Canon lide 210 not recognized in yosemite. Latest driver downloaded
Since upgrading from Mavericks to Yosemite (10.10.1) I have lost capability with my Canon Lide 210 scanner and Jam XT bluetooth wireless speaker.
I have downloaded and installed the latest Canon driver to no avail. Any ideas? Both were working great before I upgraded to Yosemite.
The scanner driver file is installed in HD > Library > Image Capture > TWAIN Data Sources. Here you will see the LiDE210.ds file. This package file contains information used by the scanner and removing the scanner entry in Print & Scan does not remove this file. You could trash this file (make sure you remove the entry from Print & Scan first) and then run the v17.7.1 scanner driver installer again.
If MP Navigator still fails it could actually be this application rather than the scanner driver at fault. Note that Image Capture uses a different driver called an ICA. So to test that the TWAIN scanner driver is okay you would need a TWAIN compatible application. And one such application is VueScan. Install this and see if you can scan without any error. If you can then it indicates the issue is with MP Navigator. If VueScan also fails then you do have a scanner driver issue.

Problems with using Canon LiDE 210 and OSX 10.7.4
I am getting nowhere with installing the Canon LiDE 210 scanner software on my 2010 MBP. All I get when I try to scan is "insufficient memory". I can scan using Image Capture and with the trial VueScan software so the problem looks as if it is something to do with the Canon software or the way that it installs on the MBP. Has anyone else had a similar problem or can anyone suggest a fix? Many thanks
Hellooo, I realise this thread is a year old and yet I'm having some real difficulty, hopefully this will fall on someones ears...
Firstly I have a mac mini bought recently and running on Mountain Lion 10.8.3 I tried downloading what is apparently the most up to date drvier and mp navigator for use with the CanoScan LiDE 210 meaning, that both the driver and mp navigator are compatible with Mountain Lion. Here is the following link I used that was forwarded to me by Canon:

I install both of the downloads, plug in the scanner, and nothing... no noise, no beep nothing to say that it is on. I try and open the scanner through system preferences-printer/scanner-canoscan icon yet I am then presented with the message; "failed to open a session on this device"
Strange, I call canon back and they do not know what else to suggest apart from all the usual trouble shooting, the type that is very patronising and annoying... did you click the icon and press scan, did you click the install button after downloading the software... the sort of thing that might otherwise result in the beating, of ones own face with the phone
At the end of this call, and after forwarding me a couple more useless links to unworkable downloads they say that it must be the product, and that I should contact the seller for a replacement.
So I do, I contact Amazon, I get my replacement and voila, exactly the same problem.
I even try getting it going using my mbp which is on snow leopard, which means I can use the installation disc that it is packed with it, it makes a noise, it sounds like its turning on but then when I click "open scanner" ... nothing, no option to scan, no acknowledgement of the device other than the icon itself in system preferences.
Does anyone have any experience of this issue, does anyone know how I might resolve it?

My MacBook Pro is not recognizing my external hard drive. The hard drive is listed in disk utilities but an icon does not pop up and I cannot access the data. Is there any way to resolve this?
WE know Disk Warrior is more reliable, hence more useful, and should be in any disk mechanics toolchest.
For the record, I don't know anything of the kind. I have yet to see evidence that Disk Warrior is useful at all.
What I do know is that you seem to take every opportunity you get to promote it in these forums. Do you work for Alsoft?
Let me be a little more explicit. My opinion is that Disk Warrior is a waste of money if one has backups. If a journaled HFS directory is so badly corrupted that it can't be repaired by Disk Utility, then the volume should be reformatted and restored from backup, which has the same effect as running DW, but is probably faster and doesn't cost $99. -
My Apple id and password is not recognized when I tried to download an app. I reset my password but it still did not recognize it. This website recognized it.
Did you go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and sign out and sign back in?

