Canon Issues. As with everyone else.

I've had great success with Canon and iMovie on my macbook. Now It's time to use the GL2 with FCE on my G5. It worked the first couple of times, then it quit recognizing it... but I was still able to use capture now. However, today is a new day.
When connecting the GL2 via FW400 I see it in the system profiler as an "Unknown Device." If I daisy chain it through my Lacie 2BigTriple (FW800) I get nothing...
The GL2 has also been known to freeze FCE and then "disconnect" my lacie. It then takes forever to restart... unless I unplug or turn off the camera.
Basically, Why won't Canon cameras connect? This is crazy and I have myself because I have an HV20 being shipped to me tomorrow at 10:30 am. Was this a mistake? (as in should I have bought a Sony...) Will I ever be able to connect this camera to my ol' computer?

The problem is the Firewire implementation on the Canon camera. Disconnect your Lacie drive (and any other Firewire devices connected to your G5). Make sure your GL2 is the only device connected to the G5's Firewire ports. Capture to your internal drive.
You might consider getting a separate FireWire card for your G5 in order to have a second Firewire bus. Then you could connect your Canon cam to the card and your Lacie drive to the G5's onboard Firewire ports. Since they will be on separate Firewire busses there will be no conflict.
OWC can recommend a card that should work.

Looking to see if this NFS issue is universal with everyone else

First I followed these directions exactly (and our filer is a Netapp):

So the database has been created as per the end of these instructions. Nothing customized. No data populated or anything of any substance has been done yet.
But if I now follow the instructions in this link (you do need a Netapp NOW login, but basically on the filer you do a nfstat -z to clear the stats, then nfsstat -l to see the top talkers, and then nfsstat -h <IP> to see the kind of traffic per host):

My top two servers by a long shot are the brand new RAC Nodes. Even more than the VMware NFS IP's used to carry all the guest vm traffic. After 10 minutes the top host had 450,000 NFSOPS. The third highest was less than 50,000.
The bottom of that netapp link states "If it looks like it is the culprit that is generating too many getattr, access, or other requests at a rate of 50% or higher at the expense of reads and writes, you should work with your UNIX vendor or support team to analyze that data and determine what processes on the host are running against the filer to cause so many unoptimized requests."
My values for "getattr" and "access" are 62% and 35% of the total traffic. My reads and writes are 2% and 1% respectively. According to Netapp this is a problem and hugely unoptimized. What the heck is Oracle or CRS doing? Anybody with a similar setup see the same thing? Is this a cause for concern? Should we bring it up with Technical Support or is this expected behavior for Oracle/RAC? Let me know what you all are seeing.

We have NetApp 3020c and using a physical Dell PE 1435 server with RHEL 5.3 and Oracle 10.2.0.3 RAC.

HP account login issues - just like everyone else - rant alert

Rant Are there any plans for HP to consolidate their various systems to allow you to use the same acct login (email/password) across the different platforms (cloud, eprint, etc)? Being able to recover the account information (passwords, login id, etc) on one system and yet still not be able to use this same email on another system is idiotic. Either consolidate them into one or separate them completely. The current situation is a major headache for the consumer. /Rant
I'm trying to setup eprint. My password is apparently incorrect for the email being used, but the system will not send a reset link to that address because the address is in use by another HP system. ??? My notes indicate I have a cloud acct associated to this email address. The password I have on file does not work there. Attempts to reset the password through the cloud system have been unsuccessful. The system responds that a password reset link will be sent if the email address is on file, but no links have been sent so far. I was able to reset the password on this forum for this same email address, but alas this password is not fanned out to the other systems so I'm still stuck.

The issue you're experiencing is most likely due to an old Snapfish account registered under your email address. ePrintCenter and Snapfish account information is stored in the same place and I've seen this conflict before. You will need to go to http://www.snapfish.com/snapfish/welcome, click the "Sign In" in the top right hand corner of the page and then click the "forgot password" link and enter the email address that is causing your problems, you should receive an email from Snapfish that will let you create a new password there. Once you've created a new password for Snapfish, try to Sign In on ePrintCenter (http://www.eprintcenter.com/) using your email address and the new password you created for Snapfish.

