  • I just purchased a Canon Pro 100 printer.

Installation went well.  I have PC with Win 7, using CS6.  I calibrate my monitor with Spyder Monkey 3.  I can take my files to a custom printer in the Seattle area and my print matches my file 99% of the time (night sky images need a little further adjusting).  I'm using Canon Paper.  My prints are coming out a little dark, or not quite as bright as what's on the monitor.  I understand that there may not be an exact match, but I was hoping for better.  I'm not a real technical type, but with good instructions I can get the job done.  Is there something more I need to do, or can do, to get a closer match to my monitor?  I really don't want to go through a lot of custom calibrations with custom profiles if I can avoid it.
I'm printing staight from CS6 (I have LR4, but don't use it a lot).  Selected the right paper; using CS6 for color management (using monitor profile in CS6).

Hi. D50 is the color temperature and the other number is monitor brightness. Do you have a camera club in your town? Maybe you could contact them. Meanwhile, try setting your monitor brightness and contrast to 50 percent and see if that gives more pleasing results.

  • Where do I find the ICC profile for my new Canon Pro-100 printer?

I  downloaded ICC profiles for several different papers, but for optimum color management, do I not also need a ICC profile for the printer itself? Very new to this......I have my ColorMunki and I use Photoshop and Lightroom. Trying to get everything coordinated properly...........
    Thanks for the help,
    Laura Mowrey

If you downloaded ICC profiles for papers they should be for the Pro-100. The paper vendor prints a known pattern of colors using a Pro-100 and then uses a device to analyze the print. The ICC profile contains the correction info that adjusts the printer to make the prints look like the known color pattern.
The Color Munki will calibrate your monitor to make sure that the colors you see are correct.
I suggest you calibrate the monitor to,D50 at 80-90 lumens/m^2.

  • Canon Pro-100 13x19" Prints - Images suddently printing misaligned/slanted - Please help!

Hi, I purchased a Canon Pro-100 printer about two weeks ago and I have been printing lots of 13x19 prints on Canon brand semi-gloss paper. I have successfully printed about 60 prints, but suddenly I have an issue. The images are printing misaligned/slanted on the paper, so that there is a sliver of blank paper on the bottom right and bottom left. Here is a picture of what is happening to the prints:
    http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad79/milligangames/101_22941_zpsf995dcd2.jpg
I have tried cleaning the bottom plate, cleaning the roller, aligning the print head both manually and automatically, but nothing is helping. When I print on 8.5x11 or 4x6 paper I do not seem to encounter this issue. Does this mean the paper is feeding unevenly for some reason? Please help!

  • Lr/ Canon Pro-100 question

It may be something simple but it has me flummoxed. I try to print a 17x10" image on 19x13 paper ( Canon Photo Paper Plus SG) and I end up with just a portion of the image printed at the wrong orientation. The portion that prints is about 3x2", a tiny portion of the overall image.
I am using a Canon Pro-100 printer and printing from Lr 5. All drivers etc. are up to date.
I've been throughout he Lr. tutorials at the Adobe site so often I feel I know Juliane Kost personally. Any thoughts?

Tried that already. The guides (rulers) confirm the page size, 13x19. The image fills the requested cell size, whatever size I specify. No issue there.

  • Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer ejects 3.8 in of a 4X6 paper and prints only 2.2 in of the image printing from Photoshop CS6, I'm sure I set everything correctly - what could I be missing?

Using Mac Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) & editing & printing from Photoshop CS 6.
Have new Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer and set it up yesterday.  First thing printed was a
document from MS Word (a letter) 8.5 X 11 plain paper - this came out OK.  Next I fire up
Photoshop and open a 4 X 6 inch image to do a test print.  I set it up in the print dialog as
4X6 paper, Canon's Pro Glossy paper profile, rear tray, standard print quality, Photoshop
manages the color.  I load the paper in the rear tray close the covers and hit print.  Now, when
it starts to print the printer moves about 3.8 inches of paper out of the printer and starts printing
on the remaining 2.2 inches then spits the paper out.  It does this in Photoshop (any image it doesn't
matter), and it does it printing from Capture NX.  I have been able to get it to print on the paper
correctly using Apple's Preview program but that that's not going to do me any good.  I was on
the phone with Canon tech support for about 2 hours and they were completely puzzled suggesting
I would have to use Canon's printing apps instead to print - that doesn't do me any good either.
I want to be able to print from Photoshop.  Any one every heard of this or experienced the same
    problem? Thanks JamesD!

