Canon MP560 printer

Pahu was trying to find a solution for me but I think I stumped him.  Everytime I try to print wirelessly with my Canon MP560 I have to first delete the printer then re add it.  How can I avoid having to do this every time?

I'm running 10.6.8 and have a Canon MP560 printer which I print to (and scan with) wirelessly, and it works fine. I did need to load the latest Canon drivers and software in order for it to work. You can find them at http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_s eries/pixma_mp560#DriversAndSoftware

  • Canon MP560 Printer is not detected by System Preferences

    Hi everyone,
I am using a 2010 Macbook Pro with OS X Version 10.7.5, I have had this Canon MP560 Printer for about 2 years now and it has been working perfectly until lately when it starts to keep on returning "a communication error has occured" whenever I tried to print something.
I have read through the forum and noticed that people have experienced the same thing as me.
So for me, I have tried the following solutions:
    1. Checking if the LAN connection is working and printing the LAN test page from printer. It does print ad says that wireless LAN is enabled an active.
    2. I deleted the printer and scanner from System Preferences and try to re-add it
    3. Update my software
When I tried to re-add it, there is no printer detected. I tried doing the step-by-step that PAHU recommended that worked for some one but unfortunately it does not work for me. My printer still does not appear when I tried to look up a printer.
(Here is the step by step that I followed:
The printer component of the MP560 can take longer to appear than the scanner component. The scanner uses Bonjour to advertise itself on the wireless network, while the printer component uses a proprietary protocol called "canonijnetwork". If you select to add a printer and have the Default Add Printer view open, you will see the MP560 as Bonjour Scanner in the Kind column. But if you wait at least 15 seconds more, the printer should appear showing "canonijnetwork" in the Kind column.
If this printer component does not appear after 30 seconds maximum then it would suggest a problem with the printer driver installation. So open Finder and navigate to HD > Library > Printers > Canon > BJPrinter and trash the contents of this folder. Then download the latest MP560 driver via this link and run the installer. With the installation completed, try to add the printer again.)
Since I have tried these suggestions but still is not successful I wonder what's wrong with my Printer/Macbook and if there's any other way to add printer (using IP address for example ). If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks!

Yes I can Ping the IP address from Network Utility.
Before, my Macbook couldn't even recognize the scanner, but now I can add the Scanner from System Preferences.
However, my printer is stll not detected. I am missing some sort of an application or something?

  • Hello, I currently have a MacBook snow leapord and i'm trying to connect it with my Canon MP560 printer, i put in the CD and installed everything properly but now when i add a printer it says a Queue already exists, i click continue and nothing happens???

    Hello,
I'm using a MacBook Snow Leapord and I'm trying to connect it with my Canon MP560 printer/scanner.
I installed the CD and followed along with the manual and did everything it asked, at the end it told me it was finished.
So then I went to go print something and an error had occured so i went to the file menu on Microsoft Word for
Mac and clicked Print/Add Printer and then i click on the Canon MP560 series-1 as it was the only one to click on.
When I did it stated that I already has a Queue for this printer and if I'd like to add a new one so I clicked continue and nothing
    had happend. PLEASE HELP
    sincerely,
    Laura.

I would recommend to download the driver appropriate for your system from the Canon webiste or, after installing it, to run software update and it will detect it for you.
If you have the last driver appropriate for your system, you may wish to reset the printing system. To do this, go to Sys prefs/print and fax and, upon clicking minus button, also press Option/alt key. You will be asked to confirm, do it. Then, add the printer by pressing plus button, it should work now.
But, before doing this, download the last good driver, CDs usually contain outdated drivers.

    Hi,
I just bought a brand new iMac and cannot for the life of me connect it to my Canon MP560 printer, I have installed pretty much all of the drivers on the canon support site but I have no idea how to get it working!

Well that certainly is the correct path to the networked printer. So with this queue not printing then this is a concern.
There are several things I suggest you do if you haven't already.
    1. Turn off the power to the MP560 and unplug the power cord for 1 minute. Then reconnect the power cord and turn it back on again.
    2. Open Print & Fax and delete the MP560 network printer. Highlight the printer in the list and then press the minus button to remove it.
    3. With Print & Fax still open, move the mouse to the printer list and Control-click. Click the menu Reset printing system. This will delete all printers and scanners in Print & Fax, so if you have other printers or scanners that are still working fine then you may not want to perform this step.
    4. Restart the Mac
    5. With the Mac restarted and connected to your wireless network, open Print & Fax and click the + button to add a printer. With the Default view displayed the MP560 should be seen - once as a scanner (showing Bonjour Scanner in the Kind column) and after a few seconds it will also show as a printer (showing canonijnetwork in the Kind column). Select the printer entry and ensure the Print Using menu changes to Canon MP560 series. Click Add to complete the print queue creation.
    6. Try to print to this newly created queue.
    7. Cross your fingers
    8. Scream for joy when the printer starts to print or curse and reply to me when it doesn't....

