Canon iR-ADV C7260 - Stuck in Queue until Reboot of Printer

Hello All,
Have an interesting issue going on with (2) Canon iR-ADV C7260 Printers.  Randomly every 2 to 3 days the printer queue on the users end machine will display the job but will not print it.
Troubleshooting leads me to believe it is printer related and not a network issue.  The printers are networked on our domain.  The printers are in separate buildings on the same network.
When the jobs get stuck in the queue I go power off the printer and bring it back up and the jobs continue to process and come out of the queue just fine.
Please let me know if you have any ideas.  The printers are configured using TCP/IP Raw 9100 ports.  I do find that they hang or have issues when the files being printed are larger in nature but not always the case.  I've had canon support reps out and they reccomend different drivers.
Is there a difference between the PS driver and the PSV driver?  If so can you shed some light on what that difference is?
Thanks all

  • Canon IR Adv 7055 PPD?

    Hello All.
I've been having a problem with my new iMac running 10.6.4 in regards to our Canon IR ADV 7055.
I can NOT get the printer to pull from the manual paper feed (ie: bi-pass).
I've tried multiple installs of different PPDs and just can't seem to find the right one.
I wasn't sure if anyone out here has had the same problem or could offer suggestions.
First off, the printer shows up as a Canon iR-ADV C9000s-A1 PSV1.0US on the network even though it's a 7055. (not sure if that's an issue or not.)
Secondly, should I be connecting via bonjor or LPD? Previous to 10.6.4 we were using bonjour. But a tech recently told me I should be using LPD.
I guess that's all the details I can think of. It's not a BIG issue, as I an print, but I'd really liked to get this fixed.

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Reading your post it looks like you have the imagePASS-A1 connected to the iR ADV C7055. This RIP supports the iR ADV C70xx series and the iR ADV C90xx series. The name that appears can be configured in the imagePASS. If you are using Canon PPDs instead of the imagePASS-A1 driver then this could explain your issue.
With the correct printer driver installed and queue created (which btw can be Bonjour or LPD or HP Jetdirect-Socket - it doesn't really matter) you should have a Fiery Features menu in the Print dialog. Within the Fiery Features menu there is a quick access panel and by default you will have a Paper Source menu, of which Stack Bypass is an option.
To get the imagePASS-A1 driver, simply open a web browser and enter the IP address of the imagePASS (7055). This will open the internal web page of the imagePASS and one of the pages here is the Download page, which contains the Windows and Mac drivers and utilities. With the driver downloaded and mounted you can run the installer to copy all the relevant files to the Mac. Then when you create your printer queue using Bonjour or IP you can select the "Canon iR-ADV C7000s-A1 PSV1.0US" via the Print Using menu.
Hope this helps you and reply if you have more questions.

  • Wireless print job stuck in queue

C5180 print jobs from network are stuck in queue and won't print.  I've reinstalled driver, etc.  Does print from a USB cable connection.  Any ideas?

I've got a similar problem with the officejet 5510 (multifunction) attached by USB to XP computer.  I can print direct (connected by USB) and wirelessly from my windows 7 laptop.  I can print direct (USB) from my Mac OS 10.4.11  However, when I print wirelessly from the Mac, the print job shows up in the que on the XP machine with the 5510 attached, but wont print.  I have to clear the spool from the command line.
I've set up the 5510 wirelessly by using the advanced windows printing via Samba, by Lpd to the IP address, and by simply adding the printer in the work group.  All three ways result in network traffic (I see it on the firewall log) and result in a document queued.
since there is no 5510 officejet (mutlifunction), I have set up the printer with the cups/gutenprint 5.2.7 profiles using several different printers - generic officejet, deskjet 950c, officejet 5110, designjet 5500ps, designjet 5000PS HP 9085MFP.
I can't get the print job out of the queue/spool and into the printer.
    Any thoughts?

