Canon Pixma IP3000 experiences?

I have a Canon Pixma IP3000 here, and it's an awesome printer, except when I got it (I was still on Gentoo) I couldn't get it to work properly (no duplex support, bad colour prints), so I've been using it from the windows installation on my laptop. But since Arch is so awesome, I thought maybe it can work now. So, anyone have experience with running this printer?

  • Yosemite printer driver for Canon Pixma IP3000

This is not so much a question as a solution to getting my old Canon Pixma IP3000 working again after upgrading to Yosemite.
Although the printer is listed, when I wanted to add it I found no software for it from Apple. Phoning Canon they also said they have no software for the IP3000 and Yosemite. To make a long story short, after much trial and error trying out other drivers which were listed on "choose driver" I found that the IP4500 driver can be configured for cassette feed AND duplex and works on Yosemite. Hope this helps someone else to keep some of the older products going in our throw away society!

I just installed that driver on a 10.10 VM and also found that there is no Duplex Print & Margin menu - just Margin.
I then installed it on a 10.8 VM to be sure the lack of the menu was not due to using the 10.8 driver on 10.10. However I found that even on 10.8, there was no Duplex Print & Margin. So it would seem that duplex printing was not an option for the iP3500.
I then checked an alternate driver suite called Gutenprint and added the iP3500 Gutenprint printer. It also did not support the ability to print duplex.
But when I added another printer, this time using the Gutenprint iP3000 driver, there was the ability to print two sided from the Layout menu. So then I thought it might be worth checking if the Canon iP3000 driver also provides a duplex setting, but the last supported OS for this model was 10.6 so I did not even try to install that old driver on 10.10.
Here is a link to the Gutenprint driver if you would like to try that.

  • Canon Pixma  iP3000 and OS9

There's something strange about the OS9 driver of my Canon Pixma iP3000 printer. In OS X, I can easily view the remaining ink level information of my printer. In OS9, that option is not available. Curious, I could do that without problems in OS 9 with my old Epson 740 Stylus Color.

  • No duplex on Canon PIXMA iP3000 via Printer Sharing

    Hi there folks,
since upgrading my MacBook to 10.6, I can no longer print duplex on the iP3000 shared from the office iMac G5 (running 10.5.8) via Airport.
Here are the options so far:
    1. Default printer driver:
The default printer driver ("IP3000") simply doesn't show the duplex option in the printer dialog's drop-down menu.
    2. Manually updated and selected Canon's own driver:
I've updated the Canon drivers to 2.2 from the Apple Support Downloads and manually selected the appropriate driver (version 10.26.1.0 - definitely the latest one), but the printer will invariably attempt to print the job "Supply Levels" before I can even attempt to print anything and then pause the queue.
The Print dialog now shows the proper duplex option, though.
But attempting to print tells me that the printer is "Printing…", but nothing ever happens.
    3. Gutenprint driver:
Doesn't give me the duplex option, either. Attempting to print results in supposedly successful completion of the print job, but nothing ever arrives at the printer.
Option (1) is the only one that works, and NO DUPLEX. Waaaaahhhhhh...
Any ideas, or should I just file a bug on the Feedback page?

The installer is v5.5 but the driver version is 4.83
There have been no updates since 2007.
Well, technically there has been an update because Canon has supplied the v10.26 driver to Apple. As to why they have not provided the driver on their web sites is an unknown.
The drivers Apple supplies for 10.6 obviously follow a completely different numbering scheme and are obviously a completely different development branch from the 10.5 and previous drivers.
No, the version is set by Canon, not Apple. And the so-called CUPS driver was made by the same department as the older Carbon drivers.
    In other words:
Either: It's not a bug, the **** thing simply isn't fully supported anymore, as there is no current driver for 10.5.
Or: This is something that CAN be fixed in the 10.6 drivers.
One solution could be to install the same version of Gutenprint driver on 10.5 and 10.6. The Sourceforge site has v5.2.4 available for both platforms.

  • How can I get two-sided print on Canon Pixma IP3000  with Snow Leopard?

I've just upgraded to Snow Leopard and find that duplex printing is no longer available. How do I get it back?

You should have a menu item called Duplex Printing and Margin. This is part of the v10.26 driver that is provided via Software Update.
This was the same menu item that was available with the v4.8.3 driver that was included with OS X 10.5. If you were not using this menu previously with 10.5 then maybe you were using the iP3000 Gutenprint driver?

  • Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer ejects 3.8 in of a 4X6 paper and prints only 2.2 in of the image printing from Photoshop CS6, I'm sure I set everything correctly - what could I be missing?

