Canon ip4700 printer

Hi All
New to this forum, but not new to computers and printers.
I will try to make this as short as possible. I was given this Canon ip4700 printer. I was using a Canon MP530 for a long time and was very pleased with it, but felt it was getting a little tired, so I would use this new one I got.
I did a lot of printing on CD/DVD's with my old printer and it has always did a great job. So when I did some research on the new one and seen that it would print on CD/DVD's too I jumped for joy. There again I did my research on the ip4700 and went to the Canon site and downloaded all the drivers for it including the software for printing on CD's. I was thinking this great, everything was going smooth. I am running Win 7 32 bit. So I made sure I got all the right drivers for it.
After doing this I could not get it to print on CD's, it printed all the rest of the stuff just fine, printed plenty of test pages. I thought well maybe I got the wrong software, so I deleted it all and redid it, and I still had the same problem, no printing on CD's. So I contacted Canon and asked them what was my problem, and after several replies back they told me this printer is not designed to print on CD's, plain and simple.
But my question is this why do they sell the CD trays for it and have the software for it and the printer itself has the slot for the tray to slide into. ?  I have to believe what they are saying, since they make them and should know what they can and cannot do. Plus the fact I could never get it to work. And having a older MP530 printer that did this printing and have used it for several years, I felt I had a little knowledge of how to set it up and use this feature.
So I hope someone can shed a little light on this for me.
  Thanx.....Gunny

Hi gunny!
Sorry if you misunderstood, the question I posed is not directed to you but to other readers who might have an answer. Did not think I needed to start a new thread since there was already one with this printer. Actually it is not only you who read the thread.
To you, I just wanted to mention that this printer can make the CD / DVD labels.
You wrote that Canon gave you an answer that is not possible, but it can be done.
have a good time

  • Print jobs come out as blank pages with Windows 7, Bonjour & Canon iP4700

    Hi there,
I have a Macbook Pro with OSX 10.6.1 and have a Canon iP4700 inkjet printer connected to this via USB and this works fine.
I've shared the printer from the Mac so that I can print to it from a Dell laptop on the same home network which is running Windows 7 RC.
I've installed the Canon print driver (I used the one for Vista as it was the closest match) on the Windows 7 laptop, then I installed Bonjour. I used the 'Add a printer' shortcut icon on the desktop and it saw the Canon printer and I added it.
I thought all was working well, except whenever I try and print to the printer form the Windows 7 laptop, it just prints a blank page instead of the text I have on the page.
Has anyone got any advice for getting this working properly?
    Thanks,
    Stephen

I had the same problem, however I am running XP. Also, I was using a separate program to manage my wireless connection on my PC called 'Wireless Configuration Utility'. I simply disabled this utility and used the Wireless Network Connection utility that came with Windows and the problem was solved.

  • Canon ip4700 amber lights blink 5 times will not print, 4 years old, help please

Canon ip4700, amber lights flash 5 times, printer will not print, any advise appreciated

This issue has been resolved - my Support Advisor, Edgar, was able to discern what was causing the problem.
It appears that, despite years of never experiencing this, one of the latest ipod updates actually altered my device's personal settings and changed it to "Manual" for all synchronizing; even performcing Factory Restores did not change it back to being automatic.
My ipod is working as good as ever now thanks to Edgar. If anyone else is having this problem, please make sure you check your device's settings in iTunes and see if "Manual" is checked - even if you never changed the settings yourself and have no reason to suspect that to be the problem, as was the case here. If it is checked - uncheck it to enable automatic syncing.
So relieved this was not a much more serious problem. I've missed having my music on the go. Thanks, Edgar!

  • IConnect and Canon iP4700 series

    My system is:
    MacBook Pro with 10.6.4
    EPSON Stylus COLOR 880
    Canon iP4700 series
    iConnect
    My problem:
I want to connect 2 printers with iConnect.
The connection with my first printer Epson was successfull.
The problem starts when I tried to connect my second printer Canon.
Is the printer of Canon compatible with iConnect ?
When I try to add the printer, he does not appear in the printerlist.
I get the following answer, but when I want to chose a printermodel he does not accept the chosen driver
Does there not exist a driver from Gutenprint?
Can I use another printerdriver from another brand to connect my Canonprinter?
With the attached harddrive all other functions works good.
My main reason of buying iconnect was to be able to print in my wireless network.
    Thanks for your help