  • Help connecting Canon iR-ADV C5030/5035 to Mac

Help connecting Canon iR-ADV C5030/5035 to Mac
When adding this printer via IP, 'Windows' and also the advance tool everything seems to work correctly. Once printing it goes through as if it has printed yet nothing comes out. As if it isnt communicating with the printer. Have also downloaded drivers from the canon website for the printer for mac.
Adding another cannon printer (Canon iR C3200 PCL) the same way works fine and am able to print from this printer.
Any ideas or suggestions to help solve this problem?
    Thanks

With Dept ID enabled, you need to open Printers & Scanners, select the C5035 printer in the list and then click on Options & Supplies. Then select the Utility tab and then Open Printer Utility. With the Canon utility open you will see the Printer Information button. Press this to open the Printer Information window that will confirm Dept ID Management is enabled in the copier as shown below.
Click OK to close the Printer Information window and then enable the Dept ID setting and enter your Dept ID and PIN. You will have the option to verify that your ID / PIN is correct and select not to use Dept ID printing when printing in B&W only. With the settings entered press the Save Settings button and then Quit the Canon driver utility.
Now open a document and select to print. Change the print dialog to Special Features and ensure that the Dept ID Management setting is enabled as shown below. You can also press the Settings button to check that your ID / PIN is set and you can verify it works. If all is good then see if you can print from this Mac.

  • Unable to print to Canon iR-Adv C5045 from MacBook Pro that is connected to Windows computer and shared on the network

I am unable to print to a Canon iR-Adv C5045 from a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.9.4) that is connected to Windows NT computer and shared on the company network.  I am connected to the network by ethernet.
I was able to add the printer manually by going to Advanced, Windows printer via spoolss, smb://computer name/printer name and used the Canon iR-ADV C5045/5051 driver.
When I print it appears to be printing but nothing comes out.  I checked the completed jobs from the Print Queue and the job is listed.  Checked the print log on the printer and it isn't listed.  Is there a different driver I should be using for this configuration?

You may not have a choice as to what driver you can use. If the ADV C5045 only has the default UFR2 printer kit, then you will have to use the UFR2 driver - which is what you are using now. If you can access the copier, press the Counter Check button on the control panel. Then on the display you will see an entry labelled Check Device Configuration. Select this and scroll down through the pages. You are looking for an entry called PS. If you see it then the Canon does have the optional Postscript printer kit enabled and this will let you use an alternate driver. One suggestion would be to create the printer again using the same setting that you have done already but this time select the Generic Postscript driver included with the OS rather than use the Canon driver. This will help to determine if the driver is the cause.
If there is no PS option you will have to use the UFR2 driver and this could be the problem, as the Canon drivers don't always work well on a Mac via a Windows share. As a test, are you able to create a print queue directly to the Canon rather than via the Windows share? If you can, then this will let you check if the driver currently installed will work, as there can be settings on the copier that can block/stop you from printing. Assuming that you can print to the Canon with a direct connection from the Mac, then we can work on getting the printing via the shared queue. But if it doesn't print directly from the Mac, then it confirms that it may not be the server and more to do with the copier.

  • Canon IR-Adv 5045 printing error 'Filter' failed

I just upgrade our office to include 7 new Mac Pro towers and one iMac. All of the towers had no problems when upgrading the print drivers for our Canon printer.  The iMac (only) returns a print error and will not print to the device. If anyone can read the error code in the consule and direct me how to fix the error I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Canon iR-ADV C5045 - "An error has occurred.: -50"

At work, I just got an iMAC i5 quadcore 27" to work with. (It's the only mac in the office). I am trying to connect it with the printer network. I downloaded the necessary drivers from the Canon site "Canon iR-ADV C5045/5051 UFR II".
However, when I try to print, I get the follow message:
    *Canon UFR II Printer Driver*
    *An error occurred.: -50*
Is there something I am doing wrong?

    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Select the Canon in the printers list and click the minus button
    3. Click the plus button to add a new printer
    4. Select the IP icon in the toolbar
    5. Change the drop menu to Line Printer Daemon - LPD.
    6. Enter the IP address of the Canon
    7. Leave the Queue name blank
    8. Change the Name to something helpful, such as Canon Color Printer
    9. Leave the Location blank or enter something that will help you
    10. In the Print Using menu, change to 'Select printer software' and then type C5045 to short list the installed printers
    11. With the correct model selected click Add
    12. Don't worry about the installable options window when it appears. Just click OK to complete the queue creation.
You are now ready to print to the C5045 using the LPD protocol.

