Canon ip6000d printer driver not in driver list

Just bought a Macbook Pro with 2.5 GHz and it's working great. so far only one problem I haven't been able to fix. I have a Canon ip6000d connected to a Windows desktop which is always on. This desktop is hardwired to a Linksys router, and the Macbook connects to the router without any issue. When I go to system preferences and try to add the network printer, it shows up in the list of printers connected to the desktop as CANON PIX. I select the printer, and no driver is available. I try and "Select a driver to use...", the Canon ip drivers skip straight from 5200 to 6700.
Not only did I go to Canon's US website and download the latest driver, it's also supposed to be included with Mac OS 10.5. I tried connecting the computer to the Macbook by USB, and it worked without any issue at all, showing the correct (Canon ip6000d) driver. To me, this means that I have the driver installed on the computer.
In any case, I am still unable to print over the network. Any ideas?

As you have found, the Canon v4.8.3 driver for the iP6000D that is included with Leopard cannot be used when you are trying to connect to the printer when it is shared by Windows. For this type of connection, you need to use the Gutenprint drivers. However, the version 5.1.3 included with Leopard does not include the iP6000D. So you need to get v5.1.7 from Sourceforge (http://gutenprint.sourceforge.net/index.php3) which does include the iP6000D as a supported printer. Run this installer, it will remove the current v5.1.3 and install the v5.1.7 files. Then when you look through the list you will see the "Canon PIXMA iP6000D - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.1.7".

  • Printer setup utility- driver not appearing in list

Hi - I have installed a Canon printer driver (latest version as I checked), restarted my new MacBook (with updated OSX) but the driver does not appear in the list when i try to set printer up. Printer is connected to USB. It is a Canon Pixus iP7500. Latest driver is 4.1.9 - I checked.
I think my question is - how do i get the driver to appear in the Utility's list?
    Thanks.

For the Canon PIXMA drivers (or PIXUS in Japan), the Print Using menu is meant to automatically change to Canon IJ Printer when it detects the USB connected printer. If it doesn't change, you cannot manually browse to it like you can for other drivers.
Often the cause of the correct driver not being selected is that the software hasn't installed correctly. Following is some steps that I have used myself and offered to others that has resolved this problem.
    1. Open Printer Setup Utility, click on Printer Setup Utility and select Reset Printing System.
    2. Close the Printer Setup Utility.
    3. Go to Library > Printers > Canon and delete the contents of the BJPrinters folder.
    4. Go to Library > Receipts and delete the file Canon iPxxxx xxx.pkg
    5. Empty the Trash
    6. Restart the Mac
    7. Install the latest version of the Canon driver (which you have).
    8. Once the driver installation is complete, go to Applications > Utilities and open Disk Utility. Run the Repair Disk Permissions option.
    9. Open Printer Setup Utility. If the printer is not already displayed, click Add.
    10. Select the Default Browser view and select the Canon printer connected via the USB port. The Print Using menu should automatically change to Canon IJ Printer.
    11. Click Add to add the printer.
If the Canon IJ Printer doesn't appear automatically then please reply.

  • Canon MP560 Printer is not detected by System Preferences

    Hi everyone,
I am using a 2010 Macbook Pro with OS X Version 10.7.5, I have had this Canon MP560 Printer for about 2 years now and it has been working perfectly until lately when it starts to keep on returning "a communication error has occured" whenever I tried to print something.
I have read through the forum and noticed that people have experienced the same thing as me.
So for me, I have tried the following solutions:
    1. Checking if the LAN connection is working and printing the LAN test page from printer. It does print ad says that wireless LAN is enabled an active.
    2. I deleted the printer and scanner from System Preferences and try to re-add it
    3. Update my software
When I tried to re-add it, there is no printer detected. I tried doing the step-by-step that PAHU recommended that worked for some one but unfortunately it does not work for me. My printer still does not appear when I tried to look up a printer.
(Here is the step by step that I followed:
The printer component of the MP560 can take longer to appear than the scanner component. The scanner uses Bonjour to advertise itself on the wireless network, while the printer component uses a proprietary protocol called "canonijnetwork". If you select to add a printer and have the Default Add Printer view open, you will see the MP560 as Bonjour Scanner in the Kind column. But if you wait at least 15 seconds more, the printer should appear showing "canonijnetwork" in the Kind column.
If this printer component does not appear after 30 seconds maximum then it would suggest a problem with the printer driver installation. So open Finder and navigate to HD > Library > Printers > Canon > BJPrinter and trash the contents of this folder. Then download the latest MP560 driver via this link and run the installer. With the installation completed, try to add the printer again.)
Since I have tried these suggestions but still is not successful I wonder what's wrong with my Printer/Macbook and if there's any other way to add printer (using IP address for example ). If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks!

Yes I can Ping the IP address from Network Utility.
Before, my Macbook couldn't even recognize the scanner, but now I can add the Scanner from System Preferences.
However, my printer is stll not detected. I am missing some sort of an application or something?

