Canon ir 3200 printer scanner:  two issues

I have MacBook Pro running OSX 10.5.4. Some issues have shown up when interfacing with Canon color imagerunner C3200, connected through IP.
Problem 1: showed up when I installed Leopard about 3 months ago. The Canon C3200 is a color copier that can print and scan. When scanning, it pushes the file to a folder. I used to be able to scan to my Mac. Once I upgraded, the Canon could no longer scan to my computer. It scans fine to the PCs in house. I have installed all updates (Leopard, Canon, drivers, etc). No luck.
I tried a WIDE variety of pathnames and sharing privileges, but have been unsuccessful since the upgrade in using the scan feature. Anybody run into this?
Problem 2: started last week. I cannot print in color to the Canon IR C3200 - my documents come out in black and white. I have removed the printer, re-installed it, updated drivers, etc. I can print in color to other printers, just not the Canon.

Hi there,
The configuration of SMB sharing on Leopard has changed compared to Tiger. To enable SMB access on Mac OS X 10.5, perform the following steps.
1. Navigate to System Preferences > Sharing
2. Enable File Sharing
3. Select Options
4. Enable 'Share files and folders using SMB'
5. In the Accounts window, select the Account you will use to authenticate to the Mac. You will be prompted to authenticate as the Mac administrator.
6. Click Done
7. Ensure the folder you are scanning to is in the Shared Folders list and that the account you choose in Step 5 has Read & Write privileges to the folder.
Then on the iRC3200, check the following.
For the Host Name, the entry should read \\macbookpronameaccountname. Also, instead of using the 'macbookpro_name', you could use the MBP's ip address.
Note that the 'account_name' is the short name for the home folder where the scans folder (the folder you want to scan to) resides.
Then for the directory path, the file path syntax requires a leading back-slash ( \ ) and any additional sub-folders also require another back-slash as a separator. For example, \Desktop\Scans
So, for example, if the MBP was named 'Battlestar', the user home folder was 'Galactica' and the scans folder was 'Adama' located on the Desktop, then the syntax in the iRC3200 address book needs to be entered as follows:
Address Name: +Any name you want - this is just a label+
Select the Windows (SMB) protocol
Host Name: \\Battlestar\Galactica
File path: \Desktop\Adama
Username: The account name you enabled in the Mac sharing
Password: The password for the account above
Re the B&W printing, if you are using the iRC3200 PPD or Generic PostScript, rather than the PS v1.81 driver, then check the copier Color Mode setting. This is located in Additional Functions > Printer Settings > Settings > Color Mode. Ensure this is set to Auto.

  • Canon pixma mp560 printer/scanner doesn't work wirelessly

    I have a canon mp560 printer/scanner.  It works fine w/ my mac when I'm plugged in w/ the usb but then goes offline and won't print when I try to go wireless.  I've reinstalled the software and everything functions fine, but the printer and scanner will not run wirelessly.  I've tried the canon website and have not been able to solve the problem.  Does this have something to do w/ bonjour?  I'm relatively new to macs.  This printer runs wirelesly w/out problem on my pc.  Thanks for any help.

    Your problem is being caused by sharing this printer via USB. The UFR2 driver for Mac causes problems when being shared, even to other Mac's. Since the MF has an Ethernet port you would be better suited to buying an Ethernet hub and connecting all computers and the printer to this hub.
    As for the scanning, I don't believe there is a network scanning application for Mac. AFAIK the MF ScanGear for OS X is for USB only so you would need to have the MF connected to the Mac for scanning - unless it has a Send function which would allow you to send a scan to a shared folder on the Mac. But looking at the spec pages for this model I could not tell if it has this feature.

  • How can I get iMac to recognize Canon Pixma mp990 printer wirelessly?

