Canon IP4200 - AirPort Express - HP Notebook Windows XP

Hey guys,
I have just got an AirPort Express and an AirPort Extreme to set up my wireless network at home. Got everything working except printing wirelessly from my HP notebook.
I had installed the latest drivers for it from the download page at canon.com and followed the AirPort Express set up guide (the printer is hooked to the AirPort Express). The problem is that I can't print anything from the notebook despite de fact that I can get the printer working from my iMac.
But searching the forum I discovered that Rob Broadbent (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1242459&#1242459) got an IP4200 working by changing the Raw Port, but that didn't worked for me.
Can you guys help me?

  • Printing on a Canon Pixma MP600 via Airport Express from a Windows 2000 PC

Hi, I'm a Mac: I can print directly connected AND wirelessly to a Canon MP600 printer through Airport Express.
Hi, I'm a PC: I can only print when I'm directly connected to the printer.
Has anyone found a way to print to their Canon through Airport Express?

    Try these instructions first: http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/1006.html
Another route is to use Bonjour for Windows to be able to access the printer attached to the AirPort base station from your PC.
In addition, not all USB printers work with AirPort base stations for sharing. The following iFelix link provides an "unofficial" list of known compatible printers...and some workarounds.

Was the AirPort Express previously working with the PC using XP?
What service does the Express perform on your nework?
Is the indicator light on the AirPort Express green, slow blinking amber, or solid amber?
Please tell us about any troubleshooting steps that you have already performed, and what happened after each step.

  • Print thru Airport Express under Fusion/Windows XP

I have a MacBook Pro (10.5.2), Airport Extreme Base Station, and a new Airport Express with an attached HP color laserjet. No problem printing wirelessly from OS-X. However, also running Fusion with WinXP and have been printing from there for months before getting the Airport Express. But now that the printer is connected Airport Express, can't print from Windows even after downloading Bonjour for Windows and loading Airport Utility app under Windows. Fusion/Windows doesn't see the Airport Express, and consequently the printer. Does anyone know if there is a setting I'm missing in Fusion or somewhere else.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Airport express works with windows xp but not OS Tiger

    Hi all
    I’m a troubled man.
I have recently bought a new Mac pro along with an airport express. I am a first time user of Mac’s.
    Here is my problem.
I use a DSL modem and my airport express is connected with the LED indicator in solid green. When I try to connect using my user name and password the “searching for POPPE sever appears at the top of my screen.” And after a few seconds “could not find POPPE server. This happens all the time. I tried to get air tunes working but itunes could not detect my airport express.
Now since I’m an engineer I needed to run auto cad on my Mac so I downloaded Bootcamp, partitioned my Macpro hard drive and installed windows XP on my Mac book pro and to my surprise windows xp found my airport and connected to the server straight away. So I experimented and download the xp version of itunes and what do you know the xp version of itunes detected my airport express and everthing worked fine for Windows! This suggests to me that the problem lies with the mac software as the airport express is working fine. Whats going on! I do not understand.
When I go back to tiger it sees my airport but cannot connect. I run the airport assistant but it cannot detect my airport. I run the utility airport program but it cannot see my airport express. I go back to windows XP everything works fine???????
If you can come up with a solution to this strange problem I would be very grateful.
    Thanks

The user name and password may be just fine but the dialer software for OS X may be quirky to the point where it doesn't work with your modem through an Airport connection. My recommendation is to try uninstalling the DSL dialing software from the computer and setting up the Express to do the dialing for you. Your computer connection then becomes straight Ethernet.
If that doesn't work, have you checked to see if there's a newer version of the OS X dialing software available?

  • Does Airport Express work with Windows Vista?

Sorry if this has been asked a million times before but I have just bought Airport Express on Ebay as a Xmas present for my brother but just realised that it might not be supported for Windows Vista.
Can someone shed some light on this for me please?
    Thanks in advance

  • Need help setting up Airport Express A1084 in Windows 7 via Netgear WNDR4500 wireless router

Hello All. I bought a used Airport Express A1084 off the net. Never had one before. My intention is to remotely control (via my iPhone using Apples Remote app or possibly XBMC) a "pc with music" and stream thru the AE connected to a boombox. I want to be able to take AE and boombox to the front yard, back yard, garage, or wherever my Netgear WNDR4500 will reach.
So far I have hit the reset on the AE and while holding, plugged it in to power (still holding) until the green light blinked. I let it go. Waited for it to complete booting (slow blinking yellow/amber light). The AE did not show up in Airport Utility ver 5.6.1. I uninstalled that version and installed older Airport Utility ver 5.4.2. Same results. I power cycled the router, turned off the Norton 365 firewall, and still get nothing. At one point though, I walked away for a while (an hour or so), came back and saw the AE listed in the left window pane of Airport Utility. I thought maybe I just didn't wait long enough so I clicked Manual Setup and it started to read the AE but Errored 10057. I tried again and got same error. I refreshed and the AE was gone.
Can someone tell me how to correct this so I can confirm I didn't buy a "brick"?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tom

Just so you are aware, the A1084 AirPort Express is a 802.11b/g wireless router that can only operate on the 2.4 GHz band. Regardless, it can be configured to join the wireless network provided by the Netgear as long as that network is configured to be backwards compatible with 802.11g clients. However, in the long run for performance, you do NOT want any non-"n" wireless clients connecting to your Netgear's network.
The 5.6.1 version of the AirPort Utility for Windows does not support the non-"n" version of the AirPort base stations. You would need to use an earlier version that will still run on Windows 7.
One thing to try would be to temporarily connect the Express directly to your PC using an Ethernet cable, and then, try accessing it with the AirPort Utility. If you are still unable to do so, you may have gotten yourself a defective unit.

