Canon MP600 driver missing

After installing my canon mp600 print driver from the cd and down loading it from canon, I can't get it to show up. I can see all the other print drivers that installed with Leopard.
Is there any known issue with the mp600 driver? I couldn't find any references to it on the discussion board.

I should have added this from another thread, it got my scanner working after the Leopard upgrade.

Need Canon MP600 Driver for Macbook Pro Retina running OS10.9.1 Mavericks, Any Suggestions?

The Canon website says the MP600 printer is not supported after OS10.7 but they do not offer any advice on alternatives. I really need the basic print functions to print things such as web pages and documents and being able to use the scanner too would be nice. Other features I can live without. The printer is connected directly to the Macbook using USB. Any suggestions on using drivers already loaded as standard on my Mac or generics that I can find online would be appreciated.

Well I discovered the hard way another function deleted in SL!
I have a Canon MP600 multifunction unit. Now when I go to print, I can NOT specify certain pages to print such as 1, 3, 7, 10. In Tiger & Leopard I could.
I finally found the option for printing all even or all odd pages under "Paper Handling". This helps but this means I have to switch to another screen to get that option. And why there instead of under instead of "Duplex Printing and Margin", a more logical place for the even or odd selection if not on the main page.
Also missing is the option to just print the current page.
For one document I wanted to print, I selected the pages one-by-one on the first page of the printer dialogue by selection a range of say 3 to 3.
Is this all the SL printer driver? Will the old Leopard driver work? If so how do I get it back?

I agree with Todd. You must have been using Office or Acrobat or some other application that provided this feature. The Preview application included with 10.6 has exactly the same print options as that provided with 10.5.

The Duplex Printing menu is provided by Canon. It is known as a PDE (Print Dialog Extension). When you think about, if the printer can print duplex then you usually don't want to print odd or even pages. This is more suited for printers that have no duplex option, where you would need to print one side then reload and print the other - hence it being provided by Apple and not the vendor.
Also missing is the option to just print the current page.
Preview does have an additional menu under File called 'Print Selected Page'.

That was also the case with Preview on 10.5. So again, you must be referring to a particular application that had print current page. BTW - if it was Acrobat you were using on 10.5 then this is still available with 10.6.

No. The issues you are mentioning appear to be application specific. As for installing the Leopard driver on 10.6, I don't believe the driver v5.8.3 for 10.5 and earlier can be used on 10.6. In testing the installation of the v5.8.3 driver on 10.6, it did appear to install but without an MP600 to connect to I cannot be certain it will work. So you may need to test this yourself. But that said, I don't believe the v5.8.3 driver will give you back the settings you want...

Photoshop Elements 9 Printer Driver Problems with Canon MP600 printer

I'm having problems using my Canon MP600 printer with Photoshop Elements 9 with regard to the paper allocation. The MP600 has 2 paper trays and for some reason when using Elements it prefers you to use the top loading (auto sheet feeder) method all the time. For space reasons I need to use the bottom cassette. When you initially go into the settings for the printer within elements you can choose the cassette and paper type etc no problem and make a print. When you go back in to do another print it changes the setting back to auto sheet feeder so you have to change it back again which is winding me up! I have got the latest drivers for the printer and they are set up to how I would like the printer to work but Elements changes some of those settings for some reason. Does anyone know a way of fixing this please ?? When I'm not in Photoshop if I go to print something from the web it performs perfectly so I can only assume its Elements thats changing the settings.
Also when I print small thumbnail sized pictures on an A4 sheet of paper to test what the photo colour will look like when I go back into the print menu it puts the thumnail picture back in the center of the sheet of A4 rather than leaving it where it was, so then you have to put in the top and sideways measurements again to carry on ! The last version of Photoshop I had never did that. Does anyone know had to solve that problem ?? Any thoughts on the above problems would be gratefully recieved !