Can't use iMessage with one person but can with everyone else and he can iMessage me

So my husband has an iPhone 5c and up until recently has has iMessage turned off. He turned it back on recently and my phone hasn't figured that out yet. It still sends texts to him as SMS instead of through iMessage, yet any texts he sends to me come in as iMessage. What gives and how can I fix it?

Battery Issues...Same As Everyone Else

So a friend of mine has the last PowerBook, the 1.67 GHz Dual Layer. She has had it into two Apple authorized repair centers and still when she pulls the power cord out it shuts down.
I looked in the System Profiler and noticed the battery had zero charge and the light on the adapter wasn't amber, just green. I put the battery in an older PowerBook and it charged for a little bit then stopped. I put it back in the original PowerBook where it wouldn't charge and it eventually kicked in and received a full charge. Then subsequently went back to it's former bad behavior.
I asked her to let me take the PowerBook into the Apple Store and talk to the Genius but she went alone and they basically sent her home saying re-install the OS. I am a computer tech and fairly Mac savvy and this being an OS issue makes no sense to me. What stories have the Apple Geniuses given everyone else? Your take on this?

When there are battery-related issues, it's typically for one of three reasons: power adapter, battery, or logic board.

On the power adapter, if you have a multimeter, you can also check for output voltage.
You can test the logic board by using the Apple hardware test. Insert the first OS X DVD that came with the system, reboot holding the option key down, choose the Apple hardware test and follow directions.
If the power adapter checks out OK and the Apple hardware test doesn't point out any issues, then the battery is suspect.

According to your description, my understanding is that “Shared with everyone” OneDrive folder does not work in your SharePoint 2013.
For your issue, please check whether everyone has the permission of accessing “Shared with everyone” OneDrive folder.
You can go to your OneDrive -> My Documents. Click Sharing column of “Shared with everyone” folder, make sure it is shared with everyone:

If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud on each device, yes. However, you can use the same Apple ID for iTunes content on each device, but different Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc., on each device. That way, you can have whatever iTunes content you want on each phone, but keep all of the other data separate. You can create another Apple ID here:

Try this:
Go to System Preferences - Bluetooth. Delete the keyboard from the list of devices by pressing the "-" button. Take the batteries out of the keyboard and reinsert them. In Bluetooth Preferences press the '+" button to add the new device. If the keyboard begins to pair, click the word "pair" and type in the passcode. Press return. The keyboard is now paired.
If the mouse is not pairing, try this: shut down the computer completely, unplug any USB mice, then turn off the power to the bluetooth mouse. ONce the computer starts up again, wait for the pop-up looking for a mouse. Turn on the power to the bluetooth mouse. It should work normally now.

If this is an Alienware system, the most likely culprit is the Bigfoot Networks LSP as per the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
Head to the Downloads and Drivers page at Dell for your particular model of Alienware. Look for available updates for your BigFoot networking device. If you update those drivers, does that give you back your Store access?

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Delete background Apps from memory and then Reset.
To Delete background Apps, double click Home button, in the bar at bottom, hold down on an App Icon until the minus sign appears, tap all the minus signs, until all background Apps are cleared from memory. Then Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart itself, ignor the 'slide to power off' let the iPhone restart itself. Usually takes about 10 seconds of holding both buttons.

Why do I only have 1x service this morning and cannot send texts or get service while everyone else around me with verizon have full coverage?

My phone was working at 8:00 AM this morning and now it only gets 1x coverage and I cannot make any calls or texts and I have no internet service. Everyone else has full coverage that has Verizon and I want to know why. I already reset my network settings.

Why would you think a problem with Verizon when you have already stated everyone else with Verizon has full coverage?
Have you updated your iPhone to the new iOS 8/8.0.1/8.0.2??? Apple has been having problems with cellular connectivity with the new OS and is currently working on the 3rd update to iOS 8 in less than a month. Hopefully this will be pushed out soon and will fix many of the problems people have been having.
