Canon MX890 driver

After upgrading to Mavericks about two weeks ago, I now have two Canon products that won't work with this upgrade--a two-year-old MX890 printer/scanner and an older CanoScan LIDE 60.  I've searched the Canon website, and wouldn't you know it, these do not have any updated drivers or support at all.  I've e-mailed Canon, but I thought I'd try here to see if anyone has any ideas.  I do see some other sources of a driver for this printer (VueScan, Free Printer Drivers) as well as this link (http://www.usa.canon.com/nw3s/CanonUSA/DownloadContents/English/0100409802EN.htm) but when I click on the Agree and download, nothing happens, and I'm leery of downloading from those other sources.  I did find a Canon Asia (I'm in USA) website that has a driver for this printer.  I haven't tried to download it to see if it would work.  Can somebody tell me for or against any of these options?  Thanks.

I reset the printing system.  I was able to add my Canon iP4000 printer back in (previously had to install a program called Gutenprint to get it to work in Mavericks).  However, when I try to add the MX890, after clicking the + sign, a window comes up with my iP4000 listed in it.  The fields below for a "name," "location" and "use"are grayed out unless I click on the name of the iP4000.  When I do that, those fields fill in with its information.  So I tried manually changing the name to MX890, left the location as Mac Mini 3 (my computer), and used the pull-down menu to choose software.  What comes up is this:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2tsgqwlgxhnhs1z/Screenshot%202014-10-01%2017.51.49.png ?dl=0
Do I go ahead and choose the MX890 with the Gutenprint addition?  I can't seem to get the printer driver that was in the list you sent.  Thanks.
BTW, Canon said I should use the driver for the MX892 as it's the same series as the MX890.  They also offered me a discount on a replacement for the Lide scanner, but when I get this MX890 running, I won't need the scanner.

  • How to Update Canon MG3120 Driver in Windows 8?

The PIXMA MG3120 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-In-One delivers fantastic quality, versatility, and ease of use. It has a lot of advantages but one disadvantage. If you do not update Canon MG3120 driver, the printer just not works. So here is the question: how to update Canon MG3120 driver in windows 8.

    Hi Tessa053,
You can download the latest drivers for the printer from the Canon USA website to update the printer.  Please click here to go to the Drivers and Software page for the PIXMA MG3120.  Once on the initial download page for your model, please do the following:
    1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system.
    2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "RECOMMENDED FOR YOU" section and click the MINI MASTER SETUP file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Please click on the checkbox below the DOWNLOAD button, then click the red DOWNLOAD button to begin the download. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.
Once you have downloaded the Mini Master Setup file, please double-click on it to install the drivers on your computer.
    Hope this helps!

  • Canon iPF Driver Update

Canon has today released an update for their iPF (large format) printers. The update is to resolve text not printing after installing 10.6.7.
In testing to our Canon iPF8300 I found that the recent Font update was not required but I would still recommend this is installed if you have issues with text not printing. I was also able to print with the Fast Graphic Process enabled. A previous workaround prior to the release of the update was to disable this setting, located in Main menu, Advanced Settings.
Here is a link to the Canon iPF Driver Update

Have you tried installing / using the driver for OS X 10.8 on 10.9? I've seen many cases where drivers for older versions of OS X will still install and operate on 10.9.

  • Canon i860 driver no longer shows in airport express

I've been printing to a canon i860 via airport express without incident for a year now. I only do it when I travel on business, so it’s like twice a quarter. I’m out on a trip now and got everything setup only to find that in printer setup utility it was no longer listed as an available option. No biggie, I'll just re-add it. Bonjour sees it, I select it, but when it prompts me to “print using”, I select Canon but the i860 is not listed in the drop down list. It stops at S800 - Gimp- Print v5.0.0 beta 2. In fact, everything has the gimp print suffix after the printer name, whatever the heck that is. It used to list the I series printers so I could just select the i860, but no more. I select the s800 and it prints greyed out. I select the s400 and it prints black but on a third of the page.
    Help!

I'm posting on this again as I'm still having the problem.
I re-downloaded the appropriate driver from the Canon site and first added the printer via USB and that worked fine. Under “Print Using” it said Canon i860.
Then I connected it to the airport extreme and it sees it but the auto select under ‘print using’ comes up blank and is making me select something, but under Canon, like I typed above a few months ago, I don’t have the option of selecting my printer. I don’t know if it’s possible to manually point it to the driver, but I have no idea where drivers are stored to even try.
Anyone know what’s going on here? It used to work just fine. I used to just select the printer and away we went. Now it’s just not finding the driver.

Although it mentions OS 10.6 on the link, have you tried downloading the latest drivers - if you haven't already - from the Apple Support site, maybe they'll work:

  • Canon MP600 driver missing

After installing my canon mp600 print driver from the cd and down loading it from canon, I can't get it to show up. I can see all the other print drivers that installed with Leopard.
Is there any known issue with the mp600 driver? I couldn't find any references to it on the discussion board.

