Canon MX870 B200 error, how to use scan only?

I have Canon MX870 which I only use it for scan. When I'm turning the printer on at the booting process it give me B200 error and STOP to work completely.I have to open and close cartridge door couple times at the startup to can skip the B200 error and be able to use the scanner.I know the problem is related to cartridge or printhead or something about printing. I only use this machine for scanning and i don't need to print at all. How I can disable or disconnect the printing component on this machine to be able to use just the scanner?
or at least disable the printer diagnostic at the start up?

Hi g6381646, We do not have instructions for disabling the printer diagnostic at startup or disconnecting the printing component of the printer; the printer will require servicing to resolve the error. Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue when attempting to scan.
I do have a few troubleshooting steps we can try.
First thing we are going to do is reset the printing system. Here is a link that gives you detailed instructions on How to reset the printing system.
The nest step would be to Repair disk permissions.
Once you have the first two steps completed, I then suggest that we install the HP Printer Drivers v.2.16.1 for OS X.

Embed Video: Playback error | How to use?

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to insert different videos into a multistate, they're like 10-15 seconds videos and the idea is to be able to play them inside the presentation (folio). I'm creating this for an Android device.
I've been trying with several formats such as FLV, SWF, MOV, AVI and MPG but when I update the folio on the device it only shows me the icon for the movie or the swf and when tapping on it nothing happens. I tried to change the settings on the media panel even to make it play as soon as the page loads but I still have no luck, it just keeps showing the icon once I have it on the tablet.
I'm new at this and I have read a few tutorials for inserting video into InDesign documents but i'm not really sure.. is this even possible?

If the phones share one iCloud account, then the storage upgrade applies to both devices. For example, I have an iPad and an iPhone that I back up to iCloud. Both use the same account, and both use the same iCloud storage.
If you go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, you will see both of your devices, and the amount of iCloud storage that they are using displayed. If you click on either of the devices, you will be able to see the size of the backup and the specific items that are being backed up and how large they are.

How to use email only on iCloud?

I have an "Email-only account" how can I read its mail in the iCloud?

I've seen no reference anywhere to email-only accounts. One would expect that they could be migrated in the usual way at http://me.com/move but I've seen no actual confirmation of this.
There does seem to be an issue with expired trial accounts whereby they can't be migrated, but that address can't be added to a new iCloud account. It's not clear whether email-only accounts will fall into the same mud-hole.
However if you do nothing your email-only account will terminate next June.
Therefore the most logical procedure is as follows:
Wait until the beginning of next June as if the migration fails and you lose the address you are only in the same position you will be in at the end of June.
Download all your stored emails to a new folder under 'On My Mac' before proceeding so you don't lose them.
Go to http://me.com/move and follow the migration procedure. If it works, then you're in.
If it doesn't work, try to create a new iCloud account using the email-only account address. It likely enough won't work but at this point you've nothing to lose by trying.
Failing all this you will lose the account and have to get yourself a new one and email everyone telling them so. (This happens quite a lot anyway, so people are used to it.)

I read the Java swing tutorial and went through the example. Please tell me what to do. Because I am unfamiliar with Threads and I am not using thread anywhere in my application.

You are using threads. All Java execution occurs on threads. Write a Java GUI and you're in a multithreaded environment - there's no way out of that.
If your "application is a complex one" then you would be better advised to understand threads than to try and pretend that they don't exist. For a start, if you don't think you're using threads then you're destined to run in to all sorts of problems as regards an unresponsive GUI, as you're probably now finding out.

When traveling abroad, how to use wifi only?

My daughter is going to a tech school in Denmark and wants to use her phone for local wifi access (web browsing and iMessage, etc). This morning we were able to exchange text messages when she was not connected to wifi. It appears she would have been using cellular without a global plan. Even with a global plan text/sms messages would cost $0.50 each
I'd like a checklist of what to turn off so her phone will work on wifi only.

