Canon MX700 Multifunction Printer

After SL install my MX700 prints just fine, but the scanner is not recognized. SL keeps telling me to select a scanner, but I can't. Is there another software update from Canon I need? This is NOT a network printer and is connected via USB.

If you open Print & Fax and select the MX700 in the left pane, on the right pane there should be Print and Scan button next to each other at the top of that pane. Do you see both or only the Print button?

  • Problems with adding Canon MG5320 Multifunction Printer?

I just got a new Canon MG5320 Multifunction Printer. When I try to install the usb driver with the included CD, I am sucessful until step three where it prompts to connect the usb cable and turn it on.
The next button is clickable until I turn on the printer. When I turn it on, a window comes up saying "Do you want to install the driver for the Canon MG5320." If you say yes, it says that it is downloading and installing it, but when it is done, it says Apple doesn't have the driver.
If I press the next button without ever turning it on, it say that it is that the driver was installed sucessfully, but if I go to System Preferences Printers > Add new printer, I select the printer and it says that Apple has the driver, but again when it is done, it says Apple doesn't have the driver.
Please help, I need this done in less than a week for collage.

Install the driver from the link I gave you. Connect the printer to the Mac with the usb cable. Turn on the printer. System Preferences>Print & Fax>Add a Printer.

  • MacBook running OSX 10.9.2 - Canon MX860 multifunction printer won't connect to wireless network

At the same time I upgraded to OSX 10.9.2, my wireless modem/router died and I had to replace it.  Don't know which (or both) caused the problem, but I can't get my Canon MX860 multifunction printer back on the wifi network.  Has anyone solved this problem?

I thought I would let you all know how I ended up fixing the issue on my system.
I noticed that after some time the 'ping' would stop responding and I would have to reset the printer in order to get the ping responses again. This seemed more like a network strangness than an actual printer issue.
So I connected to my AirPort Extreme to see if it was missing any software updates (it was not) and in the process I ended up making a couple of changes that I don't believe could be the cause of my issue, but any change made requires the device to reboot. After this, I was then able to add my printer.
Everyone should also note that after you click on the + to Add a printer, it will take some time before the printer shows up in the Default section. So make sure you wait at least a couple of minutes for it to show up.
So even though you may think the printer is actually on the network like I did (I could even put the IP address into Safari and access the printer configuration), it may still be a wireless network issue and not an actual issue with the printer or OSX 10.9.2 or the printer drivers.
Hope that helps others having this same issue.

  • I have a canon MX7600 multifunction printer. My security setting allow connection with the printer. If I disable the firewall it works fine. If the firewall is running I get a dialog box every time I print asking for permission. How do I fix this?

I have a canon MX 7600 multifunction printer. Each  time I print I get a dialog box asking for permission to allow connections to the printer. This box stays on my screen for a few seconds, if I don't click allow I get a communication error which then requires me to delete the job and start over. I contacted Canon and proceeded with their suggestions to no avail. They now say it is an Apple issue. My security settings are set to allow connection to the canon printer. If I disable the firewall it works fine, once I enable the firewall the problem returns.  This issue is a royal pain. Any suggestions on how to fix it short of buying a new printer?

  • Getting Canon MX700 to print is worse than ever

    Questions:
When I download drivers and software for the printers, they stay in the Downloads Folder. Should they be stashed somewhere else or do they automatically get put somewhere? I am starting over and will need to download MX700 drivers again.
My iMAC was not recognizing the location of the printer most of the time, yet sometimes it did. I have a solid USB connection and have printed thru that. Yet I have had trouble getting the IJ Netwrok Utility to work. (When OS X was 10.5.3, I did have the printer networked and printed by ethernet connections, but I often got an Error Number 306 which seemed to mean the computer was not finding the printer.) Now, the OS X ver 10.5.4 is operating and the computer just doesn't see the printer.
I think I need to start by trashing all the canon files... I've dragged driver files to the trash and emptied it. Is that all I need to do to "uninstall" drivers and printer/scan/fax software.
I think I upgraded the firmware successfully, but how can I tell for sure? And is that firmware that gets loaded onto the printer???
Getting re-started here. ( I switched from Windows XP platform a few weeks ago and am getting used to the OS X environment. Currently working on Leopard 10.5.4)
    Thanks for your help.

Most packages that you download have installers which copy the included files into the appropriate places. This is the case with the Canon printer driver. Once you have run the installer you can leave the downloaded package where it is, or trash it if you are short on space. No reference is made to these files during operation.

