Can u print without AirPrint printer if you have a wireless printer? I have a fairly new canon printer, MP495 series all in one, and was wondering if there is anyway to print wirelessly to it or if I have to buy another printer that is airprint compatible? I also have an iPhone 4s & would like tone able to print wirelessly from it also. If I need to get a new printer can you please let me know the best options available.
    Thank you for your help,

Check the App Store to see if the printer manufacture offers an app to allow you to print to that printer. If you have a Mac, you might also look at Printopia.

  • How can I print from ipad to non wireless printer?

How can I print from ipad to non wireless printer.
....been trying to save document to pc to print.... but cant find a way to do so.....?

Actually you can print to a non wireless printer if you have apps on the iPad and your computer that will do this and as long as you can set up a WiFi network or the iPad and the computer are already on the same network.
I Am running an old OSX version on my iMac at work (Tiger OSX 10.4.11) and I have an app on my iPad called Save2 pdf. I downloaded a helper app on the Mac called WePrint. I do not have WiFi at work, but I create a WiFi network using the Ethernet connection to the Mac that my iPad can also join. As long as I can send the file/text/document to the Save2pdf app, I can print it on my old HP LaserWriter1012 which is not a wireless printer. This uses the Mac as the print server and the WePrint app on the Mac sends the doecument to the printer.
It's not a very elegant solution, and it is a little convoluted, but it does work.

  • Printing help.  My Epson wireless printer won't print.  Airport seems OK.  I get the following message.../Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Cont ents/MacOS/rastertoescpII failed.  What am I missing?

I can't get my Epson wireless printer to print.  All seems well.  Turned on and off.  Green lights abound.  My computer seems to see the printer.
    Error message as follows:
    /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Contents/MacOS/ rastertoescpII failed
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

You did not tell us how you installed the printer so it's a little tough to troubleshoot. Please carefully look over Printing Overview OS X Lion for instructions on how to add a printer. Also look on Printer and scanner software for Snow Leopard & Lion to see if your printer is compatible with OS X.
Finally PLEASE update your profile using the Profile Update link.

  • Print from shell to HP wireless printer

I've been having trouble printing to my HP wireless (P1102W) printer from either of my 2 Macs. As a developer I spend a lot of time in the shell (bash) and have been quite happy with the command-line tools available. One of things I would like to do is print from the shell - either interactively or from a shell script.
The only ways I know how to do this involve using 'lp' or 'lpr' and I'm sure they work the way they are supposed to. Except apparently if you try to print to an HP printer like mine. It DOES print fine from any other applications.
When I send a print job to the printer from my Macbook Air shell or the iMac shell, a window pops up on my iMac telling me to load paper in the manual feed tray and press 'Enter'. When I press 'Enter'  it prints the job. I'm trying to avoid this if possible.
    Example:
    grep '006.' music.trxt | lp
Email to HP Support came back with this:
"We are sorry to let you know that HP Printers are designed to print from Graphical User Interface applications. For example, the applications from which you can select File-> Print to open a print window for further options. So you are able to print from the other applications. Regarding printing from the shell, we do not have the required expertise since this directly deals with the MAC operating system. Hence, I would request you to contact the Apple support team for more information."
    Hence my posting here.
Does anyone have any similar problems?
    Have you found a work-around?
Is there a way to insert a form-feed or carriage-return on the command line as part of the print command? I've tried using the Ctrl-V - insert_a_command trick but no joy.
I love my iMac but this is driving me crazy. Thanks for any suggestions / help.

    Good news and bad news:
With this as one option for my printer
    ColorModel/Color Model: *RGB RGBW
    This command
    lpoptions -d HP_Deskjet_F4200_series -o ColorModel=RGBW
does change the lpotion output to
    ColorModel/Color Model: RGB *RGBW
Notice the asterisk switched from RGB to RGBW
The bad news is if the option as reported by lpoption only has one setting it can;t be changed (at least I wasn;t able to). So in my case the  paperfeed is
    HPPaperSource/Source: *Tray1
and no matter what I tried I could not switch it to anything else.
So even if this is the source of your printers behavior there may not be anything you can do about it, at least from this point.
It is odd that the printer would only have a manual feed option as reported by CUPS. The printer does work normally from the GUI, correct? And there are no switches/settings on the printer for this?
Something else to try, as a test, is to connect the printer directly to the system and see if anything changes. I know with my printer hooked up through the Airport I cannot get to the ink levels and such or run any maintenance commands. I have to directly connect it to do that.
    Sorry I don;t have more,
    regards

  • Is there a way to print from pages to a wireless printer that is not AirPrint capable. I have a HP C4580

I have a HP C4580 wireless printer. It is not AirPrint capable. I now do all my work on iPad via pages. I have an HP App HP home and biz, it finds my printer no problems and allows me to print photos with ease. However pages still cannot find a printer. Any thoughts?

