Canon MT-24X; for use outside a Fotoflex light cube for product shots?

About Canon MT-24X macro twin flash unit.

I use a light cube with 32" in. from Fotoflex (LINK REMOVED - SEE FORUM GUIDELINES ON POSTING LINKS TO 3RD PARTY SITES)
to shot some objects.
Will I be able to use the MT-24X flashes away from camera with table tripods and put them on each side of the cube to filter the light and most important are the flashes strong enough for such a distance? What´s you opinion as a users?

Can I use this twin flashes away from the camera in a wireless mode with some kind of additional wireless unit?

I thought about using just the MT-24X for regular macro shots but also with the cube. But it seems not possible.
Now. seeking for a solution I need confirmation on a different setup that is:
I think the MT-24X can be used as a master>slave set with another Canon flash (don´t know yet if all if some of the Canon flashes). You as owner must know about this wireless comunication capabilities.
Imagine a scenario with a still life object inside my cube.
That way I would be able to use the MT-24X mounted as it should be, in front of the cube to make the shot and use an additional (one or two) wireless Canon flashes standing at the sides of the cube.
Two kinds of light: direct from the macro flashes (front) and diffused by the cube from the sides.
I don´t know if I´ll need 4 flashes but would like to know if this is a working possibility.

Color Consistency For Product Shots
I'm doing product shots for my wife's eBay sideline.
The problem I'm having is that I will take multiple shots of an item, and despite my best intentions the color will be slightly different in each shot (enough so that when placed side-by-side on a web page, it's clearly and amateurishly different).
Here's some details about what I'm doing:
I'm usually shooting in front of a large window so it's mostly natural light. Sometimes I'll use an overhead flash, but if I do, I do so for all shots. It's not like some shots include flash and some don't. So the lighting should be consistent.
I'm usually shooting against a full white background (or full black)
My white balance is set to Auto
My exposure is manual
I'll usually try to start the shoot with a shot of a gray card. Then in Lightroom, I'll set the white balance for that shot by sampling the gray, and then copy/paste that white balance develop setting to all other shots.
So other than perhaps the Auto WB setting, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong in the shooting to get different colors.
But that aside, this seems like something that should be fixable in LR, but despite copying the WB setting, I can't figure that out either.
What I would really like to be able to do is use the eyedropper tool on Image 1, then sample what should be the same color (but isn't) on Image 2 and say "LR, do whatever you need to in order to make the sampled color in Image 2 the same color as the sampled color in Image 1".Gray cards (unless designed specifically to be so) are exposure guides, not color temperature guides. A white balance target would do you a better job.
The gray card is from Scott Kelby's Lightroom book, and he specifically mentions using it for color correction (actually, the technique for copy/pasting the WB settings gathered from the card is from his book, too).
Also, in the Lightroom manual, it says "Move the White Balance Selector into an area of the photo that should be a neutral light gray. Avoid spectral highlights or areas that are 100% white."
It is the color of the background that varies that gives it away in a grid of images.
When I get home, I'll try to attach some sample images. But in general, the backgrounds are pretty consistently solid white - it's the coloring on the product that's different. Depending on my time and how expensive the item is, I'll use Photoshop to ensure the background is 100% white.
Without a constant light source (window light changes over the course of time) you really can't depend upon copying and pasting the settings.
Yeah, I know. I'm trying to convince my wife to use her eBay profits to buy me a properly lit mini-studio, but until then, I'm stuck with what I have (referring to the situation, not my wife!). But also, the shots are usually within a few seconds of each other - it's not like the light is changing that much, at least not enough to account for the differences.
I have a feeling that it might actually have to do more with exposure. Like the color balance might be OK, but one shot is just underexposed and so the colors appear darker. But you'd think that the LR exposure controls would be able to do that, but so far I just can't get it dialed in. -

May I ask why? In that sense it has no relevence.
Conicial is a suggestive meta for search engines like google, not a directive, they can choose to ignore it. The goal of conical in a product sense for eCommerce is if you have a product under multiple catalogs and thus multiple URLs. You apply this to the one url you want to inform search engines is the prefered one to use and rank on.
With your implementation this adds it to all possible links thus non relevent.
If it is to suggest in terms of the development url - site.businesscatalyst.com (or branded site url) then not useful either. All you do for this is go to the development url in the doman manager, edit and click the new tick box that does a perminant redirect of all those URLS.

That is fine but you are using all your custom fields up and have repitition, it is better to just use one custom field and have it as all the description so you can say differently for each product and easily managed via the spreadsheet import / export.

I added a dataset to an existing report and broke an aggregation. In the old (i.e. single dataset) report, this expression below worked fine. I wanted to get a distinct count of the vst_ext_id field when my educated field was like "VTE1*"

After adding a new dataset, this no longer works and I get the error " A scope is required for all aggregates used outside of a data region unless the report contains exactly one dataset". Having done some research online, I found that I

I just happened upon this particular syntax searching online. I was trying to specify the dataset name after each .value, but I never got that to work. This is the only time I have found this particular syntax online. -
I have Photoshop Eleent 12 and use a Windows PC. I hae been using a Canon EOS 50D for several years, which uses a Compact Flash Card. I have always downloaded pictures by using a card reader wich I connect to my computer. I Go to the Organizer, click on "Import" and select "From camera or card reader". Once on the Photo Downloader, I select the pictures, chose the folder and click on "Get Media" and all the photos get downloaded. Today I folled the same procedure as always, but ZI'm gettig an error message that reads"Import Failed" followed by another message that reads "Nothing was imported. The file(s) or folder(s) selected to import did not contain any supported file types, or the files are already in this Catalog." I'm puzzled by this message and don't know what to do o get my photos. Any suggestions?
The organizer doesn't care where you send your photos when you download them via the downloader or where they happen to be when you first bring them in if you use the Get Photos command, but once your pics are in the Organizer, you *must* move them from within organizer or it can't find them. You don't have to use My Pictures at all if you don't want to, but regardless of the folder where you put your photos, if you want them someplace else, you use organizer to do it.

