Canon ip6600d Printer wont talk to my emac G4 on system 10.4.6

I have bought a new Canon ip6600d printer and have downloaded the relevant drivers (canonip6600d416.dmg) -from the cannon website - to work with 10.4.6 with my G4 emac and it cannot see it. None of the software from the CD works, it is connected with a USB cable and as far as I can see I am doing nothing wrong. I am using the Printer Utilities through Applications and I cannot add the driver this way. Anyone have any suggestions as the only way I can print anything is through my Sony Camera as a pictbridge and it will only print pictures taken by the camera, and that is it. Nothing else.
I would dearly love to use it for other things, like my own pictures that I have worked on etc from my emac. I would just love to get the drivers working but everything I try has to same result... no printer is connected. If anyone can help I would be so happy.

Not trying to be a jerk, but what does this have to do with a nano? I think you are looking for this?

  • Hi my canon mg2520 printer wont turn on anymore

Hi my canon mg2520 printer wont turn on anymore, was working last night
    all plugs are well
    -Alexis

    Hi topo123,
When the printer will not power on, we recommend the following:
    1. Ensure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet instead of going through a surge protector that is plugged into a wall outlet, as sometimes ports on a surge protector may no longer work, even if other ports on the protector do work.
    2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet/surge protector and leave them out for at least 10 minutes, then plug it back in to try and reset the printer.
    3. Try plugging the printer into another power outlet in a different area of the room, or another room if possible.
    4. If you have another power cord you can use with the printer, please see if using that power cord will allow the printer to
    power on.
If the printer still does not turn on after following the above steps, it will require servicing.  Please call or email us using one of the methods on the Contact Us page for servicing options.

  • Canon printer wont print PDF and Word files... sometimes.

I face a very special problem with my iMac and my Canon printer (Pixma MG5350): Since a few weeks, the printer wont print most PDF files correctly, the same with existing Word files. A blank or blurred sheet is coming out of the machine. But: When I create a brand new Word file and fill it with text, the printer prints it clean and neat. The same with the official Canon test prints – no troubles at all. I have also tried to sort out the problem with the help from Apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3147?viewlocale=de_DE, without success. Glad about every help!

My next suggestion would be to try an alternate driver to the Canon.
There is the Gutenprint v5.2.9 suite which is free and lists the MG5300 series as a supported model. You could download and install this driver suite and add the Gutenprint MG5300 driver and see if this gives you the same problem.

  • Canon ip6600D multiple printer profiles

    Hi Everyone
Just starting to use Lightroom to print again, after having had a bad experience at the start (just as likely to have been user error as 1.0 problems).
I have a Canon ip6600D, and Lightroom offers me 6 profiles for it, called:
    MP2
    PR1
    PR2
    PR3
    SP2
    SP3
What do these letters stand for? What are the difference between the profiles?
So far I have tried the first three, and have got some good results, but am slightly worried that I don't understand what exactly the status is of these profiles.
Supplementary question: with a correctly calibrated monitor, should it be possible to get monitor-to-print accuracy using only one printer profile all the time? And if so why are there six different ones?...
    Thanks in advance
    Nic

Since Canon by design tends to produce very vibrant, saturated reds and blues that can present a printing challenge beyond using the right printer/paper profile at times. If you are using Canon RAW files, you might want to reduce those colors with the sliders in the HSL section of LR.
The amount needed depends on your taste, so you will need to experiment a bit by printing some strips (little paper waste that way)to find out how much, if any, you need to take one or both of those color ranges down a bit in particular images, or, if you find that those colors need modification for all images you can use the Camera Calibration section of LR.
Sometimes, when I have just a region of the image that needs having the red or blue reduced, I send the image to Lightzone or Photoshop (often with the NIK Viveza plugin) for external editing, since LR's control at this time is global, not selective.

