Canon MP 620 printer setup question

Hi, I have installed the network and drivers for my Canon MP 620. I have used the wireless connection utility to see how good the connection between the time capsule and the printer. I use the printer wirelessly but every so often I can't print to it so I have to plug the printer back into the computer, put the Canon Install disk into the Computer, re-install the network and drivers, restart the computer, follow the wireless connection wizard and then I can print to it.
My question is: Do I have to do this every time I want to access the setup wizard? Is the setup wizard already on my computer? Also is there some way of accessing the wireless connection tool without having to put the install disk in the computer?
Thanks guys

Update: I found it: the network and printer tools are located in Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter and it's in Utilities

  • Adding Canon MP 620 Printer to Network

I added a new Canon MP 620 to my home network. It's WiFi enabled. I've two laptop PCs that are able to locate the MP 620 but my MacBook cannot. The setup function can identify the printer's MAC address but it cannot find the printer for setup. It eventually brings up a screen for LPD, location, address, etc. The Canon manual provides no details. I'm not filtering MAC addresses and I've reinstalled the Canon MP620 drivers several times. When I attempt to add the printer manually, it will not allow me to install the correct drivers. I'm at a loss in terms of next steps.

I recently bought a 620 and had a problem getting my laptop to see the printer, but my desktop did see the printer. I could not find a solution in the manual. I called Canon support and they walked me through setting it up and said something to the effect that this is a new printer for them and the manual may need changes. At any rate, its been a little while and I'm not sure I remember the directions exactly, but I seem to remember him telling me to use a USB cable to connect the computer that couldn't see the printer directly to the printer. Somehow the printer talks to the computer and transfers the needed MAC address information. Sorry I can't be more geeky in my explanation, but it seemed to work fine after that. Above all I would strongly recommend you call the toll free Canon support line. Ask for someone who is specifically knowledgeable with the wifi aspect. The guy I talked with was very knowledgeable and helpful. This also helps them understand just how their manual fails.

  • Canon MP 620 printer

Using a CANON MP620 PRINTER, tries to print, sounds like it is, but blank paper comes out. Using a  Mac system  OS X 10.6.8.  Ink cartridges are all full. ????

    Hi BamBam,
When inks do not print, we recommend performing at least one cleaning and two deep cleanings on the printer.  To perform the cleanings, please follow the steps located at the links below:
PIXMA MP620 Print Head Cleaning Instructions
PIXMA MP620 Print Head Deep Cleaning Instructions
Since the ink tanks are full, if the ink still does not print after performing the cleanings, the printer will require servicing.  Please Contact Us for your servicing options.

  • Printer setup question

    Hi all,
we want to use loftware label printing and setup all in ME and in loftware so far.
When use a windows printer there is now alias for the printer available, so the printer in Loftware is :
servername\printer01" but unfortunatly this name is not allowed to use with me because of the backslashes.
Any idea how het the right name in *.pas file or to setup #Printernumber in ME?
    regards,
    Karsten

    Hello,
As per the setup we had used our printer name were never like "
    server name\printer name"
The simple reason behind it was we need to have network printer with ethernet port available, these printer have to installed directly on network. (Zebra) so we always have the printer name directly available in network.
I guess this is the only solution to this problem.

  • Bran New to Mac - Printer and Printer Setup Question

I am very new to Macs, and I'm getting a Macbook Pro when Leopard comes out.
Would I need a certain printer for the laptop and a certain connector that I would need to buy seperatly for it?
    -Shaun

    Hi Shaun
    Congratulations on the Macbook Pro!
Almost every modern printer will work just fine with the laptop. Most commonly, you would get one with a USB connection, which will attach directly to the laptop. Such a printer could also connect to an Airport Extreme/Express, and then you could print wirelessly. Make sure that the printer comes with a USB cable, or buy one - it'll likely have a "square" USB connection for the printer, and a "flat" connection for the Macbook's USB port.
Some printers also have network connections, so they can attach to a network device (like a router) and the Macbook would be able to discover and print to it, but this is more common with larger printers such as office laserjets.

