If you are trying to print using the printer you created when it was connected to the Mac via USB, then this printer will not work when you have it connected to the USB port of the Airport Express. It will give you the message you are getting, as the printer is no longer connected directly to the Mac via USB cable. The solution is to create a new printer for the Airport connected printer.

With previous versions of the Canon CAPT driver, you have not been able to print when the printer is connected to the USB port of an Airport device. This was due to limitations with the CAPT driver. I am not sure if this is still the case with the latest version of the CAPT driver but I would expect it to be so.
You could try connecting the LBP to the Airport Express USB port and then creating a new printer in Printers & Scanners. Once this is complete then see if you can print. I expect it to fail but I cannot test until I return to work next week.

  • Buffalo Nas Navigator2 doesn't work with Mavericks

    Hello,
    On my Mac Pro (5.1) Buffalo Nas Navigator2 (v2.69 & v1.71) doesn't work with Mavericks :-(
The window opens and closes immediately (approximately 2s).
According the Buffalo support, all the versions works with Mac OS (including Mavericks ?)
    Thank you for your help.
    Regards
    Olivier
PS: the firewall is not enabled

    Hello Mark,
    Thank you for your message.
For your information, I have no problem with the Finder (I don't use cifs), I can see my LinkStation. The problem is only with Nas Navigator.
Yesterday I tried to use LinkNavigator: Link Navigator installs Nas Navigator and tried to connect to the Link Station, and I could see a message like "no Link Station found on the network" while I have 4 Link Station :-(
I believe that Finder and Nas Navigator do not use the same protocol.
It's curious that the support of Buffalo are not aware about the problem between Nas Navigator and Maverick.

PS: I also use fixed IP ;-)

  • Sharing Canon LBP7010C no longer works in Mavericks

I've noticed there's plenty of troubles with network printing in Mavericks. Here's mine:
I have an MacBook Air 2012 and a new iMac, with Canon LBP7010C connected to it. Both computers have the most recent (10.9 compatible) drivers installed and can print via USB. The printer, shared by the iMac, shows up in the printer settigns and everything seems OK.
However, when I try to print from the MacBook Air, the job starts, goes on for a while and then the entire printing queue simply pauses. The printer doesn't even wake up and the job doesn't appear in the Canon's monitor on the iMac, so I assume MacBook has troubles connecting to the iMac and the printer to begin with.
I should add that sharing the printer worked properly under 10.8.
I've tried reinstalling the drivers, removing the printer and adding it again and other typical troubleshooting steps, but to no avail. Is there anything else I could try? Anyone has any luck sharing this type of printer over local network?
    Thanks in advance.

    Follow up:
    1. Selecting Generic PS printer works. Thanks for this suggestion. I cannot set any of the printer-specific settings, but I can print over Wi-Fi when I need it. That's something.
    2. In Japan printer servers made by Silex (C-6600GB and a others) are officially recommended by Canon and listed on their page as compatible with their printers. If I understand correctly (I'm not a specialist), Canon printers require two-way communication between computer and the printer (as the page is being rendered by the computer rather than the printer, compressed and then send to the device) and most generic print servers do not support that functionality.
Unfortunately that means Silex' print servers require special software of its own to connect with a Mac. This software won't install on 10.9 and may be incompatible with Maverics to begin with (it includes a kernel extension). It also isn't clear if the serwer would work with LBP7010c at all, even though it does support this model of the printer on Windows (documentation on the Silex' site is outdated and lists LBP7010C as lacking any Mac driver support from Canon, which isn't true).
This is, coincidentally, the reason why these Canon printers won't work with the Airport base stations either.
    3. Canon is forcing some sort of proprietary printing technology (CAPT) rather than go with standard solutions. Too bad I've learned too late about the related inconvenience. The drivers have worked properly with my 10.8 Macs and only now in 10.9 the fact basic OS X features (printer sharing) are unsuported has come to my attention. I'm waiting for the support to reply right now, but I'm not particualrly impressed by Canon right now and would probably advice against buying their products for Mac.

  • Canoscan 4400f still doesn't work with mavericks

Followed some earlier threads and downloaded appropriate toolbox and driver, but still doesn't work. I see discussion on the TwainBridge.app but not finding it.

