Canon MG5250 Printer and IMac

Why does my Mac loaded with software 10.7.5 offer only limited compatibility with my Canon mG5250.  I can print but I cannot change any settings e.g. print in draft

You might want to read this below and see if that offers a solution after following the steps outlined:

I have an iP4500, which I assume is quite similar to your model.
I had to reset the printing system to get things printing again. Only takes a few minutes and no problems at all since I did it a week ago or so.
Plug the printer into the USB port on the Express and restart the printer.
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock) and then open Print and Fax
Right-Click in the printer area on the left and select Reset Printing System
Then click the + (plus) button at the bottom of the printer list to install the printer again.

I am using a Canon 640 printer and my MPNavigator will not remain open.  It pops open then quickly closes.  I've used it for several years but it just started doing this.  What can I do to fix this problem?

I had a similar problem with a Canon MP800R under Mac OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks.
In my case, the MP Navigator app in the dock was linking to the wrong file.
It linked to Applications > MP Navigator 2.1.app > Contents > Resources > MP Navigator.app, but it should link to the "main" app, probably under Applications > MP Navigator 2.1.app.
After pulling the correct MP Navigator app file to the dock, I can start MP Navigator again by clicking on it in the dock. However, when clicking on it, a second MP Navigator icon will show up in the dock and stay there until the app is closed. By the way, the MP800R scanner also works (although officially not supported by Canon).

I have just been having problems with my Canon MP250 printer and decided to uninstall and re-install the printer and everytime I try to re-install the printer trough preferences and all I keep getting was a message saying "preparing to queue"...... I then decided to try and reload the Canon printer drivers and for some silly reason I deleted the existing Canon printer drive. Now I cannot load them from the CD provided with the printer or from downloads through the Apple store. If anyone out there could help me I would be greatly appreciated......

These Canon printer/scanner drivers from Apple - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL899 - should work. The MP250 is listed on the support page. Try downloading and installing them.
    Good luck,

  • HI, I have a Canon Pixma MG5250 printer and it doesn't seem to recognize iPhoto. All my photos are in iPhoto but I can't access them when the printer's 'photo print' box comes up.  Any suggestions? thanks

    Hi,
    I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.8
I now have a Canon Pixma Printer MG 5250 and it doesn't seem to recognize iPhoto, where all my folders of photos are in the computer.
All other aspects of the printer such as scanning and printing documents are working.  When I open the printer's
'photo print' box on my Mac, it cannot access iPhoto.
I would really appreciate any feedback and suggestions as to what to do.
    thanks.

If you want to print a photo that's in your library you should do so from iPhoto.  Select the photo, crop to the size you want to print and type Command+P to start the print process.  In the Print window select the paper size and print size, printer and then click on the Print button.

  • My wifi canon mg5250 printer has lost connectivity with my imac

Hi, i am using operating system 10.9.5.  I started to get an error 300 code for my printer so I removed the printer, restarted my router, computer & printer and then tried to add the printer but now the printer doesn't appear in preferences as being available to add.  I have checked for updates and also reset the printer settings with no joy.  Any ideas?

Here's a website with some possible suggestions for the 6C10 'valve cam sensor error' that you are getting.
    http://fix-your-printer.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-fix-error-6c10-on-canon-prin ters.html
For error 300 try removing and re-adding the printer in the printer system preferences.
Hope you're able to get back up and printing without too much trouble.

Thanks for getting back. I need help here
1 What do you mean by System Information? Is that System Preferences?
System Information is located in Applications > Utilities. It shows lots of information about your Mac, including information about the printer queues.
    dino1335 wrote:
2 When I go to System Preferences and click on the printer LBP6000/LBP6018 there is no information in that window about the URI if I click Open Print Queue there is no information other than the ID of the printer
In previous versions of OS X you did see this information via the Options & Supplies pane for the selected printer in Print & Scan. But with 10.8 this information was removed so know you need to use System Information > Printers to see information about an installed printer.
    dino1335 wrote:
3 If I print a document it just goes to print (it goes through the printer but no information is printed on the paper) there is no print cue so I don't know where to find the information on the URI or what I am supposed to copy
I believe that the document does not print because the print queue has not been created correctly. The CAPT driver requires a specific queue name and if the queue name is wrong then you will not be able to print.

FYI I also have a MacBook Pro (old) with Leopard which I also print to the same printer on and there isn't a problem with that just with this new MacPro which has Lion installed
Not surprised to read that. Mtn Lion has caused some issues for owners of CAPT printers, especially if they upgraded to 10.8 from 10.7 or 10.6.
Since you mention the ability to print on 10.5, I just want to check that you are physically moving the USB cable connected to the LBP from the 10.5 Mac to the 10.8 Mac, rather than sharing the printer from one Mac to the other. Because if you are sharing the printer from the 10.5 to the 10.8 Mac then this can be a cause of your current issue. The CAPT driver does not work when it is being shared to other Mac's.

  • Color Printing issue on Canon MP600 Printer and Mavericks upgrade

I realize that some people have been having problems scanning with the new upgrade on their printer, however, I am have trouble printing in color with the new Mavericks upgrade. Black and white is fine, but if there is any logo or color fonts, they are distorted. How do I go about fixing this?