  • How do you setup a canon mp620 to print from a Macbook Pro?

How can i print from my MacBook Pro with a canon mp620 printer? I have the printer setup with a PC via USB and want to add the MacBook as a new computer and print wirelessly. I have tried the installation cd and updated drivers from canon website but it still wont work.

I have managed to get my working. Firstly, I googled the CUPS drivers for the printer and then downloaded those from canons website. I then went to print and scan in system preferences and noticed that the printer had appeared there. I believe it was those drivers that made the difference but i was fiddling for hours before that so i cant be 100% sure how i got it to work.

  • My new Canon Pixma 7250 wireless printer can no longer find my wireless network. My MAC is, Yosemite 10.10.2. I've run diagnostics and Canon LAN printer setup routine many time. Is there a solution? Can anyone help?

My new Canon Pixma 7250 wireless printercan no longer find my wireless network. (It worked fine until recently) I have a Yosemite 10.10.2. I've run diagnostics and the Canon LAN printer setup routine many times. Is there a solution? Can anyone help?

Turn of the MG and unplug the power cord. Leave it off for about a minute and then reconnect the power cord and turn the power back on. Wait while the device attempts to reconnect to your wireless network - the blue wifi symbol on the MG will flash and then stay on once it has connected. If it keeps flashing then you will have to reconnect the MG to your wireless access point via the control panel on the MG.

  • Canon IP4300 Printer setup

    Greetings,
I realize that printer setup settings have to be done while the printer is conected via USB and that seems to work fine except...
I have 2 logical printers pointing to my one physical printer. One for USB and one for wireless. The settings seem to only take place for the USB printer - i.e. I have an auto shutoff setting set - it seems to be ignored when I do wireless printing but works fine when the printer is connected via USB - is there anyway that the "usb" settings can be used by the "wireless" printer
    Thanks,

  • How to get a newHP driver to appear in the Printer Setup Dropdown box?

I asked this question in a slightly different way in another thread, but I think it was too specific. The problem is that I installed the new driver for an HP OfficeJet 6110 and it works fine via USB, but it is ultimately a remote printer. The wireless Print server works fine with another windows PC and I can ping it via the Mac and get it to spool with the generic driver (gibberish). HP mounts the driver like an application and it doesn't appear in the Printer Setup as one of the options, and I don't know how to get it to appear there. I've searched the forums and Gimp appears to work on Epson/Canon, etc., but not HP, so I'm at a bit of a loss.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,

I have the same problem. Attempting to add a printer, Stylus Photo R200 (USB OS 10.4.11) to the Printer List I get the same error message, "client=error-request-value-too-long". I've reinstalled drivers multiple times to no avail.
Somebody out there know what to do?

  • Printer setup utility- driver not appearing in list

Hi - I have installed a Canon printer driver (latest version as I checked), restarted my new MacBook (with updated OSX) but the driver does not appear in the list when i try to set printer up. Printer is connected to USB. It is a Canon Pixus iP7500. Latest driver is 4.1.9 - I checked.
I think my question is - how do i get the driver to appear in the Utility's list?
    Thanks.

For the Canon PIXMA drivers (or PIXUS in Japan), the Print Using menu is meant to automatically change to Canon IJ Printer when it detects the USB connected printer. If it doesn't change, you cannot manually browse to it like you can for other drivers.
Often the cause of the correct driver not being selected is that the software hasn't installed correctly. Following is some steps that I have used myself and offered to others that has resolved this problem.
    1. Open Printer Setup Utility, click on Printer Setup Utility and select Reset Printing System.
    2. Close the Printer Setup Utility.
    3. Go to Library > Printers > Canon and delete the contents of the BJPrinters folder.
    4. Go to Library > Receipts and delete the file Canon iPxxxx xxx.pkg
    5. Empty the Trash
    6. Restart the Mac
    7. Install the latest version of the Canon driver (which you have).
    8. Once the driver installation is complete, go to Applications > Utilities and open Disk Utility. Run the Repair Disk Permissions option.
    9. Open Printer Setup Utility. If the printer is not already displayed, click Add.
    10. Select the Default Browser view and select the Canon printer connected via the USB port. The Print Using menu should automatically change to Canon IJ Printer.
    11. Click Add to add the printer.
If the Canon IJ Printer doesn't appear automatically then please reply.

