Canon MX 700 printer Not functioning

I can not get the printer to work.  With the power on, the only thing is led is the on/off button, nothing else and no sound.  Basically it is froze.  Do you have any procedure to rest the printer.
Thanks

Hello Primas2000,
Try the following steps below:
Turn the printer off with the Power button.
Disconnect the data cable from the printer.
Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in.
Turn the printer back on.

canon pixma mx850 printer not reading my computer - will not print
I unplugged the cord that went from the printer to the computer to another canon printer to see if I could remediate a problem with a wireless printer.
When I plugged the computer cord back into the usual computer, the printer is no longer talking to the computer even though I have gone in and changed back the settings, and it has been the default printer - that was not changed.
I've tried all the trouble-shooting suggestions to no avail.

    Hi scheideckerj,
Reinstalling the latest drivers for the printer from the Canon USA website may resolve the issue you are experiencing.   Please click here to go to the Drivers and Software page for the PIXMA MX850.  Once on the download page, please do the following:
    1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system.
    2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "DRIVERS" section and click on the MP DRIVERS file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Please click on the checkbox below the DOWNLOAD button, then click the red DOWNLOAD button to begin the download. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.
Once the file is downloaded, please double-click on it to reinstall the printer drivers on your computer.
    Hope this helps!

  • Canon MP 600 Printer not working after Leopard Install

I installed the Leopard OS and now my Canon MP 600 printer that purchased at the MAC store with my Mac in Aug of this year. It was working properly prior to the Leopard install. I tried re-installing the printer drivers, but no change. I can see my MP 600 as the only printer available. I am also unable to even print a 'test' page. When I run the Network Diagnostics everything is fine, but no printing.
    Any suggestions?

I tried this. I also tried updating the CUPS config file as was noted elsewhere. The printer is a total no-show on Leopard.
It is being served by an older G4 whose only job is to serve the printer.
On Tiger it would just *be there* to print to. All the Panther computers see it as a "shared printer" in the printer box.
In Leopard.... not a &^^&% thing.
    Not happy.

Are you using a gimp driver? I had the same issue and gimp was the cause. I went to the Canon website and found the driver I needed. After the install and restart all was well. In fact, when I opened Print Utility, I saw that the system had already defaulted to the new Canon driver. Here's the Canon link...

  • Canon ImagePROGRAF 6350 PRINTER NOT CONNECTED ERROR

My Canon ImagePROGRAF 6350 is connected via USB to my iMac; however, I am still getting a PRINTER NOT CONNECTED ERROR. How do I fix this?

We updated two computers on our network to 10.6.8 (from 10.5) and another (PPC iMac) to 10.5 (from 10.4). In each case, I had to first remove the printer from Print/Fax, then reinstall from the original CD, and then update to latest drivers, and then the printer worked fine. This was for a Canon 8210 Print and Scan multifunction device, so I was inferring that Canon drivers/software need to be reinstalled when updating to later versions of the OS. Hence my recommendation. The Canon website shows drivers for your device for both 10.6 and 10.7, so it appears to be usable under the latest Mac OS. It seems that if you can start from as close to "scatch" as you can and then reinstall (much as if you got the printer brand new), you have a better chance. This might involve "uninstalling" by hand if need be, to remove vestiges of the previously installed stuff.

  • Why is my Canon IPF 5100 printer not working on my new iMac intel

I just purchased a new iMac and within a few days, my IPF 5100 printer stopped working. I contacted Canon's service department and
they had no idea how to fix the problem. They said it was most likely a USB port problem. They mentioned that this problem was
occurring more and more often with the iMac's.
Well, the customer service person from Canon said they would call me back, and I haven't heard from them yet.
Hello Canon and Macintosh, my printer plays an important part in my photography business.
    What's up!
Anyone else with a IPF 5100 having this problem?
    Greg

Are you sure it's an IPF 5100, if so it's not supported by Snow Leopard per:

  • HP laserjet M1120n MFP printer not functioning properly with Lion

After installing this printer it will scan but with some flaws in the scanned image and it will not print at all.
All that it displays is that there is an error after attempting to print. I'm wondering if there is some special driver that I need?
The printer is about 4yrs old.
    Thank you

Your printer should be supported in Lion. Check to make sure you have the latest drivers installed. Make sure the driver for it is selected in the printer list.
You might try deleting the printer and reading it once the latest driver and software is installed.

  • Canon ip5200r wifi printing not working

I have an old ip5200r canon printer.
It's been a pain over the years - each time i update my operating system i have had to update the drivers and fiddle around to get it to connect to my mac via wifi. USB printing is fine and always works.
With 10.10 however I am totally stumped. I have managed to connect the printer to the network, and the printers and scanners system preferences can see the printer and it tells me it is installed, but I am unable to print.
My partner often uses the printer and constantly complains about walking around the house and plugging  a USB cable in. It should be so easy, I am unsure why canon make it so hard.
I was wondering if anyone could offer any possible insight or recommendation?

