Canon printer driver won't load

I just purchased a Canon PIXMA iP6700D photo printer. The driver installation disk (Easy Setup icon) takes me past the administrator login, but does not install the driver. Also tried installing from the driver folder on the CD, same thing. So, thinking the CD-ROM might be defective, I downloaded the driver from canon's site; same thing.
After checking the posts here regarding problems with drivers, I followed the procedure to get rid of old drivers in the Library folder and restart. No go.
Any ideas? Thanks!
G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   2.0 Gz

Thanks, after posting my question I called Canon tech support, and that was their solution as well. I did that, and I'm happily printing now! What a relief.

  • Driver won't load

I created a new boot cd with the BroadCom 57xx driver on it but the driver
won't load. When I type the command in to load the driver it says that the
file doesn't exist. If I change to the path it says it is getting the file
from and load the file from there it loads. Is there anything I can do to
get it to load at boot from the CD without having to load in manually?

  • "SM Bus Controller" Driver Won't Load

    Hello all, newby here,
Building a new computer(it's been a couple years since the last one) and at the last minute chose a MSI MB over my usual ASUS.
    p35 Neo2- FR
    Core 2 Quad Q6600, LGA 775, 2.40 GHz
    2- 2GB Buffalo Certified DDR2 Dimm, 667Mhz, unbuffered, Non-EEC
PNY NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500, 256Mb
    Seagate 250GB sata2 16m
    Antec Solo case, sweet!
    Antec Truepower Trio, 550 watt, ATX12v v2.2 & EPS12v
    Bios   AMI V1.1  5/11/2007
    Win XP Pro 64
    ver. 5.2.3790 SP1 build 3790
So when loading the OS the MSI support CD doesn't support the 64 bit OS, so had to manually load the NIC driver and the sound driver.
but in device mangler there's still one driver that won't load
    "SM bus controller"
From within device manager got it to look at the entire MSI support CD but it still won't load, Google is no help either and can't find the P35 chipset drivers at Intel either, I'm guessing this is a chipset driver, the "system management bus controller"?
    thanks in advance

Here are the Intel Chipset drivers for your board: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1261
It's the last one at the bottom of the page.
How come I didn't see that!! I used the other drivers on that page, dohhh. I got the drivers from the Intel auto loader on their site. After loading them the yellow question mark went away for the SM bus controller but then lost all the USB root hubs and the USB mouse, had to remove and re-install them all with the keyboard. Man this build is a real education.

  • Canon printer driver will not install

I am trying to install a canon s9000 printer driver on my ibook g4. It goes through almost the entire installation process and then afterwards says there were errors installing.
I was printing just fine before using my airport. But then suddenly i was unable to print one day. So I deleted my printers in the printer setup utility I then chose add a new printer and it would not let me choose the s9000. It basically came up in my rendevous printer list I would select it, and then an error box came up. So I redownloaded the driver from Canon, but now it wont install.
    HELP!!!!

    Hi,
    Just read your post...
I have encountered same prob with canon iP4200. Can install driver on iBooks but not desktop iMac G5. Soooooo frustrating.
    Canon and apple little help.
Any suggestions, please (if you have solved your problem)?
    Thanks

  • Print driver won't open

I have just downloaded a printer driver for sublimation printing from a reputable firm called Sawgrass, a leader in the sublimation industry.
Upon double clicking on the driver, I get the following message: "Sublijet-R SGG7100DN (American).pkg" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developler.
I have also held down the "control" key then clicked on open, eventually it brings me back to the same error message. Obviously, without the print driver I will be unable to print out my designs.
Any help would greatly be appreciated!

See the heading "How to open an app from a unidentified developer" on this support page. The instructions apply to Installer packages and other installable items as well as applications.

  • Canon print driver: how to print pure black only

We love our MP610 printer. But on Mac OS 10.5.8 Leopard we cannot figure out how to print black-only using the big cartridge. We've been using grayscale, but this does not give true blacks, and we suspect is using color ink + the small black cartidge.
Our goal is simply to conserve the expensive color cartridges, only using color when it is needed.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Judging by my Canon printer, the large black cartridge is for solid black only: it doesn't do grayscale. As you've found, grayscale is handled by the colour set. 'Solid black' would apply to text and objects such as lines and rectangles where the colour has been set to full black, not to black within colour or grayscale images.