The IJ utility is for configuring the printer. Once it has been configured, you don't need to use it again to connect to the printer. This is done via the More Printers > Canon IJ Network. With this window open, the printer should appear in the list showing its Ethernet (MAC) address. If the printer is connected via Ethernet to a hub/switch and you are connected to the same device, then try pinging the printer if the Canon IJ Network view doesn't show the printer. If you get a response then at least you know that the Mac and MX700 can 'see' each other. So, this would indicate something is amiss with the driver and trashing it is a good next step.

Pretty much. You can delete the contents of the BJPrinters folder located in ./Library/Printers/Canon. You also can delete the Canon MX700 xx.pkg file located in ./Library/Receipts.
With these files trashed you can then install the latest version, which looking at the Canon AU web site, is v6.9.3.
I think I upgraded the firmware successfully, but how can I tell for sure? And is that firmware that gets loaded onto the printer???
The install is not a firmware upgrade. It is software that is used by your Mac for printing and scanning. You will not be able to determine the version you have easily until you manage to add the printer. I suggest that you add the MX700 first as a direct USB connection, since you know that works. This will show you the driver version. Confirm that it is v6.9.3. If it is, then you know you are using the latest version which should work fine on 10.5.4.
The last step is to try adding it as a network printer again. Open the Print & Fax utility and select to Add. Then select More Printers > Canon IJ Network. The MX700 should appear in this view. If so, you can select it to complete the installation.
If the printer is still not seen, can you confirm how it is connected to your network and how your Mac is connected to this same network.
Also, if you are using TCP/IP for your communication, please reply with the ip address of your Mac and the MX.

  • Canon MX850 Multifunction Printer.

    Hi,
I have just purchased an iMAC and have been trying to add a Canon MX850 Printer without any luck.
I have downloaded and installed the latest Canon drivers, however when I try to add the printer all that I can see is a Fax printer identified as Bluetooth DUN.
I have power cycled the iMAC and have connected the printer after powering up the iMAC without any success. Has anyone managed to install one of these printers?

    Hi,
In answer to your question - stupidly, I have just realised that there are two USP ports on the unit. Now that I am using the correct one, the printer is working.
Although I have had the printer for quite a while, I was unaware that there were two USB B connecters on it. I hope that this hasn't wasted any ones time. Thank you rkaufmann87, your question prompted me to look properly at what I was doing and so answered my original question.

  • TS3147 installed Canon MF4570dw multifunction printer, it prints and copies but scanner not detected. How do you install scanning function?

Downloaded drivers installed MF4500w series. But software and OS does not setect scan function

First of all you need to set the MF scan components online. Press the Scan button and then select Remote.
Then on the Mac, open the MF Toolbox software, which will have been installed when you downloaded and installed the ScanGear v1.51 software, and select one of the buttons like Save. From the next window that appears, change the Original Placement menu to ADF or Platen - depending on where you have loaded the paper - and then press the Scan button. This action should scan the document to your Mac.

  • Canon MX700 Printer problem since upgrade to Lion.

    Hi
Since upgrading to Lion every time I try to print something on my Canon MX700 networked printer I get a communication error. I found that what I have to do to get it to work is to print the document a second time and then delete the first document in the printer queue. This pauses the printer and when it is resumed the second document prints successfully.
Anyone else have this problem or can anyone shed any light on what might be wrong?
    Scanning seems to work OK.
    Many Thanks

you need to upgraded canon MX700 that's support Lion.
you can download updated driver from http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_s eries/pixma_mx700#DriversAndSoftware
But remember, you should trash the BJPrinters folder, located in HD > Library > Printers > Canon. This action to uninstall driver canon MX700 that's installed on your mac

  • Is it possible to change the driver for my canon multifunctional printer?

Hello guys! I've installed my Canon MP160 multifunctional printer to my airport express. I may print from my 4 PC's who is connected to the wireless network. This works great! But I've no scanner possibilities. I would really like to scan as well. Is it possible? Can someone help me, or do I have to connect the printer directly to the PC?
    Regards  PC-N

Hi, I have windows 7 and configured my Canon MP160 printer to my airport express. However, i'm unable to print any documents. The documents just wait in the printing queue. I also have a Mac from where i'm able to print over wifi. On my PC, i have installed MP Navigator 3.0 software. Are there any additional drivers i need to install to make the wireless printing to work?
    Thanks!

