Canon Lide30 scanner will not work with PS in CS3

Hi all,
I have just re-installed CS3 on my G5 after a clean erase and install of the OSX Leopard. All software has been updated. All went smoothly except that I simply cannot get the Canon Lide 30 scanner to work again in PS. I keep getting the same message saying......'The necessary file could be missing or damaged, or the settings are incorrect. Reinstall the scanner driver. Scanner driver will be closed'.......
This is the latest driver downloaded from canon? Its been reinstalled a few times, mac restarted etc?
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get it working again?

I'm not sure what was going on? Perhaps the file was being corrupted on download or maybe it was not fully Leopard friendly even though the driver I downloaded is supposed to be up to date. Anyway, I went to the original install disc which has not been used in about three years. All works fine now! I'll definitely look into VueScan as well.
I just decided to do a fresh install of everything from the ground up as my G5 has just had its CPU replaced under warranty and it seemed like a good time to do it. Surprisingly it was no where near as bad as I thought it would be after X2 back ups were made on different external drives. The ONLY problem I have had all day is the scanner.

You will have no alternative but to wait for Epson to update their drivers to be compatible w/Mavarick. Why not call them (tech support) or send them an email?

Canon pixma IP4000R will not work with Snow Leopard

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, my Canon IP4000r printer will not work. I have tried both the Canon Printer Drivers 2.3 (my printer is listed) from Apple and the latest printer driver from Canon. There are multiple problems ... the first thing I noticed is that not all of the printer options are available on the print dialog. When I tried to print, I got "fatal::internal error -9660."
It looks like both drivers I've tried so far are CUPS (which is probably why all of the printer options are not supported).
Anyone have any ideas? Other than buying a new printer ...

The driver version provided by Canon is v10.26.x while the update provided by Apple will increase the version to 10.30.3.0. Yes they are both CUPS by name as they are both made by Canon. But this is not your issue. If you believe that a particular option is not available then please reply with what that is.

Canon MP830 scanner does not work with Leopard

Hi,
I have a Canon MP830. The printer function works fine but the scanner function does not work anymore since I've installed Leopard. From time to time it seems to work, randomly, ... but most of the time, if I use the MP830 navigator software and try to scan in a batch (from the tray), I get an error message saying "Het scannen is mislukt" (dutch for: Scanning process failed).
I hope that Apple and/or Canon are working on updated drivers because this is quite annoying... Plenty of fancy features in Leopard, but the easy, all-day features don't work
This is maybe not the right place to mention this comment but:
After I've installed iCal, it crashes everytime (randomly) when i click on the details of a calendar item... and generates an error message report... I can imagine I am not the only one who has this problem. Never had this before when using Tiger.

Actually, Canon has been providing various updates throughout the month of November. Go to www.canonusa.com, place your cursor over "downloads" and when a drop down menu is presented, click on "consumer." You might have to be patient, the site has been slow lately. Anyway, click on the pull downs in the middle of the page to select your printer. When the next page is presented, select MAC OS X from the pull down menu and you'll see the drivers and updated applications.
Over the weekend, I purchased an MP610. After performing the installation of files from the CD, I then downloaded and installed drivers and applications and the printer seems to work just fine, to include scanning, copying, etc.

Photoshop by itself cannot process raw image data. That is why the Camera Raw plug-in was developed. You could try the DNG converter and convert your images to the DNG format and then the Camera Raw that you have would be able to open them. I can't recommend Lightroom because you are using Vista, and Lightroom 5 cannot be used with that operating system. It may be time for you to get a new computer and upgrade your software.