  • I am attempting to connect my Canon Pixma MG5220 printer/copier/scanner to my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8.  After loading software from Canon and attempting to print, I get the following message: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED.  What can I do to fix this?

I just purchased and installed a Canon Pixma MG5220 printer/copier/scanner to my PC desktop with Windows XP.  It works fine.  It has been successfully installed on my network and I am able to use it with my laptop running VISTA.  However, I am trying to connect it to my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8 and I am not having much luck.  I can see it as one of the printer choices when attempting to print; however, I get the following message:
    NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I have been searching for answers, but nothing seems to work yet.  Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Let me understand:
    - you have purchased named canon, which is conencted to your PC running windows xp
    - downloaded driver for win xp, and canon works fine
    - canon is connected to that PC via USB
    - that Canon is also activated as network printer, by allowing print sharing in windows; how did you set that option?
    - now, you are in Mac OS x 10.6.8, downloaded Canon driver for Mac OS X, installed it, detected printer on the network, printer was installed; was it detected as attached to that PC running win XP? or not?
or you set canon by being connected to your mac directly via USB?
Now, there are some questions you should answer as some details are missing, and your initial text is not clear. Can you print if Canon is connected directly to your mac? did you try that? if not, do it before answering.

  • New Canon Pixma MG2220 printer - install problems on Windows XP

I bought a new Pixma MG2220 printer and received it 2 days ago. I followed the instructions and installed it from the provided CD on my 10 year old Compaq S4020WM desktop computer upgraded with 1GB RAM and 1TB hard drive running Windows XP SP3.
The CD installation took a very long time to complete (maybe an hour or so) and things did not work right. In particular the My Image Garden software was very slow and sluggish to respond. So I downloaded and installed the latest drivers and software from the Canon website on top of the existing installation, which did not help. The My Image Garden software began crashing completely with an error message about a bad .dll file. After talking to Canon tech support on the telephone, the support tech admitted that this software CD was probably not compatible with my old XP computer. The My Image Garden software uses like 500MB RAM which is too much resources for my machine. So the rep had me uninstall My Image Garden.
At that point I decided to uninstall everything and start over from scratch because something was obviously not right. For example, the Canon MP drivers were using 755 MB RAM, which seemed much too large. Obviously things had not installed properly from the setup CD, in general. The date on the setup CD was 2011, so apparently it was 2 years old, and long out of date!?
So I uninstalled everything except the Canon registration and onscreen user manual. I also kept Windows Adobe RGB 1998 because I didn't see any way to uninstall it. I also uninstalled .NET 4 which the setup CD had said was necessary, as well as Microsoft XPS EP which My Image Garden had also told me was needed. Then I cleaned up my computer as well as possible with help of Revouninstaller and Ccleaner, which was necessary because things were very messy with many uninstalled remnants and incorrect registry entries. I feel lucky to have survived those tasks without having to reinstall my op system. It wasn't easy.
Then I installed the following 2 modules (only) downloaded from the Canon website:
    MG2200 series MP Drivers Ver. 1.01 (Windows 8/8...         01/31/13     14.07 MB
    File Name: mp68-win-mg2200-1_01-ejs.exe
This file is a driver for Canon IJ multifunction printers. You can install the following items of the software: MP Drivers: The driver for Canon IJ multifunction printer. IJ Scan Utility: The software that allows you to easily scan photos, documents, etc.
    *My Printer Ver. 3.1.0 (Windows 8/8 x64/7/7 x64/...         01/07/13     5.12 MB
    File Name: mypr-win-3_1_0-ea11_2.exe