  • New Canon Pixma MG2220 printer - install problems on Windows XP

I bought a new Pixma MG2220 printer and received it 2 days ago. I followed the instructions and installed it from the provided CD on my 10 year old Compaq S4020WM desktop computer upgraded with 1GB RAM and 1TB hard drive running Windows XP SP3.
The CD installation took a very long time to complete (maybe an hour or so) and things did not work right. In particular the My Image Garden software was very slow and sluggish to respond. So I downloaded and installed the latest drivers and software from the Canon website on top of the existing installation, which did not help. The My Image Garden software began crashing completely with an error message about a bad .dll file. After talking to Canon tech support on the telephone, the support tech admitted that this software CD was probably not compatible with my old XP computer. The My Image Garden software uses like 500MB RAM which is too much resources for my machine. So the rep had me uninstall My Image Garden.
At that point I decided to uninstall everything and start over from scratch because something was obviously not right. For example, the Canon MP drivers were using 755 MB RAM, which seemed much too large. Obviously things had not installed properly from the setup CD, in general. The date on the setup CD was 2011, so apparently it was 2 years old, and long out of date!?
So I uninstalled everything except the Canon registration and onscreen user manual. I also kept Windows Adobe RGB 1998 because I didn't see any way to uninstall it. I also uninstalled .NET 4 which the setup CD had said was necessary, as well as Microsoft XPS EP which My Image Garden had also told me was needed. Then I cleaned up my computer as well as possible with help of Revouninstaller and Ccleaner, which was necessary because things were very messy with many uninstalled remnants and incorrect registry entries. I feel lucky to have survived those tasks without having to reinstall my op system. It wasn't easy.
Then I installed the following 2 modules (only) downloaded from the Canon website:
    MG2200 series MP Drivers Ver. 1.01 (Windows 8/8...         01/31/13     14.07 MB
    File Name: mp68-win-mg2200-1_01-ejs.exe
This file is a driver for Canon IJ multifunction printers. You can install the following items of the software: MP Drivers: The driver for Canon IJ multifunction printer. IJ Scan Utility: The software that allows you to easily scan photos, documents, etc.
    *My Printer Ver. 3.1.0 (Windows 8/8 x64/7/7 x64/...         01/07/13     5.12 MB
    File Name: mypr-win-3_1_0-ea11_2.exe
This file allows you to easily change the settings such as the paper source settings and provides you with information on how to solve problems such as ink smudging.
I believe that's everything required to access all of the print, copy, and scan operations of this MG2220 printer. Based on my current understanding, I would classify everything else as optional. I use free Irfanview for editing and manipulation of images, which seems a satisfactory substitute for the other software.
I did not reinstall .NET 4 or Microsoft XPS EP, because apparently they're only required if you install the My Image Garden and/or Quick Menu modules. I also did not reinstall the Easy-WebPrint EX module which apparently only applies to printing with the Internet Explorer browser, while I primarily use Firefox, Chrome, or Opera browsers. And of course I did not reinstall My Image Garden nor the Quick Menu, which were so problematical originally.
On the bright side, the Canon MP drivers appeared to install correctly this time, using only 35 MB RAM (vs 755 MB previously). Also the Canon IJ Scan utility was reinstalled automatically as a part of that driver installation process. Those items have their own shortcuts. I found it useful to make one additional shortcut via Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes > "Canon MG2220 series printer", to allow easy access to all of the internal printer settings and variables. Like I said, I believe this is all that's required, in addition to some image manipulation software such as Irfanview. I deal mostly with documents and never print photos nor use cameras. Those who have large photo collections and/or cameras may need something like My Image Garden or Easy-PhotoPrint EX.
I previously used Lexmark printers for the prior 10+ years, where everything is controlled by software from the computer. I never had to use the buttons on the printer. That's obviously different with this Canon printer, which will take some getting used to.
I'm disappointed that there's apparently no way to enlarge or reduce the % copy size with this model. Is there? I also don't find any setting for lighter/darker when making copies. Is there? There are apparently no other enhancements or filters available when copying. Are there? Similarly, scanning seems remarkably unversatile with this model and I can't find any way to set a scan for ligher/darker or apply various enhancements/filters. Are there?
The printing seems OK, but I must still decide whether the very limited copy and scan options will be sufficient to my needs. I'm not sure yet. I might take it back for a refund and get something better, if I knew what was better. That's another research project. Suggestions?
    Thanks for any feedback.