I had a related problem, now solved.  But this discussion is relevant to me.  Is there a difference between ePrint and ePrint for Home and Biz?  On my iPad, I installed what I believe is just ePrint  -- got it from Apple Apps or iTunes store -- was free. I am able to print on my HP Photosmart 6180 using that app.  Is there a "better" HP app that should have on my iPad?  And how can I find out just what i have (including the version).  ePrint is not listed with other the apps on my iPad "settings" page.

  • Printer Update 2.16 Killed Wireless Printing on my Epson SX600FW

I have been using an Epson SX600FW for several years and I don't remember having a problem with it until I recently allowed Software Update to install Printer Update 2.16 and since then I have been unable to print via wireless. I can still print via USB but I won't bore you with how much of a nuisance it is for me to have to do this but it is a major pain.
When I try to print via wireless, everything looks normal until after the document has spooled and then the printer window simply says 'looking for printer'.
In Preferences, the printer looks OK with a small green circle next to it but in the printer's utility, it states that the printer is not responding even though it gives ink levels.
I have tried installing the drivers from Epson's site - they are dated 2008 so I doubt they are the latest but they didn't work anyway. Even after that, Software Update doesn't seem to think that the old drivers need updating.
I have read on here of other people's problems with this update not just with Epson printers. Is there any way to revert to how my Mac was a week ago without doing a full Time Machine restore?
I'm pretty annoyed that an update has broken something which has worked for years.

    I have a solution
I have a workforce 850 but encountered the same problem. Here's the steps I took to fix:
Went to the printer. and printed a network connection report. (the printer should of course be connected to your wireles network). Obtain the IP address
    Turn off the printer.
Go to Apple menu (upper left on desktop) > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. Delete the print queue and remove the printer by clicking on the button under the list of printers. Click OK to confirm the removal.
Press the CTRL button on the keyboard and click on the white box on the left (where the printers should be listed) and click on Reset Printing System. (Note: This step deletes all installed printers on the list. You will need to re-add all printers installed on this computer)
Turn on the printer. Click the   button. The system should automatically detect the printer. Click the Add button and try to print.
If the printer doesn't show after the Reset, click the IP tab and enter the IP address obtained in step one
Your printer should now show on the USE pulldown menu. Click Add and try to print

  • Unable to Delete Older Printing Presets -- Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless Printer with OSX v10.6.4

I find that, after upgrading to the latest Officejet Pro 8000 A809 (989005) printer driver, I am not able to delete Presets that were created with earlier versions of the Apple/HP supplied printer driver.  I am using OSX v10.6.4 and v2.0.3 of the HP Printer Driver.
When I try to print from an application the Presets that had been previously created appear on the menu, but 'Delete" is not available as an option for any of those older Presets.
If I create a new Preset, it appears in a section of the menu listing below the Presets created by earlier versions, and the Delete option is available to remove any Presets made with v2.0.3 of the driver.
I would like to delete the earlier Presets, since are no longer necessary given the changes that have been introduced in the latest versions of the HP printer driver.

If you have HP software for pre-10.6 Snow Leopard, you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option.  Also, you do not need the hp software at all - both print and scan drivers are built into the OS.  I'd recommend uninstalling, but make sure to do it this way:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Restart your Mac
    Now, run a Software Update.
Next, remove and re-install the printer in System Preferences, Print & Fax.
You do not need the software now since Snow Leopard has both print & scan drivers built-in. Scan from Preview or Image Capture apps. Scanning from the front panel of the printer does not yet work.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Under MacBookAir OS X Lion 10.7.5 and I am unable to open printer utility for setting up wireless printer??? who van help me Thanks

I try to set up my printer HPLaserP1102w with a Wi-Fi connrection with AirPort Utility version 6.1
I have installed ans uninstall via /library/printer/lHPlaser with no results.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thanks

Thank you - that all makes sense. It is, indeed, exactly what I did when I upgraded.
I'm also writing this on the machine that crashed a few minutes ago (I posted the crash in another thread). I got back with a 'safe boot' - as I have done a few times before.
I've also de-installed little snitch (and then done a safe-boot & then re-boot ) since that seemed involved. I de-installed Adobe flash, since that seemed to be a problem - I then re-installed the later, apparently fixed, flash. The most recent crashes don't seeme to have a problem with flash any more.
I've posted the various ( generally different ) crashes. I also posted a summary of the similar lines that turn up in most of the crashes.
Unfortuantely, I'm actually trying to use the machine to meet some urgent deadlines and all this is not making it at all easy.
I had had great hopes for 10.7.2 - I thought that the crashes must be pretty common, so would have a common aetiology. There do seem to have been some fundamental changes to the file sytem and to the video interface (that seems to cause problems to brand new iMacs as well as to my 2009 iMac).

