Canon pixma mp560 printer/scanner doesn't work wirelessly

I have a canon mp560 printer/scanner. It works fine w/ my mac when I'm plugged in w/ the usb but then goes offline and won't print when I try to go wireless. I've reinstalled the software and everything functions fine, but the printer and scanner will not run wirelessly. I've tried the canon website and have not been able to solve the problem. Does this have something to do w/ bonjour? I'm relatively new to macs. This printer runs wirelesly w/out problem on my pc. Thanks for any help.

Your problem is being caused by sharing this printer via USB. The UFR2 driver for Mac causes problems when being shared, even to other Mac's. Since the MF has an Ethernet port you would be better suited to buying an Ethernet hub and connecting all computers and the printer to this hub.
As for the scanning, I don't believe there is a network scanning application for Mac. AFAIK the MF ScanGear for OS X is for USB only so you would need to have the MF connected to the Mac for scanning - unless it has a Send function which would allow you to send a scan to a shared folder on the Mac. But looking at the spec pages for this model I could not tell if it has this feature.

The finger print scanner doesn't work 90% of the time please help! I have tried everything.

Dose any one else have problems with the iPhone 5s finger print scanner??
I've tried rescanning, different fingers, scanning different ways. But 95% of the time it just won't work. It is soooo frustring!! I would have saved a bunch of $ and bought a 5 or 5c if I wanted a phone that didn't fingerprint scan. has any one got advice that can help? It would be appreciated. I do work with my hands ( manual labour) but it's not like I tear up my fingers every day. Any help would be appreciated.

If any one is still reading this thread you would know that I've been having problems with my finger print scanner. Well it turns out that the issue is not with the 5s but with my fingers. My fingers are too big for the scanner, so if your having trouble with your scanner try using just the very tip of your finger. I did a lot of research on my issue and found nothing suggesting this. My brother had the idea that this might be the problem and turns out he was right. Since rescanning the tip of my finger I have 100% success rate and am very happy with my new phone. Thanks again for all the help I got from people on this issue.

Hi - my problem relates to my Canon Pixma MP560 printer. Other solutions found in the community threads have not helped.

Like other community users that have encountered this in the past, all was well until about 3 months ago when I started to get a communication error message intermittently. I managed to resolve this by following the solutions I managed to find in the community posts however, this problem has now started again but worse in that once I have resolved, I print one document and the very next time I try to print, I get the error message and have to remove and reinstall the printer to get it going again - really frustrating. I know the wi-fi works fine as all other devices linked through it work as required. The printer itself is OK because we can print with no problems from a Windows laptop we have. Haven't been able to find any other posts where the problem is similar so hope someone out there can help and if you can, I would really appreciate instuctions to be in simple terms as I am really not technically astute!

Airport Extreme connects to Epson all in one printer, scanner doesn't work

I got a new Airport Extreme to connect my all-in-one printer, copier, scanner Epson CX8400. Connecting the printer feature to my MacBook Pro and my HP laptop was very easy, however can't get the scanning feature to work. Has anyone had this same issue? Do you know how to solve it other than plugging the USB cable directly to the computer? thanks!

Does the Epson CX8400 support scanning over WiFi/Bonjour? I know my two HP Photosmart printers and my Epson I have do not support scanning over WiFi/Bonjour, despite the fact that they support printing functionality.

How can I get iMac to recognize Canon Pixma mp990 printer wirelessly?

Although my Canon Pixma MP990 printer/scanner shows I've properly set it up for wifi, and the blue wifi light illuminates on the printer, my iMac now refuses to recognize that my printer is connected. Imac now shows the printer as offline. When the printer was set up for corded/wired connection, the Imac worked fine with it. How can I get iMac to recognize the wireless printer setup? Thanks!

Then click Wireless Help
Make sure the printer is recognized in System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print
If not, download and install the drivers designated for the mp990 model.
In the System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print window, click + (plus) to add the printer.

having difficulty configuring a canon pixma MP560 printer to my macbook. have used installation disc as supplied by canon however no joy. probably something simple however can anyone help?

Are you connecting the printer directly to your Mac via USB cable? If you are, then the MP560 should automatically add to your Printers list inside the System Preferences > Print & Fax application. If this is not occurring, you can open Print & Fax, click the + button to add and select the Default view. The MP560 should been seen in this view. If you don't see it, then there could be a problem with the USB cable you are using to connect the printer to the Mac. If you do see the printer, but when you select it the Print Using menu does not change to Canon MP560 series, then something has gone wrong with the printer driver installation (there is every chance that the drivers included with the printer are not up-to-date and won't work on Snow Leopard). In this case I would suggest you get the latest drivers from the Canon Australia web site.
Anyway, let me know how you go with the above information and reply if needed.