If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.

  • "Add Printer" not functioning

    Hello-
I've been experiencing a weird problem within my Printer Setup Utility. When i click the "Add +" icon to add a printer to my queue(sp?), nothing happens... nothing.
I first tried it with a laser printer connected vis ethernet to my wireless Belkin router. Nothing happened when I tried to add it via the Setup Utility, but I was able to add through the print dialogue box under Rendeveaux Printers.
My current problem is with my USB-connected Epson C88+, just purchased new today (it's currently working perfectly through my fiance's powerbook). I've installed the driver, restarted, even ran Disk Utility to check if anything crazy was going on (there were alot of incorrect permissions with an /EPSON in the file name).
The Printer Setup Utility is still unresponsive when I click the Add icon, well technically the only response I get is the on-click dimming of the icon. But that is it.
Does anyone have any advice to remedy the situation?
    thanks,
    Chris
PS- I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.1... with a recently replaced HD.

I have been having exactly the same problem as CJenksus. The Printer Setup Utility's Add function sees my AppleTalk printer, but when I select the printer and click the Add button, nothing happens. Like CJenksus, I have no "Reset Printing System" menu command, above "Quit Printer Setup Utility" or anywhere else. The Printer Setup Utility's "About" box shows version 3.0, copyright 1999-2003. Is there a newer version available, and where can I get it? Or is there something else I can do to get it to add my printer?

  • Canon Pixma MP460 printer doesn't function with Mavericks

I upgraded my MacBook Pro to Mavericks over the weekend, and discovered this morning that my printer (Canon Pixma MP460) is not functioning with the new OS. I haven't been able to find software or driver updates on either the Canon or Apple sites to fix this problem, and urgently need access to the printer and scanner functions. I was able to upgrade via the Canon website in the past (e.g., when I upgraded to Lion), but am having no luck this time. I also haven't been able to set up the printer for wireless printing on our network since the previous OS upgrade. Any suggestions for either or both problems?

Great news!!!!  I just installed OSX Yosemite and the new OS works with my HP 4070 Scanner.  Seams like the solved the problem.  Saves in PDF, JPG, and I suppose in it will work in other formats as well. I am guessing it will work with other brands, like Canon, etc.
Problem solved!!! Just wait for the new OS or download the Beta version that is open to non developers.

  • Canon MP 700 - problems printing from Leopard

I have a Canon MP 700 printer and was using it happily until I upgraded to Leopard. I visited a whole bunch of forums in search of a solution and tried to "trick" my MacBook into printing by attempting to piggy back ride on other Canon drivers, but nothing works. Most drivers don't work because there is no communication between my MacBook and the printer, it just gives me an error message. When using the Canon PIXMA MP780 - Gutenprint v.5.1.3 there is communication between the two as the job is transmitted and processed, but the image quality is very poor (the colors are off, mostly yellow and red lines instead of a complete picture). Does anybody know if Canon or Apple are coming out with a Leopard compatible driver for the MP 700? I would really like to avoid having to buy a new printer.
Thanks for any and all advice you may have. With gratitude - Anna

Looking at the Canon Australia web site, there is no printer driver for Mac OS X, let alone for 10.5. So it looks like you will have to persevere with Gutenprint or you could purchase PrintFab (www.printfab.net) which does list the MP700 as a supported printer.

  • My Canon MX 922 does not scan. My printer is connected via cable. Wireless doesn't work either.

My Canon MX 922 does not scan. My printer is connected via cable. Wireless doesn't work either.  I get an error message with multiple suggestions but none of them apply to my situation.
I am so dissatisfied with this printer.  I'm sorry I got it from Amazon because now it is a hassle to return it.  I will never buy another Canon.
The printer menus are confusing.  I hate using it.  I loved my previous Canon which finally stopped working after many years, that's why I purchased a newer Canon model.  Never again.  Stick with cameras.

This note won't be as angry and frustrated as the last one...
Because I still had my old printer drivers and other applications on my hard drive, I think the application was trying to connect with the old printer.  I deleted all the old stuff.
I also had several scanning applications on my drive which just confused me.
When I used the actual Canon MX922 application, I was able to scan but could only save as JPG, TIF or BMP (and one more, I forget which).  So I did some research on the Canon site and found out how to save documents as PDF files using the Canon IJ Scan Utility.
It works now.  So I'm satisfied, will keep this maching.  I just had to take some time, sit down and focus on the problem.
