Canon Mark III Compatibility
I'll be receiving the Canon 1D Mark III this coming Monday. Is LR 1.0 ready to process the Mark III files or will I need an upgrade? I've already installed Camera Raw 4.1 for Photoshop, does that have any impact on LR?
Thanks,
David
Not sure if anyone is still having this issue. I was, and searched forever. Finally found there is a Camera Raw 4.1 upgrade!! Yes - same file name, same version number, but a newer file (can see increased version number in file info). This is for the Mac, but there is one for Windows platform too.

And yes, it now works like a charm!

Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my new Canon Mark III 5D Camera. How can I get my files open to view and edit? I am using LR3, Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3. Do I need to upgrade these programs or is there another way to get these programs to recognize my files?
When I try opening the raw images in Lightroom, the thumbnails say "Preview unavailable for this file" ... when I click "import" an error message pops up that says "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
When I try opening the raw images in Photoshop, an error message pops up saying "could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
When I try opening the raw images in Bridge, it just shows an icon with the file name and CR2.
Please help!!!Unless I missed an announcement, today, LR6 isn't available, yet, right? Only Adobe employees and beta testers would know what LR6 does differently at this point and they're all sworn to secrecy.
LR5 is available as a standalone version.
PS-CS6 is available as a serial-number-licensed version.
PS-CC + LR5 are also available as a Photography Plan subscription for $10/month with a minimum OS versions of OSX 10.7 (and probably 10.8, soon) and Windows 7.
Bridge is part of PS, not a separate program.
LR5 standalone and LR+PS-CC plan are both available on this page: http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software.html
PS-CS6 can be found on this page: Creative Suite 6 which can be found by searching www.adobe.com for Photoshop CS6 and clicking the Buy link in the on-the-fly search results.
As with any new Adobe software, it might be wise to run it in trial mode for a few days/weeks to see if it works well with your computer, before purchasing and finding out you might need a new computer, first. -
I could not open my camera raw files from canon mark iii with my photoshop CS5. Tried to update Camera raw 6.7 but failed to install. Message said 'There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later'. How could I open Raw files ?
Try installing it manually from:

Bridge won't open raw files from my canon mark iii
Bridge won't open raw files from my canon mark iii? Are you kidding adobe? This camera has been out for over six months. Why isn't it loaded into the program? This camera is sooo main stream!
What Mark III?
Are you referring to the Canon EOS 1D Mark III or the Canon EOS 5D Mark III?
And what version of Adobe software are you referring to?
There definitely is support for the EOS 1D Mark III in in versions of the Creative Suite dating back several versions. Support for the EOS 5D Mark III was made available in an update to Creative Suite 6 and Lightroom 4.x.

Why aren't my .CR2 RAW files opening in Elements 9.0 from my Canon Mark III 5D?
I am super confused as to why my old Canon Rebel CR2 (RAW) files have always opened in Elements 9.0, but now my new camera (Canon Mark III 5D)'s RAW files are not opening? Thanks!
You have two alternatives:
(1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.3
Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.3
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

I cannot open raw files taken with my Canon Mark III in CS5
I am running CS5 on a newer computer (2012)... Every time I try to edit raw images taken with my Canon Mark III, a text box appears alerting me that my camera model is not supported by camera raw. I have tried various updates and software installations, but I have been unsuccessful in remedying the problem. Can anyone help or tell me what update/ software to download? I apologize if this thread already exists.
Canon Mark III do you mean Canon 1D Mark III or Canon 1DS Mark III or Canon 5D Mark III ???
In any case CS 5 ACR update 6.7 should handle all those cameras.

