using this driver, you use the Default browser view. The previous method of More Printers > Canon IJ Network is not used anymore.
Note that if Canon IJ Network is still available on your Mac then it is a leftover from upgrading from Leopard. A clean install of 10.6 and v2.70 of the Canon IJ Network Tool will not add this view.
So with the 10.26 driver installed, select to Add and then the Default browser view. The printer can take as long as 20 seconds to appear. When it does appear, it will show its name with its MAC address in brackets, such as (00.00.85.xx.xx.xx). Also, in the Kind column, canonijnetwork will be shown. Select this entry and the Print Using menu should automatically change to Canon iP4000R.
If the printer does not show after 30 seconds then something could be blocking this. The built-in firewall, located in System Preferences > Security > Firewall, can stop the network printer being displayed. Also, the Parallels application, that lets you run Windows in a virtual machine on your Mac, is also known to stop the printer from being seen. If you do have Parallels, then you will need to disable the virtual network ports. Not quite sure how this is done but if you check this forum or the Parallels web site, you should be able to find the workaround.

  • Canon MG5350 printing problem: missing parts of the image

I am trying to print a DVD sleeve which includes text and image and only the text is printing correctly. I have done a nozzle check and a print head realignment, this hasn't solved the problem.
Here is a screenshot of the original .doc and below it, a scan of the image as it prints.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
UPDATE: I also deleted and re-installed the printer driver from the Canon site.
Then I tried to print something else and the FONT came out incorrectly.

I works ! Thanks for the tip.  What I did is install the FS-800 driver (since there is no FS-820) and it works (with the ljet4 version).  I was using the FS-850 version ... maybe my problem was from there !  Anyway ! Thanks, you pointed me in the good direction !
    Have a nice day !

    Hi.... Apple Support Communities...
I used Apple MacBook Air 2014 (13 inch) series with OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 version...
And I have a printer of Canon LBP2900...
My problem is that, I can't connect my Canon LBP2900 printer with my new OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 version.
My previous OS X Mavericks is working well with my Canon LBP2900 printer...
But when I upgrade it to OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 version, my printer is not working...
Anybody please help me how can i connect OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 version with my Canon LBP2900 printer....
Thanking you.... Your suggestion in this regards is highly appriciate...

Your first step would be to upgrade to Snow Leopard (10.6). To do that, you would need to purchase the Snow Leopard DVD. Following that you could determine how much further you could upgrade.

  • Printing CD & DVD labels

Hi. Does anyone know how to print CD/DVD labels in Leopard? I Have Avery inkjet CD labels and I am hoping that I can print using Pages '08 or something. Avery's advertised software on the back of the package is not mac compatible. Do I need any type of software or is it built into the operating system. I have a Canon ip4000 printer.
    Thanks

Hello, I have a Canon ip4300 and it comes with CD-LabelPrint. You can download this software directly from Canon at no cost.
Seems to me it's compatible with all Pixma CD-printing-capable models.
I don't recall of any CD-printing utility built into Leopard.

  • ?recs for "best" airport-capable color printer that prints CD/DVDs &

Can anybody please recommend the "best" *reliably airport-wifi-capable* color printer, that can do all of this:
print CD/DVD imagery directly onto discs
    print great photos
    has a copier/scanner/fax
I honestly don't know if such a thing even exists? I know that I've had some printers that dont work with the airport which is what I want to avoid
    thanks

I've just upgraded my 7 year old Canon bubblejet. I purchased the new Canon MP960 which did everything I wanted it to do bar faxing but that wasn't that big an issue for me. The most important thing was that it would be compatible with OS X Leopard - which I will be upgrading to when available.
I ran it through airport with no issues - printing anyways. To use the utlities I'd have to connect direct to my powerbook...a bit of an inconvenience but not insurmountable because I don't have high scanning demands.
Prints photo's like a dream...so I thought I was in heaven. Until I started printing off hi-res art (from illustrator and InDesign)...and I experienced colour reproduction issues. We're not talking the variances you get between screen/bubblejet/offset....we're talking major variances. Even after ensuring the colours were CMYK hues there were still issues. One piece of art was even set using a combo of RGB and CMYK colours....the neighbours can still hear me laughing in frustration.
If I colorsynced I'd get one colour, used the printer drivers another, used "none" yet another colour. Tried various media types and even when using the same setting they would come up categorically different.
2 hours on the phone with Canon and they could offer no suggestions apart from taking it back to where I got it from. So I took it there...and spent another 3 hours with them. They were kind enough to open a new printer and test that one out on their powerbooks....yet the new printer was even worse with colour registration. To cut a long rant short, I got a refund, am currently printerless and would only recommend the MP960 if you were using it for photo's or where the accuracy of the colour was not that important (e.g. if you were using it for business purposes, and you wanted your logo to print out as accurately as possible, then I'd find another printer until Canon get their act together).
The amusing part - my "on it's last legs el-cheapo" Canon had no issues with reproducing the colours accurately.

  • MG5420 Won't print on DVD, it always prints on paper

    Hello,
I purchased the MG5420 a few days ago as an upgrade to an older Canon printer.  90% of my printing is on DVD's / BLU Rays.  I got one to print, and that was all.  Now, whenever I try to print on a DVD, it always starts printing to paper.  From the pretty bad My Garden software (which I just downloaded the newest version), there is no option to choose paper size J or the disc as a media.
And to top it off, I have tried 3 third party DVD printing software, and they can't print properely on this printer.
Help please...I just want to print on DVD's.  I don't care if it never prints on any other media.

  • How to print to Canon CD printer directly from Photoshop?

I'm looking for a way to print CDs (to Canon ip8500 and ip4300 printers) directly from Photoshop. I'm on x64 where Canon's CD Lable-print won't run, besides which I'd much prefer to print from Photoshop anyway. Is there a plug-in, a work round, a clever trick?! Can anyone help at all?

That is an issue of the printer driver, so you will need to contact the printer vendor to see if they have a 64bit printer driver which includes the commands to activate the CD printing function (as far as I know, this requires activating a different part of the printer hardware, to use a CD tray)
Without an option in the printer software to use that CD tray, I don't think any program will work