    Although my Canon Pixma MP990 printer/scanner shows I've properly set it up for wifi, and the blue wifi light illuminates on the printer, my iMac now refuses to recognize that my printer is connected. Imac now shows the printer as offline.  When the printer was set up for corded/wired connection, the Imac worked fine with it. How can I get iMac to recognize the wireless printer setup? Thanks!

    Hi ..
    Click here >  Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : PIXMA MP990
    Then click  Wireless Help
    Make sure the printer is recognized in System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print
    If not, download and install the drivers designated for the mp990 model.
    In the System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print window, click + (plus) to add the printer.

  • ImageRUNNER 1023 printer/scanner to workgroup computers

    I am trying to install a Canon ImageRUNNER 1023 printer/scanner to my small office network. This is not a domain network just 3 computers set up in a workgroup. I set the printer up with a manual IP address and tried to run the software provided but I got an error "could not create port" or something similiar. I tried to ping the IP address that I gave the printer but there was no response. The three computers are hooked up through a firewalled router. My computer internal IP addrsss is 192.168.0.4 so I gave the printer 192.168.0.50 which I think should work. How do I create the port or what am I missing?
    thanks
    Wally

    Unfortunately, the  AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers ... just, as you found out, the printing function.

  • Downloaded Canon printer/scanner drivers for Canon PIXMA MP520 and MX860 on Mac Book laptop, and they worked.  However, when I downloaded the same two drivers on Mac Book Air, neither worked.

    Downloaded Canon printer/scanner drivers for Canon PIXMA MP520 and MX860 on Mac Book laptop, and they worked.  However, when I downloaded the same two drivers on Mac Book Air, neither worked.

    I wasn't aware that VueScan charged a yearly license.
    You simply launch Image Capture and if the scanner is recognized it will be listed in the SHARED list in the left display column.  Select the scanner name and the app will start an overview scan.  You will also see a list of scanning options in the right display column (resolution, paper size, file output format, etc.
    The above description is when everything is working correctly, which has been the case for me.
    Good luck.

  • HT204135 I have a MacBook Air and bought a Canon MP495 printer scanner with WiFI. Since the Mac gas no disk drive and had to down load the printer, scanner drivers and a navigation and network software from Canon's website. How do I get the software to wo

    I have down loaded printer,scanner drivers and 2 applications Navigator and Network from Canon's website. I cannot seem to get these to run althought the printer works when connected to the Mac with a LAN cable Canon's documentation is useless because it relies on downloading a disc which you cannot do without a CD drive that MacBook Air does not have. Any suggestions appreciated.

    Hi John. Thanks for that input. At Step 6, after clicking "Next" I get a window telling me my OS version is unsupported and the installation may not complete. I am prompted to go to Canon's web site to "Check Latest Info".
    I've had this window on previous attempts and from Canon's web site I downloaded two drivers as follows
    - ICA Driver V4.0.0
    - Canon IJ Network Tool V4.5.0
    I'm not sure if these are the correct / complete drivers I need for this install or not.
    I continue to follow all the steps. At step 9 I click "Wireless Set Up using USB" amd get a License Agreement (a little different than instructions)
    I click "Agree" and it goes to a Setup window with two progress bars showing the installation. I've not been prompted to connect the USB?
    After the Setup window is done, I am then prompted to connect the printer via USB. I connect the printer and click on "Redetect". It is not detected.
    I then try following the Canon on screen instructions for connecting to the wireless LAN amd enter the password. It searches and indicates "Connecting" on the window, but it never connects and the blue light just blinks
    So, at this point I am stuck??
    Thanks

  • HT3669 iEPP, Easy Photo Print, App not 'detecting' my Canon MX870 printer/scanner.

    Downloaded the iPod Touch iEPP Airprint app for printing wirelessly to my approved, Canon MX870 printer/scanner and the app can't detect it.
    Thanks

    I have been having the same issue with the Canon iEPP app not detecting the printer using an iPhone 4S, 5S and iPad Air.  I was on the phone with Canon IT support and the devices and apps can communicate with the printer when I type in the printer IP address in the Safari browser.
    I have Comcast Xfinity for interner and have a Linksys Wireless-G router.
    I tried about 5 different free app which support my Canon MX870 printer and none can detect the printer.
    Any suggestions?