Hello again. I recognize that a print is good if you like it and bad if you don't, despite what others might say, but I will at least share my experiences. They might help you or others who are following this thread.
My monitor is calibrated with Spyder 3. Gamma 2.2, 6500K, 83 cd/m^2. Contrast at 50%; brightness about 52%. My monitor lets me choose blackness level - it defaults to 50%.
When I print the test image I linked to above, using Lightroom, with no adjustments, my technical output is as follows:
Middle step wedge shows twelve disticnt steps. Whitest step is color of unprinted paper.
It varies from paper to paper, but I can discerne at least the 252 step and on some papers 253 - telling me I have good highlight detail.
On the black side I discerne 8 or 10, nothing lower. (That sounds like what you are reporting).
Artistically I am very happy how my print looks - nice red strawberries, good flesh tones, etc.
One my monitor, the on-screen image is almost identical to the print. I am surprised that you can see the 2 wedge step on screen at a very similar brightness.
I also checked out this B&W test image:
    http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/bw_printing/bw-test-image-2.html
You are probably aware of this since you are printing with Print Studio Pro, but others may not be.
You can print a series of test images:
find the one that best suits your taste, enter the calibration values in PSP, and save them as a custom setting. Then, each time you want to print recall the setting.
You can do a similar thing in Lightroom using the printer driver and User Templates.
There would be some one-time trial and error to that approach.

  • I have a problem connecting  a canon Pro-100 injet printer to my iMac oS Mavericks.

I have purchased a Canon Pro-100 inkjet printer which I am trying to connect to my printer. The software on the disc was not compatible with OS Mavericks so Canon sent me the updated software. Still won't work. I get an air message which I have sent to Canon. They say it is an Apple problem which has occurred a lot recently. Aplle online chat support could not help. Has anyone else had this problem. I've got an expensive printer I can't use.

I know I have to give up on the printer and scanner- but I am going to try to find something to keep my tablet going for awhile.
Are you actually reading the responses that people are giving you?
    1. Your printer will work with Gutenprint support, possibly will work with 10.9 drivers.
    2. Epson has a scanner Yosemite driver for your scanner.
    3. And Wacom has a driver for your tablet.
You have no reason to be that miserable, all things considered.

  • Iphoto 9.6.1 deleted printer paper choices (Canon Pro 100)

    Hello,
I fear the iPhoto 9.6.1 update may have other issues with printers beside freezing, and would appreciate any suggestions -- otherwise, I'm passing on some information.
Using a MBProRet 15" with OS X 10.10.2 and a Canon Pro-100 hardwired connection (not wi-fi), I have installed iPhoto 9.6.1 yesterday and, today, in addition to suffering some printer freezes, I no longer have all the Canon paper choices that were available with the Print command pre 9.6.1 -- fine art paper, platinum, luster, matte, and all the others are gone, deleted, just not there any more in iPhoto. The Canon paper choices are still available in Aperture 3.6 (and even MS Word 14.4.8!). I have not installed any printer software updates recently.
Unfortunately, I didn't realize this until I had spent some 5+ hours earlier today re-organizing my library which will be lost if I restore the library from TM. Since I can still print quality paper from Aperture it's not a total disaster, but ... an aggravation.
Hopefully this isn't a sign of what's to come with the New & Improved Photos. Is there a permanent Opt-Out available?

Can't print to my Canon Pro-100. Get error message:There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be availableuntil you have selected a printerm and reopened any documants.

Your printer driver is having problems.
Resetting Photoshop's preferences sometimes clears it up (by removing previous print settings that the driver is supposed to read, but sometimes fails at).
Otherwise you'll have to work with Canon to figure out why the driver is misbehaving.

  • How to print from Lightroom 5 to Canon pro-100?

When I go to print from Lightroom, the colors on my screen look exactly as I want them. Then I have the color management set to Canon Pro-100 with the type of paper I am using (pro-luster), but when I get the printer setup on my screen, I get different colors (ugly colors). I then print the picture, and I get the same colors that were on my screen for the printer setup (the ugly colors).
how do I set it up that colors will be managed by Lightroom? which option do I select when under the Profile section?
    Thanks

I have the same printer, and get excellent results from it. You have two choices; you can either allow Lightroom to manage the color, or you can let the printer manage the color. You don't want both the printer and Lightroom managing the color. If that happens you get bad colors.
To allow Lightroom to manage the color you need to go into the page setup, which opens your printer driver and you need to turn off color management. You also need to set the paper size and paper type based on the profile you are using. There are usually instructions packaged with paper indicating what settings you should choose. After you have set everything appropriately in the printer driver you need to select the appropriate paper profile from the list available to you in Lightroom.
To allow the printer to manage the color, you choose that option in Lightroom. Then in the page setup you need to choose the paper type as well as the exact paper profile that you will be using.

  • Wrong Color print in Canon Pro 100?