Using Mac Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) & editing & printing from Photoshop CS 6.
Have new Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer and set it up yesterday.  First thing printed was a
document from MS Word (a letter) 8.5 X 11 plain paper - this came out OK.  Next I fire up
Photoshop and open a 4 X 6 inch image to do a test print.  I set it up in the print dialog as
4X6 paper, Canon's Pro Glossy paper profile, rear tray, standard print quality, Photoshop
manages the color.  I load the paper in the rear tray close the covers and hit print.  Now, when
it starts to print the printer moves about 3.8 inches of paper out of the printer and starts printing
on the remaining 2.2 inches then spits the paper out.  It does this in Photoshop (any image it doesn't
matter), and it does it printing from Capture NX.  I have been able to get it to print on the paper
correctly using Apple's Preview program but that that's not going to do me any good.  I was on
the phone with Canon tech support for about 2 hours and they were completely puzzled suggesting
I would have to use Canon's printing apps instead to print - that doesn't do me any good either.
I want to be able to print from Photoshop.  Any one every heard of this or experienced the same
    problem? Thanks JamesD!

Hello again. I recognize that a print is good if you like it and bad if you don't, despite what others might say, but I will at least share my experiences. They might help you or others who are following this thread.
My monitor is calibrated with Spyder 3. Gamma 2.2, 6500K, 83 cd/m^2. Contrast at 50%; brightness about 52%. My monitor lets me choose blackness level - it defaults to 50%.
When I print the test image I linked to above, using Lightroom, with no adjustments, my technical output is as follows:
Middle step wedge shows twelve disticnt steps. Whitest step is color of unprinted paper.
It varies from paper to paper, but I can discerne at least the 252 step and on some papers 253 - telling me I have good highlight detail.
On the black side I discerne 8 or 10, nothing lower. (That sounds like what you are reporting).
Artistically I am very happy how my print looks - nice red strawberries, good flesh tones, etc.
One my monitor, the on-screen image is almost identical to the print. I am surprised that you can see the 2 wedge step on screen at a very similar brightness.
I also checked out this B&W test image:
    http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/bw_printing/bw-test-image-2.html
You are probably aware of this since you are printing with Print Studio Pro, but others may not be.
You can print a series of test images:
find the one that best suits your taste, enter the calibration values in PSP, and save them as a custom setting. Then, each time you want to print recall the setting.
You can do a similar thing in Lightroom using the printer driver and User Templates.
There would be some one-time trial and error to that approach.

  • Canon Pixma IP8500 not visible in printer list

When trying to install my Canon Pixma IP8500 printer (wireless connected) for the first time on my new iMac I found this particular printer was missing from the printer list, although in the OS X documentation it was stated that this printer would be supported. Although somewhat surprised I downloaded the latest driver from Canon. Surprise, surprise, after installing this driver (an action which was 'succesfully completed') it still was not visible in the printer list !?

  • Canon Pixma Pro-100 prints very dark

I see that this is a recuring problem with the Canon Pixma Pro-100, but as nothing I have found online helps I'm asking and are hoping that someone can solve this problem for me.
Just picked up a Pixma Pro-100 today, and installed it on my 2011 iMac 27" (Yosemite) with downloaded drivers from Canon's website to be sure i have the latest ones. I also checked the printers firmware but that's the latest at 1.100. Wether I'm printing via Lightroom or Photoshop; or via Canon Print Studio Pro, My Image Garden, or via LR / PS directly; with- or without PS as color manager; the prints turns out to be much to dark.
I have to set an exposure of +2/3 in LR to be anywhere close to getting the same result as on the screen. I'm also careful to select the right ICC profiles for the correct paper. My monitor is calibrated with an Spyder4pro and I also re-calibrated it during this process to see if that helped.
Well. Long story short; the prints are to dark. So i borrowed my wife's 2013 MacBook Pro (Yosemite) Spyder4pro, and installed the latest drivers from Canon. Again; on this machine the prints are also to dark with about +2/3 to correct for the printer to do something that looks like the monitor. Both monitors are also set to about 30% brightness.
I also have access to an Epson Stylus Photo R3000 and the prints from this comes out much brighter.
Sadly I see that many others also have the same problem. So; here's the question. How do I fix this? Do i have to return the printer again and get a refund? Because this is clearly not good enough.

  • How's the Canon Pixma MP960?

Anyone have good or bad experiences with the Canon Pixma MP960? I'm seriously considering it. Especially interested in how well the scanner works.
I've been having problems with my HP 7410 cutting off scans when I use the ADF, so I'd appreciate any advice or comments you can offer.
    Thanks in advance,

Looking at the specs an the Canon Aus web site, this model doesn't have a document feeder. And it also doesn't have fax, which you mentioned in your wish list in a previous posting. So I don't know if this changes your interest in the 960?

