Canon on screen manual

I just up-graded to OS 10.6.8 (snow leopard). The on screen manual for my Canon MX 300 multipurpose machine disappeared and attempts to reinstall it from the CD have repeatedly resulted in an error message: : "Help viewer cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Help Viewer works with this version of Mac OS." etc.
I have discussed this with Canon support and they say that it is a Mac problem. I suspect they are correct. The printer-scanner-fax all work just fine. The MP Navigator works.
How can I get my directions back on-screen
"Quo Vadis?"

Hi Ken,
I just ran through the setup of my MP980 using the BU-30 and it all seemed to work okay for me. Using the Bluetooth Setup Assistant the MP980 series-1 was displayed as a Printer and on clicking Continue there was a very brief message about pairing and using 0000 for the passkey. However before I could enter the key the assistant closed and then showed the printer was paired and connected.
I then opened Print & Fax and selected to Add the printer using the Default view. The MP980 appeared after several seconds with the Kind column showing 'bluetooth' and when selected the Print Using menu changed to the MP980 series. Clicked OK to complete the creation of the print queue and was then able to print to it from Preview.
The thing I did notice with the Bluetooth app in Sys Prefs was that after a document had printed the printer was showing 'Not Connected'. But as soon as I selected to print again this would change to 'Connected'.
Regarding the driver, Canon is showing v10.26 for the iP100, which is the same version used by other models. If you connect the iP100 to the Mac via USB and then run Software Update you should get an even later version (10.30.3.0) that is also part of the [Canon Driver Update v2.3|http://support.apple.com/downloads/CanonPrinter_Drivers_for_Mac_OS_X_v106] update.

  • CANON G12: screen and lens trouble shooting please?

    Hi there!
I am hoping someone can help me out.
I get this dark line on the lef side of my screen + on the actual photos.
I also have an auto-focus problem now, when zooming closer to subjects it's unable to perform.
The store says it could be a small hair caught in the lens and that Canon would charge me 200-250 euros to fix it.
    Is that what it is?
Did someone ever get the same problem?
    How was it fixed?
    See an example : http://imgur.com/g0FeXMH
I love using that camera - many thanks for your help!!!

One question I would ask is are you sure the lens cover is opening all the way? I had a similar line on my PowerShot A series camera. The lens did not fully open on the one side due to some fine particles of dirt in the lens mechanism. I used some compressed air for electronics and cleaned that dirt out of the mechanism, which resolved the issue.
However, if you are having focus issues, it sounds like there could be something like a hair stuck in the barrel of the lens, but for it to show a line on the images, that could be near the filter that protects the image sensor or inside the lens. I would think the camera needs to be opened to inspect the sensor as well as the lens. If the hair is indeed inside the lens, between the glass elements, that would be an expensive repair as the lens would need to be aligned after it was cleaned. If it's at the sensor, it should be a less expensive repair. Are you using the macro mode when you are shooting the close ups? Maybe you're getting a little too close. I tried zooming in for close up shots, but needed to use closeup filters because I was getting too close. Plus, I have accidently left the macro mode on when I didn't need it, and of course the camera would not focus properly. Just asking.

  • Can I use my Canon 60D in Manual mode while shooting video?

I have a canon 60d with a canon 50mm 1.4 lens. I want to shoot mainly video with it but whenever I go into manual mode, it wont let me shoot video.
When I use the video category (on the dial) it wont let me change my iso, aperture and shutter speed. Im not sure if its the lens or the camera.

  • How to get to reset nvram screen manually

Sorry, I couldnt find the G4 forum. How do I get to the white cursor screen to reset the nvram on a G4 powermac. I've done it before and have the inputs written down but dont know how to get to the screen. Any help???

Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Command-Option-O-F key combo until you see a somewhat intimidating command-line display that ends with the Open Fimware prompt. Type the following line:reset-nvram
press the return key on your keyboard
    set-defaults
    press return
    reset-all
    press return
    Your Mac will reboot.

  • [iPhone] Darkening the screen like in an alert manually

    Hi,
Is it possible to darken the screen manually? When an alert screen pops up, the background has a neat fade effect. Is it possible to use this effect without the alert screen?
    Thanks for any help!

You can just use a basic animation to dim the screen by changing the view's alpha value. Although the alert pop-up does a glow around the alert.
    [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil];
    [UIView setAnimationDuration:.4];
    view.alpha = .75;
    [UIView commitAnimations];

  • Canon MP560 how to scan/import from a memory card

I'm connected via Airport Express, printing and scanning is fine. I have installed the last update I can find (mp560sosxcp103030ea8-2). I want to import picture from a Compact Flash memory card, the printer perfectly read the card.

You may need to check the Advanced Guide for your MP560. This is part of the On-screen manual you can download from the Canon web site. Here is a link from the Canon Australia web site.
    http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0300237701.html
The reason I suggest you check the guide is that according to the Guide for my MP980, the Card Slot cannot be used over a network for Mac OS X 10.5, and presumably 10.6. It functions fine when the printer is connected directly to the Mac via USB. But if you have the machine connecting via wireless to the Express, then it may not function. But given your model is a year newer than mine, maybe this limitation is no longer present. So, check the manual to confirm.