I use a 2007 iMac with 4 GB RAM and Mavericks (10.9). The 4400F support page shows Canoscan Toolbox 5 and a driver for 10.9. Great I thought!!! I downloaded and installed both. Toolbox doesn't even launch. I have to force quit it. The driver installed but I cant add the scanner in System Prefs-Printers & Scanners, does not show up. Vuescan sees it but will not function. No preview, nothing. Image Capture (my fav app for scanning till this) does not see the scanner at all.  I have sent feedback on the OS X page as well. From what I can see, just about all scanning (HP/Epson/Canon) was disabled after a Mavericks update. I am waiting for someone (Apple or Canon) to step up and fix this.

  • I just downloaded Maverick on my Macbook Pro from 2011.  When I try to open iPhoto, it says that I have an old version that doesn't work with Maverick.  None of the solutions stated on this forum work for me, because there are no options displayed.

After downloading Maverick on the MacBook Pro that I bought in 2011, I am unable to open iPhoto. The message says "You can't use this version of the application "iPhoto" with this version of OS X.  You have "iPhoto" 9.2.3"  What???  That is ridiculous.  Why doesn't Maverick download everything?  I've tried the "fixes" I found on this forum, but none of them work for me, because there is no workaround via the library.  I can't access the library.

I have an old iPhoto version and it still works with Mavericks, the version before yours, that is puzzling.

  • FCP7 doesn't work on mavericks

  • My Canon printer doesn't work after updating

    Hi everybody.
Everytime when I update software, my printer doesn't work. I use Canon i-sense lbp3010b. For example, when I try to print out a document, I press the PRINT button (in any application) and it opens the printer application. It shows the message "Printing…" for some 3 minutes, then shows "Paused". I try to resume the process, but it doesn't help-the same scenario, again. Once, I have another problem on printer, which printed only graphics, not text. I solved this problem downloading the printer driver from canons austrian web-site, but it doesn't help either anymore.

Might be best to delete device driver for printer before updating.  Then try setting your printer up afterwards.  The update may have some compatibility issues.  I'm sure there will be updates and bug fixed in the near future.  There have been a lot of issues with the recent lion software updates especially.  Best thing I can say is be patient and make sure you submit this issue to apple.

  • ICloud Mail doesn't work with Maverick

    Hi
I bought a new iMac last week and migrate my profiles from my old MacBook Pro.
After I configured iCloud i noticed that Mail doesn't work. All other stuff like calender, contacts etc works fine...
Mail seems to not load the icloud account. But with other mail accounts like hotmail it works.
Than i made a new user profile and tried if icloud work there. And it works. So my problem must be on my user profile.
I tried to restore permissions, without success.
I installed Maverick again, without success.
Please help me, I'm getting crazy.

    Hello antoniode,
Congratulations on your new iMac!  Also, thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iCloud email account.
You have taken some really good troubleshooting steps already.  I recommend continuing with the steps in the sections titled "If you can't send mail in OS X Mail" and "If you can't receive mail in OS X Mail" in the following article:

  • Pairing bluetooth presenter doesn't work on Mavericks anymore. Did work on SL.

I have a bluetooth remote presenter. It has the usual keys (next, previous, volume, play/pause, start default music player) and it also has a small touchpad / trackpad with left and right buttons, scrolling buttons.
The remote is great and it served me well under Windows and OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. Now since I bought a new machine with Maverics, I can't pair it. The bluetooth utility looks different on Mavericks. Certain things missing, such as making Bluetooth discoverable or not in the way of simplification of things (Thanks Apple, but this wasn't big issue) or oversimplification of things, where there seems to be no access to Bluetooth device details and no way to add device without pairing code.
The remote is recognized as mouse with keyboard, which makes things worse, there is not only no code on the device, even if there is one (or if it would except 0000, 0000000, or similar), I have no way to enter it.
Unfortunately Maverics made things simple but useless for some bluetooth devices. It's unnecessary.
Seems like I will be stuck with Snow Leopard on one of my machines forever.
When I look in console on SL, here is what I see:
2014-06-28 8:23:11.268 AM System Preferences[7658]: [establishKernelConnection] Received an error from IOServiceOpen() - 0x10000003.  NULLing out io_service_t.
There is an entry like this every time I try to pair.
The Bluetooth manager window says --
    "Pairing failed"
When I go to Options, it shows the field to enter code. No matter what I enter there or if I leave empty, I won't be able to pair.
Otherwise BT works fine on Maverics, I have Apple keyboard, Logitech kayboard, Apple and Logitech trackpad and audio device connected, no issue.
The Remote presenter works also fine and I tried to re-pair it with other non-Mavericks machines and works fine too.