I just upgraded from LR 3.6 to 4, I can't get 4 to open canon mark iii raw files.? Also, does CS5 not read Canon 5D Mark iii files either? thanks
For Cs 5, please use the latest version of Camera raw. Cannon 5D Mark III is supported on Camera raw 6.7. Update the software or download install the camera raw 6.7 from the Adobe Website.
Lightroom 4, please wait for the next update of camera raw for the support of Cannon 5D Mark III. You may try using the beta version of Camera raw 7.1 available on Adobe labs. -
Aperture and Canon Mark III 1DS
What gives???...Unsupported image format* message for top of line Canon Mark III 1DS. and Nikon D3. Are you serious??? 3 months is time enough!!!
Thanks, NormI believe that RAW support for the Canon Mark III AND the Nikon D3 was just added in OS 10.5.2 release

Have you completed the lated update? Apple has support but you MUST do your part too and install it

I tried to open a Canon Mark III .cr2 file but received message that it was not the correct file.
I have the latest update. The camera is shipping. When will we get the update for this camera? Here we go again
This question gets asked over and over every time there's a new camera out.
Three to four orderly releases of Adobe Camera Raw per year have been promised. Beyond that, there's no guarantee that your camera will be supported in the very next one.
Pressure Canon to share the necessary information in its entirety and in a timely fashion.
Frankly, I never cease to be amazed at folks who buy a camera without checking whether it is supported by their preferred software or not. -
How can I easily import Canon Mark III video into iMovie or Final Cut Pro X? Do I need a converter? Thanks!
Just click the import button and point it at the camera card.

Noisy Exports when editing Native Canon Mark III DSLR
Hello,
I'm experiencing a lot of noise when exporting footage from Canon 5D Mark III IPB footage edited natively. With no effects applied, see how much noise is in the export on the right. original footage on the left. Also a tiny color shift, notice the wall on the right is a hair darker:
It's extremely bad when the image is playing (if I export a video Premiere adds so much noise to the original that I can't show the comparison. Perhaps I'll try to dig up some screen capture software).
There are no effects, I've tried a variety of output settings, always exporting maximum quality, maximum render depth, 20 Mbps, no scaling. I realize it is H264 footage but it should not degrade so much if I'm doing nothing to it.
Any feedback would be appreciated!
I'm working with a 2010 Mac Pro, Mountain Lion, Premiere CC 2014.
Thanks!
Gerry300Mps is still noisy. Remember, I'm not doing anything to the clip. Color grading compounds the problem. Here's the original vs. 300 Mbps
Here's the original clip from the camera vs. h264 exported out of DaVinci Resolve. Resolve is much cleaner than Premiere:
There is a lot of banding apparent in the Premiere exported clip when it is playing. -
Can't upload from Canon Mark III 5D CF card
I can't upload my photos from my Canon MarkIII 5D's CF card. The images are not able to be previewed and I can't seem to get them uploaded any other way either. HELP.
What am I doing wrong? The 5D Mark III was first supported in Lightroom 4.1.
The last version 4 ever released by Adobe was 4.4.1 so ensure you're running 4.4.1.

I need to import raw images from canon Mark iii
how can I do this in 4? Do I need additional software?
Just received our 5DS Mark III and as I understand it you need LR4.1 RC2 to read the RAW files, downloading it now to give it a try.

Best settings for Green Screen Video with Canon Mark iii
HI
What are the ideal camera settings for Green screen video.
Iso?
aperature?
Depth of field settings (best to have the green screen a bit out of focus?)
Any other camera settings would be helpful.
Thanks
RowbyHi Rowby!
Thanks so much for writing in about green screen shooting with the EOS 5D Mark III camera. Green screen shooting can come down to some crucial elements and how well you handle the camera and the lighting.
Arguably the most important thing is to have excellent lighting on the screen. Without this, the keys used to replace the green screen will not be accurate. So hopefully you have a good set of lights you will be using to actually light the physical screen.
With regards to ISO, shoot as low as possible. We suggest that you stick in the ISO 200-400 range where possible. With good, high key, proper lighting on the screen this shouldn't be an issue.
Aperture should actually be in the higher end of the range, you would want to stick to apertures around f/8 and above. Again, with adequate lighting this shouldn't be out of reach. This is so the green screen is more in focus, versus having it out of focus, which would not yield successful results.
Use an appropriate lens to the subject, for example if you are doing wide shots- use only the focal length needed for the shoot and no wider. For head shots, close ups- use a lens that will get you close.
Following these suggestions should give you some pretty good results. Remember, if this is your first attempt don't be discouraged, green screen shooting can be difficult to accomplish.
We wish you the best of luck in your endeavor!