  • Color Management and Canon i960 printer

When I go to print from Aperture it says to turn off the Canon color management driver. How do I do this?

It depends on the printer driver. My Epson driver has a special, color section. However my simple Canon pixma doesn't have this. It either automatically turns color management off (in PS and Aperture) Or you have to use a workaround (when printing form e.g. Illustrator) By selecting the sRGB profile in the colorsync tab.
So you're best option at this point is to contact Canon support: Luckily for you, they describe how to print using ICC-profiles on their website:
How to use custom profiles in printing
For printing using a custom, user-made or third-party profiles, follow the procedures below. ColorSync color processing based on the custom profile can be performed by the application, or by the printer driver.
    1. Specifying an ICC Profile within an Application
    2. Open the image you want to print in an application. Edit/retouch the image as needed.
    3. Check that the correct ICC profile has been assigned, select the item that allows the application to manage colors, then specify the profile for printing. For example, from the Print or Print with Preview screen of Adobe Photoshop, select 'Photoshop Manages Colors', then select a profile as the printer profile. At this time, please clear the 'Black Point Compensation' checkbox.
The ICC profiles installed for Canon photo paper appear as follows.
Note: The profile names for other manufacturers' papers will appear differently.
    (For example: Canon Pro9000 PR1)
    (1) Printer model name
    (2) Media type
Each letter pair represents its respective Media type.
PR = Canon Photo Paper Pro and Pro II
SP: = Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy
MP: = Canon Matte Photo Paper
SG: = Canon Photo Paper Plus Semi-gloss
GL: = Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II
PT: = Canon Photo Paper Pro Platinum
Note: If your printer does not support one of the above paper types, the corresponding profile will not be installed. Please see the on-screen manual of your printer for supported paper types.
    (3) Print quality
The numbers correspond to the numbers on the print quality slide bar in the [Quality & Media] dialog box opened from the Print screen of the driver. The lower the number, the finer the quality.
    4. Select the command to print from your application to bring up the Print screen.
In Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6, select Color Matching from the drop-down menu, and then select 'ColorSync'.
Note: If you are using Adobe Photoshop CS2 or newer and have selected 'Let Photoshop Determine Colors', the 'Color Matching' from the Print Options pop-up menu is automatically set to 'ColorSync.'
Using earlier versions of Mac OS X, from the Print dialogue, select Color Options from the drop-down menu, set 'Color Correction': 'None'.
    5. Select Quality & Media from the drop-down menu. Set the Media Type and print quality settings to the same parameters as those in the custom profile.
    6. Click 'Print' to print your image.

  • Duplex printing on Canon MG6150

    Hey everyone,
I recently bought a Canon Pixma MG6150 printer which comes with automatic duplex printing. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
I want to use it in InDesign to create a booklet however, whenever I go into Print Settings>Printer>Duplex Printing & Margin everything is greyed out.
I've tried all the drivers I can find on the Canon website and the CD that came with the printer. I've heard about using older drivers, does this mean to download older OS drivers (I tried 10.5 and my Mac said it was not possible to install) or older drivers from Canon?
    Any ideas? Thanks!

I fixed the problem, however I've seen a lot of questions about the Canon duplex printing issues with some Mac users so I thought I'd put my solution up to help anyone else.
Going through the On-Screen Manual that comes with the CD I found out that:
When a media type other than Plain Paper, Hagaki A or Hagaki is selected from Media Type menu of Quality & Media, Automatic Duplex Printing appears grayed out and is unavailable.
When Borderless Printing is set, Automatic Duplex Printing appears grayed out and is unavailable.
Automatic Duplex Printing can be performed only when one of the following paper sizes is selected from Paper Size.US Letter, A5, A4, B5 JIS (JB5), Hagaki
After printing the front page, there is an ink drying wait time before starting to print the back page (Operation stops temporarily). Do not touch the paper during the time. You can change the ink drying wait time from Custom Settings in the Canon IJ Printer Utility.
After going through the printing settings and following these regulations, Duplex Printing was no longer grey!

  • Canon PIXMA MX860 printer on Snow Leopard

After upgrading from OS 10.4.11 Tiger to OS 10.6.4 Snow Leopard, my Ethernet connected MX860 stopped working. Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
On OS X Server, you need to use the Server Admin utility (Applications > Server ) to share the local print queue. This requires the Print service to be added/started and then a queue created for the local printer.
Seems unusual that you would want to share a wireless printer from the server. The MacBook 'clients' would still be able to connect directly to this printer without having to connect via the server share so without knowing all the details of your setup it just seems an odd requirement.

  • My firefox browser window will not stay in full screen mode, it keeps reducing itself so I can't use the scroll down button on the side, so I have to constantly minimize and maximize to get to the scroll bar, How can I stop this?

Like I said it happens every few minutes... It is annoying when you are on the internet for more than a few minutes because you constantly have to either minimize it or reduce the screen manually by hitting the button and then maximize it again to get the scroll bar to be in view to use it.

Delete the localstore.rdf file at the following location:
    C:\Users\'''USERNAME'''\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\'''PROFILE NAME'''
I did this and it fixed it for several days, but it broke again eventually.
