Canon MP970: Degrading Performance, Through PC. HELP

This one has me pulling my hair out.
My wife & I have a set up of an XP PC & iMAC dual core in room.
We have the MP970 network printer, set up on our wireless network in room.
Canon is very specific on how you have to do this to work with 2 CPUs, & we have followed the rules.
For months it seemed to work withour problems.
The PC is the primary (first) installation for the printer.
The Mac is second.
Scanning works great, & it the printer shows up in all dialogue boxes, etc on my MAC (w/ MAC address behind the name).
PROBLEM: Lately when printing from iphoto, the dialogue box opens but it spools forever & does not print. OR worse yet, it prints some, slows down & then just STOPS. spitting out the top 10% of the picture.
HINT?: Ill have jobs "in process" that go no where, then reboot my Mac & 4 old jobs suddenly print out on reboot.
What gives & ANY ideas on how to fix this?
Ive gone into my router & ensured the printers mac address has priority QoS over any other transmissions. ANY HELP is appreciated.

In reading your post I have a couple of questions about the network setup.
The first is you mention "Canon is very specific on how you have to do this to work with 2 CPUs...". Because the MP970 has built-in Ethernet and Wireless, then you can just connect your Mac directly to it, regardless of the number of other computers connecting to it. I would be curious to hear what they told you...
Also, you mention the PC is the primary and the Mac is second. What do you mean by this. As far as the machine is concerned, there is no order of connection, so are you referring to your own network?
Sorry for the quiz, but just trying to get a better understanding of your network and possible causes for the performance issues you are experiencing...

Broken Bonjour with Canon MF4350d after 10.6 upgrade - Help Please.

I have been using a Canon 4350d with no problems with 10.5.8 - including Printer Sharing (Bonjour). Now, after updating to 10.6 (now 10.6.2) I can still print fine, but I have lost all Printer Sharing. All settings appear to be right, and my other macs appear to be printing through the one connected via USB to the printer, but it never goes through. HELP Please. Thank you.

According to the UFR2 User Guide on page 2-8, the driver can be removed from the Mac by trashing the following folders. Note that you should delete the print queue first, by opening Print & Fax, selecting the MF model in the Printers list and pressing the minus button.
System Volume > Library > Printers > Canon > UFR2
System Volume > Library > Launch Agents > jp.co.canon.UFR2.BG.plist
System Volume > Library > Printers > PPDs > Contents > Resources > en.lproj > CNTD**Z*2.ppd.gz
(where * indicates the printer model and 2 indicates the language of driver used)
With these files removed you can then empty the trash, although you may have to open Activity Monitor and stop the 'UFR II Backgrounder' service before you are able to remove all the files from the trash.
With the v2.10 driver removed you are ready to add another driver. However you need to be aware that the v1.80 driver cannot be used on 10.6. If you were using it previously then it would suggest that the 10.6 Mac was an upgrade from 10.5 rather than a clean 10.6 install. On a clean 10.6 Mac, then v1.80 driver will not operate correctly.
What you may be able to do is have the v1.80 driver installed on a Mac running Leopard and shared. You may then be able to use the v2.10 driver on the Snow Leopard Mac's to print to the Leopard share using the v1.80 driver. Note that I haven't tried this so I cannot say if this will work for you. Personally I always ensure I get a printer with Ethernet or wireless support so that I can avoid printer sharing...

Win XP does not print via Canon MP970 via Airport Extreme

OK, I bought a Canon MP970 printer and hooked it up to the airport extreme, changed all of the ports to 10.0.1.1 on my XP, shared the printer, ran Bonjour, ran airport utility, and everything I know how to do. I can print from my Powerbook G4 and from a new black macbook that I just bought on my network. Problem is I cannot print from my windows XP PC. Very frustrating. It did work fine with my HP printer; that is print from my laptops AND my PC desktop via airport extreme. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK, I kept working at it and seemed to have fixed the problem. I finally just redirected the port to a local one "9101"and not the 10.0.1.1 and began working. I am not sure what I did definitively to make it work. And I just installed the latest printer drivers into my PB G4 and new blackbook and worked. I really just need to trash the PC and go with Apple but you know.......wife.....$$$$$, etc....