  • Printing delivery note via attachment list

    Hi all,
when I print a delivery note in VL02N, it is also archived as PDF in our archive system (SAPERION).
My problem is, that a print from archive via attachment list is different (e.g. different borders) from that, which i printed at first.
Is there any chance to get the same output again?
    Regards, Hubert

    Hi,
    T. code for Output for Picking list is VL70
    T. Code for outputs for Deliveries is VL71.
    Hope this is clear.

  • Printing contact notes in non-list form

Is there a way I can print the notes I made for a contact without having them appear in a column?  When I check the notes box prior to printing the only choice is a list that produces them and than haves them set out in a skinny column.   My work around is to swipe and copy them into a word processing program.  This seems like a lot of extra steps.

I just tried this for the first time lastnight and cannot believe how something so simple does not work. I have a calendar just for birthdays because I was working on a new iPhoto calendar. I wanted to print the list of birthdays and dates so I went to Print in iCal and saw the 'Print List' selection and thought that would work great.
I selected 1/1/08 as the start date and then selected for 365 days expecting just a list of upcoming events in the calendar. Instead it wants to print page after page with every date on it for the next year even if there is nothing scheduled for that day. It just prints 'None'. How hard would it be to have it just print what is in your calendar for the next xx days. I think it would be handy to have a list of upcoming events printed out to glance at or mark up.
I am glad I am not the only one that thought this was so simple, yet impossible to do. I hope it gets changed. Maybe with Leopard it will be different.

  • Canon MP450 Printer will not print after OS X 10.4.9 Upgrade

After installing the software update, I'm unable to print. I went to download the lastest driver from Canon and installed it but I'm still having the same problem. Does anyone know how to revert back to OS X 10.4.8, without having to reinstall from the OS X install discs? Everything was working fine then, this is what I get for being an "early adopter." I should have looked through the online forums first. This reminds all to well of the issues I have when using the "PC." I guess I have to wait until Canon updates their drivers , but that means I'll have to use my PC to print everything. Please somebody help...
    2.0 GHz - Intel Core Duo White Macbook - 80 GB HD - 1GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   30GB Blk iPod Video 1G - 8GB Blk Nano 2G - 4GB Slvr Nano 2G - 1GB Slv Shuffle 2G

No point in waiting for Canon. Their drivers are fine. The update has caused the problem, probably because it has reset permissions on some files. But for the record, I checked the pre-release version of 4.9 a month ago with a number of Canon drivers and they all worked fine. So this is not a compatibility issue with 4.9, it has something to do with the way your Mac is configured. But don't despair, this has happened with just about every previous update and you will not be the only way to have printing problems after updating to 10.4.9.
First of all you can try running the Repair Disk Permissions. This usually resolves printing issues after an update. This can be found in Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
However, since you reinstalled the driver you could have created file version conflicts, so if the permissions doesn't help, then try opening the Printer Setup Utility, clicking on the title and selecting Reset Printing System. This will delete the printer and the drivers you have installed for the MP450. Restart the Mac once this is complete and then once it is running again, run the driver installation again for the MP and then add the printer again.

  • 10.3 to  10.5 Canon MP500 Print Sharing not working - Apple's Fault

I have an iMac which I upgraded to 10.5. When I did this it stopped being able to print to our Canon MP500 connected to our G3 running 10.3.9 I think I just had regular drivers installed and turned print sharing on....no longer works.
Whats the deal?????? Its Apples fault because I didn't change anything. How can they advertise "it just works" when it clearly doesn't. Why are they not supporting their old machines/software?
I've mailed Canon, but I doubt they have a working solution. I tried installing the cups driver on the 10.5 machine, but I didn't see anything come up.
any actual solutions would be great. This is ****** up.

Have a look at this Apple article.

This explains the workaround to let your 10.5 Mac find the 10.3 printer share.

  • Itunes will only load on C drive, not E drive

Greetings, Itunes will only load on C drive. (new build win 8.1) I have a 120G SSD for C and a 1tg Hdd for E. I am trying to load itunes on the E drive (1tb hdd) but no matter what I do, it loads on the C drive. I tried running install file from the E drive. It installs itunes on the E drive. I check the C drive and its not there. But when I sync (homeshare) it puts everything on the C drive.
I have tried just changing the letter C to a E on the screen where it asks where you want it installed. I have tried just a E, I have tried creating a folder on E first. and evey other combination of the above. (complete uninstalls between attempts
Itunes will not fit on the C drive.
    Thanks in advance

Well, I talked with a guy at work who has done the same as I'm trying. He says that besides setting up Itunes in the new drive, that there is another place where you have to tell itunes where to put the import data. But he can't remember where it was,so I am pointed in the right direction anyway.

  • Help! 2nd optical drive not ejecting; drive tray stuck!