  • IPhoto not printing to Canon MG 3200 Series

    I cannot print any images from iPhoto to my Cannon MG 3200 printer. I can print other documents just fine. But even if I insert the image into a Word doc, it still will not print. I get a message saying the printer is offline and not connected, but it works fine for other docs. Any suggestions appreciated.

    I had a similar problem, which was because I had two versions of the printer installed (USB and wireless).
    When you select print, you get an initial dialogue box to select your Canon MG3200.  Make sure you select the wireless one (second option for me).  A second dialogue box with printer options also shows up.  Make sure this is also the wireless printer (again, second option for me).
    I was getting the offline error because I was only changing the printer in the first dialogue box, but not the second one.

  • I am attempting to connect my Canon Pixma MG5220 printer/copier/scanner to my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8.  After loading software from Canon and attempting to print, I get the following message: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED.  What can I do to fix this?

    I just purchased and installed a Canon Pixma MG5220 printer/copier/scanner to my PC desktop with Windows XP.  It works fine.  It has been successfully installed on my network and I am able to use it with my laptop running VISTA.  However, I am trying to connect it to my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8 and I am not having much luck.  I can see it as one of the printer choices when attempting to print; however, I get the following message:
    NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
    I have been searching for answers, but nothing seems to work yet.  Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Let me understand:
    - you have purchased named canon, which is conencted to your PC running windows xp
    - downloaded driver for win xp, and canon works fine
    - canon is connected to that PC via USB
    - that Canon is also activated as network printer, by allowing print sharing in windows; how did you set that option?
    - now, you are in Mac OS x 10.6.8, downloaded Canon driver for Mac OS X, installed it, detected printer on the network, printer was installed; was it detected as attached to that PC running win XP? or not?
    or you set canon by being connected to your mac directly via USB?
    Now, there are some questions you should answer as some details are missing, and your initial text is not clear. Can you print if Canon is connected directly to your mac? did you try that? if not, do it before answering.

  • Since upgrade to Mountain Lion my scanner and Image Capture program will not work ( have a Canon MP980 printer/scanner). How do I correct?

    I recently installed Mountain Lionn on my iMac. After installing the Image Capture program no longer allowed me to  scan - I immediately received an error message. Even when I tried to scan directly from the printer/scanner (Canon MP980) I received the same message. Scanner worked fine with 'Lion' How do I correct this problem now?

  • I cannot get Adobe Acrobat 7 to recognize my Canon MG5420  printer/scanner.

    Adobe recognized my Canon MG5420 printer/scanner until I had to install new printer drivers. Now it indicates "None" when I try to find the connected scanner. How do I connect the printer to Adobe Acrobat 7? The printer works with all other programs. Thank you.

    Having to install new printer drivers tends to imply going to a new OS.
    The Acrobat 7 product family is not compatible with any contemporary OS.
    For that you'd need the current release of Acrobat.
    Be well...

  • Canon MP620 printer scanner cannot be added as a device

    I've been searching for and trying different solutions for over 5 hours now. I'm hoping someone can help me. This canon device should work similarly to the newer printer/scanners in this line. This device worked fine for me when connected directly to my iMac via USB. I recently upgraded to OS X 10.8 and connected the printer to an Airport Extreme so both PCs on our wireless network could access it. This worked fine, could print from both the Macbook Air and the iMac with no problems. Then I tried to scan something and went down the rabbit hole. Found that the printer was not properly connected to the wireless network, and I have been unable to re-run the wireless setup using the Canon IJ Network Tool. After numerous efforts of installing the original startup disk, restarting, restarting the printer, installing all new drivers and software from the Canon site, I'm now in a worse situation than when I started. Now the iMac doesn't see the printer at all.
    I had cleared all devices in my efforts to reset and start over, but now I am unable to add the printer back to my printer queue. At this point it's connected directly from my printer to the PC, so there shouldn't be anything complicated here, but the PC doesn't see it. I'm completely stuck.
    This thread had great information for my original problem, but by the time I found that thread, my efforts to fix it had made it worse and now I can't access the printer at all.
    Please help! Best case scenario, I'd be able to use the printer/scanner on our wireless network. But at this point I'd be happy to just be able to use it with a direct USB connection to the PC. Right now it's an expensive door stop.