I've read some older threads regarding this discussion but they must be closed since I couldn't add a comment. So, I thought it would be best to open a new one. I apologize if I'm treading old ground.
Here's my setup: MacBook Pro (mid-2010), Mac OS X v10.6.8 Snow Leopard, Safari 5.1.2. I needed a basic scanner, did research and everything looked good, so I bought a Canon CanoScan LiDE 210 scanner. All I need is to be able to scan documents (minimal graphics) to the MacBook, preferably in PDF format. Not really interested in scanning photos etc.
I just want to be careful and would like some clarification, please. So regarding installation, I've gotten three "recommendations/methods":
1) With the purchased Scanner, included was installation CD with instructions.
2) Emailed Canon Support and was told to download the latest driver and the MP Navigator EX from their website instead.
3) Read and referenced Apple Support Article HT3669 , which has been updated recently - February 15th, 2012.
Now, step #3 is my preferred selection, since it comes from Apple Software Update and the article lists the LiDE 210 as supported.
I also noticed on the other thread (that I could not comment on), that PAHU commented:
I have the LiDE200 and it works fine with Image Capture and Preview. The driver was included with one of the Canon updates hosted via Apple and part of Software Update. This sounds exactly what I want to do for installation and use (Image Capture and Preview).

The way it appears, step #3 seems like minimal hassle, straightforward, and the best way to go. Also, do I really need this "MP Navigator EX", if I have Image Capture and Preview? I would prefer to avoid as much third party SW as possible.

A PDF created by Image Capture is not a text searchable PDF. It is basically an image file (it is usually a TIFF with a Postscript header). So if you wanted to locate some line of text on the page, you would not have the ability to do so. In contrast, a PDF created in Acrobat will be text searchable, as the software will do character recognition (aka OCR). So if you wanted the means to locate content within each document, then you should OCR the scanned document. An Acrobat Pro will do this on the fly as you scan the document. Using Image Capture, you would have to scan the document first and then use some OCR package to convert the scanned image.
For the record, MP Navigator has an OCR function, but it is not as accurate as Acrobat Pro's version.

The driver won't disappear if you upgrade. The ICA driver package available from Apple is for 10.6 and 10.7. But it is sometimes advisable to remove the printers and scanner in 10.6 before you upgrade, or at least ensure you have the latest versions available before the 10.7 update. Given that you have just done this installation then you have the latest drivers so there should be no issue with the scanner after the Lion update. -
Canon LiDE 210 insufficient memory with Lion
My LiDE 210 scanner which has worked in the past using OSX10.7 but it now says "insufficient memory" each time I launch MP Navigator EX 4.0.
Canon advised me to open MP Navigator and select 'View and Use', where it says 'Specify the scanned location', select a different scanner location to see if this resolves the issue. I am unable to do this as I get the "insufficient memory" message immediately I double click on the Canon software. If this did not resolve the issue, they recommended uninstalling and re-installing the latest drivers, which I have done but with no solution to the problem. I haved repaired permissions, checked printers in the library and there does not seem to be anything missing or conflicting. I cannot find any reference to TWAIN in the Library and finally the basic scanner functions are available using Image Capture.

Canon Lide 80 - not working after 10.5.8 update
Hi,
Wondered if anyone has a workaround for getting a Canon Lide 80 scanner to scan using Photoshop Elements 6, it worked in OS X v10.5.7 previously as I copied the latest ScanGear CS 7.2X plugin into the Photoshop Elements plug-in folder then ran Elements through Rosetta and it scanned with no problems however this now does not work.
The plug-in is still selectable when using PSE6 but I get the following message "The necessary file could be missing or damaged, or the settings are incorrect. Reinstall the scanner driver. Scanner driver will be closed"
I have made sure I have the latest plug-in but to no avail. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

AndrewCan't speak specifically to Photoshop Elements, but my LiDE 80 works fine on 10.5.8 using both Canon's CanoScan application as well as VueScan, both of which use the same plug-in architecture as Photoshop.
This is on a MacBook (Santa Rosa) after updating to Leopard 10.5.8 (it was previously running 10.5.4, where the scanner also worked).
I am using the latest ScanGear driver and CanoScan Toolbox installs from Canon's US support website, where the
filenames are LiDE80_7252MXEN.dmg and CSTb4130MXE.dmg respectively (the Canon site shows an update date of July '09, but in actuality none of the files have been updated since 2005).
I didn't do anything special -- the scanner continued working normally after the system update.
What I'd try is remove the driver (just to be safe, download & use Canon's driver removal utility from the same download page), search & nuke any files called Scangear on the machine (I'd also remove CanoScan if you have it installed), then reinstall from scratch. -
Canon Vixia HF11 not recognized
I have a MacBook Pro 17, with Final Cut Express 4 (updated to latest version: 4.0.1); when I connect my Canon Vixia HF11 (with USB cable), the camcorder is not recognized.