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
The Canon printer driver cannot be used when you have the printer connected to the USB port of a 3rd party print server. It will work when the printer is connected to an Apple Extreme or Express USB port, but not any other brand.
For these types of connections you need to use either the Gutenprint driver or PrintFab. Looking at v5.25 of Gutenprint, the iP4700 is not yet listed as a supported model - it is a very new model after all. The previous model, the iP4600, is listed and this may work for you. The caveat with finding another compatible model is the types of inks used by the printer. If the supported driver uses the same inks as the unsupported model, then there is a good chance the alternate driver will work.
If you cannot find a compatible model within the Gutenprint driver suite, then you could look at using [PrintFab|www.printfab.net] as the iP4700 is listed as a supported model. Note that there is a cost for PrintFab, although there is a 30 day trial version available. So you could at least try this driver suite and decide if you want to pay for it or wait until Gutenprint releases another update that does support the iP4700.

  • How to install Windows 7 64 bit driver for Canon i9100 Printer?

When I try to install my Canon i9100 printer on my HP laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Windows cannot locate a driver.  Visiting the Canon website, I find an update module for the Windows driver.  Canon says the printer MUST be installed using Windows Updater before their driver update can be installed.  I have tried everything, but I cannot get Windows to find a driver.  Windows Updater says that my computer is Up To Date.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you,
    David

    Hi Honeycutt,
The Windows 7 driver for your i9100 is only available from Microsoft through Windows Update.  Please try Microsoft's web page for assistance with troubleshooting this:

  • Unable to load Canon MP160 printer driver

I've had the hardest time using my Canon MP160 printer on my iMac (Mac OS 10.5). In fact, I'm not able to print at all.
I have the printer connected via USB. It always has been. However, it only stopped working recently.
I downloaded the drivers for the printer and scanner from Canon's web site. However, when I attempt to load the printer driver, the "Installing Canon IJ Printer Driver" window appears. It gets to the "Finishing Installation" part in the process. But it "hangs" at some point and does not complete. I've tried it twice. It hung at two different points in the process. I tried letting it run overnight. That was no good.
I've also looked for the "Printer Setup Utility" and can't seem to find that anyplace. I'm wondering why I can't find that.
If anybody could help me solve this, I'd be so thankful.

Hello marconi10. Welcome to the HP Forums. I understand you are unable to install your printer on one computer, over a wireless connection. I'm going to suggest a very simple workaround, which if it works, will remove any complicated troubleshooting that would be necessary:
Please try installing the printer with a USB connection. If this does not work, you know that there is an issue occurring with the computer.
If this does work, the printer will be successfully installed. At that point, you can change the connection type from USB to wireless. For more information on how to do this, please reference this HP document: Convert from a USB connected printer to wireless
If the printer will still not connect wireless, this will point out a computer issue. For additional information and troubleshooting, relating to the inability of installing the printer over a wireless network, please reference this HP document: 'Unable to Find Printer' Error Message Displays on the Computer During Wireless Network Installation
Please respond with the results of your troubleshooting. I'm only here to help!

  • Canon MF4150 Printing

I just bought the Canon MF4150 Printer. I plugged it into the Airport Extreme N Base Station. The base station recognizes the printer as the 4100 series and identifies it as the Canon printer.
When I try to go into Printer Utilities and add the printer, in the default browser of the print utility under system preference I see the printer and it shows the connection type as "Bonjour". I try to add the printer, but it requires drivers. I downloaded the drivers off of the Canon website, but it doesn't seem to work or recognize printing over wireless or bonjour.
The selection box "Print Using" Does not contain the proper drivers, but only contains the Mac OS X GIMP drivers. What can I do? When I connect the printer directly via USB, the Canon drivers that I installed "UFR II" appears.
I really want this to work!!! Any ideas?? Is there a way to get this printer to print over wireless connected directly to the Airport Extreme Base Station?

My setup was similar to yours. In the printer browser it shows the Canon MF4100 series, I selected it, and it shows
Name: Canon MF4100 (which is correct)
Location: "My Airport Base Station Name" (which is correct)
Print Using: "Please select a driver or printer model"
The "Print Using" seems to be the problem. I don't see the drivers that I loaded for the USB, and I tried "Auto Select" but it bounces back to "Please select a driver or printer model". I tried using one of the GIMP, but it does not work. I also tried "Other" and a dialogue box popped up allowing me to choose a driver. I looked everywhere for the print driver, but there wasn't a single file I could select to get it going. Any ideas?
BIG SIGH, This is a Mac, and I love it! Why does Canon make it so difficult?!