  • Printer Drivers won't load on Macbook Pro

I just purchased a canon image class d530, and when I try to load the driver I get the error message "Cannot install on this version of the operating system you are using". It says it should work for Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later and I have Mac OS X 10.10.1. What can I try to get a driver to load so the printer is usable with my computer?

Not sure for sure because I just read it rather than
experienced it myself but it is my understanding that
the Academic version does not qualify for free
    upgrades.
So you might be stuck with what you have - try
    calling Applecare and see...
Not true. Academic versions and retail versions are exactly the same regarding the software. The only difference is price.

  • Canon Printer suddenly won't print pdfs

All of sudden it won't print pdfs. It will print from Pages, Textedit etc but if I try and Print a PDF I get a Canon Error Number : 94 A paper size that cannot be fed from the cassette was selected. Load paper in the auto sheet feeder, and press the Paper Feed Switch on the printer. Printing will restart. That's as far as it goes. Tried reinstalling the drivers (last update from Canon was June 09). Also reinstalled Acrobat Reader with no luck.

Nothing changed. But since then using AppZapper I removed all the Adobe stuff I have. Then went into Libraries and removed Adobe folder. Then went to print and it works. So it must be an Adobe issue. Don't know what but if I can read and print pdfs without Adobe installed that will do me. Strange. Uses Preview of course.

  • New Printer Drivers won't load in Mac App Store

    Hi!
I've recently update my mid-2014 rMBP to the Final release of Yosemite, up from the Yosemite Public Beta 6. I've been able, during the beta phase to add my home printer (an HP OfficeJet 4500) after (or before?) the Mac App Store had downloaded the required HP drivers (3.3.1).
Now, however, I'm trying to add an HP LaserJet 1200 series (whose drivers are in the official list). I've tried several times, asked the MAS to check for new updates a thousand times but still it won't download any new printer drivers.
When adding the printer and selecting the driver from the list of drivers bundled with OS X, I could see various printers (with a large number of HP printers who use the aforementioned 3.0 drivers which have been downloaded already), but no HP LaserJet 1200. I don't have them because they're not the same as the 3.0 ones. On my sister's 2010 MBP, which didn't go through the beta testing phase, I found what seems to be all the drivers from the list (at least there was the one for the 1200 Series).
So my question is, how do I somehow "trigger" the MAS to download the required drivers (19.8) ? Is anyone else having troubles installing printer drivers?

Thank you for your quick reply! I've deleted the hp folder (and moved the PPD relating to the printer which is already installed, the OfficeJet, just to see if it would help) and had the MAS check for new updates. No success yet, though.
However there's a slight misunderstanding regarding which drivers I'm trying to install : I already have the 3.3.1 drivers (for the OfficeJet) but the drivers which won't download are the 19.8 for the LaserJet printer. are these separately downloadable too?

  • Mac Pro DVD drive won't load some software discs

I just bought two sets of Photoshop Elements, and my 2007 Mac Pro failed to recognize all six DVDs. I'm realizing I've had this problem with a few software discs in recent years, including some Final Cut Studio install discs. CDs and regular DVDs work fine - just some software DVDs are eventually ejected by the computer without showing up on the desktop. I have tried cleaning the drive with a disc cleaner.
My way around it has been to put these discs in my PC, make a copy, and then these copies load fine in my Mac. But it's a nuisance, and my PC won't be around forever.
Can anyone suggest what the problem might be? Or a decent external drive (Blu-ray?) that I might want to replace it with?
    Thanks.

I'll try that tomorrow. Thinking it could also be:
    1)  The PRAMM battery. found info on that they can wear out close to 5 years. This MAC PRO is close to that now.  And I use a lot of power on it.
    2) MAC PRO is plugged into a  SURGE PROTECTOR, instead of right into the wall outlet.
    3) Been doing a lot of FORCE QUITS and HARD BOOT -- unplugging it directly when it wouldn't shut down soon enough --  lately this past year.
I just assumed that this MAC PRO with the XEON QUAD CORE etc., was a heavy duty enough NLE,
that i wouldn't have these problems. It's not fully loaded with all the chips it can carry...and I don't have near enough external terabyte hard drives for storing video and audio files to edit. I've been storing wayyy too much
on the internal hard dives and just have to stop that.
I noticed these past few days that much of the LETTERING for hard drive icons and folders' titles
were starting to look in OVERLAPPING of the lettering. That was my first hint that  something was up.