  • Canon iR-ADV driver and Mavericks update

I am trying to add a Canon iR-ADV C55035 to a mac running mavericks 10.9.3. (I think) The printer/copier is on a network at work in a Windows environment.
I found the software at Canon and downloaded it. It was the PS version and it said it was good through Mavericks 10.9.1. I added the printer as an IP printer as the network is wireless. The mac now 'sees the printer' and can communicate with it. But when I go to print something, the log says the print job had 0 output and 0 copies. I tried a word document, an image. The log says the same thing 0 output, 0 copies. The rest of the computers are able to print fine. I am wondering if the updated Mavericks from a few days ago, might have caused the problem and Canon hasn't updated the driver.  The other option might be that the driver should be the UFRII version (what ever that is) Help?
    Thanks.

Based on what you have written the ADV C5035 does not have the optional Postscript (PS) kit installed. It has nothing to do with any Mavericks update.
So you will have to use the UFR2 driver you mention, which is a Canon proprietary printer language and the default printer kit in the Canon iR devices.
Note that when creating the network print queue you must use the HP Jetdirect-Socket protocol. IPP is not supported by the driver and some users have had issues with the LPD protocol.

  • Acrobat 9 and Canon iR-ADV C2030 issues

I have a user running 10.7.5 on a 2ghz MacBook Pro who constantly has issues printing PDFs to various printers.  When she prints tabloid PDFs to our copier (Canon iR-ADV C2030), the prints come out fine.  When she prints tabloid PDFs to any of our other printers (Xerox Phaser 7750 & 7800, HP LaserJet 5200) the prints come out the wrong size.  It looks fine in the preview before she prints.  I had reset her printing system, gone into the localhost settings and wiped her preferences.  Only happens with PDFs, but it took a while to properly diagnose the issue (very busy user).
After much testing, this is what I've come up with:  It ONLY happens with Adobe Acrobat 9, and only after printing to the Canon.  The user can first print a tabloid PDF to our HP and Xerox machines with no issue.  She can then print to the Canon with no ill effects.  But once she prints there, it messes up the Acrobat preferences and she can no longer print tabloid correctly to any other printer but the Canon.  The PDFs come out on letter at tabloid size (i.e., top corner oreinted with the rest of the image off the paper).  Odd one.  The problem does not occur with Acrobat X.

    Hi gangadhar kh
    just few checks
    1) inside the queue check if any message got stuck due to some error . if QOS for that message is EOIO then it will not allow other messages to process until this is not processed
process that and rest message will get processed
    2) ask you basis team to update java kernel so that on production system this queue stuck problem should not happen frequently
    3) to restart java stack

  • Trouble connecting to Canon iR-ADV C5030/5030

    Hello,
I have a new MacBook Air (OS X 10.9.2), and I am having trouble printing from my office's Canon iR-ADV C5030/5030.  Does Canon have the appropriate drivers for OS X 10.9.2?  I'm a new Mac user and utterly lost!
    Thanks!

There are two printer drivers available for the Canon printer board.
There is the UFR2 v10.1.0 and the PS3 v4.00 driver. I would try the UFR2 driver first, as all iR copiers have this protocol as standard. To use the PS3 driver, you would need to have the Postscript kit installed, which is an option in most regions.
So with the UFR2 driver, after you download the file, unpack the dmg and run the installer. When the installer has completed, open Print & Scan and click the plus button to add. If the little Nearby Printers window appears select Add Printer or Scanner. With the Add window showing, select the IP icon and then enter the IP address of the C5030. Then select the Line Printer Daemon - LPD protocol. Leave the Queue blank. Change the Name from the IP address to something more meaningful to you. Enter a location if you want to and then in the Use menu, click on Select Printer Software. With the new window that appears, type in C50 in the filter section. This will short list the installed drivers, and show the two model groups of the C50xx series. Select the one showing the C5030 and click OK. Then click Add to complete the install.
Now that the printer is created you can try and print to it. If this errors, then please reply.