    Hello,
Today I was trying to pair my MacBook Pro with a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 8000, which is a bluetooth mouse with no pairing code. I had used this mouse previously with Snow Leopard with (almost) no problems, but initially I couldn't find a way to pair this mouse in Mavericks, seemingly because the mouse lacks a pairing code and I must always enter one with this version of OS X.
Luckily I found a solution that worked for me. I'm going to post it here in case it helps polocanada or somebody else with a similar problem. In my case it involves using a BootCamp partition with Windows (Win7 in my case) with the Apple BootCamp drivers installed and started as a virtual machine using Parallels, but it may be possible to achieve the same result without a BootCamp partition (check the end of the post for more information)
These are the steps that need to be carried out:
    1) Start the BootCamp Windows install using a virtual machine and connect the "Apple USB Bluetooth Host Controller" device to the virtual machine.
If BootCamp drivers were previously installed the Bluetooth device should be seen by Windows without problems.
    2) Pair the mouse with the Windows install. This pairs the mouse with the Mac's bluetooth controller, just in the wrong OS.
    3) Find out the mouse's Bluetooth ID. For Windows 7, right click the Bluetooth icon located in the task bar and click in Show Bluetooth devices. In the window that opens, right click in your mouse's icon and click Properties. Open the Bluetooth tab and copy somewhere the contents of the Unique Identifier field (six groups of two digits separated by colons). My Windows 7 is in Spanish so the texts may not be exactly the same as posted here in English.
    4) Add the mouse's ID to the Mac. Open a terminal window in OSX and enter the following text: (substitute aa-bb-cc-dd-ee-ff with your mouse's Unique Identifier, changing the colons with hyphens)
    sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth HIDDevices -array-add "aa-bb-cc-dd-ee-ff"
And enter your account's password when asked.
    5) Disconnect the "Apple USB Bluetooth Host Controller" device from the virtual machine. The mouse should "just work" in OS X at this point.
Credit goes to this website. This is where I found the terminal command posted above.
In case you don't have a BootCamp partition with a Windows install or are not able to start the Windows install using a virtual machine, the link in the line above mentions a way to do the process with just terminal commands in the Manual Pairing section, but you still need a way to find out the mouse's Bluetooth ID.
    Hope this helps!

  • Canon LBP6300dn no longer works after mavericks update?

    Hi
I have a Canon LBP6300dn laser printer that i was happily using over a network until i update to Mavericks last night.
Ive tried various mac drivers for the printer and have been able to get it to physically print but its illegible info - just random lines/marks
of course Canon do not appear to have a specific driver for mavericks!
    Can anybody help?
    thanks

I have now managed to get the Canon LBP6300dn printer working on my network (i.e. I did not use USB at all).
In case it helps others, here are the steps I performed.
    Infrastructure:
My printer is connected by LAN cable to my Airport Extreme.
The Airport Extreme has a DHCP reservation defined for the printer (e.g. fixed address of 10.1.2.3).
I need A4 as the default paper size, so I installed the UK version of the driver (Mac_CAPT_V365_uk_EN.dmg). I do not know if the locale makes any difference.
I orginally set-up the printer  when I used Mountain Lion.
My Mavericks installation on my laptop was clean (i.e. the hard disk was reformatted first)
    Set-up:
The printer was switched on and installation was done on my Mavericks laptop over WiFi.
Double-click the .DMG file and follow the instructions.
Open System Preferences | Printers & Scanners.
Click + to add a new printer, the Add dialog should open.
For me, nothing appeared under the Default tab.
    Click the IP tab.
In the Address: field: I entered the fixed IP address of my printer (e.g. 10.1.2.3).
The IP address should be automatically validated.
The Protocol: Field was set to Line Printer Daemon - LPD.
After a few seconds, the Use: field should display “Generic PostScript Printer”
Click on the Use: field’s menu to display available options and then pick “Select Software …”
In the Printer Software dialog, select “Canon LBP6300 CAPT (UK)” . Or the equivalent for your locale. Click Ok. Note: I could not get the “Canon LBP6300n CAPT (UK)” to work.
For me, an error “Unable to verify the printer on your network appeared”, but I clicked Continue.
I left the Paper Source Options set to none. (I do not have the 500 cassette.)
I clicked Ok to finish the adding of the printer
After this the printer was finally working for me, including duplex printing.
Anyway, I hope this might help others that are struggling with Mavericks and the Canon LBP6300dn printer.