Hi, I just bought a Canon PRO-100 and pair it up with my PC win7 and CC14
I Calibrate my Monitor Samsung TA950 with
    Datacolor Spyder4PRO
All my prints turn out orange and red .
And I did use the icc Profile .
    Pls help

    "my monitor has been calibrated"
I hear this all the time.  It is the main reason I don't like all the calibration gadgets out there.  You need to "calibrate" your monitor to what your printer is printing.  Not some spec some gadget thinks it should be.
You need to know what the bias of the printer is.  In this case Canon has put a reddish bias in it's printers to simulate a warm look.  This condition will not be accounted for in calibration software or monkeys.
Get your brightness, contrast and grey-scale right and the rest will take care of itself.  You can do the necessary corrections in LR to make up for, or leave as is, the warm tone from the printer.
BTW, you should be working in AdobeRGB or higher.  Factoid, you can not get every color to match.  This is not possibile.  You are dealing with two completely different mediums.  Light and dyes.  Adjusting any color effects other colors as well.

  • My Photoshop Elements 13 doesn't recognize my Canon PRO-10 printer. I've tried EVERYTHING. Reinstalled all my software, didn't fix anything. Can anyone help?

I have Windows 7 x64 on a desktop PC. I have Photoshop Elements 13. I bought the Canon PRO-10 PRINTER on 2/3 and at first it worked fine. Then I tried to install it as a plug-in in Elements 13, and everything went bad. When I click on AUTOMATION TOOLS it does say "Canon Easy Photo Print Pro" like it should, but when I click on that I get an error message NO SUPPORTED PRINTER FOUND. CONNECT A PRINTER SUPPORTED BY THIS SOFTWARE AND THEN INSTALL A DRIVER. I also tried the FILE > PRINT command which also said there was no printer installed.
I reinstalled the Canon software and driver. Then I called Canon. I got a real live tech person who checked everything out and asked me to print from a different program. That worked fine and he said, the printer is fine. It's a problem with Adobe. Contact them. I uninstalled my Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 and reinstalled it. But the whole situation remains the same. I can't find how to contact a live technician for help so I'm appealing to ANYONE to help me with this. If you can 't help me with the printer problem, can you tell me how to reach a live tech support person at Adobe??

    Hi,
After talking to 3 different Canon techs who didn't know anything about
this and told me it was Adobe's fault, a 4th Canon tech e-mailed me a list
of the Elements software that is "compatible" with the Canon Pro-10
printer. The list stops at Elements 12! In other words, Canon has not
written the software for their plug-in to work with Elements 13 yet. I
personally am stunned by this. Considering how popular Adobe Elements is,
you'd think Canon would be up-to-date on having their new printer's plug-in
work with Elements 13, which has been out there for some time.
Not only that, Canon's more expensive printer, the Canon PRO-100, also has
the same problem. My friend just bought one and told me the plug-in doesn't
    work with Elements 13.
I have figured out a solution, if it will be of help. I had just
uninstalled Adobe Elements 12 and when I saw that Canon's plug-in worked
with Elements 12, I quickly reinstalled it. Sure enough, when I clicked on
AUTOMATION TOOLS there was the Canon plug-in, and when I clicked on it, the
Canon print screen opened. So I decided I would do my photo editing in
Elements 13, and when ready to print I would open the photo in Elements 12
and print it there. Hope that helps.

  • Canon Pro-100 Paper Feed

New Canon Pro-100. Prints great. The problem: the paper feed in both the manual and the rear feeds are REALLY touchy. It will just declare that there is no paper when there is. I haven't found any clear differences when it works and when it decides there's no paper. I did find the posting on the rear vs. manuel feed confusion and helped some but it's still pretty picky. Any thoughts? I'm trying to run a small business with this thing and it's making my life very difficult.  Thanks in advance.

I just rock the paper side to side slightly and sense for a firm bottoming. I generally don't have trouble with the rear tray. The manual feed is more tricky since generally it is heavier paper. I can feel when paper is bottomed. Once I developed that process I rarely have a problem unless I am printing multiple prints in manual feed and don't wait for all the mechanisms to stop moving.

  • Pro 100 printing

I replaced a HP Photosmart B8550 with a Pro-100 recently.  In printing images both that I printed previously on the HP and some I have only printed on the Canon Pro-100 I am having frustrating results.  I am getting darker prints and less intensity of color from the Canon. My paper is Canon Paper Plus Semi-Gloss. I end up having to adjust the brightness and saturation using Photoshop Elements 10. Otherwise this is an excellent printer

I am very confident in saying your Canon Pixma Pro-100 will never print the same as your HP did.
There are just two different design philosophies between the two companies involved here. I use both HP's a Canon printers.
I prefer the Canon's over HP's (right now!)
First and foremost your monitor must show you what you are printing. If it doesn't than you may as well take up fishing instead.
Confirm this before we go any farther. If you set your gamma and grayscale correctly that may be all you need do.
Windows has a built in calibration feature and you can make use of it. I don't know if MAC OS has that but in either case it must be done.