  • How do i fix error code 6A00 on the LCD screen of my Canon PIXMA MP810

how do i fix error code 6A00 on the LCD screen of my Canon PIXMA MP810

    Hello drews,
To try and resolve the 6A00 error, we will want to ensure that no paper jams or obstructions exist in the printer.  To do this, please follow the steps below:
    ASF / Paper Output Slot
    Turn off the printer.
    Remove paper from the ASF.
Gently pull the jammed paper out.
If paper is visible from the ASF, use both hands to pull the paper out slowly.
If paper is visible from the paper output slot, use both hands to pull the paper out slowly.
If the paper tears and a piece of that remains inside the printer, open the scanning unit (printer cover) and remove the paper from inside the printer.
Note : Be careful not to touch the components inside the printer.
Turn on the printer and confirm that the Alarm light is off.
(If the jammed paper remains in the printer, the paper may be automatically ejected.)
Load paper back into the ASF.
Press <OK> to clear the message and continue printing. If you are printing from an application software, follow the instructions displayed on your computer.
    Top
    Paper jams inside the printer
Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord and USB cable.
Remove the jammed paper slowly using the following procedure.
Open the rear cover to check if the paper is jammed.
Pull out the cassette and check if the paper is jammed inside the cassette area.
Stand the printer with the rear side down, holding the document cover.
Press the tabs together and pull the green cover toward you.
Check if the paper is jammed.
(If you were not doing Duplex printing, you do not have to follow this procedure.)
Close the green cover and place the printer back to a normal position.
Reconnect the power cord and power on the printer. Confirm the Alarm light is off.
Load paper back into the ASF or cassette.
Press <OK> to clear the message and continue printing. If you are printing from an application software, follow the instructions displayed on your computer.
    Top
Clearing credit card-sized paper jammed inside the printer
Credit card-sized and 4" x 6" sized paper must be loaded properly. If this media is not loaded properly, it will feed into the printer and will not exit. Credit card-sized paper should only be loaded in the ASF and in portrait orientation. 4" x 6" sized paper can be loaded in the ASF or cassette. But must be loaded portrait orientation.
If credit card-sized paper was loaded in landscape orientation in the ASF and did not eject (exit), please follow this procedure.
    Turn off the printer.
Load the same paper type that is jammed inside the printer in portrait orientation.
    Power on the printer.
The paper stock in the ASF will automatically feed the jammed paper from the printer.
To resume printing, load the paper in portrait orientation.
If 4" x 6" sized paper was loaded in landscape orientation in the cassette and did not eject (exit), please follow this procedure.
    Turn off the printer.
    Open the rear cover.
Fold in four a piece of letter-sized plain paper.
Push in the folded paper until it hits the jammed paper.
If the jammed paper is visible from inside the printer area, pull it out and proceed to step 7.
If the jammed paper cannot be pulled out, push in the folder paper from the rear so the jammed paper is in between the feed rollers.
Pull out the folded paper and close the rear cover.
Power on the printer and confirm that the Alarm light is off.  The jammed paper should automatically eject.
To resume printing, load the paper in portrait orientation.
If you still experience the same error after performing the steps above, please turn off the printer, unplug the power cord from the back and leave it out for at least 10 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it back on.  If the error persists, unfortunately, the printer will require servicing to resolve the issue.  Please click on the Contact Us link below to obtain your servicing options.

  • Unable to print with my Canon PIXMA IP 4700 and JetDirect network appliance

After many tries I decided to post my question.
I have a Canon PIXMA IP 4700 connected to the network with a Jetdirect 175X box. So I tried to add a new printer with a "HP Jetdirect Socket" port. I have previously installed the driver from the official website. The test page is staying on the spooler.
I also tried with LPD port (supported by the Jetdirect box) and IPP but nothing is working.
When the printer is directly connected with USB, it's working fine. Printing from my others Windows computers is working fine too since many months.
    Thank your for your help.

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Your problem is being caused by the Canon driver. It cannot be used when the printer is connected to the USB port of a 3rd party print server, or if shared by Windows.
The solution is to use a driver like Gutenprint or PrintFab. Gutenprint is preferred because it is free (it ships with OS X) however the iP4700 is not listed as a supported model. The iP4600 is listed so you could try selecting this model in the Print Using menu (shown as Canon PIXMA iP4600 - Gutenprint v5.2.3). If the iP4600 Gutenprint driver does not work that well then you could look at using [PrintFab|http://www.printfab.net] which does support the iP4700. It costs €49 but there is a 30 day trial so at least you can try it before committing to buying.
Another option would be to use a Airport device, like the Express, instead of the Jetdirect print server. With the printer connected to its USB port you can then use the Canon iP4700 driver on the Mac.

  • Installed a wireless canon Pixma MX432 printer back in November for use with my Mac Book Air. All was working normally until this past week when I began getting a message, "printer not connected." What is going on? Netgear Wireless N Router seems to be ok

My new canon Pixma MX432 printer is not printing. It was printing fine until about ten days ago. I use a Netgear Wireless N router, which is also new. What do I need to do. I get a message when trying to print that says "printer not connected." In addition, my old Gateway laptop will still print fine apparently because it has a cable connection to the printer. Puzzled!

Have you tried rebooting the router? I would unplug it, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. Be sure you know the password etc. if that doesn't work, try unplugging and rebooting the printer. Good luck!
