Canon MG5250 wireless printing

I have a canon MG5250 and since changing to BT Infinity I have been unable to print wirelessly.  I have assigned the printer a static IP address outside of the DHCP range.  I have entered the passkey on the printer and it has connected to the BT Home Hub.  However, I cannot see the printer on the wireless network, I  cannot ping the printer from any of the other devices on the wireless network.
Anyone else had a similar problem and have any suggestions on how to solve this?

I had a problem like this and the answer was that my Canon printer (an IP7250) supports IPv6 as does my laptop, but the BT Home Hub does not.
Solution based on Windows 7
In Diivices & Printers, right click the printer icon and select Properties
Go to the Wireless tab
Under Webpage hopefully there is a web link to your printer clicking on this will connect to the CAnon Network Configuration.
Go to Advanced and Network settings
There is a button to Disable IPv6
and hay presto everything started to work.
From time to time I still have to turn the printer off and on to refresh the connection.

  • Canon MX340 wireless printer no longer connecting over wireless and coming up with "a communications error has occured"

I have a Canon MX340 wireless printer and have only recently started having trouble printing over the wireless connection. No settings have changed on my MacBook Pro, the printer, the router or the wifi connection and it is strange how it has just stopped working. I have tried things like restarting the laptop and removing the printer from the laptop and re-adding it. It sometimes seems to work for maybe one print but then it goes back to saying "a communications error has occured", when I try to print again.
Any help would be great. Thanks

I had the same MX340 problem.  My printer was working fine over WiFi connection to my Airport Extreme for years and then suddenly, about a month ago, it stopped printing after the first print job.  I can print once and then I have to power-cycle the printer to get it to print another time and then I have to repeat the power-cycle.
The printer seems to be "forgotten" by the network or lose its connection after the first print job.
On my MacBookPro 10.6.8 I get the error code 300...yadayadayad... On my iMac 10.5.8 it just says :communications error".
HERE IS THE FIX - I got it off this link - http://www.techsurvivors.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=24681
You have to connect to the MX340 using the printer cable that came with the printer (or any USB printer cable) and set up a hardwired USB printer queue.  Then print a couple of print jobs - I use TextEdit and type in "1234".  Then try the same thing but select your WiFi print queue - I just type another line on the same sheet of paper with TextEdit.
The WiFi connection should work again.  I did this a few more times and then disconnected the USB cable and now it continues to work without the USB print queue being used.  I can also print to the WiFi queue with my iMac.
If you still have problems I suggest you set up the printer again on the WiFi router using the "print cable connection" method.  Here's a link to a webpage someone kindly provided instructions for the process:

  • How do I connect my HP 7 1800 (Mesquite) Tablet to my Canon MP495 wireless printer?

I have a new HP 7 1800 tablet and want to print to my Canon MP495 wireless printer.  I already have other
PC's and laptops using the wireless printing, but don't know how to get my Tablet set up for the wireless printing.
Should I direct connect from my printer to the tablet to make the initial set up? Or, is there an app I'm not finding on the Canon site for this purpose?   I'd appreciate any help.

    Hi JAC63!
Welcome to the Canon Forums! If your tablet is an Android device, you should be able to find the app by going to  http://bit.ly/CanonMobileApps
That's where we keep all of our mobile apps. Depending on your needs and printer model will determine the app  you'll download! If you have other questions, just let us know!

  • HT4356 app for canon mx870 wireless printer to convert to air printer

Is there an app to enable a Canon MX870 Wireless Printer to be used as an Airprinter for IPad2

    Val85-
I suggest you look for a Canon App at the iTunes App store.  It will have limitations, but should get you printing.
There are other printing Apps with more features such as Print n Share or PrintCentral, but they can only be accessed from within other Apps that have the "Open In" option.  These include their own mail, browser, photo and text programs.  In other words, they do not provide true AirPrint capability.
Depending on your situation, a better option may be to run a program on your computer that will share its printer as AirPrint over WiFi.  Programs such as Printopia and FingerPrint can do that, and are reported to work well.  Your computer must be on and awake any time you want to print.  <Printopia for Macintosh> <FingerPrint for PC and Mac>