  • Canon MP560 prints wirelessly ok but scanner is not recognized

Something is going on with the latest Mac OS. Seems to be only with Intel Macs only.Image capture does not recognize either scanner I have.(Canoscan 8400F also).
I see others have broken connections other than Canon also.
Has Apple given an official release about this problem? Some have workarounds that are at programming level, but i'm not going anywhere near that fix. And Twain Sane isn't much of a fix as it doesn't give full capability of scanning like the original program used to run the scanner.I don't want to go through a whole number of steps to get it to work.I don't have Photoshop to make a workaround.
Here is what my friend had to do to get his new and old one to work:
"I am okay now, as I have the older CS3 Photoshop now sitting next to the CS4 version, and I've got the older one running in Rosetta compatibility mode and this lets me run the Canon scanner driver in full 16 bit colour mode. If I only wanted 8 bit colour files, I could just use the Canon utility but for working with restorations of old images, you want 16 bit greyscale (for old B&W pictures) or 16 bit colour mode."

In order to use Image Capture for scanning via USB from either Canon device you may need to update the Canon ICA drivers included with Snow Leopard. The Canon v1.5.1 update can be downloaded via the following link.
    http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100213301.html
This will update the Canon IJScanner1 package located within the core Image Capture > Devices folder.
For the wireless connected MP560 I don't believe Image Capture can be used. But you can use Preview or even the MP560 Scanner queue in Print & Fax. You will need to install the Canon MP560 scanner driver listed below.
    http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100204302.html
With regards to using Preview, to see the networked scanner you will have to click on File > Import from Scanner > Included Networked Devices. Then when you click on File > Import from Scanner again, the MP560 should be shown as an available device.
Has Apple given an official release about this problem?
I don't believe there is a known problem with OS X 10.6.4 Image Capture so therefore I would say there is no official release from Apple.
Some have workarounds that are at programming level, but i'm not going anywhere near that fix.
I would suggest that the workaround you have seen, especially at a programming level, would be meant for older models of scanners that have no official support from the vendor. But this is not needed for your scanners as Canon has provided drivers that function correctly on 10.6 for the majority of their scanners and AIO's.
And Twain Sane isn't much of a fix as it doesn't give full capability of scanning like the original program used to run the scanner.
There is no need to SANE. The following link is the Canon provided scanner driver for your CS8400F.
    http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0900334701.htm
I don't want to go through a whole number of steps to get it to work.I don't have Photoshop to make a workaround.
Like SANE, Photoshop is not needed. I am scanning over a wireless network at home with my new MP990 using the Canon MP990 scanner queue without a problem.
And my LiDE200 connected via USB to my Mac works fine also.

  • Canon MP560 Printer Help

I just updated our OS to Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and since that upgrade am not able to print. The error message is "Error:/System/Library/Printers/Libraries/PrintJobMgr/Contents/MACOS/PrintJobMg r failed"
I can't figure out how to fix it!

The error message is related to the core printing system rather than the specific Canon driver. This can happen if you upgraded from OS X 10.5. I suggest you reset the printing system which will delete your printers but not their drivers.
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse
    4. Click the "Reset printing system ..." popup
    5. Restart your Mac
Once your Mac has restarted, open Print & Fax and add your MP560 printer queue (don't add the scanner component just yet). With the printer add see if you can print without an error. If you can then open Print & Fax again and add the scanner part (if you want the scanning function). If the printing of a file does not work then reply.

