Canon laser priner + OSX 10.4.11

I am considering adding a Canon MF4350d 'all in one' laser printer to my mother in law's imac. I looks like I will need to access the driver(s) from Canon. Some reviews say this is really for a PC machine and but some Mac owners love this. It is priced right ($150) but I don't want it to be a big PITA.
This is a printer / copier for a 87 year old who just wants the thing to print and copy without the constant need for ink with a inkjet option.
Thanks,
John

  • Canon Laser Shot LBP 1120 Driver

    Hi,
    Can anyone help me with a solution to getting my Canon Laser printer LBP 1120 to work with my Mac.  I have trawled through the internet and although I know it is not Mac compatible, there are people out there who have got it working one way or another.  I have tried downloading various drivers (one in Japanese) and although it almost worked, it prints blank pages.  It loaded the drivers and recognisest he printer and when I send a document to print it feeds the paper though but it comes out blank.
    Please help I have already spent days on this.
    Thanks.

    The LBP-1120 was released in 2002. It uses Canon's proprietary CAPT protocol which was originally written for Windows only. I've never seen a OS X version of CAPT driver that supports this model and the current CAPT v3.65 that supports 10.9 does not list the LBP-1120 as supported.

  • I want to use my jetpack 890L as a wireless router to allow wireless printing with a canon laser printer. Is this possible, and does the jetpack support WPS?

    I want to use my jetpack 890L as a wireless router to enable wireless printing with a canon laser printer. Is this possible, and does the jetpack support WPS?

    I’ve used several wireless printers with a 4510 and 5510 Jetpack and they all print just fine. The MHS890L does not support WPS. The WPS Wikipedia article briefly addresses the reason why you should not use WPS.  If you’re having trouble setting up your printer the manufacturer has a toll free support line to help you. Your Jetpack has the Wi-Fi Password on the bottom, under the battery, and or in the LED display.

    Hello shobhamarujolla!  This particular model was not sold in the US.  We would suggest contacting the Canon division it was purchased for further assistance.  Just visit our homepage at http://www.canon.com and then select the region your unit was purchased to locate their contact information.  They may be be able to point you in the right direction!

  • HT3669 Canon laser printer LBP7750C and a Mac Book Air with OS X 1.8.4??

    Hi! I have a Canon laser printer LBP7750C and a Mac Book Air with OS X 1.8.4, but I can't get it to function. After installning the printer, via Ethernet network (Apple Time Capsule) and IP-number, it seems to connects ok but can't print. Anyone has a solution or tip? Thanks!

    One possible cause for your symptom is the printer driver you are using. If you have installed the Postscript (PS) driver but your LPB7750 does not have the PS kit installed, then this can stop a document from printing. So I would suggest you download and install the UFR2 v10.10 driver.
    If you are using the UFR2 driver then the other cause for this symptom is the IP protocol. This driver and the PS driver must be configured using the LPD protocol. If you have selected IPP or HP Jetdirect when creating the print queue, then this will stop you from printing. So remove the printer from Print & Scan and add it again, this time selecting LPD for the protocol.
    Another cause can be you have the wrong IP address. To check that the address is correct, type the IP address into a web browser. This will result in a connection to the internal web page of the printer if the IP address is correct.

  • Error -50 with Canon MF9170, Mac OSX 10.6.4

    Hi all!
    This is my first post ever in this forum - I'm quite new to Mac OS.
    I am trying to install a Canon multifunctional colour laser printer MF9170 (amlost the same as MF8450) under 10.6.4 (Mac Pro 3,1) with the Canon UFR II V2.10 driver (networ install). I repeatedly get an error "-50". After hours on the telephone with the Canon helpdesk I have no idea what to try next. The printer is running perfectly under Linux
    Here is what I tried so far:
    - Installation attempt on a factory-new MacBook pro i5
    - Installation via USB
    - Installation attempts with all available UFR II drivers from NZ and Europe
    - Fixed permissions on HD
    - Set printer queue name as "LD" as PAHU suggested
    I can ping the printer, it shows up on my web browser so I guess the network config is fine. I made it print once but the next day after rebooting the Mac -50 started to show again. Canon helpdesk is at it's wits end and so am I. Does somebody has had a similar problem or could help me out here?
    Thanks a lot to everyone taking the time to read this!