We have it working now and it appears that turning off SMS and MMS is what we had missed before.
Additionally, it seems that she can only iMessage with someone who has started the iMessage conversation from here in the U.S. Otherwise, her iMessages are not delivered.
Didn't get to try the Airplane Mode suggestion but it sounds pretty likely to work,,,

It's been a while since you've posted, I hope you have not given up. I was having grief with my MF4150 as well, but got it working. There is a more current driver - search for Mac_UFRII_V230_uk_EN and install it.
Then, when you go to add your printer through System Preferences > Print & Fax, make sure you click the "default" icon in the top of the dialog. It should show your Canon MF 4100 series , then use the bottom drop down menu to choose your driver and select Canno MF410 Series UFRII LT (UK) from the list.

Can't add Canon MX870 using LPD on OS X 10.6.5

We've just got a new Canon MX870 printer in our office, and I'm trying to add it on my mac (running 10.6.5).
I've chosen LPD as the protocol, entered the printers IP address, and selected Canon MX870 series from the "Print Using" list. When I push the Add button, a windows drops down very briefly (less than a second) titled "Determining Installable Options". When it disapears, I'm left back at the Add Printer window, without the printer having been installed.
I've tried downloading and installing the latest drivers from the Canon website, but that did not help.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Here's what I did to get it fully working. Install the software that came with the printer, when it can't find the printer on the network just cancel. Now that the software is all installed, let's get the printer added to the Mac.
Okay, so what you want to do is go into Device Settings>LAN Settings>Other Settings>Bonjour settings>Enable/disable Bonour> Click Enable
At this point you can also go into Service name and change the name of the printer.
Then reboot the printer.
Go into System Preferences>Print & Fax on your Mac, unlock it if it's locked, and click on the + to add a printer. Now you should be in Add Printer. Click on Default if your not already there, give it a few seconds to locate the printer and the scanner. Select the printer and click Add. Now, if you want the scanner added as well, go back in and click on the +, select the scanner and click Add.
Now, unless there's some other network issue your printer should be fully functional.

I suggest you look for a Canon App at the iTunes App store. It will have limitations, but should get you printing.
There are other printing Apps with more features such as Print n Share or PrintCentral, but they can only be accessed from within other Apps that have the "Open In" option. These include their own mail, browser, photo and text programs. In other words, they do not provide true AirPrint capability.
Depending on your situation, a better option may be to run a program on your computer that will share its printer as AirPrint over WiFi. Programs such as Printopia and FingerPrint can do that, and are reported to work well. Your computer must be on and awake any time you want to print. <Printopia for Macintosh> <FingerPrint for PC and Mac>

How to use a @PRIOR function with a SubVar in a cross dim formula?

I have a pretty basic logic to calculate a member:
Rate = Account1->Entity->Prior Forecast Year / (Account2->Entity->Prior Forecast Year + Account3->Entity->Prior Forecast Year);
We have a SubVar for the Current Forecast Year, so in my formula I wanted to use @PRIOR(&CurFstYr)
I got an error message: expected type [MEMBER] found [NUMBER] ([@PRIOR]) in function []
The calc validates and runs with no errors if I use &CurFstYr only, which gives me the option to create a Prior Forecast Year subvar: &PriorFstYr. Is this my only option?
I've also tried using SUMRANGE function. The formula validated for @PRIOR(&CurFstYr). Eventhough the calc script validated, the calc stopped after 3 seconds with the below error message:
Error executing formula for [Rate] (line 0): invalid object type
Any idea why the SUMRANGE calc failed to run? Also, once again, is my only option to create a new SubVar for the Prior Forecast Year?

Rate = @PRIOR(Account1->Entity->&CurFstYr, 1, "Years") / (@PRIOR(Account2->Entity->&CurFstYr, 1, "Years") + @PRIOR(Account3->Entity->&CurFstYr, 1, "Years")) ;You can put a cross dim into a @PRIOR statement, but you will need to specify the dimension unless it's whatever is tagged as Time. My guess is Years is not the Time dimension.
I'll bet the @PRIOR doesn't make things fast.

Hi, I have 10.6.8 and an HP printer so it may be slightly different but I'll give it my best shot:
Go to System Preferences.
Click on "Print & Fax"
Near the top of that page you should see "Print" and "Scan" options. Click "Scan"
A button appears that says "open scanner"
The settings are different between the different scanner models so I'm not sure what the next window will look like, but it should be pretty straightforward from there. It will scan to a JPEG image which you can attach to an email. I hope that helps! Let me know if there's anything ense I can help with.