iMovie '09 recognizes the camera, shows thumbnails of the 2 clips, and acts like it wants to import them. After 3 hours, I get a message that there was an error. I've tried this several ways with the same result, and gave up.
I bought FCE 4.0.1, and get NO invitation to import. The camcorder shows up on the desktop as 2 icons, one a USB drive, the other as a generic "white" drive. When I go to IMPORT, only the USB drive shows up. Within it is a AVCHD folder with 3 folders:
1.AVCHDTN (with 2 files-THUMB.TDT, and THUMB.TID...both grayed out.)
2.BDMV( backup, Clipinf,Playlist, Stream folders)...looks like maybe demos
3.CANON (4 files: 000000.MPL, CINDX.TMP, INDEX.BDM, THUMB.TID...all grayed out.)
Everything is NOT available. The camera is in video playback mode. power adapter in use. At this very minute I'm reconfirming that iMovie recognizes it, whereas FCE does NOT have the HF11 on it's supported camera list. But, I'm most perplexed that ANYONE on this thread got any clips imported at all! How is this possible? Is there just no real Apple support for this camera yet? I have an opportunity to return this camera, but it must be soon, and I need this play OUT of the camera. Is there a PC solution for this problem? I'm in a crunch! I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Dual Display on Mac Pro (2011) not recognized after Yosemite Upgrade
I have Mini Displayport-to-HDMI adapter that used to work fine until I upgraded to Yosemite (now running 10.10.2). Now during boot up the main display flashes looking like it 'notices' the 1080 display resolution then quickly ignores it and the HDMI output is not recognized in the System Preferences Display window. This Mac Pro has two Mini Displayport ports and both behave similarly.
The main display powered through the DVI port works fine
Any suggestions to resolve ?Not sure how critical your dual display is to your work life, but if it is you may want to consider using a Matrox product. Google it and search their site for "DualHead2Go" adaptor. I've used their stuff since 2008 when I bought my MacBook Pro. Their software is always kept up to date with the latest Mac OS. I have been VERY pleased over the years. Food for thought if you can't get your current system to function properly.

and I don't want to delete it as instructed without someone who knows telling me it won't hurt my newly installed and thus far working well OS 10.10.1, with iMovie 7.1.4 on my iMac 24 inch, Early 2008, 2.8 GHz Intel Dore 2 Duo, 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. It worked with Leopard, and I don't recall having to use the above mentioned support page.Contact Apple. I believe you have a hardware issue there if it's not showing up in your System profiler.

Canon Lide Scanner not shown as import option Elements 10
I'm using windows 7 and a trial version of Elements 10. On my version of Elements 9 my Canon Lide 100 shows as an import option but it is not available in Elements 10. In the Elements 10 organizer I see options in preferences for selecting a scanner but nothing in the editor about scanners.
I don't remember having to do anything special in Elements 7 or 9 to get the scanner to work.
I was going to purchase the upgrade to 10 tomorrow, but I'm not sure I want to if the scanner doesn't work.

Canon 8400F scanner not recognized by 10.5.7 on G5 Powermac
I've tried using Canon's driver uninstaller and re-installed the latest driver several times. However, when I try to import into Photoshop Elements 6, the latest version of Gimp, or the latest version of Canoscan toolbox, I get the following message:
The necessary file could be missing or damaged, or some settings are incorrect.
Reinstall the scanner driver.
Scanner driver will be closed.
After I click the 'ok' button, I get:
Could not complete the import command because there is no scanner installed.

The TWAIN Data Sources folder should contain your CanoScan 5000F.ds file, not ScanGear. The ds file will be automatically installed into this location by the driver installer.
I dragged it into the folder just to see what would happen, and the sub folder is black in colour with the letters exec, which is like a windows.exe file.
This is not the correct procedure so it is not surprising that it didn't work correctly.