I have just installed a LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165P6S drive in the second bay. I have removed the front tray panel, but when trying to eject from the drive, the tray fouls the case opening, and will not open fully. Only after some vigorous pulling upward on the tray, will it then open fully. This is not ideal, as the flimsy plastic won't take much of that kind of abuse. It seems that Apple have not made enuogh allowances for slight differences in design of dvd drives, or have I done something wrong? Is this just a case of incompatible design; should I try another burner, or is it a problem with the Mac Pro?
Seems that Apple could've made the bay openings a little bigger, to avoid this problem. Why didn't they? Most annoying.
Anyone else experienced any problems? Anyone got any ideas?

This Pioneer of which you speak, it seems to be the drive to go for, from what I've read. I just tried the Liote-On, to see if it's any quieter than the Sony unit (It is; it couldn't be any louder!), but the tray seems to be a bit too low for the bay door. Oh well. I had the Lite-On lying around spare, so I'm not too annoyed. I'll try the Pioneer that you mention, thanks. Is it a lot quieter? Trying to watch a dvd at night, the Sony drive is so loud, I have to have the volume up higher than I want to; it's going through a hi-fi, so does get a bit noisy.
Thanks mate. I'll swap the drive for the Pioneer, and see hoe it goes.
    Happpy New Year!

  • Drives not unmounting; drives crashing

I have had two external hard drives, one a D2 500Gb the other a G-Tech Q 1Tb, which have problems mounting and unmounting. Both are my newest EHDs. I have a couple of others - an Iomega which is noisy but does not have any other problems, and a D2 1Tb, and also a venerable Maxtor 300Gb which just keeps chugging along on its FW400 connection and I recently moved it to my MacBookPro as a Time Machine HD.
The G-drive kept crashing and I decided to reformat it but I had great difficulty unmounting it to erase it in Disk Utility. (Also tried Disk Warrior and Tech Tool Pro). After I managed to reformat it to one partition it now will not unmount at all, even when I try to eject it. I have not tried to put any new data on it. I had originally split it into two partitions one for TimeMachine the other for a small SuperDuper backup.
The Apple Store replaced the D2 500Gb but when I tried to erase one partition in the new drive (space required because of the G-Tech failure) it also would not unmount. Currently it is not crashing, so fingers crossed it will be OK except if I want to unmount it.
Have tried FW800, FW400 and USB connections all with the same results.
Given that two brand new external drives have failed with the same problems (and the D2 1Tb is fine so far), can the cause be something to do with my AppleMac? Has anyone else had the same problems, particularly with a MacMini (also brand new)
I'll wait for an answer before I send back the G-Tech (I already have the RMA).

Thank you. This was helpful, but did not solve my problem. Yes, the G-Tech had an 800Gb partition for Time Machine and the rest was for the SuperDuper backup, but I am not sure that that was the problem.
I have partly solved the unmounting problem by ditching my Disk Utility preferences and the new LaCie D2 500 is unmounting OK now (and so are all the other hard drives).
The G-Tech is currently attached as a USB directly to my Mac (all the others are attached via a FW800 chain). When I could get it to mount and unmount again, I set it up as Time Machine but within minutes it had crashed. So it is now getting all its data zeroed out, which will take 15 hours, so I can return it to G-Tech.

  • After Effects CS3  - Rendering --Use an External Drive not C: Drive

    Newbie AE Question
    1. Saving Files:
Is it best to save all AE files to an External Hard Drive in other words all output files MPEG--AVI--Quicktime to a Media Drive rather than the C: Drive?
    2. Rendering
How can I make AE Default to save as a MPEG or Quicktime Movie File as oppossed to always Defaulting to a Windows AVI file for output?
    3. CS4 AE
Any huge improvement that I should def upgrade to CS4 AE over CS3?
Thanks so much for all your help

Is it best to save all AE files to an External Hard Drive in other words all output files MPEG--AVI--Quicktime to a Media Drive rather than the C: Drive?
The decisive factor is file I/O (input-output) performance. Since the C: drive is your system drive, it usually is already rather busy, so there will be a performance hit. However, todays harddrives are reasonably fast, so per se there's no argument against it. External drives usually only make sense, if they are FireWire or eSATA. USB 2.0 in theory is also fast enough, but other devices hooked on the same bus/ channel/ controller (printers, scanners etc.) may enforce slower data transfer modes, so your mileage may vary.
How can I make AE Default to save as a MPEG or Quicktime Movie File as oppossed to always Defaulting to a Windows AVI file for output?
Check the Templates section in your Edit menu. Create suitable Render Settings and Output Module settings. Once you have done so, you can assign them as new defaults, like e.g. a JPEG for stills instead of PSD.
Any huge improvement that I should def upgrade to CS4 AE over CS3?
Better multiprocessing, support for more file formats (including AVCHD), better DynamicLink integration, corrected aspect ratio handling, generally better stability. However, if your system is not MP suitable or you don't work with any of the newer formats, I see no urgent need to upgrade, especially since you are just starting out.