  • Canon S750 printer not working after upgrading to Leopard

Leopard is brilliant, and everything works after I upgraded from Tiger except... my Canon S750 printer gives error messages and fails to print. This is VERY annoying. I can't seem to find an S750 driver for OS X 10.5 on Canon's web site. So, what to do next? Just wait, and keep logging on to Canon's web site in the hope that, one day, the driver will be there? I can't find any official statement from Canon as to what they're up to. Are they currently working on drivers for Leopard? Do they have any projected "release dates"? Are they at all interested, or would they prefer to sell me another printer perhaps? Any information on what I should do now will be gratefully received. Thanks.

UPDATE... my S750 printer has suddenly started to print OK! This is rather bizarre, since I've not re-booted, haven't un-installed/re-installed the printer. End of topic!

  • Can't get canon LPB6300 printer to work on a second machine

    Hi
The printer I will refer to is reachable in my local network over ethernet and has a fixed IP address.
I got cups to work with my canon printer this afternoon on one of my machines. I searched the whole internet for howtos and I think the steps that finally got the thing working were the following:
    1. Install capt-src from aur
    2. Add myself to the lp group and relogin
    3. Connect the printer and restart cups
    3. Perform the following two commands:
    sudo lpadmin -p LBP6300 -m CNCUPSLBP6300CAPTK.ppd -v ccp://localhost:59687 -E
    sudo ccpdadmin -p LBP6300 -o net:192.168.1.2
    and the result is:
    sudo ccpdadmin -P
    CUPS_ConfigPath = /etc/cups/
    LOG Path = None
    UI Port = 59787
Entry Num : Spooler : Backend : FIFO path : Device Path : Status
    [0] : LBP6300 : ccp : //localhost:59687 : net:192.168.1.2 :
    4. Start ccpd daemon
These steps worked on one of my machines. I thought I could perform the same steps on another machine to get it to work but until now I had no success. I tried to print a test page but cups immediately changed the new job to "completed" without printing something out.
The packages installed on the archlinux systems are the same, at least the one i checked (-Qs cups, foomatic, dependencies from aur for capt-src).
    yaourt -Qs capt
    local/capt-src 2.50-9
Canon CAPT Printer Driver for Linux. Compiled from source code.
    yaourt -Qs cups

    extra/cups-filters 1.0.29-3
    OpenPrinting CUPS Filters
    extra/cups-pk-helper 0.2.4-1

    multilib/lib32-libcups 1.6.1-1

The CUPS Printing System - client libraries and headers
    extra/pycups 1.9.62-1
    Python CUPS Bindings
    extra/system-config-printer 1.3.12-2
A CUPS printer configuration tool and status applet
    yaourt -Qs foomatic
    extra/foomatic-db 1:4.0.17_20120712-1

Before you post some links, I've already checked:

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CanonCaptDrv190
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Canon_LBP2900
I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.. Can anyone help?
    Cheers

Thanks for your link but i don't think it has something to do with relinking libraries since i never had to to that on my first machine. I'm currently pursuing a different approach: I'm comparing the files used by ccpd and cups on both machines with each other. These are the results:
On the machine with working capt service:
    http://pastebin.com/Fyif7zxz
    http://pastebin.com/n0KQj14z
On the machine with defect capt service:
    http://pastebin.com/rtUW5Gfm
    http://pastebin.com/vh94E3Jv
One thing that i noticed is the two libraries resolv and nss which are used on the defect machine. Could it be that?

  • Canon MF4400w Printer - "Filter" failed error. Can't scan either.

    Hi,
I work in a wholly Mac environment. We have around 10 plus Macs in the office, most of them running 10.8.3 (the latest I believe). All Macs are able to print to our Canon MF4400w Printer fine EXCEPT mine.
I've had a Canon technician come by. We've installed/reinstalled the canon drivers multiple times, tried via USB/Wireless, and I personally looked up these forums to try and diagnose the problem myself. As far as I can tell, it has something to do with "capdftopdl", whatever that is.
This is a new iMac that was purchase a few weeks ago. I've used migration assistant to transfer my files from my old Mac to this new one via LAN cable. Printing from this Mac has always resulted in the "Stopped. "Filter" failed." error. It has never printed successfully despite trying multiple different drivers.