This file allows you to easily change the settings such as the paper source settings and provides you with information on how to solve problems such as ink smudging.
I believe that's everything required to access all of the print, copy, and scan operations of this MG2220 printer. Based on my current understanding, I would classify everything else as optional. I use free Irfanview for editing and manipulation of images, which seems a satisfactory substitute for the other software.
I did not reinstall .NET 4 or Microsoft XPS EP, because apparently they're only required if you install the My Image Garden and/or Quick Menu modules. I also did not reinstall the Easy-WebPrint EX module which apparently only applies to printing with the Internet Explorer browser, while I primarily use Firefox, Chrome, or Opera browsers. And of course I did not reinstall My Image Garden nor the Quick Menu, which were so problematical originally.
On the bright side, the Canon MP drivers appeared to install correctly this time, using only 35 MB RAM (vs 755 MB previously). Also the Canon IJ Scan utility was reinstalled automatically as a part of that driver installation process. Those items have their own shortcuts. I found it useful to make one additional shortcut via Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes > "Canon MG2220 series printer", to allow easy access to all of the internal printer settings and variables. Like I said, I believe this is all that's required, in addition to some image manipulation software such as Irfanview. I deal mostly with documents and never print photos nor use cameras. Those who have large photo collections and/or cameras may need something like My Image Garden or Easy-PhotoPrint EX.
I previously used Lexmark printers for the prior 10+ years, where everything is controlled by software from the computer. I never had to use the buttons on the printer. That's obviously different with this Canon printer, which will take some getting used to.
I'm disappointed that there's apparently no way to enlarge or reduce the % copy size with this model. Is there? I also don't find any setting for lighter/darker when making copies. Is there? There are apparently no other enhancements or filters available when copying. Are there? Similarly, scanning seems remarkably unversatile with this model and I can't find any way to set a scan for ligher/darker or apply various enhancements/filters. Are there?
The printing seems OK, but I must still decide whether the very limited copy and scan options will be sufficient to my needs. I'm not sure yet. I might take it back for a refund and get something better, if I knew what was better. That's another research project. Suggestions?
    Thanks for any feedback.

Thanks for your info but the MG5420 is more than twice the cost at my local Walmart and Staples stores.
I thought I was being smart to buy the MG2220 as a later model(?), but it looks like the prior model MG2120 has more copier and scanner features according to the online specs at the Canon website (see copies below).
For example the MG2120 allows 25%-400% reduction/enlargement when copying, while the MG2220 does not. Can you verify this?
Also does the MG2120 allow for setting copying to lighter/darker? (I don't understand that complicated technical lingo in the specs.)
    Thanks.

  • CAN'T GET PRINTER TO ADD IN PRINTER SETUP UTILITY

I've recently purchased a Epson DX4850 printer for use on a Mac using 10.3.9. I installed without problem and it worked fine for first 4 days. Then the driver seemed to disappear. I tried to readd through printer setup utility but it came up with message "SERVER ERROR SERVICE UNAVAILABLE". I tried reinstalling, redownloading driver from Epson website, deleting prefernces and reinstalling but it wouldn't work.
I don't get the message anymore but when I try to add printer it says its found printer driver do I want to refresh the screen but then when I click ok nothing happens.
Under Epson USB it's blank and under USB it has Stylus driver with a ? and not installed.
I've had the printer checked and that works fine.
    CAN ANYBODY PLEASE HELP ?

Sorry Hirsty I can't help but just to go on the list that I"m having similiar problems with my Canon ip4200. I'm running 10.3.7 and can't even find the drivers even though I've installed them from the disc and then from a download. Still won't show up.