Thanks for your info but the MG5420 is more than twice the cost at my local Walmart and Staples stores.
I thought I was being smart to buy the MG2220 as a later model(?), but it looks like the prior model MG2120 has more copier and scanner features according to the online specs at the Canon website (see copies below).
For example the MG2120 allows 25%-400% reduction/enlargement when copying, while the MG2220 does not. Can you verify this?
Also does the MG2120 allow for setting copying to lighter/darker? (I don't understand that complicated technical lingo in the specs.)
    Thanks.

  • Sharing a Multifunction Printer with Mac & PC

    Hi Everyone,
I have a Canon MP780 Multifunction printer that I want to share the printing and scanning between my Mac Mini and my Windows PC. I was going to buy a print server to use on my network but they do not support multifunction printers. I was hoping to share without having to have both computers on which would be required if I share the printer on my network.
Anyone have a suggestion for a solution?

The Canon MP780, like most "budget" all-in-one printers, is a "personal use only" device designed to connect directly to a Mac or PC USB port. This device is not designed to be shared on a network - and if you do connect it to a network (via either a print server device, or connected to a Mac or PC and then shared) the best you will be able to do is print to it.
If you want to share all functions of a multifunction printer between a PC and a Mac on a network, buy a device designed for this job like the HP PSC Photosmart 2610.

  • Problem Printing to a Canon MX700 Printer

I have a new Macbook Air (love it) and I want to print to my Canon MX700 printer. I have the driver properly installed on the MBA and I can print a test page to the Canon MX700 from the MBA. However, when I send an actual file to the printer, it never goes beyond the status of "spooling" in the print cue. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks much...
    v/r,
    - Collabman

Thank you for the feedback. I should have mentioned my Canon MX700 is installed/connected to a Window XP desktop. The printer is being shared across my network and can be seen/printed to from a Windows laptop on my network so from the windows side, it is good to go.
I deleted the MX700 printer and re-added it by selecting "add printer or scanner." However, the printer only shows via the "windows" view (4th icon), where I can navigate/access it accross my network. I can add it, select the driver and install it just fine.
Still no joy printing an actual job to it though...
    Thanks much...

  • Cannot install Canon MX700 Printer Drivers

I have tried to install from the CDROM that came with the printer, it failed with both the "Easy" and the "Custom" installs, with the error message:
MP Drivers could not be installed. Click [Start Over] to reexecute the installation process. That also fails, and I decided to break out of the infinite loop of starting over again and again by posting this message.
I also tried the suggestions as to how to correct installation problems, such as trying to install with an administrator account, and having no other apps running. These did not work; this is good because this isn't Windows after all.
Furthermore, I downloaded the drivers from the Canon USA site
    http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDeta ilTabAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=15651&kbpage=yes#DownloadDetailAct
but no joy with 6.9.3 nor with the CUPS 10.1.2 either. Both report failure with: The following install step failed: run preflight script for Canon IJ Printer Driver. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. I wondered if I was alone with this problem with OS X 10.5.6?

I think you will find this is not an issue with 10.5.6, but rather something about your Mac setup that is stopping the installer from working correctly.
Try the following procedure for repairing faulty installations of the Canon drivers.
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax. Highlight the Canon printer in the Printer list and click the minus ( - ) button.
    2. Hold Control key and click in the empty Printers list. Click on Reset Printing System.
    3. Close Print & Fax
    4. Go to Library > Printers > Canon and delete the contents of the BJPrinter folder.
    5. Go to Library > Receipts and delete the Canon driver package file, if one exists. The file name will show Canon MX700 xxx.pkg
    6. Go to Library > Preferences and delete the Canon folder.
    7. Empty the Trash
    8. Unplug the Canon USB cable and restart the Mac
    9. Install the version 6.9.3 Canon driver that you downloaded. You don't need the CUPS v10.1.2 driver or any version on the included CDROM.
    10. Once the driver installation is complete, go to Applications > Utilities and open Disk Utility. Run the Repair Disk Permissions option.
    11. Reconnect the Canon USB cable. Then open Print & Fax and see if the Canon printer is listed. If it is, try a test print.
    12. If the printer is not listed, click the plus ( + ) button.
    13. Select the Default view and select the Canon printer connected via the USB port. The Print Using menu should automatically change to Canon IJ Printer.
    14. Click Add to add the printer.