I have changed wireless networks and upgraded to Snow Leopard on my IMac. As a result, I cannot print to my wireless Canon MP620 printer. • Canon ip5200r wireless printing problems with Airport Extreme

I have been been printing from my iBook G4 (OS 10.3.9) using my Canon ip5200r connected to my wireless network for a couple of months without any problems. Yesterday it stopped working. When I called Canon for support, they say the problem is that my Airport Extreme is assigning different IP addresses to my computer and printer despite both being on the same network. I am not sure if it is relevant but the only recent change in my system is that earlier this week, I had a new high-speed internet modem installed. Can anyone help with this?
    Thanks!

Attached to the airport USB port I have
an unpowered hub with both a 500G disc and an HP deskjet 940c printer.
Why is that? power power power try it see what happens.

  • Home Hub 3 - Canon MP495 Wireless Printing?

Hiya, my old fella had BT Infinity installed last Friday, and is due to have his router upgraded / exchanged next week.
From an internet point of view, all is working very well and we're all impressed with it
However, I bought him a Canon MP495 printer, so that he didn't have to have his MacBook Pro connected to a printer in order to print.
So, I just wondered if anyone can give me some guidance as to how I can connect the printer to either the Router or the Home Hub, so that I can print wirelessly from the laptop?
Am I able to connect the printer to the Router / Home Hub wirelessly? Or do I need to connect via an ethernet cable?
    Any help / advice appreciated

    Hi there,
What I would suggest you do, is use a USB cable to connect the printer to the Macbook, in order to install any drivers, software, etc.
When this is done, you can safely disable the USB lead from the printer/laptop and you should be able to join your wireless network, provided of course that you give the printer the correct WPA key (used to eastablish a "handshake" with your WLAN).
Here you go Here's a link, direct from the Canon website that details the procedure better than I could ever hope to explain it. Click me
Alternatively, if you want a little more control over the installation, Here's another link, showing how you can do it manually - In fact, I would prefer to use this method over the one listed above, personally.
On a side-note, I would also recommend that at some point, you download istumbler to check for other WLANs in your vicinity and if needed, move to a less crowded channel.
    I hope this info helps.

  • Airport Extreme doesn't recognize Canon MX860 wireless printer

Yesterday I purchased an Airport Extreme router to replace my outdated Linksys. The Apple Genius guys told me the router would NOT connect via ethernet to my very old HP LaserJet 4050N, which I could live with. However, I also have a fairly new Canon MX860 printer that is connected via USB to my MacBook Pro and also it was previously set up for wireless connectivity through my Linksys home network. Now I cannot get the Airport Extreme to recognize the printer, which is in a different room from the router and modem. Please help! I can't afford all new peripherals just because I upgraded my router.

The Apple Genius guys told me the router would NOT connect via ethernet to my very old HP LaserJet 4050N, which I could live with.
Not sure why they gave you that advice. Connecting a network-ready printer (wire or wireless or both) to the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) should be no different than connecting it to any other manufacturer's router. In this case, the AEBSn would NOT be providing print server functionality and the printer would have this duty. This should hold true for both the HP and the new Canon printers.
Now I cannot get the Airport Extreme to recognize the printer, which is in a different room from the router and modem. Please help! I can't afford all new peripherals just because I upgraded my router.
How do you have the AEBSn configured with the other router? Regardless, what is the make & model of this other router?

  • My Macbook Air can't find my Canon MP3530 wireless printer.

I don't have a disk drive, obviously, so I went to the webpage for notebooks, phones, and IPads.  I started the set up process, and everything seemed to be fine.  I was able to download everything perfectly, and received the manual, image gardens, etc.  However, when I went to connect to printer, it couldn't find the printer.  I turned off my firewall, accepted from anywhere, and even restarted the process several times. How do I get this to work?? HELP!
    -Amanda1661

The manufacturer's setup instructions for some wireless printers specify that you should press a "WPS button" on your Wi-Fi router. There is no such button on AirPort devices, but you can still use WPS (W-Fi Protected Setup) to connect a printer, provided you're running AirPort Utility 6.2 or later.
If AirPort Utility is outdated, run Software Update or download the latest updater from the Apple Support website. Then follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "Method 3: Associate the printer to your Wi-Fi network via WPS." To see that part of the page, you must first click the disclosure triangle next to the heading "Adding a Wi-Fi printer that does not let you select a Wi-Fi network via the printer's built-in controls or screen."