Canon pixus / canon pixma ip100 printer

I'm trying to get a Canon Pixma iP100 printer connected by usb working with my arch linux.
cups 2.0.1-1
linux 3.18.4-1
for this I created and installed the following packages from the AUR repo
cnijfilter-common
cnijfilter-ip100
and installed the printer over the cups web interface.
the printer is detected as usb://Canon/ip100%20series?serial=123456 as soon as I connect it by usb.
when I first tried to print a test page, there was an error about the missing file /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstocanonij so I copied it from the pkg folder to this location.
when I now try to print the test page, the status is changing to "Sending data to printer" and the print job disappears after a short time. But the printer isn't doing a thing.
I also tried to print over the console
lp -d Canon_iP100_series -oraw out.txt
but the only thing that happens is that the printer's status led is blinking once.

Installed a wireless canon Pixma MX432 printer back in November for use with my Mac Book Air. All was working normally until this past week when I began getting a message, "printer not connected." What is going on? Netgear Wireless N Router seems to be ok

My new canon Pixma MX432 printer is not printing. It was printing fine until about ten days ago. I use a Netgear Wireless N router, which is also new. What do I need to do. I get a message when trying to print that says "printer not connected." In addition, my old Gateway laptop will still print fine apparently because it has a cable connection to the printer. Puzzled!

Have you tried rebooting the router? I would unplug it, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. Be sure you know the password etc. if that doesn't work, try unplugging and rebooting the printer. Good luck!

I just purchased and installed a Canon Pixma MG5220 printer/copier/scanner to my PC desktop with Windows XP. It works fine. It has been successfully installed on my network and I am able to use it with my laptop running VISTA. However, I am trying to connect it to my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8 and I am not having much luck. I can see it as one of the printer choices when attempting to print; however, I get the following message:

Let me understand:
- you have purchased named canon, which is conencted to your PC running windows xp
- downloaded driver for win xp, and canon works fine
- canon is connected to that PC via USB
- that Canon is also activated as network printer, by allowing print sharing in windows; how did you set that option?
- now, you are in Mac OS x 10.6.8, downloaded Canon driver for Mac OS X, installed it, detected printer on the network, printer was installed; was it detected as attached to that PC running win XP? or not?
or you set canon by being connected to your mac directly via USB?
Now, there are some questions you should answer as some details are missing, and your initial text is not clear. Can you print if Canon is connected directly to your mac? did you try that? if not, do it before answering.

There are two Applications folders: /Applications (in the root level of the hard drive) and ~/Applications (in your user folder).
If you have a look at the bottom part of the screenshot, you can see where Chess is stored, and it indicates that it's stored in /Applications, so you are looking for applications in the wrong folder.
Open a Finder window, go to Finder menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Sidebar, and mark Applications. Then, close the Preferences window and you will be able to access to the Applications folder in the Finder sidebar. Another option would be to go to View menu (on the menu bar) and type:
/Applications

resolve my printer problem.
with Yosemite, Apple have upgraded CUPS to 2.0, and CUPS work different. So you need to change one think in configuration.
open terminal, and write the following commands:
sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
you asked for the password for superuser
sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
after this check in print queue if the printer is ready and not in pause mode.
The printer now should work, if the printer only print in B&W you need to change the configuration in CUPS web interface.
try http://localhost:631/ ; if you receive a error telling the web interface is disabled, type in terminal services the following
cupsctl WebInterface=yes
after this try again http://localhost:631/
after this choose in the web page "Adding Printers and Classes", bellow the CUPS for Administrators title.
in the new page, choose manage printers; after this choose your printer.
in the page of printer choose from the second combobox the option "set default options";
in the option page, change the color mode from monochrome to color, and save hitting the button "set default option", you be asked for a user and password with admin privileges.
After this your print is ok.

My Canon Pixma iP8500 printer has stopped working with Mavericks

Hi, my Canon Pixma iP8500 printer has stopped working in the past few days and I made no alterations that could explain why this might happen. I am using OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks on a Mac Pro desktop computer. I can print a test page when selecting it on my Canon Printer Utility from my desktop so it seems that there is contact between the computer and the printer but it will not print from iPhoto, Preview or Mail. When I select Print from any of these nothing happens and there is nothing on the Print List. I have checked the Printers & Scanners in my System Preferences and my Canon iP8500 is listed and highlighted as Idle Default and Share this printer is ticked. I have tried deleting this printer then adding it but it still will not print. I would appreciate any helpful suggestions bearing in mind that I am fairly elderly and have a limited knowledge of IT and some of the terminology.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.
Any devices that previously appeared in your Printer List and Fax List will need to be added again after resetting the printing system.
Resetting the printing system in Mac OS X 10.5.x+++
    1.    To use the Reset Printing System feature in Mac OS X 10.5.x, follow these steps:
    2.    Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
    3.    Choose Print & Fax from the View menu.
    4.    Control-click on list of printers on the left side of the window, then choose "Reset printing system" from the contextual menu. If you don't see a list of printers, Control-click on the text "Click + to add a printer or fax" and select "Reset printing system..."       As an alternative, if you currently have one or more printers listed, you can Option-click the "-" (Remove printer) button.