    Hello Jorg,
    Thanks for the detailed information. That clears up things for me and it tells me that you do have a direct connection - in that the Mac connects directly to the MF via Ethernet with only the switch in between - which is fine.
    Regarding the subnet, what you have shown is the subnet mask and this determines the subnet. A subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 means that the first three sets of numbers in the IP address is the subnet and the last number is the network address. For a mask of 255.255.0.0, only the first two sets of numbers are the IP subnet while the last two are the network address.
    For example, an IP address of 192.168.0.10 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 means that the subnet is 192.168.0 while the network address is 10. Without a gateway/router, all devices need to be on the same subnet if they are to communicate with each other. That said, since you are able to connect to the internal web page of the MF, this would indicate that your MacPro and the MF are on the same subnet - which should be the case if you are using DHCP.
    But what you may have is some sort of blocking from the switch or Little Snitch that is stopping the non-standard port used by the bidirectional communication - although since the Linux server is working then this would rule out the switch. Note that the standard ports of 80 for web pages and 515 for the LPD port are usually open by default, hence those items are working, but the comms by the UFR2 driver are usually non-standard, like 47545 for the bigger imageRUNNER devices. I will need to check what port the UFR2 communicates on tomorrow and reply. This could be the cause. If the machine supported some other printer language then we could at least try one of the Generic drivers - like PCL. But looking at Canon specs it shows that the model is UFRII only so we have no alternative we can try.
    Can you confirm that the Linux server is using the UFR2 driver and if you are using the 'cngplp' command to print from the server. Can you also reassure me that you are not connecting to the Linux server from the Mac, but entering the IP address of the printer for the LPD queue.

  • Fuji Xerox Basic B&W Laser Priner P205B - Any chance?

    Just purchased this laser printer without checking driver support, doh!
    It seems a relatively new printer  and most google searches related to fuji/linux/drivers bring up older (more industrial heavy weight) models.
    http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/en/ … p205b.aspx
    I appreciate there is obviously no magic driver, but if I wanted to troubleshoot this myself where would I start?

    Firstly, I found a project 'a linux printer driver for HBPL protocol'  contains some HBPL printer drivers.
    foo2hbpl contains driver of p105b/p205b .
    The website is http://foo2hbpl.rkkda.com/
    I tested it in archlinux.
    Works very smoothly with cups.
    Enjoy it.
    Secondly,most FUJI XEROX provide Mac OSX drivers. In this drivers ,PPDs can directly be used in CUPS.
    Steps of extraing PPD file as following:
    1. Download the Mac OSX drivers from Fuji Xerox's site as name fxdpm255df_z0039m109ml.img
    2. $ yaourt -S dmg2img
    3. Convert the dmg file into an image:
        $ dmg2img fxdpm255df_z0035m108ml.dmg  m255.img
    4. Mount the obtained image:
        # pacman -S hfsprogs
        $ mkdir img
        # mount -t hfsplus -o force m255.img img
    5. Use xar (yum install xar) to extract the pkg file:
        $ yaourt -S xar
        $ cp img/FX\ DocuPrint\ M255\ df_z\ Installer.pkg .
        $ mkdir m255 && cd m255
        $ xar -xf ../FX\ DocuPrint\ M255\ df_z\ Installer.pkg
    6. Inside the extracted folders, locate and copy the Payload file with the PPDs:
        $ cp 105ppdsm255df.pkg/Payload ../Payload.cpio.gz
    7. Gunzip the file and extract the cpio archive:
        $ cd ..
        $ gunzip Payload.cpio.gz
        $ mkdir ppd && cd ppd
        $ cpio -id < ../Payload.cpio
    8. Voilà! your PPD files :
        $ cd PPDs/Contents/Resources/
        $ ls
    FX DocuPrint M255 df Fax.ppd.gz  FX DocuPrint M255 z Fax.ppd.gz
    FX DocuPrint M255 df.ppd.gz      FX DocuPrint M255 z.ppd.gz
    9. import  FX DocuPrint M255 df.ppd.gz or FX DocuPrint M255 z.ppd.gz to cups and then printer is OK.
    Lastly,I install p205b drivers in this way. I get error like this: /usr/lib/cups/fxhr2ap is not found.
    I extra the fxhr2ap like above, the error is still  there.
    And, I guess the error cause by this:
    $ file fxhr2ap
    fxhr2ap: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures: [ppc: Mach-O ppc executable] [i386: Mach-O i386 executable]
    fxhr2ap  cannot run in archlinux.

    Hi!
    I purchased a Canon CP 810 which worked impecably with 10.6, until I upgraded to 10.9 Mavericks - drivers are incompatible.
    Any idea on how will I be able to make work
    Thank you.

    Download the driver from Canon (it's for a Selphy 900): http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/compact_p hoto_printers/selphy_cp900#DriversAndSoftware
    Thanks to kt3806st, my Selphy CP760 is now working perfectly:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/24537553#24537553
    I made only one change to the suggestion in the link which was I downloaded CP900 driver and installed that one instead of the CP800 driver.  Just follow all of the steps from kt380st (it was like 3 steps that took no more than 5 mins). The driver version is 6.3.0.2 once installed.
    I tried the link that John posted but it caused my printing to freeze up and not print from iPhoto.
