  • 9.4.3 - Can't print my PDFs to a Canon IPF 8000s

    Hi Everyone!
I would appreciate any advice regarding the above.
For the last two years, I have been able to create work in In-Design CS4 then export it via Acrobat Pro into a PDF and print successfully to a Canon IPF 8000s.
I have updated the various drivers, adobe software over this time and all has been well in my camp.
Just two weeks ago, the printhead on the Canon was changed....and since my printed posters are missing lettering, etc.
I've been chatting with the Canon guys and we've eliminated the printer as a problem.
The problem lies with Acrobat Pro 9.4.3
Is anyone having a similar problem with 9.4.3?
    Cheers VW/MK

Thanks for your time but I have no idea how to 'roll back to 10.6.6'. Discussions around this do not actually explain how to do it, well not in a way that makes me confident.
I have time machine but have never used it.
The odd thing is that some PDFs - eg those generated by my website - print perfectly. The ones that don't have been created in InDesign CS5.
    Thanks

  • Printing on Canon ipf 6400 using 17 inch roll canvas

I am new at Lightroom and new at the printer. I am using 17 inch wide rolled canvas, printing an image 11 x 11 inches on a Canon ipf 6400, rather than wasting canvas at side of the 11 inch print, and using only 11 inches of the roll, it prints on the one edge of the canvas leaving the other 6 inches unused, but then it rolls down to a full length of 17 inches, thus wasting another  6 inches, full width of 17 inches. I need someone to tell me how to set Lightroom features so that printer only rolls out 11 inches of paper needed for the print.

I'm having same issues trying to print to custom sizes in Preview.
Possible work-around (not a solution, but might allow you to print and meet a deadline): I found I could set my Custom paper size as the Default in the Print & Scan Preference Pane.
Now, my print job still had issues, but it may work for your Aperture job. Of course, the PIA is that you have to remember to go back into Preferences and reset Default Paper Size...
Hope Apple is aware of - and working on - printing issues...

  • Canon iPF Driver Update

Canon has today released an update for their iPF (large format) printers. The update is to resolve text not printing after installing 10.6.7.
In testing to our Canon iPF8300 I found that the recent Font update was not required but I would still recommend this is installed if you have issues with text not printing. I was also able to print with the Fast Graphic Process enabled. A previous workaround prior to the release of the update was to disable this setting, located in Main menu, Advanced Settings.
Here is a link to the Canon iPF Driver Update

Have you tried installing / using the driver for OS X 10.8 on 10.9? I've seen many cases where drivers for older versions of OS X will still install and operate on 10.9.

  • Having problems printing to Canon ipf6350 from maverick

I tried installing an update driver fro the Canon ipf6350, but maverick does not support this software. Has anyone experienced this issue?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#canon-inkjet proves your point.
Canon has apparently decided to support that printer on its own website:
    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/imageprogr af_series/imageprograf_ipf6350#DriversAndSoftware
Select the operating system, and then drop down the driver red triangle.

  • Cannot print to Canon iR3380i after Mavericks update

We have a small office network.  All machines print to our Canon iR3380i copier.  The iR3380i has a static IP address in our internal network.  All machines currently use OS X Lion.
I updated my machine (2011 MacBook Air 13") to OS X Mavericks last night and can no longer print.  Here are the error messages and steps I've taken:
    1) First I got "Error 16801"
To solve this I visited the Canon site to download the latest UFRII driver (v10.2.0) for the iR3380i
I removed the current printer, updated my driver with the new UFRII driver
    I re-added the printer
    2) Next I got "The printed output may be incorrect because the printer information has not been acquired. Start Printer Utility to get the printer information."
The only option at this point is to hit "OK".
    3) Next dialog box says "Cannot communicate with the printer, or the printer is not supported. If the printer is supported, check the printer connection and add it again, then start Printer Utility to get the printer information."
Again, the only option I got was to hit "OK".
The printer icon appears in the Dock with a PAUSE symbol and the 1 Job Pending alert.
Opening the Printer Queue box shows one job in the queue.
Hitting "Resume" generates the dialog box "Cannot communicate..." again.
And that's it. I cannot figure out what else to do. Help please!

I think your issue is that even though you have the latest 10.2.0 driver for 10.9, you added the printer using the previous v2.43 PPD. So open Print & Scan, remove the current printer for the iRC3380 and click the plus button to add again. After selecting IP > LPD and entering the IP address, ensure you select "Canon iR C2880/C3380" in the Use menu. Note that there is no mention of UFRII in the model name, as is the case with the previous UFR2 v2.43 driver.
Thanks for the suggestion.  I did that this morning (see Step 1) and deleted the existing printer before re-adding a new printer and using the newly updated driver and printer description.  Here's what I get:
You can see my model number is listed in there as is the the proprietary Canon UFRII language.
Once added, here's what happens next:
So it would appear, at this point, that the printer is installed and communicating and that I should be good to print.
Alas, I get the same error message I've been getting.  back to square one.

  • Aperture 3.01 Printing to Canon iPF 6100 Broken

No matter what print size i specifiy in the print dialog, the iPF plugin always gets 8.5"x11" paper size.
Unusable. This worked before the update.
    Please please please.
I need to be able to print contact sheets!
    If anyone has a workaround?
Otherwise i'm leaving for Capture One Pro and so is my studio 10+ licenses.