  • Canon MP560 Printer Error

    Hello
I have used my Canon MP560 for over a year and it worked fine while it was in use, however, I put it away for several months and now I am having issues setting it back up again.
When I connect via WiFi, the printer stays offline ("The printer is not connected") - the blue light on the printer is on, and I have successfully connected to my network.
When I connect via the USB cable, I get a 311 error ("Error Number : 311 Printer is in use or an error has occurred. If an error has occurred, eliminate the cause of the error.").
I would prefer to have it wireless, but at this point, I'll be glad if it'll work via the USB!
Any help fixing this issue would be appriciated.
    Thank you in advance
(I'm running on Lion 10.7.1 on my mid-2010 macbook pro)

Based on the error message it sounds like the print queues have not been created correctly. So open Print & Scan and select the printer and remove it by pressing the minus button under the Printers list. Actually, if you have no other printers installed, I would recommend you reset the printing system. This will remove all printers from Print & Scan but not the associated printer drivers, so you will just need to add the printers again. The procedure for the reset is described below.
With the print queues removed one thing to note is that the USB printer has a different setup to the wifi printer. So if you do connect the MP560 to the Mac via USB, this should automatically create a new printer in Print & Scan. But this printer will not print to the wifi MP560. And the same applies in reverse, which is probably what you have right now with the 311 error.
If you don't want to create a USB MP560 and simply have the wifi MP560, then don't connect the printer to the Mac via USB and click the + in Print & Scan to add the wifi connected MP560. With the Default view selected, the MP560 should appear in this view, first as a scanner and after a few seconds, it will appear again showing canonijnetwork in the Kind column. Select this entry and the Print Using menu should change to "Canon MP560 series". If this does not happen, then download and install the Canon driver update that sig has provided a link to.
How to Reset the Printing System
Open System Preferences > Print & Scan
Move your mouse over the Printers list
Hold down the Control button and click the mouse
Click the "Reset printing system ..." popup
    Restart your Mac

  • How can I print from my IMAC with Mavericks OS to the Canon MP560 printer's rear tray?

I have just moved from a Windows platform to Imac.  On Windows, in Word, I was able to select where the paper was feeding (automatically select, rear tray, etc.) but now I can't select rear tray.  I've already tried the "Quality & Media" under presets but was not given an option to change where the paper comes from.  Can anybody help?

You need to turn on Printer Sharing on both the PC and OS X. I can't help you on Vista but in OS X it's System Preferences - Sharing - check the Printer Sharing box.

  • Printer Driver Updates, How Often?  (Canon MP560 is 3 months behind)

I have a new iMac 27" with Snow Leopard and a new Canon MP560 printer hooked up via Wifi.
I didn't use the Canon install disk because it didn't have Snow Leopard compatible drivers on it...instead I went to print & Fax and did an "add printer" (it detected just the MP560 scanner). Then I did an apple "software update" which grabbed the new Canon driver package, after that the printer showed up and all was well.
HOWEVER, I noticed that the driver from apple is version 10.26.0 while Canon's latest is 10.26.1 (as of October 2). I don't mind downloading drivers from Canon and installing them but I'm wondering about a few things.
    1. How long does it usually take for manufacturers drivers to get to Apple's update server? 3 months seems like a long time.
    2. If I manually install drivers from Canon now, will future driver updates from Apple's server still be detected and install properly?
    3. In "print & fax" under "options and supplies" I can see the driver version for the printer. However there doesn't seem to be any way to see the version for the scanner driver. According to the Canon site the scanner driver has a different version than the printer driver. How can I see the version number for the scanner driver to check if it's up to date?
I'm mainly interested in an answer to #3 above. Canon has a CUPS printer driver, a scanner driver, an ICA driver and an "MP driver" all for OSX 10.6 I'd like to know how to find out which ones are already installed before I install new ones.
System profiler only seems to show the CUPS driver version.
    Thanks!

Printer manufacturers must deliver drivers to Apple if they are to be included with an OS X distribution. As for Canon's version branding you would need to ask them since Apple does not produce printer drivers except for Apple-made printers, and Apple doesn't make printers anymore.
If newer drivers become available for an installed printer then Software Update will download them only if they are available through an Apple update.
Since scanner drivers are not the same as printer drivers and a manufacturer may have more updates for one than the other, don't expect to find version numbers to be the same.
Scanner modules may be in many different locations. Download Easy Find - VersionTracker or MacUpdate - and use it to locate the scanner software files for your model.

  • Canon pixma mp560 printer/scanner doesn't work wirelessly

I have a canon mp560 printer/scanner.  It works fine w/ my mac when I'm plugged in w/ the usb but then goes offline and won't print when I try to go wireless.  I've reinstalled the software and everything functions fine, but the printer and scanner will not run wirelessly.  I've tried the canon website and have not been able to solve the problem.  Does this have something to do w/ bonjour?  I'm relatively new to macs.  This printer runs wirelesly w/out problem on my pc.  Thanks for any help.