Standard transaction CG02 is not saving the data through F4 help.

So for i can able to maintain data in two ways either directly or through F4 help. when i supply data through F4 help, on the F4 help window im providing the value and clicking on continue button. when i press on the contine button it has to update the Derived C-Alpha code if all the required fields filled. If suppose i do nt fill the required fileds it has to through the error message on the status bar like 'Invalid Data Combination'. Now the problem is when i clicking on continue button of F4 help window im displaying error message. when i try to change the value or try to fill the required fields so for im clicking on F4 button then its directly taking me out from the transaction. If i press on any key also samething is happening but the same is not happening when i supplied the value directly and saving. Please let me know the reason and help me for the same with needful solution. If anyting required plz ask me i wil provide u.
Here we are using the user-exit EXIT_SAPLC107_001 and is used in FM C107_CUSTOMER_FUNCTION_CALL.

Value is not populating in field through search help f4

Multi select prompt degrade performance ?

I want to know is multiselect prompt degrade performance in OBIEE 10G ?

If I select 1user in prompt then report will run for 1 user...
if 2 (multi users) then will run report for multi users and do the calculation etc...
am i right..?
then it should degrade the performance..

Elements 10 for MAC cannot print 8x10 on Canon mp970?

Elements 10 for MAC cannot print 8x10 photos on a Canon MP970 printer . I get a box that says can only print at 220 resolution. What should I do?

That's not quite what it's saying. It's tell you that at the physical size you chose (presumably 8 x10) your photo has fewer than 220 pixels per inch. So you can print 8 x 10 but the quality may not be first rate, since the original image just doesn't have enough pixels in it to print at that size with more pixel density.

Degraded performance.

Has anyone noticed degraded performance when enabling 802.11n with support for G? The reason for asking is all my wireless workstations are running 802.11n with the exception of my iPhone. I also want to get a wireless all-in-one printer/scanner which I can only find support for B/G wireless networks, not 802.11n. Can anyone recommend an all-in-one printer/scanner that supports 802.11n for use with Apple's AEBS router?

That would be "normal" as the best you can expect in a mixed radio mode is 100 - 130 Mbps for your "n" devices. If you want to take advantage of "n" speed, you would either need to set up a "Dual-Band" network or remove any non-"n" devices from your current network.

Export backup degrades performance?

Please suggest me if i take export backup of the database does it degrades performance of the database when the applications are connected?
Can this export be done while application is using the database?
Is there any risk concerning performance of the application during DB export?

An export is a query against the database. Generally, a query to extract the whole schema or whole table (or whole database). It has the same performance impact as any query doing FullTableScans against the tables being exported.
Note :If you do an export using 'exp', ensure that you use "CONSISTENT=Y" or "FLASHBACK_SCN" or "FLASBACK_TIME" to get consistency across tables, else exp does Table-level consistency.
With 'expdp' you can use FLASHBACK_SCN or FLASHBACK_TIME

Will more number of waiting threads in thread pool degrade performance?

I use thread pool and set the maximum number of threads to execute. My problem is, the thread pool initiates the number of threads and these threads wait until they get a work. Will this degrade the performance (The threads do I/O operations) ??

Threads waiting for work will not degrade performance. If your work involves those threads waiting for I/O then that in itself will not degrade performance either (as long as they block and don't poll of course).
All live threads consume resources however so if you are short on threads or memory then don't create too many of them.
Pre-starting a large number of threads in a pool can cause a startup delay of course. Generally you should let the pool create threads as needed until it gets to the core pool size.

hi all
in alv grid output there is a input enabled field say xyz, this field is given f4 help by creating ztable, and when f4 is pressed on xyz field, it is fetching all the data related to that field, but the user wants restricted value with respect to company code and land1.
how to restrict the value coming in through F4 help ???

check the name of the USER_COMMANG.Based on User command there will be one FORM ......... ENDFORM .
In that there will be selection statement to internal table by which you are getting F4 help.Put the condition WHERE company code eq and land1 eq.
