Canon Mark 3 Raw Import
With my new MacBook Air I can't see the Raw files from my Canon Mark 3 camera. Don't see it also in my Photoshop Bridge. I have all the new updates. Does anyone have a solution?
Go into preferences, select the Presets tab. Hit "Reset all Default Develop Settings". You probably by accident set a default Develop for the 7D. Also check that you don't have a preset selected in the import dialog.

I just got a Canon 7D and I shoot in RAW, which with this model is CR2. I can see the pics fine in finder and I can open them in Photoshop CS4, but not in iPhoto. I use iPhoto to organize all of my pictures and would love to keep it that way.
Is iPhoto 8.1 incapable of recognizing the CR2 format?
GraciasHi TD,
sorry for late reply - I was out a couple of days. My latest version of Digital Camera Raw update is 2.6. Even on the apple downloads page (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/applicationupdates/indexabc3.html) I don't see a 2.7 version nor would auto-update propose a missing update. Am I missing something here?
Yes, I am importing directly from my camera using USB cable via USB hub. -
I have recently upgraded to Vista and Lightroom 3.1 and now I am having a problem importing RAW files directly from my canon 400D. I have set the auto importer to recognize a memory card, and lightroom starts when I activate my camera, but for some reason it tells me that there are no files to import. This is the same if I manually select my 400D's CF folder. I can see the files in windows explorer, but Lightroom will no longer recognize them.
Adobe Photo downloader lightroom 3.0 is running and I have no problem importing Photos once I have copied the files from the CF card to a hard drive manually, but it really is a pain not to be able so select individual RAW files or batches through lightroom. I do not have a memory card reader!
All of these processes were functioning with Lightroom 2.0.
Anyone know of a fix or a workaround?Hahaha, yeah, you are right, I was writing the last post in a rush before leaving the house......I do indeed mean 1.2 an 1.3...and as stated I do not have a card reader, and to be honest I really dont think I should have to purchase another piece of hardware (no matter how cheap) to have this software run correctly.
Thank you for your reply, but I am still looking for a fix or workaround to download directly from the camera. This is something that I have had work before. Are Adobe aware of this, is there any fix planned? -
Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my new Canon Mark III 5D Camera. How can I get my files open to view and edit? I am using LR3, Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3. Do I need to upgrade these programs or is there another way to get these programs to recognize my files?
When I try opening the raw images in Lightroom, the thumbnails say "Preview unavailable for this file" ... when I click "import" an error message pops up that says "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
When I try opening the raw images in Photoshop, an error message pops up saying "could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
When I try opening the raw images in Bridge, it just shows an icon with the file name and CR2.
Please help!!!Unless I missed an announcement, today, LR6 isn't available, yet, right? Only Adobe employees and beta testers would know what LR6 does differently at this point and they're all sworn to secrecy.
LR5 is available as a standalone version.
PS-CS6 is available as a serial-number-licensed version.
PS-CC + LR5 are also available as a Photography Plan subscription for $10/month with a minimum OS versions of OSX 10.7 (and probably 10.8, soon) and Windows 7.
Bridge is part of PS, not a separate program.
LR5 standalone and LR+PS-CC plan are both available on this page: http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software.html
PS-CS6 can be found on this page: Creative Suite 6 which can be found by searching www.adobe.com for Photoshop CS6 and clicking the Buy link in the on-the-fly search results.
As with any new Adobe software, it might be wise to run it in trial mode for a few days/weeks to see if it works well with your computer, before purchasing and finding out you might need a new computer, first. -
Is there a PS setting where it can read my Canon Mark 3 5D's monochrome setting so that the files will also appear in the same monochrome structure (instead of appearing in colour as it is now when i open in PS, not even monochrome)? Or do I have to change from RAW each time to Monochrome within PS (even if I have set up for Monochrome in my 5D)?
1. Basically I am taking photos with a monochrome setting with my 5D and the screen shows monochrome.
2. when i import this onto my computer and open with PS, it opens in colour.
3. when I change this to Monochrome in PS. (It cannot read my monochrome setting with my preference of the greyscale mix when I viewed it on my 5D)
4. my question is: is there a way so that PS can read the monochrome setting from my 5D and display the same monochrome setting as my 5D instead of a different one from PS.
Lilyyou need camera raw 6.7 or better.
i don't know what version of ps you have so i can't say if it can be updated to use that, but update anyway.

Since Aperture 1 and recently Aperture 2.1, I never had problems to import raw images to Aperture.
It work like a charm. I did the last 2 Aperture upgrades recommended by Apple. Now I am back from a trip, tried to import my raw images to the G5, and it would not work at all. On my old laptop, however, on which I did not run the upgrades, the raw import worked perfectly.
Where can I find the previous releases on which the raw import work well, and how could I un-install the current, go back to the ones that work, without corrupting all the images that I already have in Aperture.
Thanks in advance for any help.hu38 wrote: I have a Canon 5D Mark II and have just upgraded to standard CS4. When I click on the file it states 'could not complete your request as it is not the correct type of document' - can you please advise how I can view these files?
The Canon 5D Mark II requires at least version 5.2 of the ACR plug-in. See http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407111.html
The CS4 default installed ACR 5.0 so you have to upgrade the plug-in.