The terms and conditons page for El Salvador and that for Spain seems to be the same. The problem is that for Spain it forbides the use outside El Salvador!:

Go to Solution.Nevermind, just, sort of answered my own question. Doesn't work on XP, but using a Win 7 'puter I was able to use Shutter Count, which now works w/ the 7D Mark II.

Thanks Michael. Apologies for the slow reply I was away for a bit (holiday blitz at work and visiting family madness etc.etc.) back now, I set both options you requested to "never " and retried the CMS software with no change.
I do have progress of a sort though, as a test I took a separate test PC and put a clean install of Win7 on and loaded up the CMS software (it worked perfectly) and then took the version of ole32.dll off that machine and put it onto the computer I had built
for her (using Linux) and...
got a new error code. Darn I was so sure I had found a clever solution this time lol.
Anyway now when the CMS fails it gives me a similar error but the offending module is "ntdll.dll" sooo... I tried taking the "working" version of ntdll.dll from the test box and moving it over (making sure to back up the existing ones
first so I could put them back if needed) to her new PC and the PC would not boot.
It seems to want the original versions of a few Dynamic Link Libraries and if I could somehow give it those while not breaking Win7 it should theoretically work seeing as it no longer errors with ole32.dll.
ntdll.dll however seems necessary for Win7 to boot.
So what I am wondering now is:
Is there some way to have both versions of the DLL file in the system32 folder (bypassing the "cannot have two files with the exact same name in the same folder" thing) or rename the original DLL's something else and somehow make the CMS look for
the new named versions so the system has the updated DLL's it needs to boot/run and the CMS has the old ones it wants to run or is there someway to have a self contained install of the CMS, say on a USB flash drive and give it it's own E:/windows/system32/needed
dll's path to the files it needs?
Willing to try any other options or settings you may have come up with as well.

The fact that they have 2 versions of ACR means that initial support for the D800 was added in 6.7 but that complete support was finalized in 7.1 (the 4.1 in the chart is for Lightroom)
I'm not sure that this means there are missing features, but rather refinements and optimized settings were added in 7.1
However, ACR 7.1 requires CS6.
As Dag mentioned, you can also use the latest version of DNG Converter to convert the D800 files to DNGs which will be able to be opened in older versions of ACR.
The DNG converter only works on folders of files, not individual files. So just select the folder and convert. All the files in the folder will be converted. -
Error: "Variable State has been used outside the reusable components"
When I open a query in the ad hoc query designer I get several error messages like "Variable State has been used outside the reusable components." I don't what this means or how to fix it.
"State" is one of the variables used. And there is a error for every variable that is used.
All the variables are in the free characteristics.
When I open the query in Query Designer, it is ok.

I am a graphic designer with a lot of experience in the studio but I now find myself needing to do my own product shots in my home studio space of 12' x 12.' I am looking hard at the Canon 7D moving up from 40D and I need to know the best lens or lenses to shoot items such as rifles, glassware, china, and small housewares, etc. I will also need to purchase either soft boxes or umbrellas and am looking for advise on this issue as well. Photos will be used for e-commerce and possibly for catalogs. All comments appreciated!

This is not an easy question that can be answered with a short reply, but here there are some items you might find helpful:
LENSES:
Considering the 1.6x crop factor of your EOS 7D, I think a Canon 50mm 1.4 USM should be fine for many of your shots, assuming you have enough space in your room and the item is not too large, otherwise you should go wider to EF 35mm f/2.0 IS USM or the more expensive EF 35mm f/1.4L USM
Of course, if you want a wider range of focal lengths to work with and lot more versatility, then you might want a Caon EF 24-70 2.8L II USM (our favorite) which has excellent sharpness and IQ, but it's more expensive. It's not so "fast" compared to the above, but in studio conditions you'll probably won't use faster apertures than f/2.8 or f/4
The advantage of these lenses compared to EF-S ones, is that if you switch to a full frame camera in future, you will be able to use them as well without any issues. Good investments in our opinion.

These are some cheap but very nice built quality stands & accessories that won't hurt your budget:

Of course there are lot of other options, but these ones have worked pretty good for us, considering their price.
You can also attach softbox, etc.

I have a MacBook Pro running 10.7.2. I am trying to import photos from my older Canon EOS-1D for the first time since my OS upgrade. iPhoto does not see the camera nor does Image Capture. IC says there is not a camera connected. Cable is known good. Has something changed? Thanks!
If neither iPhoto not IC can seethe card it might suggest an issue with the card or the ports on the camera/mac.
Try reformat the card, change the ports and/or use a USB Card Reader.