  • Can I stream AirTunes to my Airport Express and my windows media center?

Hello all, I am just about to install a windows media center in my lounge room and I would like to know how I can stream from my office mac to not only my airport express in the dining room, but my new windows box in the lounge.
I have iTunes installed and a wireless card on the PC and speakers attached, so just wondering how I can stream from the iMac in the office to both devices? Any advice and tips? I love streaming from my iMac to the dining room, just want to be able to get the media center in on the action now
    Surely this is possible?
    Thanks,
    Matt

To the best of my knowledge, there isn't an easy way to stream iTunes from a Mac to a PC in the manner you desire, with the PC essentially emulating an Airport Express.
What you want to do is supported by the third party utility Airfoil (see http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/ ) if the sending and receiving computers are both Macs, but I don't think the Windows version of this utility supports this feature.
I suppose you could use third party software to set up your Mac so that it streams music over your network, in a manner that your PC and (for example) Windows media player could receive - but that is a solution beyond the scope of this discussion forum.

  • Adding Airport Express to Existing Windows Wireless Network

My fiance has an existing Windows wireless network. I have an Airport Express I want to add to the network so I can "broadcast" my iTunes (or her's) through a powered speaker system in another room?
My question is...is that possible? And if so, how?
I've tried running my Airport Setup Assistant and restarting the Airport Express to no avail and would appreciate any suggestions.

Connect to the wireless network connected to the net (ie the (so-called) Windows wireless network**.
Having hard reset the Airport Express, run the Assistant and configure a new base station and configure it to connect to the existing wireless network.
** There is no such thing as a Windows wireless network, as 802.11b/g is the same standard used by Apple and other wireless router manufacturers, it is not Windows specific in any way.

  • Anybody use an Apple AirPort Express Base Station (windows)

    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB...mco=MTIxODk3Mw
Im thinking about getting one of these and just wanting people opinions on it working with windows.
Just im a little confused, can i use it as a wireless router insted of my net gear, or will i still have to use my net gear router. My internet comes from the telephone wire if that helps?
    Many thanks James

Hello jshrubb. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Since you didn't include the model of your Netgear router, it will be a little hard to determine if the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) could replace all of its functions.
So, here's what the AirPort Express is, and is not to help you decide:
o The AX is an Internet wireless router.
o The AX does not have a built-in modem: DSL, ADSL, Satellite or cable ... so one of these will still be required.
o The AX does not have a built-in Ethernet switch. It does have an Ethernet port, but that ports primary function is to be connected to the modem. However, it could be used to connect a wired client, but only if the AX is reconfigured as either a remote or relay base station in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS). The bottom-line here is that if you need to support wired clients, the AX would not be the appropriate choice for your network.
o The AX does support iTunes audio streaming so that when connected to either a pair of powered speakers or an audio system, you can stream iTunes to speakers wirelessly.

  • Airport Express Slow With Windows on Mac

I'm running a Macbook with both Windows (via Bootcamp) and Mac. I just installed the Airport Express and set it up as my router. So far, when on the Mac side, the speed is fine when accessing the internet. However, I'm on the Windows side, the internet speed is very slow. The only other piece of information I can supply is that I'm using WPA security, rather than WEP. How can I fix this problem and make my Windows internet as fast as it is on the Mac side?

What I want to know is will the photo editing software I have installed for my mac run if/when I boot up as windows?
If you're using Boot Camp, no. If you're using an emulator such as VMware Fusion, yes.

  • Airport Express and Bootcamp Windows 7

    I have a Macbook, purchased Dec 09
    Airport Express Mar. 2011
June, 2011, installed Bootcamp, Windows 7. Cannot access the internet from Windows. I note that the Airpot Ex I have is intended for XP and Vista--W7 was not out yet. Do I need a new Airport Express? Or?

This is not an issue with the Airport Express, your Windows OS is likely missing the drivers it needs.
You need to download and install WindowSupport software and drivers. Reboot your computer to Mac OS X and open Boot Camp Assistant. Click Continue on the introduction and ONLY select "Download the Windows support software for this Mac". Click Continue again, and next select the method you would like to save the software. After the download has completed, reboot computer to Windows OS. Open the WindowsSupport folder you downloaded to a disc or drive, and open Installation. Follow through the on-screen instructions, and after the computer restarts you should have internet access.