  • Suddenly cannot print to Canon wireless printer

I'm on an iMac with Yosemite 10.10.3 and also have two Macbooks on the same network. We have been using a Canon MG6620 wireless printer for several months without a hitch. Suddenly, between documents, the printer and computers stopped talking to each other. The printer still thinks it's on the network when I check its configuration. AirPort Utility still shows it being connected to the network via my AirPort Extreme. It still shows as the default printer in System Preferences. Yet, when I try to print I get an error that says "the printer is not connected to the network." I have restarted/rebooted the computers and the printer. I have reset the printer preferences. I have unplugged the printer. I have tried printing from the Macbooks. Nothing is working, and this happened literally between me printing two different documents!!! I'm at a loss for an explanation. Any guidance would be appreciated. Oh, and this all started BEFORE I updated to 10.10.3, so don't blame the update :-)

Don't worry about that. The main thing is that you can now connect to the internal web page of the printer, which in turn means you can now print to the Canon.

  • Adding a wireless printer

I am are trying to add a Canon MP620 wireless printer to our office setup of 2 G5's (non intel) with an airport extreme (the older round type as my avatar) but after installing the printer software and drivers the next step should be to go to the main menu on the airport extreme and select 'ADD WIRELESS CLIENTS' but for some reason this is dimmed and we can proceed no further.
I have tried adding the printer by turning on the mac address under 'ACCESS' and adding the address here but this does not work either. I have tried every conceivable configuraton in the manual setup of the airport extreme settings with no joy.
The printer and airport are both 802.11g/b compliant, so no conflict there. I have even taken the printer home and set it up in exactly the same way with my G5 (again non intel) but with a time machine which worked straight away.
Does anyone know why the 'ADD WIRELESS CLIENTS' should be dimmed?

Resolved by connecting directly to mac as per Apple's site on connecting a wireless printer. However it took 3 go's before it worked.

  • Wireless printer for Mac OS X v 10.5.8

I have a Mac OS X v 10.5.8 - are there any wireless printers that will work with this version?  I purchased an HP Deskjet 3520 and it is not compatible.  Apparently I need to have a minimum of 10.6.  What HP printers are compatible?
    Thank you.

    I use a Canon MG8120 wireless printer/scanner with computer OS's 10.5 through 10.7.

  • Zyxel modem will not allow wireless printing

My Netopia modem died recently and Eircom sent me a new Zyxel D1000 modem.
I have a Canon MG7150 wireless printer and I used to be able to wirelessly print from laptop, iPad and iPhone through the Netopia modem. With the new Zyxel modem I cannot connect to the printer at all. From what I have read on this forum there is no fix for this short of buying a different modem. This is not acceptable. Can Eircom provide a modem which allows wireless printing such as the Netopia previously supplied.Otherwise I see little point in remaining an Eircom Broadband customer.

I found a way to get this working.  In the Home Networking/LAN setup set RIP direction to 'none' and RIP version to n/a or RIP1 depending on what's available.  Also disable IGMP snooping.

  • Why can i not get my ipad to recognize my wireless printer but my apple desktop works with it

Why can I not get my ipad2 to print from my my wireless printer that i use for my apple desktop

It's also possible that your wireless printer will work with a minor OS tweak if you're on Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.x. Your Mac system must be on for printing to occur. (I haven't tested with Leopard 10.5.x or Lion 10.7.x)
Details are found in this Apple Support Communities thread begun in November 2010
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2658720?threadID=2658720&tstart=0
I've been using it to print to a Canon MP560 wireless printer and an HP LaserJet 1320 USB-to-Mac printer from my wife's iPad 2 since the first day she received it for both photos and documents.  Duplex printing to the Canon does not seem to be supported.