  • Canon ip6600D Won't Print

Brand new Canon ip6600D won't print through iPhoto, specifically print job tries to print but after approx. 10 seconds of trying it defaults to "job stopped." Prints fine through Web browser and all other apps. Are there hidden iPhoto printing prefs somewhere that can be deleted? Previously had a Canon i990 printer and never had a problem with it. Thanks for any suggestions.
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Aaron:
All I can think of is to remove the Canon print drivers and then reinstall them. You might go to Canon's site to see if there is a newer driver than what you've got. Also run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions. You might try that first.
If neither help I would run OnyX and clean out both the user and system caches. Your first restart afterward will be slower but will get back to normal on subsequent restarts.

  • Problem with my Canon PIXMA iP6600D printer

My Canon PIXMA iP6600D printer suddenly will not print black ink. At the time I thought it was just out of ink (that cartridge was low and I knew I needed a replacement) but I have since replaced it and the printer will not print the black (other colors appear just fine). I have cleaned the nozzle head at least a dozen times and deep-cleaned it at least 4, and it will still not print black (and this is with a new cartridge). I have tried to print the auto head align but I get this message after it tries to do it:
" Auto Head Align has failed. Press OK and repeat operation. (see manual)"
And I have looked in the manual but there's no information on this. The manual's advice (if there are 'white lines' or whatnot in whatever is being printed, which I figure is the closest to my problem) is to wait 24hrs and try cleaning the nozzle again.
I've scanned in the nozzle check print out I get and it looks like this: http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y54/horrormoviebufy/?action=view&current=Messedupheadalign.jpg
Can anyone help or suggest anything I haven't tried yet? Worst comes to worst, is this something I can bring in to Best Buy to have checked out and/or fixed? D: I'm at the end of my tether here frustrated to tears.

made the change, but doesn't fix my issue of not being able to re-add the printer... will play around with the printer to make sure it's on and actively connected, but at this point, that fix does nothing for me... thanks though... I'm sure it fixed the printing problem I was having before I removed the printer...

  • Canon MP620 print driver does not work with Snow Leopard

Bought a Macbook & bundled Canon MP620 printer in Dec 08. Two days ago upgraded to Snow Leopard, and I can no longer print (the printer is not recognized), it only sees "Bonjour scanner" (the printer is a multi-function printer, copier, fax, scanner). Spent more than two hours with two different Apple tech support people over the phone; talked to Apple personnel in store. My printer is connected via Ethernet cable to a wireless modem, and I connect to the wireless modem via Airport. The phone tech person insisted that this printer is supported by Snow Leopard, but we reloaded the print driver from the Snow Leopard installation disk with no results. Finally my last resort, which worked, is to go to Radio Shack and get a cable that has a USB-A (printer) to USB-B (Mac) attachment. I was able to print. It is unacceptable for Apple to have this problem, as I went into the store four different times to discuss whether I should upgrade to Snow Leopard, and was told on every occasion that Snow Leopard will make everything run faster, more smoothy, etc. NOT! I want Apple to post a notice on their web site to a) confirm their print driver problems with Snow Leopard and b) to confirm WHEN new print drivers will be released.

Have a look at my last posting re Canon network printing.

  • Windows 7, and Pixma iP6600D printer. Is there a driver?

Just upgraded computer to Windows 7, and broke out my old Canon Pixma iP6600D printer. Having difficulty downloading a driver and getting it to print. Will this printer even work with Win 7?

    Hi Judith!
The PIXMA iP6600D is fully compatible with Windows 7 using the driver provided by Windows Update.  This driver should install automatically when you connect a USB cable directly from the printer to your computer.  To see if this installed correctly, please perform the following:
     1.  Click Start, Control Panel, then Printers and Other Devices.
The printer should be listed here as PIXMA iP6600D.  If it is, please try printing from it. Your printer is now installed correctly.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

  • Printer Dialog for Canon S9000 Printer

I dug out my large format Canon S9000 printer and am having trouble color correcting the photographic prints. Part of the trouble seems to be that in OS 10.6 I don't seem to be able to get the printer dialog box from the printer utility. When you go into the printer driver all you get is Canon S9000 in the box and I don't seem to be able to get into change any of the driver settings. Can anyone help? Thanks.