Thank you for your suggestions. I downloaded a more recent version of Twain, but this didn't help. I also tried closing and opening Photo Shop and restarting my computer without success. Reinstalling Photo Shop sounds like a very promising solution, but I'm not sure I will do it. In the meantime I can scan items using a printer program. These scans open in Photo Shop. It is an extra step.

After upgrade to Maverick, no pilot for canon MP600 scanner, i need to install back the old OSX, how can I do?

The problem is that Canon MP600 is old and have no interface for scan, even command from the printer function keyboard.

Erase your hard drive then install the OS X version your prefer. If you have a backup of the old system, then erase the drive and restore the backup.
Since you haven't provided any useful information about your hardware or what system you want to install, this is as far as i csn go.

Mountain Lion Image Capture won't recognize my Canon MP600 Scanner

I'm not sure when it happened as I don't use my scanner all that much but at some point in the last month or so Image Capture can'is no longer able to see my scanner. It's a multi function Canon MP600 printer/scanner. I can still print but no go on scanning. I checked out the Canon site for drivers/updates but there are none. System Report sees the MP600 and like I said, I can print just not scan. I'm running 10.8.2.
Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated.

This might have been my fix, too. I did as this instructed; however, after installing v.2.11 from Apple's site and deleting the printer, then adding it back again (I also unplugged and replugged the printer), nothing changed.
I then did as "noseyp" below suggested and at the Canon site added the scanner driver for Mac OS 10.7. That process (after I bypassed my security roadblock), required a computer restart.
So was is it v.2.11 installation (plus the restart) that made the difference? Or was it the 10.7 scanner driver? I won't know.
I'd suggest to anyone to do as "legendarybc" suggested, but then do restart your computer. If that doesn't work, then add the 10.7 scanner driver from:

Canon MP600 Scanner not recognised

OSX 10.8.4 does not recognize my scanner in the Canon MP600 anymore plase advise why this is and how to correct it

Look in the HD/Library/Applications Support/Canon folder. That's where the driver for my Canon printer is located. If you install it for only the current user and not all users it might be in the Users/Home/LIbrary/Application Support/Canon folder.
For other files for the printer look in the HD/Library/Printers folder.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

Canon MP600 scanner not working - help!!

I have a Canon MP600 scanner/copier/printer. It's connected to my MacBook which I purchased in Sept 2007. I have 10.5.2 on my computer. Computer's HD failed after 4 months, then flex cable (BUS cable?) had to be replaced about a week ago. Scanner worked fine before 10.5.2 and the hard driver failing.
Scanner scans the document, but a screen pops up on the computer that says "Unable to save file. The system cannot find the path specified."
I've updated and installed all the drivers from Canon's website. I cannot figure out what is causing the problem, or how to rectify it?

I had the same issue with a Canon MP600. Printing
did work, but it refused to scan with scanner not connected
message.
I updated all the drivers, no luck.
As a last resort, I changed the USB cable to a certified
USB 2.0 high speed one and it started scanning
I would suggest to try the following procedures:
- find a USB high speed cable
- connect just the mac and the printer
- test
If it it works it might be the old cable or some
interference with another USB device.
Reconnecting one at a time the other devices will
be the final step .
If it does not work also after having updated the
drivers and standalone with a Hi-speed USB cable
I have no additional clues, sorry.

Installing Canon MP600 printer

Cannot install Canon MP600 printer. I've cleared out all the old Canon software, then downloaded all latest drivers form Canon, but when I try to add the printer I get message
"An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer.
successful-ok-conflicting-attributes"
Any ideas how to resolve this?

My mp600 installed perfect. If you have the cd that came with it, I just installed the included drivers and all went fine. Try trashing all the canon software again. Search with spotlight to see if any other canon programs are in folders elsewhere and trash them too. Then try reinstalling again. Even without installing the drivers, your mac should recognize and make usable the mp600 (it just has less print settings than the actual canon driver).