I should have added this from another thread, it got my scanner working after the Leopard upgrade.

I would re-install the driver. Go to Canon's website and download the latest driver that was posted 5/27. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDet ailTabAct&fcategoryid=334&modelid=13800

  • Canon MG3550 driver for Yosemite

Printer can not be found since updating to Yosemite.
    Please help.

A protocol called Bonjour is used to advertise the printer on your local network. If you don't see the MG in the Add printer window, then like other users who upgraded to Yosemite, you have a problem with Bonjour. Until a fix is supplied by Apple you can add your printer using the LPD protocol. To do so you will have to determine the IPv4 address being used by the MG. This can be determined via the control panel on the MG via Device Settings > Network Settings > WLAN Details. Once you have the IPv4 address, open Printers & Scanners and select to add. Then click the IP icon and enter the IPv4 address of the MG. Set the Protocol to Line Printer Daemon and leave the Queue field blank. Change the Name to MG3550 and select the Canon MG3500 series driver in the Use menu. Click Add to complete the printer creation. Now open a document to see if you can print to it.

  • Bonjour can't find Canon IJ driver but USB does

I've searched extensively and seen a lot of different versions of this problem, but no thread that answered my quesion.
I just upgraded my iBook 1.33 Ghz from 10.3.9 to 10.4.7. I'd been using my Canon iP5000 through my Airport Express for a year and a half, but now it won't work. I remember that when I first set it up, I had to make sure to connect it to USB first before using it with Airport, and it worked fine thereafter.
Now it refuses to find the driver. When I try to add a printer, it finds the iP5000 conntected to "Bonjour" immediately but can't find a driver. If I look in the folder of Canon options, there are many GiMP drivers listed, but none that work for my machine (any that I use cause the print to be far too light and/or don't see the sheet feeder tray).
I downloaded the most current driver from Canon, but they won't offer support beyond that because the iP5000 "isn't supported with Airport."
When I connect through USB, it finds the "Canon IJ Printer" driver immediately, but when I try to search for any such file manually, I can't find it anywhere. Anyone know where the heck that driver gets put when the installer installs it?

Thanks for the reply Greg. I'm confused then, because it leads you to believe that you can select a driver by choosing "other" in the add printer dialog.
Again, I already did used the combined updated to get to 10.4.7--that's what gave me the problem in the first place.
I checked the PPDs in the folder you mention and there isn't a single Canon mentioned.
I'm just not understanding why it knows exactly where to look to find "Canon IJ Printer Driver" when I'm hooked up through USB, but has no clue when it's through Bonjour.

  • Canon MF8380cw Driver

    Good Day,
I have a MacBook Pro with OS Yosemette 10.10 and my Canon MF8380cdw won't work since the update to OS 10.10.
I get a filter error when I try to print - tried setting it up via bonjour and via IP address.
Tried downloading the Mavericks driver, but the installer won't run on 10.10.
    What can I do - can't print - HELP!
    Thank you!
    Solved!

    Hi PaulPrass.
The pre-released, beta version of the Mac OS X 10.10 operating system is not currently supported with the imageCLASS machines.  Drivers are normally released for supported units after a new operating system has been commercially released.  I recommend checking back after the operating system has been commercially released.

  • Canon MG5220 driver not available on Software update server

I'm receiving the following error everytime I attempt to add the Multifunction Canon MG5220 printer ... Connected via USB and WiFi both modes fail to install the printer driver.
"Can't install the software for the canon MG5220 series becasue it is not currently available from the software update server"
I've downloaded drivers from the Canon site, however the Mac continues to attempt to reach the update server to get the driver without success. So I've not been able to print.
Strangley enough, the scanner driver portion is seen, but not the printer.

Resolved after downloading and running the setup file for this multifunction printer from Canon site.

  • Canon printer driver won't load

I just purchased a Canon PIXMA iP6700D photo printer. The driver installation disk (Easy Setup icon) takes me past the administrator login, but does not install the driver. Also tried installing from the driver folder on the CD, same thing. So, thinking the CD-ROM might be defective, I downloaded the driver from canon's site; same thing.
After checking the posts here regarding problems with drivers, I followed the procedure to get rid of old drivers in the Library folder and restart. No go.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks, after posting my question I called Canon tech support, and that was their solution as well. I did that, and I'm happily printing now! What a relief.

  • Canon printer driver will not install

I am trying to install a canon s9000 printer driver on my ibook g4. It goes through almost the entire installation process and then afterwards says there were errors installing.
I was printing just fine before using my airport. But then suddenly i was unable to print one day. So I deleted my printers in the printer setup utility I then chose add a new printer and it would not let me choose the s9000. It basically came up in my rendevous printer list I would select it, and then an error box came up. So I redownloaded the driver from Canon, but now it wont install.