    spinosaurus wrote:
I did download the latest driver for the S9000 available, although it is updated I believe only through OS X v10.5 and not 10.6.
The driver update is for 10.6. If you have v10.36.2.0 installed then at least there should be some level of comparison between my setup and yours.
I talked to Canon support and they told me that Apple writes the printer drivers for the OS systems and not them.
This is not true. Canon creates the drivers and provides them to Apple so that it they are available via Software Update.
Since you are using the same driver from Canon, maybe you could answer some of the following questions: What color space do you use for importing your photograph, sRGB, AdobeRGB, ProRGB, etc.? What color space do you use for viewing your photograph? Do use any ICC print profiles to print?
For the photo that I used to test, it was taken on my Canon EOS7D and imported using Image Capture. The Get Info for the photo shows the colour space as RGB and the colour profile as sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
For printing I selected the Canon profile to match the Canon Photo Plus Glossy, which is shown as GL3/SG3 in ColorSync. When PS was managing the colour this was selected via the PS print dialog > printer profile. When I selected the printer to manage, I used the Quality & Media tab to select the paper which in turn sets the profile, as seen in the Color Options menu.

  • Canon LBP6200 Printer not working anymore after update to 10.6.7

i dont know if this is to do with mac osx or canon's printer
i try reinstall the driver but it just dont work
obviously, apple need to work with canon to solve this problem
hope for a update coming soon enough
    cannot live without my printer

I bought a Canon LBP3100 three weeks ago. It was working fine until I updated to 10.6.7 this morning. I spent a good part of the day talking to Canon and Apple support. It is clear there is an issue with the driver under the latest operating system. Canon said they didn't even know there was an update out and hadn't a clue when a fix will be available. Apple advised me to reinstall 10.6.6 which I am reluctant to do. In the meantime I'm left without a useable printer in my office. So much for customer service. Something has gone badly wrong somewhere.

  • Printing in Aperture 2.1 is Just Plain broken on Canon ipf Printer

I would like either Apple to fix Aperture so that the print driver for my canon ipf8000 (were talking a high end printer here) works, or they make is so that their print module doesn't interfere with the print driver.
    Observations:
Ipf print driver works on every other program in 10.5.4, including IPhoto.
Adobe related "extras" (freelayout - for layout control, previewing, etc) work fine on every other piece of software (including text edit). This functionality is not even listed in apertures print menu.
    Can't print on cut sheet.
If I do not want to control the print with the driver, i can print a photo on a roll.
I have printed fine in lightroom, ps, etc.
Any ideas, beside taking everything to photoshop. If i wanted to do that I would not have switched from lightroom and photoshop in the first place.
I would really prefer if there was a way to print out of Aperture via some plugin or just a direct link to the canon driver.

    jon_jon,
Yesterday I was about to throw Aperture out the Window because of what you and others had described in this thread - good prints from everything EXCEPT Aperture. I found a fix for my combination of printing woes yesterday: see link to discussion...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1711206&tstart=0&start=15
My solution doesn't address your specific problem, but one thing I noticed in the trial-and-error approach was that if I chose a specific printer/paper profile within Aperture's print dialogue, when I clicked the "Print Settings" button, some of the printer's capabilities are greyed out or not showing, even though they show when printing from other applications. If I chose "System Managed" profile, then the printer's full profiling and color adoptions are available to me again.
I realise that this might not work for you as I'm talking about a prosumer HP printer rather than your very nice Canon, but it might help you narrow things down.
    Regards,
    Calx

  • How to install Windows 7 64 bit driver for Canon i9100 Printer?

When I try to install my Canon i9100 printer on my HP laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Windows cannot locate a driver.  Visiting the Canon website, I find an update module for the Windows driver.  Canon says the printer MUST be installed using Windows Updater before their driver update can be installed.  I have tried everything, but I cannot get Windows to find a driver.  Windows Updater says that my computer is Up To Date.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you,