Your problem is being caused by sharing this printer via USB. The UFR2 driver for Mac causes problems when being shared, even to other Mac's. Since the MF has an Ethernet port you would be better suited to buying an Ethernet hub and connecting all computers and the printer to this hub.
As for the scanning, I don't believe there is a network scanning application for Mac. AFAIK the MF ScanGear for OS X is for USB only so you would need to have the MF connected to the Mac for scanning - unless it has a Send function which would allow you to send a scan to a shared folder on the Mac. But looking at the spec pages for this model I could not tell if it has this feature.

  • HT4623 Update canon mp560 to print on ipad

    HOw
Can I update my Canon MP560 printer to print on my Ipad

Only Canon can make it compatible with AirPrint by releasing a firmware update for it. You could see if Canon have their own app in the app store that supports that model, or there are third-party printer apps such as PrintCentral Pro and Print n Share which might work with it.

  • Is it possible to have an HP and Canon wireless printer on the same wireless home network?

I presently have a Canon MP560 printer on my wireless home network. I do not have this printer installed on my computer. I purchased an HP 3520e-All-In-One hoping I could have both on my home network.  My os is Windows 7 64bit. I tried to install the HP 3520e, and received the following error message - "Your printer failed to join the wireless network", and said the issue was that MAC address filtering may be enabled on my computer, which it is not.  It is disabled.  Question:  Is there a workaround to have two wireless printers on the same network, and if so, what is it?  Thank you so much for your help.

    Hi,
I actually have 3 printers from 3 vendors on my home network. I have tested using MAC filter and w/o MAC filter, no problem at all. The MAC filter should be on the router, not from your computer. Have you checked that ? My suggestion: use a computer on the network to connect the printer using USB cable then setup from there. The printer will use EXISTING setup from your computer and you won't need to enter security key.
    Regards.

  • Importing scanned images from Canon MP560

First let me say, that I am technically challenged. I have a Canon MP560 printer. When I scan a photo, it goes to my PC in MP Navigator. The only way I can get it to iPhoto, is to drag it to documents, then drag it to iPhoto. There must be an easier way. Also, is there a way to scan & import multiple photos at once? I'm sure there are easy answers/solutions to my problem, but like I said, I'm not very tech savvy. I'd appreciated any suggestions. Thanks.

unfortunately these are totally a function of your scanner and the software you are using to scan - your best bet is the scanner manual.
Since you are scanning to a PC it is unlikely that any here in a Mac forum will have much information
Is your scanner a network scanner or is it just directly connected to your PC?
Can you connect it to your Mac? If so see if you can use the scan function in Preview to san
As to multiple photos - not easily - you can scan multiple photos as an image and then once that image is in iPhoto duplicate it once for each photo in it and crop out all but one photo in each copy so you end up with the photos individually in iPhoto

  • MacBook Air and Canon MP560

I previously had a MacBook Pro that worked wirelessly with my Canon MP560 printer.  I recently purchased a MacBook Air and I'm trying to set up the printer with my new computer.  I tried downloading the driver directly from the Canon website and I tried downloading one from Apple's website.  Both times it installed correctly but when I tried to print it says that the software for the printer I am trying to use is not longer supported.  It's on the list of supported printers but it's not working.  HELP!

OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system

  • Canon MP560 Issue

    Hello,
I am having an issue with my Canon MP560 printer. I can print over the wifi connection the first time I add the printer, but after about 2 hours, the printer goes to sleep.
After this, I am unable to print from it (says Communication Error) until I delete the printer and reinstall it.
I was wondering if anyone knew what was going on. I already tried giving the printer a static IP.
    Thanks,
    Nick

I had exactly the same problem. I'd tried all the suggested methods I could find including re-installing the software, using a fixed IP address, reseting the printing system on the Mac etc but none had any effect. By chance I found that pinging the IP address of the printer would often be enough to wake it up so that I could "Resume" it. Other times going to the IP address in my browser would do the trick.
Canon's 2nd level help-desk's only suggestion (and this was a definite guess) was that a firmware upgrade might solve the problem. You can check the version on your printer by going to the IP address in your browser. Unfortunately, firmware upgrades have to be carried out physically by Canon authorised service agents which means either sending it off or a lengthy trip to a business park in the middle of nowhere. I liked the printer but wasn't prepared to put up with the unreliability. As I'd only had it a week I returned it to the supplier for a refund.
From memory my the firmware on my printer was 1.040 and the latest is 1.060. Canon don't appear to make it available for download so there's no changelog available.
Could anyone who has a reliably working MP560 can tell us what firmware version they have.