    Okay. The first thing to check is what is currently set in the MP620. There is every chance that it is still correctly connected to your wirless network.
    On the MP620, use the dial to select Settings then press OK.
    Then rotate the dial to select Device Settings and press OK.
    And then rotate the dial to select LAN settings and press OK.
    One of the options in the list should be Confirm LAN settings. Select this and press OK.
    The next thing you should see is wireless LAN setting list. Select this and press OK. This will show if the connection is active, the SSID (wireless network name) and the IP address it is using. Make a note of this IP address.
    So is the MP620 still connected to the Extreme network?

  • Canon Pixma MP270 - Installation of a printer/scanner

    I'd like to introduce a way how I've succeeded in installing printer/scanner Canon Pixma MP270.
    First download Debian package from http://software.canon-europe.com/softwa … asp?model= (source codes package didn't work for me) to some temporary directory. Then execute as root:
    # pacman -S cups libtiff libpng12 deb2targz
    # ln -s /usr/lib/libtiff.so /usr/lib/libtiff.so.4
    # tar xf MP270_debian_driver_pack.tar
    # tar xzf cnijfilter-mp270series-3.20-1-i386-deb.tar.gz
    # cd cnijfilter-mp270series-3.20-1-i386-deb/packages/
    # deb2targz *
    # tar xzf cnijfilter-common_3.20-1_i386.tar.gz
    # tar xzf cnijfilter-mp270series_3.20-1_i386.tar.gz
    # cp -r usr /
    # /etc/rc.d/cups start
    It isn't very Arch way, but it worked for me just this way. Then add your printer in the CUPS administration page http://localhost:631/ by these steps:
    Administration > Add Printer > login as root > Canon MP270 series (Canon MP270 series) > you can rename it > Canon MP270 series Ver.3.20 (en) > Query Printer for Default Options
    For starting CUPS (which you need to print) at every boot add to /etc/rc.conf:
    DAEMONS=(... cups ...)
    If you're having some problems (for example jobs may appear as completed, but printer does nothing), you should change one line in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf:
    LogLevel debug
    and watch for errors with this command (try to print after calling this):
    $ tail -f /var/log/cups/error_log
    Installing MP270 as scanner is easier - run:
    $ yaourt -S scangearmp-mp270
    $ scangearmp
    You can create menu item /usr/share/applications/scangearmp.desktop:
    [Desktop Entry]
    Name=ScanGear
    Comment=Skenuje obrázky, noviny a rentgeny
    Exec=scangearmp
    Type=Application
    Categories=Graphics
    Icon=/usr/share/icons/homer_brain.jpg

    Glad it helped someone. Here is another tip:
    After the color toner dries or goes empty and you feel like you don't need a new one, don't remove it! The printer is stupid and won't print without it. Instead install GNOME Print manager (package system-config-printer-gnome), run it (system-config-printer) and then it goes like: MP270 > Properties > Job Options > in Advanced (at the bottom) type CNGrayscale and add it > set it to TRUE. These steps lead to making the printer print just by the black toner, otherwise gray color isn't guaranteed to be printed and non-black colors won't be printed at all.
    Thanks to Harbhag Singh Sohal and his original guideline - http://harbhag.wordpress.com/2010/07/03 … on-ubuntu/.