  • Can't get Canon iR-ADV C5250 printer to work on Yosemite

Can't get Canon iR-ADV C5250 printer to work on Yosemite; keep getting "printer is not responding."
I did try and install the driver for Mavericks first. I *have* deleted printer and appropriate /Library files. And re-installed using "UFRII_v10.06.00_Mac.dmg" which is the equivalent of what worked on the previous Macbook Air.
We do use Dept. ID Management. I know how to set that up.  Although we do not use a PIN.  Again in other macs and computers that's not an issue.
    PAHU? :-)
    Thanks!
    David

    Hi David,
Sorry for the late reply. Printer not responding is typically an issue with the protocol or the wrong network address. Easiest way to check that the correct IP address has been used is to enter the IPv4 address into a web browser on the Mac. This should result in you connecting to the internal web page of the C5250. If this does happen, then you know the IP address used to create the printer was correct.
As for the protocol, the UFR2 driver supports LPD and HP Jetdirect-Socket. It does not support IPP. And there have been some users who have found even the LPD protocol will not communicate with the printer, so check that you are using HP Jetdirect-Socket. If you cannot remember what protocol was used when creating the queue, then you can open System Information (Applications > Utilities) and then select Printers in the left column. If you have more than one printer on this Mac, the top right pane will list them. Select the C5250 to see its information in the bottom right pane. Then look for the entry of URI. This is the print queue. It should show socket://ip-address, indicating the HP Jetdirect-Socket was used. If it shows lpd or ipp then you know one of the other protocols was used.
Hope this helps. Reply if you need more assistance.

My Mac book pro won't print to canon IR-ADV C5035 wirelessly but my I pad will

It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.
Please describe in detail all you have attempted to do in order to resolve the issue.  Contacted Canon's tech support for instance?

  • Canon IR Adv 5030 on 10.6 Client

    Hi Guys,
Have come across an issue with Canon IR Adv 5030 photocopier on 10.6 clients deployed via WGM from 10.6 Server. Get Illegal Ticket error when trying to print. Prints ok if add printer/driver manually on 10.6 client. But if via 10.6 Server to 10.6 client it fails.
Get denied error messages in console in reference to CUPS.
    any ideas?
    Shane

There was a similar post a couple of years ago on the Leopard printing forum, where the Canon UFR2 driver would display this symptom, ie does not work if deployed via WGM. The only solution the OP found was to use the Canon PPDs rather than the Canon UFR2 or PS driver. These full drivers would not work, although checking the folder content (HD > Library > Printers > Canon > UFR2 or CUPSPS) showed that the driver content appeared to be the same as the local install.
I would suggest you could also look at doing the same, however you will have to ensure that the 5030 does have the Postscript kit in order to use the PPDs. Via the Counter Check button you can select Device Configuration to see if the copier does have the PS option installed.

  • Canon iR-ADV C7055 Missing Paper Sizes

We have a Canon iR-ADV C7055 using the imagePass A1 Fiery controller.
When I try to print tabs (9"x11") from Adobe InDesign CS5, I go to the Print dialog box, click Setup and click on the Paper Size drop down menu. Tab Paper (Letter) is missing, which does not allow me to choose the correct paper size. Tab Paper (A4) does show up, so I'm wondering if this is an issue with InDesign or the print driver itself.
I have confirmed that this is also an issue in Acrobat as well.

    Nathaniel Mccance wrote:
In the interest of curiosity, I created a document in InDesign CS4 to see if I could choose "Tab Paper (Letter)" and, lo and behold, there it was in the Adobe print "Setup" dialog box (but is peculiarly missing from the OS X "Page Setup" dialog box).
Tried ID CS4 also and could see the same paper sizes. CS4 must be referencing the different section of the PPD compared to OS X's page setup.
For some reason, InDesign CS5 does not see "Tab Paper (Letter)" as a Paper Size option.
Don't have CS5 to confirm this but if it is relying more on the OS X print system rather than doing it own thing, which CS4 and earlier certainly did, then this makes some sense.
One of the concerns I have with using the method prescribed by you is that when the page area is rasterized to the printer, it may cut off the image at the edge of the tabs that is not included in the "Letter" page size.
Understood but it is worth trying. I could only see this as an issue if you were trying to print on the tab ear.