Bridge won't open raw files from my canon mark iii
Bridge won't open raw files from my canon mark iii? Are you kidding adobe? This camera has been out for over six months. Why isn't it loaded into the program? This camera is sooo main stream!
What Mark III?
Are you referring to the Canon EOS 1D Mark III or the Canon EOS 5D Mark III?
And what version of Adobe software are you referring to?
There definitely is support for the EOS 1D Mark III in in versions of the Creative Suite dating back several versions. Support for the EOS 5D Mark III was made available in an update to Creative Suite 6 and Lightroom 4.x.

Recently upgraded to a Canon Mark 3 and now having issues with my RAW files in Bridge and Photoshop. I have operating with CS4. Photoshop produces and error " Could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file"
Assuming you mean 5D Mark III, Photoshop CS4 cannot directly open raw files from your camera.
Generally speaking, Adobe stopped updating older versions to be able to read raw files from newer cameras when they released a new major version of Photoshop. Photoshop CS4 is no longer receiving Camera Raw updates.
You can double check this yourself:
First you need to determine whether Adobe has released support for your new camera in your version of Photoshop. To do that, look at these two pages. You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop can run that version of Camera Raw.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
If you find your camera is supported by your version of Photoshop, you need to download the latest update for Camera Raw. There's more information on how to do that here:
Keeping Photoshop Up-To-Date
If your version of Photoshop cannot support your camera, you can download and install the latest version of the free Adobe DNG Converter, which can take your raw files as input and put out DNG format files, which your version of Photoshop can open.
Photoshop Help | Digital Negative (DNG)
The DNG converter DOES work, but if you want maximal quality from your raw files (not to mention the convenience and ease of use of directly opening your raw files) you'll want the latest version of Photoshop. Adobe has made substantial improvements in raw conversion quality in recent years.

Why aren't my .CR2 RAW files opening in Elements 9.0 from my Canon Mark III 5D?
I am super confused as to why my old Canon Rebel CR2 (RAW) files have always opened in Elements 9.0, but now my new camera (Canon Mark III 5D)'s RAW files are not opening? Thanks!
You have two alternatives:
(1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.3
Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.3
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

Can't import Canon G12 RAW images into iPhoto 6.0.6
unable to import Canon G12 RAW images into iPhoto 6.0.6 (Mac OS-X (10.5.8) - any ideas?
You'll need to install the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.5 - Search the Support/Downloads site for that.
It still may not work. Iphoto 6 is an elderly piece of software now and predates your camera by several years. If it doesn't work you'll need to update to iPhoto 09 or later.

Import screen cannot enlarge preview thumbnail from Canon G15 raw CR2 file
Lightroom 4.3 import screen does not seem to be able to enlarge for better viewing the preview thumbnail from a Canon G15 raw CR2 file?
HI,
I do not know the answer, but I would expect, that Lr only displays the embeded jpeg preview of your raw files. And I think, that the previews are small. You can use exiftool , exiftoolgui to see what's the dimension of your previews. -
why my canon 7d & 70D imported photo all not in RAW format? All in JPEG? Please settle it for me. thank you
You should take a look at iView Media or its Pro version. It is a cross-platform (Mac and Windows) program that is free of some of the stultifying limitations of iPhoto. For example, you can create multiple catalogs and you can easily catalog media (not just photos) that are not on the current disk, like media stored on CDs. It has very flexible cataloging features.
If they have not changed their licensing, you can buy one license to run both the Mac and PC version for one price. You can make one catalog and easily pass it between a Mac and PC with no translation or confusion. This would be much easier than trying to make it work with iPhoto and some other Windows program.
If you were to go the iView route, you would have to "sync" the data back to the photos so that they carry your keyword etc. data with them to other apps. I don't know if iPhoto embeds that info back to the photos, or if it stays in the iPhoto database only.
Photoshop Elements 4 is great on Windows, but the Mac version of Elements does not include the cataloging feature because it integrates with iPhoto. I'm not sure how smooth that all works. -
I have shot in camer raw on a canon mark 3 and the shots will not open in light room how dod I solve
How do I open shots from a Canon Mark 3 (RAW )?
Greig,
Please check the compatibility of the camera raw file with your camera by following the link below:
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
If updating the lightroom to the above version still has issues please try to uninstall and reinstall and update the Lightroom again to same version.

I cannot open raw files taken with my Canon Mark III in CS5
I am running CS5 on a newer computer (2012)... Every time I try to edit raw images taken with my Canon Mark III, a text box appears alerting me that my camera model is not supported by camera raw. I have tried various updates and software installations, but I have been unsuccessful in remedying the problem. Can anyone help or tell me what update/ software to download? I apologize if this thread already exists.
Canon Mark III do you mean Canon 1D Mark III or Canon 1DS Mark III or Canon 5D Mark III ???
In any case CS 5 ACR update 6.7 should handle all those cameras.