  • Wireless Printing to HP Officejet 6500 E709n

I reciently changed from Droid to Iphone 5.
Using droid mobil hot spot I could connect wirelessly to my computers and my printer HP Officejet 6500 E709n.
With the Iphone 5 hot spot I can connect to my computers but with the HP printed I can see the modem during the wireless set up
but when I enter the WPA Passphrase it will not connect. I get an error print out from the HP noting, MAC address filtering may be enabled on the wireless router (I Phone5) This can prevent you HP printer from connecting to the wireless network during setup. Temperoraly disable the MAC Address filtering on the wireless router then run wireless network setup to configure the printer.
Anyone have a fix to this.

With an iphone the native printing is built in. no set up per se except your iphone has to be on the home network which you connect to via your settings then click on wifi then it will search for your home network. If you see your home network ssid then click it then on connect. if it has a pass phrase it will request it, then it will connect.
When you are looking at a web page or an email on the iphone you need only click on the circular arrow. Select print and then select the wireless printer from the selections found. in my house I use an hp D410a All in one and a new Canon Pixma 3220 which is set up on my home network. I select the printer I want and it prints via air print .
You do not need an HP Printing app for the Apple iPhone. As long as you have set up the HP Printer or any wireless printer to your network the iPhone will print to it. No special drivers are necessary.
Hope that helped? if not post back.

  • HP webservices tab not available when using HP Jetdirect 2700w wireless print server

I recently bought HP Laserjet Enterprise 500 m551 dn color laser printer with HP jetdirect 2700w wireless print server ( one day old at this time).
I was able to configure the device and enable/ use eprint services using the embedded server with a wired connection.
However when I attach a the mentioned wireless print server, the "Webservices" tab disappears from the configuration website, the printer reports that the eprint services are not enabled and ofcourse hp eprint or google cloud print do not work. The printer appears offline at eprintcenter. Everything else works fine.
On the product website for the wireless server, it clearly states that this is compatible with eprint services.
    What am I doing wrong.

This seems to be a commercial product. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!

  • Wireless printing works with 10.5.1 but not with 10.5.8 - help?

    TIA
In 10.5.1 adding my HP printer and printing wirelessly to it was no problem. I upgraded with the Combo 10.5.8, used the printer set up procedure and my printer does not show up in the printer window.
I now wireless print to my HP printer by booting up in 10.4.11. I.O.W., it is not my HP printer.
I have searched the net for similar problems and did not find any. I have downloaded and installed, again, the HP drivers.
In 10.5.8, I can see and select the Adobe PDF printer and, in the printer setup window, I can select my HP printer driver (I.O.W., the driver is installed). The Adobe PDF printer works.

    Hi Leonard,
Your printer is indeed connected via Ethernet and your wireless router provides the wireless capabilities to your MacBook Pro. (That is, your printer is NOT a wireless printer.) This is exactly how my network is setup as I stated in my post on February 26.
    Here what I suggest...
Print a test page from the HP 4MV printer as follows:
    (a) Press the On Line button so the light goes out
    (b) Press the Menu button until the display shows TEST MENU
    (c) Pres the Item button until the display shows SELF TEST
    (d) Press the Enter button. The display will show 06 PRINTING TEST and after 30 seconds, the test page prints
The test page will show a boxed section. The third column is TCP/IP information and should show the printer's IP Address (ex. 192.168.1.xxx), subnet mask (255.255.255.0), and gateway (ex. 192.168.1.1). The gateway should be that of your router and the first three sets of numbers of the printer's IP address are the same as the router.
Now, put the printer back On Line.
Add printer using IP with the LPD protocol (This is for Leopard but should be similar with Snow Leopard)
Launch System Preferences and click on Print & Fax
    Click the plus ( + ) symbol
    Click IP
Protocol: select Line Printer Daemon – LPD (click for a pop-down list of options)
Address: type in the IP address shown on the printer self test page
Queue: you can leave it blank
Now, the system will look for the IP and find a corresponding match PPD
If everything is correct, click the Add button.
(In my case, "Name" automatically fills with the IP address that I input for address and "Printing Using" auto finds a PPD for my printer. I also have an additional setup for my HP 4MV using a third-party PPD and in that case, I manually "Select a driver to use” by clicking on whatever the system automatically selected.)
BTW: You may want to take a look at what print guru, Greg Sahli says in another thread at
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2117938&tstart=0
    Hope this helps.

  • ABLE TO PRINT IMAGES, UNABLE TO PRINT BOOKS!

I saw a message a while back with the same problem, but with no answer. Please help! I can print images, but i can't print a book's page, unless there's only text in the page!
    Thank you for your help!
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Aperture.
    Print image: YES
    Print book: NO
Print book page with text only: YES
Print book page with image: NO
Print book page with text and image: NO
Generated PDF from within Aperture, then tried printing it: same behaviour (got prints only for pages with text only).
Any other PDFs in my computer print fine, whether pages with images, photos, text or combination of all of them.
It seems that aperture is not only unable to print from its own system, but it inherits those flaws to the PDFs it generates as well.
    PLEASE HELP!
    Thank you.