Hi, to everybody who has a problem with the scanner MP600 on Mavericks. Found a way how it works:
Uninstall and Reinstall the software according to the instruction that Candacefae gave us. Instead pick software and driver for Lion including MP Navigator. Then Restart Computer. After done click on Application folder and Canon Utilities. Then click on MP Navigator. And voila. You can scan.
A little annoyance but it works. Keep in mind - clicking on System Preferences and Open Scanner will not work!
For everybody else who does not want to deal with all the steps there is always Vuscan - just cost $79.95 for the Premiumversion. Works with all Models no matter how old.

Sleep Issue: Canon MP500 Driver

Hi all,
This has been driving me absolutely crazy... I hope someone can help!
I have a Canon MP500 that I love, except for the fact that when I use it, it will not let my iMac go to sleep. Whenever my wife or I print something the program/driver "MP500" launches and will not quit automatically after the print is done and out. (MP500 Version 4.0 build 157.2, Copyright 2003-2005 Apple Computer, Inc.)
This would normally just be annoying - but the computer will NOT go to sleep or shut down at scheduled times when this program is running! The entire system ignores all of the energy saver preferences when this program is running. My computer runs all day or night (with only the monitor shutting off by itself) UNTIL I quit the "MP500" program. As soon as I quit it, the computer returns to normal.
I have downloaded and installed the most current Canon printer drivers and software numerous times. I have even created a new user as a last resort and it STILL does it.
Today, I went to a friend's house to check out their new computer and noticed that it was not asleep when we walked in the room. Sure enough, I checked the dock and "MP600" was running! They have a new Canon MP600 multifunction printer that is doing the exact same thing mine was! They thought there was something wrong with the computer.
I have all of the most current updates installed, I have the printer plugged directly into the back USB ports and do not run ANY third party hacks on the machine. All printer and Mac software is as up to date as possible.
Any ideas? It's driving me insane to think of all the electricity this is wasting - not only at my house, but for everyone who owns one of these!

I seem to have finally figured this issue out.
In the Printer Setup Utility, there is an option in the menu bar under "Printer Setup Utility" called "Reset Printing System." I had never seen this option before, so I decided that it would be a good shot to try it out. It deleted all of my printers and print profiles, but after re-adding them, the problem is GONE! Now when I print a page, the MP500 application opens while printing, and then CLOSES!!! Thank God, finally! I new this was an easy fix
I will try it on my friends computer in a few days, but I am pretty sure this is the fix.

Canon Mp600 will not work when I try to use photoshop print settings since I upgraded to latest Maverick?

I upgraded to latest Maverick . Now when I use PhotoshopC5 my print settings crash every time I even touch the button. My printer is a Canon MP600 and worked with all Photoshop settings until this week. Help!

The last driver that Canon released for the MP600, v10.5.1.2.0, was for Mac OS X 10.7. Since you mention upgrading to Mavericks you could have a driver version earlier than this. You can check by opening Printers & Scanners, selecting the MP600 and then clicking on Options & Supplies. With the General tab selected you will see the driver version.
Now even if you do have the latest version there is no guarantee that it will be compatible with all applications on 10.9, especially the CS5 suite. You could try installing Gutenprint v5.2.9 to get a driver more compatible with the latest OS. Or if colour management is a requirement for Photoshop printing then you may need to purchase Printfab, although since you are using an MP600 then I would assume that you are not overly concerned with colour accuracy. Another option is to export the image from Photoshop as a PDF and then open this in Preview and print from that application.