Yes. ScanGear is the preview window that you see after you select to scan using the Canon scanner. So you do need some other scanning application to initiate the image capture.
After spending so much time looking on forums, I am somewhat surprised to see so many Mac users who have problems with Canon equipment. I think they are very much lacking in support for older equipment, unlike HP who supplied all the necessary info to install my old printer, and it all worked perfectly first time.
Having used Canon for a number of years, I would argue this point. A lot of the time the problem is caused the person using the Mac, not the device. Also, there are plenty of people in this forum with HP equipment that are having problems, so I think you will find that none of the vendors do it perfectly, including Apple, otherwise we wouldn't have these forums...
I read on one forum that ScanGear will not work with OSX.
I can assure you it works. My previous CS3200F worked fine for years until I dropped it and now my 5600F is working nicely with Leopard.

Epson Action Laser Printer not recognized by Yosemite
I upgraded to Yosemite and now my ancient Epson Action Laser 1000 series printer is not recognized. I have reset the printing system, deleted the printer, looked for 3rd party software, etc. Does anyone have a solution to my issue? Other than replacing my printer!!! Thanks.

You know, i have never understood this, if you are so adversed to helping people, then why do you even logon or post in a help forum at all? it has always perplexed me when people come to help forums and make a thread for help, and the help that person gets is, 'search for another thread that has the answer'. This happens enough times since people that log on to help forums like yourself, just hate helping people, and eventually, a search ends up like this.
Search 'USB printer not recognized'
Returns 20 threads, all with 1 or 2 replies that say something along the lines of, 'this is solved in another thread, search it up'.
So now everyone gets to go through 20 threads just to get nowhere. Then finally, after spending 2.5 hours searching through 20 useless threads, since nobody could post any help in them, you find the thread with a solution, and its 71 pages long and has 30 different try this, no try that, that didn't work says one person, oh, it did says another, instead of just posting the link to the wiki in each of the subsequent threads...but that is just asking too much out of anyone, after all, they are too busy looking at threads in a help forum that they know the solution to, and making posts for the poster to look for a solution, instead of actually helping...
I guess it just bugs me. If i had found the answer, i wouldn't have posted about it now would I?

Acrobat 8 for MAC, Scanner CanonScan Lide 30 Not Recognized

I have a problem. I need to create pdf from the scanner but the scanner is not recognized by Adobe Acrobat 8. Does anyone have the same problem? Did you fix that problem? How? any help would be great,

PS: I'm using Leopard V. 10.5.5Unless your Scanner uses a Twain Driver recognized by, The Mac Computer system and therefore Acrobat. It will not work in Acrobat.
A work around is to use the SANE/Twain Driver from the S.A.N.E. Project. Google for SANE. It has to do with Scanners. Then locate when you get to site the link for Macintosh and click that.
choose the components needed for your system Unless you are developer stay away from the SDK's. Install all the components , restart computer, then open Acrobat and and go to section on on scanner and choose SANE device. your now set up to go through procedure to scan -
Time machine was not working after yosemite upgrade on new and old MacBooks in my house. I bought a new time machine and migrated time machine files to new time capsule. I changed the names of the older sparse bundles to the default values. Yosemite still does not recognize them.
I presume the bought a time machine means a time capsule.
How did you migrate the Time Machine files?
From where? A Time Capsule or external drive?
It is difficult to get TM working with Yosemite.. since it doesn't work after the upgrade on the old TM backup.. it will not work on the migrated files either.
You simply start a new backup and store the old backups for a few months until you are ready to dump them.

However it is just unlikely to work.. TM in Yosemite is very different. Broken even.
I also strongly recommend people to use Carbon Copy Cloner or some other 3rd party backup until Apple get the bugs fixed. And after several months.. they are still rampant.

When using XSL Include, is it possible to include HTML files as well? I would like to have a common footer on all of my xsl stylesheets and was hoping xsl-include would do the trick. It will bring in the text, but it strips all the <> tags and leaves