I was hoping for a good bubble bursting, but I tried that HP "update" as soon as my printer stopped responding. I really really wanted my bubble popped.
One needs the Apple supplied driver for this work. It will not work because the driver to basically function on the updated Mavericks is not supplied by Apple Updates, so the HP driver that stops printing an extra page is rendered useless. I spent, wasted two days going back and forth between Support threads, HP chat and on the phone, through all the Mac channels where I was told that the 2011 HP was antique. HP said Apple had the drivers. So, they pointed a finger at one another with this unlucky customer caught in the crossfire. HP said Mac did it and Mac said HP did it. BOOM ! goes the guy in between who spent a good bit of money to have good equipment. What is wrong with expecting a printer to last beyond 3 years, or for a back up drive to last more than 3 years?
I do appreciate the attempt to help though. It was here in Discussions where I was guided to the gimp driver, drivers which in the past always worked when needed but in this case something wicked about Mavericks prevents it from working. No matter how many times HP says it works on their site all you have to do is try and then speak with customer service to find out that in a parellel universe this may logically hold. It does not hold here. If it were the case that by working in Lion it would work in Mavericks then there must be something wrong with me. But why, APPLE, is it that one day it works, do the update and then it does not when Lion was the previous OS? I did Everything, every single thing recommended by people who had good ideas and wanted to help but all too often the facts tell us nothing of the world. Facts are tools used to decieve, the world is where it works or does not work and in this case Mavericks has cost me close to $300. Probably not a big deal in some cases, but money is money. When it is gone it is gone.
I followed the complete uninstall, going into library and removing all HP, then restarting and lo and behold HP driver for 4500 not only was not present but along the way my 500gig back up drive died, as in dead, nothing.
Of course I will not buy another HP product. If you go to the list of drivers Mac says it carries the HP Officejet 4500 wireless may be present but is not carried by Apple. I have tried Apple update over and over. What I have done is wasted my time and money. In one fell update I lost a printer and a back up drive. No storms, no loss of electricity, no boogie men lurking, no malware, no gremlins, nothing but an innocent customer updating when Apple said "update". Sure it is serendipity that both my printer and back up drive died on the same day at the same time following the Mavericks update. Who am I but a loyal customer? I must be stupid because my equipment stopped responding after the update. It is not new that there are bugs and glitches following updates. I was a beta tester for OS X, it wiped my computer clean, but I understood, it was beta.
A friend told me the same about planned obsolescence in that since printers are cheap and ink is expensive they don't really care about customer satisfaction. Three years old is antique, out of date. We should and must all be angered by this hatred for the customer shown by manufacturers across the board. Blaming the customer is ridiculous and absurd but not unheard of, in fact it has become the rule of thumb from the other side. The customer is innocent. All we want is to buy premium equipment and to have it behave in a manner befitting the cost. I am an Apple user since 1994. I designed a restaurant on a 333 mhz black and white Mac. You know, the big floppy disc one. I am not new to Apple. Fiercely loyal for 20 years. This is the most angered I have been by the flippant attitude shown to us all.

I thought that by coming back later there would be updates and new links that would help. But no. Maybe one day. HP lost a customer, it means nothing to any of the manufacturers when a customer is ridiculed by their cynical attitude towards the customer. Maybe there will be someone else to come along here that has had similar experiences and found a way to fix. Used to be a gimp driver could do the trick. Used to be a way. And as in the past when I was mad about an Apple failure a member sent a fix and I printed the fix for others to use in return. We help one another in the best of ways. Please spread the word, maybe there will be a fix to show up here sometime. I kissed my iOmega back up drive and the 500 gigs of writings, photos, backups and music goodbye, gone forever, poof! But the HP printer is still here on my desk. I don't want to give up hope.

Hi,
I suggest uninstalling the printer drivers from your HP printer. The go to System Preferences> Printer & Fax and in the printer list box go ahead and reset the printing system. Do that by right clicking over the printer list box ad the option should appear. After that close system preferences and reinstall your printer drivers from the HP CD. After installation check if your printer works as expected, if it does, stop here and ignore the rest of the message.
If you don't have the install CDs for the printer or the previous step does not work; connect your printer to your Mac via USB and then again go to system preferences. Open the Print & Fax menu and in the printer list box you should see a "+" sign. Click on it, and a new window should appear with a list of printers that are available to you. If that's the case, go ahead click your printer name and wait for the computer to look in the Apple servers for the drivers. When searching is finished click the "install" button. This process will open software update and install the neccesary drivers.
After that, you should be able to scan documents with the Preview App.

I would start with the simple, have you tried just restarting the computer? Have you made sure your computer has all of it's windows updates? How can I tell if my computer is up to date? Most products do have updated software available for Windows 10, did you install the correct driver?HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver I've also seen a few posts that say the Windows 8.1 driver will work for Windows 10 as well, so you could try that too.  HP provides a free tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. I recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor, if it doesn't fix it automatically let me know what errors or messages you receive.  Do you know if you are able to scan using Paint? I have a Macbook and iPhone and like to back up to iCloud. However, my work computer runs Outlook 2003, which I know will not work with the iCloud. The company has no plans to update anytime soon. Since the calendar and contact list on my office computer are my primay ones, I hard sync through iTunes. The problem is that any data synced from Outlook 2003 to the iPhone from iTunes does NOT later backup to iCloud. Is there a solution?

You may need many other updates to retain compatibility with Lion. I suggest you reinstall Snow Leopard. Unfortunately, you will need to erase the drive first. Be sure to backup your data if you haven't done so already.
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
     1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
         with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
         After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see
         a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
     2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
         button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
         After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
         size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
         partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
         and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
         (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
     3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
         with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
     4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
         Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
         you will be running a fresh install of OS X. You can now begin the update process
         by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
         installation current.

Ive got the same problem, just got my iphone unlocked, and they told me to sync it to itunes to get it permently unlocked, well everytime i plug my iphone in it says; it wont work as it needs up dating to 10.6.3, which i have already updated, but still doesnt work, so how can i get my phone unlocked?