    Things I have tried:
    1) Some threads suggest that it may be a corrupted Font problem. Followed steps suggested by thread, no luck.
    2) Some suggested it was a setting under network. Followed those steps, still same problem.
    3) Setting paper print size to A4/Letter
    Please help!

Can you reply with your email address, but in the form of user_name at domain_name dot com (dot country if applicable). I have some files to send you to replace the Canon files that are possibly causing the error.
Also, for your reference, you posted in the Lion forum but you have Mtn Lion. If you posted in the Mtn Lion forum I would have got to you sooner.

Soution: Delete the printer and add the same printer back in, therefore creating a new print queue.

I have a MacBook Air (10.8.2) connected to a Canon MP530 printer.    I am unable to scan documents as it appears my Mac does not support MP Navigator.   Any ideas?     I have made an inquiry to Canon but have not received any answers yet.

Why do you say your MBA won't support it? MP Navigator for OS X 8 and the MP530 is available here.

  • My new Canon Pixma 7250 wireless printer can no longer find my wireless network. My MAC is, Yosemite 10.10.2. I've run diagnostics and Canon LAN printer setup routine many time. Is there a solution? Can anyone help?

My new Canon Pixma 7250 wireless printercan no longer find my wireless network. (It worked fine until recently) I have a Yosemite 10.10.2. I've run diagnostics and the Canon LAN printer setup routine many times. Is there a solution? Can anyone help?

Turn of the MG and unplug the power cord. Leave it off for about a minute and then reconnect the power cord and turn the power back on. Wait while the device attempts to reconnect to your wireless network - the blue wifi symbol on the MG will flash and then stay on once it has connected. If it keeps flashing then you will have to reconnect the MG to your wireless access point via the control panel on the MG.

  • Canon MP560 Printer is not detected by System Preferences

    Hi everyone,
I am using a 2010 Macbook Pro with OS X Version 10.7.5, I have had this Canon MP560 Printer for about 2 years now and it has been working perfectly until lately when it starts to keep on returning "a communication error has occured" whenever I tried to print something.
I have read through the forum and noticed that people have experienced the same thing as me.
So for me, I have tried the following solutions:
    1. Checking if the LAN connection is working and printing the LAN test page from printer. It does print ad says that wireless LAN is enabled an active.
    2. I deleted the printer and scanner from System Preferences and try to re-add it
    3. Update my software
When I tried to re-add it, there is no printer detected. I tried doing the step-by-step that PAHU recommended that worked for some one but unfortunately it does not work for me. My printer still does not appear when I tried to look up a printer.
(Here is the step by step that I followed:
The printer component of the MP560 can take longer to appear than the scanner component. The scanner uses Bonjour to advertise itself on the wireless network, while the printer component uses a proprietary protocol called "canonijnetwork". If you select to add a printer and have the Default Add Printer view open, you will see the MP560 as Bonjour Scanner in the Kind column. But if you wait at least 15 seconds more, the printer should appear showing "canonijnetwork" in the Kind column.
If this printer component does not appear after 30 seconds maximum then it would suggest a problem with the printer driver installation. So open Finder and navigate to HD > Library > Printers > Canon > BJPrinter and trash the contents of this folder. Then download the latest MP560 driver via this link and run the installer. With the installation completed, try to add the printer again.)
Since I have tried these suggestions but still is not successful I wonder what's wrong with my Printer/Macbook and if there's any other way to add printer (using IP address for example ). If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks!

Yes I can Ping the IP address from Network Utility.
Before, my Macbook couldn't even recognize the scanner, but now I can add the Scanner from System Preferences.
However, my printer is stll not detected. I am missing some sort of an application or something?

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, my Canon MP980 printer no longer works. I've tried deleting the printer and adding it again. the process ends with my mac saying the software is not currently available from the software update server.

Since upgrading to Mavericks, my Canon MP980 printer no longer works. I've tried deleting the printer and adding it again. I've downloaded the driver software from Canon. My Mac dropbox tells me "the selected printer software is available from Apple", but when I click to download it, the process ends with my mac saying the software is not currently available from the software update server.

Open Finder and click on Go > Go to Folder. Then type
    /Library/Printers/Canon
and press Enter. This will show the BJPrinter and iJScanner folders. You could try moving or trashing this folder and then installing the driver that you downloaded from Canon again.
