Canon Pixma ip1600 with PowerBook G4

Hi all,
My Canon Pixma ip1600 printer works just fine with my 1.33 mhz iBook. After installing the driver on my 867 mhz PowerBook G4 it does not work fine at all. When connected, the printer shows up in the Add Printer box, but I cannot add it; the add button is greyed out. I can post a Grab shot of this later when I'm connected to the printer at that location.
Any ideas?

This might be of some relevance. Here is the list I get when using the "locate" command in Terminal...

The Mac printer drivers are not included on the included CD. Just Windows.
The Mac printer driver for this model is available from Apple. So all you need to do is connect the MG to your network or directly to your Mac and then open Printers & Scanners and click the plus button to add the printer. When you select the MG5420 you will get a prompt stating that the driver is available from Apple and would you like to download and install. Agree to this and the driver will be installed automatically for you.
Also, this model supports printing via iOS devices so you also have the option of adding this printer using Apple's AirPrint driver, which is a basic driver for printing.

Canon PIXMA mp970 with 10.5

I am looking to upgrade from my old eMac to a 24" iMac, but on looking at the Canon site re printer drivers for my mp970 I see the following:
"Caution
Mac OS X v10.5
3. When attempting to print, the printer does not operate in some instances."
Does anyone know what that means? Are there problems using the mp970 with 10.5?

I have been printing to my MP970 from 10.5.x for several months without any problems, so I don't know what the note is referring to. Certainly seems like a very open statement.

Another route is to use Bonjour for Windows to be able to access the printer attached to the AirPort base station from your PC.
In addition, not all USB printers work with AirPort base stations for sharing. The following iFelix link provides an "unofficial" list of known compatible printers...and some workarounds.

Canon Pixma ip1600

I've been on the printer board with this issue and also to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store. We can't get my PB to "add" this printer. My 133 Mhz G4 iBook works fine with it. Anyone having any hardware specific issue with these two products; the Titanium G4 and the Canon?

I agree with you Paul. It would be nice to know what happened. I have two thoughts. One is the original Archive and Install was done to a Jaguar/OS 9.2 OS to Tiger. Maybe some things didn't take. I've heard people say Erase and Install is better. I wanted to keep the OS 9 startup option though.
Second thought is when doing the last Archive and Install, I noticed it installing languages. I usually omit these. I've heard it said somewhere since most of these printer drivers are written in other languages to begin with, it's better to have these installed.
Edit: I dunno. I'm just happy as a clam I can attach printers to my new (old) computer.

How can I get two-sided print on Canon Pixma IP3000 with Snow Leopard?

I've just upgraded to Snow Leopard and find that duplex printing is no longer available. How do I get it back?

You should have a menu item called Duplex Printing and Margin. This is part of the v10.26 driver that is provided via Software Update.
This was the same menu item that was available with the v4.8.3 driver that was included with OS X 10.5. If you were not using this menu previously with 10.5 then maybe you were using the iP3000 Gutenprint driver?

Canon Pixma MP495 not working with mini

I'm trying to use the scanner on my Canon Pixma MP495 with my Mac Mini. The printer works okay, but when I click on the scanner, I get an error that says reopeon or okay - MP Navigator EX quit unexpectedly.

I would like to add I might have the problem solved.
I found an older Windows forum from 2009 where another person had a similar problem and it was suggested to use the add 'local printer'. Of course, the wizard set it up so not sure what it did but I did what they suggested and the scanner finally works.
Also, when I went to print something, the preview picture came up and the door to the printer popped open but one of my ink cartridges is out so it couldn't print.....bummer.
At least I never got the 'driver not installed correctly' message.
As soon as I get a chance to get some more ink and try it, I'll post the results.

Have you ruled out an issue with the driver for the printer? It is possible that the material on the installation disk was developed prior to PSEv.12. I understand that everything is new, but who knows what the date of production is. You can check on Canon's web site for driver update.

The software My Image Garden that was bundled with your PIXMA MG7120 will allow you to print 4 photos per sheet.
To use My Image Garden, please follow these steps:
1. Open My Image Garden.
2. Select the photo that you wish to print.
3. At the bottom, please select New Art and then click on Photo Layout.
4. In the Theme List, select the layout that you wish to use and click OK.
5. Make any desired changes and click Print.

Nope, your PB is not too old.

The page has you first select your version of the Mac OS (10.4) from the pull-down "Chose Operating System" menu. Once selected, you'll see the available software, Click on the arrown next to "Drivers" and it should look like this:

Click the word "Download " and you'll get the driver.
Note at the top of that image there are other links to other documents pertaining to this printer. If you click on "Brochures and Manuals," while you are on that web page, you'll have Canon's instructions, probably better done than by anyone here other than someone who has the same printer model on a Mac running OS 10.4.

Printserver with Canon Pixma 4000

I tried to print with a Canon Pixma 4000 via Printserver. It is no problem with the Windows PC, but it don't work with my ibook. I used the new Gutenberg gimps driver, nothing . It didn't work. Has anyone a good idea ??

Has anyone else had problems with the Canon Pixma MG3250 on their air?

I bought a Canon Pixma yesterday, and I have had problems setting the printer up as one I don't have a cd drive- so I had to download the software- and two my laptop does't seem to recognise the printer wirelessly. It is fine when I stick the USB cable in. I contacted apple to see if it was a software issue, they helped by getting a couple of things up- then I followed the guide from canon on how to install the printer and and connect to WPS but it just doesn't seem to like my mac. Help I'm at my wits end!

I had a similar problem. After i extracted the audio track from a clip (so i can edit it down for a drop zone in iDVD) iMovie aborted and i couldn't get it to run correctly with that video again. Each time i tried to open it, iMovie would hang with the startup dialog saying there was less than a minute left to load the video.
I trashed the video and pulled up my backup from my outboard drive (tedious; >.5hr over USB 2), i'm going to try again.
I have QT Pro also (i upgraded for the file conversion features, mostly).