Nous avons déjà parlé de ce sujet et j'ai tout réinstallé et ça fonctionne en partie mais tu verras que certaines fonctions d'impression ne fonctionne plus : le recto-verso avec certain logiciel (pas tous). Par exemple, essayes d'imprimer dans "note". Tu verras qu'il y a des fonctions barrées et il est indiqué cela : "cette extension de zone de dialogue d'impression n'a pas pu être chargée car elle n'a pas été mise à jour pour s'exécuter dans l'environnement sécurisée de cette application ; contacter le fournisseur de l'imprimante indiqué ici pour obtenir une version à jour". Bizarrement, je n'ai pas de problème avec Safari pour imprimer en recto verso mais je ne peux pas le faire avec "Aperçu" ou "contacts". Je te laisse regarder, tu verras.
Quant au bouton commandable qui se trouvent sur l'imprimante, ils ne fonctionnent pas tous (les 2 gros ronds en bas et à droite) ne permettent plus de scanner directement en les choississant (couleur ou noir et blanc). Il faut obligatoirement ouvrir le navigator MP pour scanner. Dommage !

Help Sharing A Canon MP600 With 10.5 and XP

I've got an iMac running 10.5.5 and 2 PCs running XP Pro. I'm using a wireless modem (2Wire that uses AT&T DSL). The iMac connects to via a wireless connection.
My printer, an Canon MP600 is hooked up to the iMac via a usb cable. I can print from the iMac without problems.
I want to share this printer with my PCs. I've got sharing enabled on the Mac and can see the MP600 listed as a printer on my PC when I browse for a network printer. After selecting the printer in XP, however, I get an error message that says: "The server for the printer does have the correct printer driver installed".
I downloaded and installed the driver to the iMac directly from Canon's web site.
If I try to print from my PCs, the PC acts as if the print job was completed successfully, but the document never shows up on the iMac's que and no document is printed.
Is there a solution for this?

I was having a similar issue with my HP Officejet 6210 connected via USB to my iMac. I installed bonjour on the networked Win XP laptop and ran the Bonjour Printer Wizard, but it only came up with the generic/postscript printer options which did not work. I had to run the Windows Add a New Printer wizard, select local printer, manually configure the port to:
http://**.local:631/printers/HPOfficejet_6200series (** represents the iMac hostname)
and then select the Apple Color LW 12/660 PS driver that was not shown in the Bonjour wizard. You may also have configure the port to use your Mac OS login and password.
I am not sure why I had to do it this way, hopefully this will help people having issues with Bonjour.
Print speed from the XP laptop does seem to be reduced somewhat. Anyway to correct this? Or is this a result of using the http port?

Windows 7 RC installation on MacBook Pro: 'DVD drive device driver missing'

I'm trying to install the Windows 7 RC on my unibody MacBook Pro (purchased november 2008). I create the partition in Boot Camp, insert the install DVD, and restart the system. Then the Windows setup starts as it's supposed to (Windows is loading files). The install program launches fine, and I get to choose language settings.
And now it all fails. After I've chosen language settings, I get the message: "A required CD(DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."

I'm kinda baffled by this message. Obviously the drive can be use by the install program, but it still complains of a missing driver. I had no trouble installing the Windows 7 beta earlier this year.
I've done some googling, and it appears to be problem experienced by some others. Someone had the issue on an Asus machine (I think), and the solution was to download the driver and out it on a USB stick. But I can't seem to find the driver for the MBP DVD drive anywhere.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

After countless days trying to solve this problem, I feel I can now add to the few solutions presented on the various forums of the internet. I'll post here because 1: i'm a mac user for everyday life although like most have as many pc's as well. 2: I already have a login for these forums!
okay so i tried everything from re-burns to usb install (which I could not complete because removable drives are not recognized by xp and I don't have a vista system). The problem for me ended up being because the DVD drive was plugged into the primary master ide channel. My hard drive for the unit i was installing windows on is sata and was configured as such (not bridged into IDE channel by bios). So in a nutshell it seems like the hard drive and the DVD drive are nit picky in regards to the IDE configuration of the drives themselves. This won't help for virtualization on a mac pro I realize but nonetheless is food for thought hopefully for all the people searching for " windows 7 install cd/dvd device driver missing " in their search engine!
Oh boy one more reason to love mac's