Hello Ernie and thank you for your inputs.
    Using the Canon Printer Driver there is not as such a "Color Management OFF" function (that I am aware of). However to quote Canon Help;
    +"*For Mac OS X v.10.5.x*+
+When you want to print by using the color space (Adobe RGB or sRGB) of the image data effectively or _by specifying a printing ICC profile from your application software, select ColorSync_+."
    It goes on to say;
+" Select color correction - Select the item below that matches your purpose.+
    ColorSync
+You can print by using the color space (Adobe RGB or sRGB) of the image data effectively.+
+Depending on the application software, when a printing ICC profile is specified from that application software, Vendor Matching cannot be selected because ColorSync is selected automatically.+"
As far as I understand This is the same as "Color Management OFF", as it is managed by the application. By the way these settings are the same when printing from both applications.
Regarding Proofing Preview, I've set the profile to match the Printer Profile for the paper I use and then tried printing with and without the preview on.
    Cheers
    Henrik

  • Why is my Canon IPF 5100 printer not working on my new iMac intel

I just purchased a new iMac and within a few days, my IPF 5100 printer stopped working. I contacted Canon's service department and
they had no idea how to fix the problem. They said it was most likely a USB port problem. They mentioned that this problem was
occurring more and more often with the iMac's.
Well, the customer service person from Canon said they would call me back, and I haven't heard from them yet.
Hello Canon and Macintosh, my printer plays an important part in my photography business.
    What's up!
Anyone else with a IPF 5100 having this problem?
    Greg

Are you sure it's an IPF 5100, if so it's not supported by Snow Leopard per:

  • Printing in Aperture 2.1 is Just Plain broken on Canon ipf Printer

I would like either Apple to fix Aperture so that the print driver for my canon ipf8000 (were talking a high end printer here) works, or they make is so that their print module doesn't interfere with the print driver.
    Observations:
Ipf print driver works on every other program in 10.5.4, including IPhoto.
Adobe related "extras" (freelayout - for layout control, previewing, etc) work fine on every other piece of software (including text edit). This functionality is not even listed in apertures print menu.
    Can't print on cut sheet.
If I do not want to control the print with the driver, i can print a photo on a roll.
I have printed fine in lightroom, ps, etc.
Any ideas, beside taking everything to photoshop. If i wanted to do that I would not have switched from lightroom and photoshop in the first place.
I would really prefer if there was a way to print out of Aperture via some plugin or just a direct link to the canon driver.

    jon_jon,
Yesterday I was about to throw Aperture out the Window because of what you and others had described in this thread - good prints from everything EXCEPT Aperture. I found a fix for my combination of printing woes yesterday: see link to discussion...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1711206&tstart=0&start=15
My solution doesn't address your specific problem, but one thing I noticed in the trial-and-error approach was that if I chose a specific printer/paper profile within Aperture's print dialogue, when I clicked the "Print Settings" button, some of the printer's capabilities are greyed out or not showing, even though they show when printing from other applications. If I chose "System Managed" profile, then the printer's full profiling and color adoptions are available to me again.
I realise that this might not work for you as I'm talking about a prosumer HP printer rather than your very nice Canon, but it might help you narrow things down.

    Calx

  • How to setup a canon iR2018 on Mavericks

    Hi,
I upgrade from Mac OS from 10.6.8 to Mavericks so I can't print anymore with my Canon iR2018.
I already install the 10.3.0 driver from Canon but I don't remember how to setup Mac OSX to find my ethernet printer plug on time capsule.
    What I did was:
    - delete and readd the printer
    - choose IP tab
    - Adresse: 192.168.1.110 Protocole: LPD Name: 192.168.1.110 emplacement: I don't know what to put here Software: Canon iR2018
    Thank you.

Sometimes applying http://support.apple.com/kb/dl899 before or after the update from Canon's website helps improve printing with Canon printers.

  • Canon lide 90 mavericks

Canon's site says that the CanoScan Lide 90 is not compatible with 10.9. Has anyone found a way to get it to work? thanks

I can't speak to the LIDE driver, but installing Mavericks "broke" my Canon MG6120 MFP scanner and my Epson Artisan 810 plug-ins in Photoshop Elements 10.  I was able to use Image Capture successfully with both, and I could also access and work the limited scan functions via the "Printers and Scanners" System Preferences - but I normally scan into Photoshop Elements.
Both printers functioned fine as printers after the Mavericks install; it is only the scanner integration with Photoshop that was a problem.  The Canon MFP did not show in the Photoshop Import options at all; and while the Epson MFP shows, it does not work there.
I was able to get the Mavericks-compatible scanner driver (with a TWAIN plug-in for Photoshop) for the MFP from the Canon site; after downloading and installing it, the Canon scanner once again showed in Photoshop Elements' Import function.  The driver for that particular scanner  can be downloaded at http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mg_s eries/pixma_mg6120#DriversAndSoftware
I am prettys sure the drivers are there for most Canon MFPs and dedicated scanners as well.  Get to the page for your particular scanner or MFP by entering the matrix here:  http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support
One can also download the ICA and CUPS drivers from the support page.  Having done that, Photoshop now once again shows the Canon scanner.
No luck so far for the Artisan 810.  Epson says new drivers should be out "in a few days."
None of my efforts to get newer drivers via Software Update worked - including having trashed the two Epson printer files and trying again to download from Software udate, as suggested elsewhere in these forums.