I too was having the same issue where I was unable to print in color on my MP600 with Mavericks. It printed incorrect font, colors and distorted the size and placement on page .  I followed the above instructions to download the MP600R via the Canon UK website and it has solved my problem.
If anyone is as computer illiterate as I seem to be: After downloading the MP600R driver and installing it, I went to System Preferences>Printers and Scanners> delete the printer currently listed>add a new printer and select the MP600R from the list of software to choose.
I have yet to delete any software/driver files related to the old printer, so I was able to correct the problem simply by downloading the new driver, deleting the current printer, and adding a "new" printer selecting the MP600R.
So happy it is now resolved as this has been driving me crazy for months!

I have canon mp610 printer connected to my mac lion pc...It is always offline and i don't know how to fix this problem.

Does File > Work Offline has a check mark when that happens?
You can try to create a new Boolean pref with the name network.manage-offline-status and set the value to false.<br />
Right-click on the about:config page to open the right-click context menu and use "New > Boolean" to create a new Boolean pref.
    Name: network.manage-offline-status

  • Samsung multifunction printer and iMac

trying to set this rascal up again. used to be connected wirelessly, but the Airport/TimeCapsule failed and had to be replaced. It's a Samsung CLX 3175 FN.  I have gone into Preferences, then Print and Fax, then clicked on the Plus to add new printer, and nothing. The printer doesn't show up. I'm using Lion (which may be part of the problem). I got the printer itself onto the new network, but the iMac doesn't seem to "see" it, if that makes any sense. Tried to get it going with LP demon or IP but no luck.  Tried to use print with, then choosing the correct samsung printer model, but still nothing. Is there some kinda special trick to getting this thing printing wirelessly? I did, however, manage to find updated drives for it on Samsung's US website (not the Canadian one, mind you) and downloaded those..
    any suggestions welcomed
    thanks
    John B

When you say you had it working with no trouble, does that mean that you were able to scan wirelessly from image capture?
When you say it doesn't work, are you able to print still?
So after going through re-installing the driver with samsung support, now I can't use the scanner at all!  I am still able to print to it, but network scanning (even using scan manager) doesn't work anymore.
    How's that for frustrating?
I've tried reinstalling everything related to the device and it still doesn't work.  I even tried using it connected via USB and while the printer shows up correctly, the "radio button" type dialog to look at scan properties does not.  Were you able to see that?
    Thanks!

  • Canon MG6220 Printer and it has suddenly lost wifi connection.

The printer can find my wireless connection but my computer can't find the printer.  I have tried both the Wireless process and the USB process with no luck. When I have printed out my Network configuration page and went thru the USB process and it still wouldn't find the printer on my network and I was given the manual connection I noted that the IP address was 192.168.1.66 but the IP address on my wireless router is 192.168.1.254?  Is this causing a problem.  I have been printing fine for the last 4 years since I bought the printer and it just so happens I had to buy a new modem and I'm wondering if it is something to do with the new set-up.  Would love some help as I am screaming!!

I was having a similar problem to many of you. Under Windows 7, no issues with printing or scanning. Just upgraded to Windows 10 and whilst I was able to scan (MG7550) was unable to print but could see printer. Found that the issue wasn't with the printer software or drivers, but with my firewall. In my case it's Bitdefender. The solution was/isOpen BitdefenderGo to FirewallGo to Adapters - make sure adapter has the Network type set to Trusted, Stealth mode set to Off, Generic set to On Can't talk about other AV products, but perhaps have a look at what's happening with the firewall side. Anyways, hope this helps some of you.

  • Please help to get my printer and iMac speaking to each other!!

I need to get my Canon Pixma MP560, which is on our wireless network, to connect to our new iMac, which is also connected to our wireless network.

    Hi,
Is the printer connected to a VPN network?
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

  • Cannot add a Canon Network printer to iMac (Intel) OS 10.8.3

I have never been able to connect this mac to the networked printer(Canon ImageRunner Advanced C5045).  The printer is detected as a printer nearby connecting through bonjour, but it won't print with the updated drivers, it wont print with generic drivers.  I've added it by IP address, by advanced settings with IP address, When I use the canon drivers, it gives me a driver error -50.  When I use the generic drivers it says its connecting and says it sent the prints, but nothing comes out of the printer.  I'm kind of at a loss.  Any suggestions?  Please?

been sitting here non stop for two days trying to make it work.
    Under Adding it by default:
Ive used the canon driver UFR II (both US and UK) 2.43 which is supposed to work with 10.8. This leads to an error "Cannot communicate with the printer, or the printer is not supported. If the printer is supported, check the printer connection and add it again, then start Printer Utility to get the printer information." Ive used the generic PostScript printer driver and the generic PCL printer driver.  These say they have printed - but nothing comes out of the printer.
    Under adding it by IP
Ive used IPP with canon drivers/generic drivers (canon drivers error -50 - generic drivers say they have printed but nothing comes out)   Ive used Jet Direct with canon/generic drivers (no results) Ive used LPD with canon/generic drivers (no results)
    Under adding it by windows
I've found what I believe to be the printer, but it asks me to log into the printer with a user name and password - I dont have either and didnt need any such thing to set it up on the windows machine right next to it.
    Under adding it by advanced
under canon CUPS BDL - got error -50
under canon CUPS Uni-direct IP - got error -50
under canon CUPS Uni-direct USB - got error 50 and Printer is not responding.Check the printer power and connection, and then try sending printing job again.
under canon UFR - got error 50
under IPP - got couldnt connect would you like to continue - yes - says printed - no results
under IPP (http) got error -50
under IPP (https) - got error 50
under IPP (ipps) got error 50
under Jet direct - got no results
under LPD/LPR - got no results
under windows with spoolss - got log into printer with user name and password - followed by error -50