  • Has any body tried using canon printer driver with Mac OS X v10.7. I just bought a new printer only finding out that I cannot use it. Any suggestions. Thanks

I just bought a canon pixma iX6540 printer only to find out that the driver is not supported. I am using Mac OS X v10.7. Can someone help please. Thanks

Although it mentions OS 10.6 on the link, have you tried downloading the latest drivers - if you haven't already - from the Apple Support site, maybe they'll work:

  • Non-native printer driver would not load

    Hi,
I have a PowerPC G4 and two printers, an Epson Photo R220 and an Epson C60. The OS is 10.4.8. Several days ago I reset my printing (using the printer setup utility) and then tried to reload the Epson drivers. The drivers from Epson would not load. The only drivers that do load are the ones that apparently come with the OS and are labeled with ' ... Gimp-print v5.0.0-beta2'. These drivers do not produce the same quality of printing as the Epson drivers I had before.
Downloading the most recent driver from Epson did not help, neither did any order of resetting the printer utility, re-installing, and rebooting the computer.
The gang at the local Apple Store could not solve the problem either!
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your reply.
What I came to was that I needed to uninstall the direct usb driver set up I had made for my printer and then start from scratch. While I was doing this (which turned out to be very difficult) with an HP tech he mentioned an HP wireless printer that he thought would work much better for what I wanted.
So I exchanged the HP officejet Pro 5400 for a DeskJet 6980 and this is a great solution, because I don't even have to connect through the Airport with a USB cable. It's all wireless and the quality of the printer is good and price is reasonable. Set up was difficult but HP has good tech support even for mac and they helped me out.
Now if any in my office wants to add this printer it's available as a bonjour printer and they don't even have to load to drivers.

  • Canon printer driver update - iMac no longer boots up

This morning my Mac displayed an update for my Canon MP560 printer. After the download and install my Mac no longer boots, it just hangs on the white apple logo. I have left it for ages and it rebooted itself but hangs again.

Booted from DVD and did repair permissions. Seems to have sorted it out now.

  • Hp deskjet 3520 print driver won't install

I bought an HP Deskjet 3520 printer today which was advertised as compatible with OSX 10.7, however when I go to add the printer I get the error "The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer’s manufacturer for the latest software."
I have the latest driver from HP, I just downloaded it today.
I deleted my old HP printer from Print & Scan in the System Preferences and uinstalled the old HP printer using the HP uninstall software.
When adding the printer it said there was an update available from Apple, which it downloaded but then gave the same software unavailable error.
I can scan with the printer but not print.
I also have a wireless HP Laser printer on my home network which is a couple of years old.

Have you tried selecting the software yourself rather than letting it add it for you? This usually helps.
    1) Go to Select Printer Software in the drop down menu.
    2) Type in the name and model of your printer: HP Deskjet 3520.

  • External Hard Drive won't load, Disk Utility and System Profiler crashes,

I've had the WD 1TB Passport for Mac for about a year now and as of this afternoon, my MacBook Pro stopped recognizing it. It's encrypted so when I plugged it in, my computer asked me for my password, but then it said there was an error and wouldn't mount. After restarting the computer, the password prompt for my external drive didn't even pop up. I can hear the hard drive spinning and the light flashes for a good 30 seconds before going solid. I have tested my USB ports with flash drives and they are reading them just fine. I tried to run  Disk Utility but it goes into the never-ending loading mode. So then I go to the "About my Mac" page and clicked on storage, and the profiler crashed (never-ending loading). Can anyone help me? It was working just fine up until today. I even tried different Micro USB chords on it. This drive is incredibly important to me and I would appreciate not having to erase anything from it (kinda defeats the purpose of backing up a computer if the external hard drive is the one needing the backup).
    I have a
    Mid 2010 13in MacBook Pro
    OS X 10.8.2
    1TB WD Passport for Mac
