The rebel XS is supported by Camera Raw version 4.6 and newer... Update to that version of camera raw.

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4035 for mac (since you do not state your operating system...)
Follow the instructions on the readme found on the download pages, and you'll be all set!
Also, I guess that you tried the version 4.1 of the converter. One should always use the latest version.

  • Importing into iPhoto, edited RAW photos from Photoshop CS3

I edit all my photos in Photoshop CS3. Sometimes I just batch edit many of them. But when I import these edited images, iPhoto only shows them in unedited form. How do I import these edited images into iPhoto, and yet maintain the edits.
I am a professional photographer, and the only reason I need to import these images into iPhoto, is that I use the web galleries as the viewing tool for my clients.
    Thanks.

    coxpix:
When iPhoto imports a RAW file it creates a jpg version of it for display and editing with by iPhoto. Therefore, when you edit a RAW with CS3 you must import the new edited version, of whatever format you chose to save as, and use that one. It's the nature of the beast. All edits to RAW files when saved must be saved as a new file.
For what it's worth, the following may be of some help in using CS3 with iPhoto:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory .
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • I cannot open my RAW pictures from Canon 60D in CS2

I cannot open the RAW picture in CS2. I realize its a really old version of CS, but I don't want to upgrade if I don't have to. What can I do to open my RAW pictures? I am taking the pictures with a Canon 60D? Please help!! Thanks!!

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
The 60D requires Camera Raw 6.2 or later which is only compatible with CS5 or later.
Raw support is never added retrospectively to older versions so you'll never be able to open 60D Raw files with CS2.
If upgrading is not an option then your best option is to download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all 60D Raw files to DNG format then try editing the DNGs in CS2.

  • When I try to import pictures from another catalog, I cannot access my RAW pictures.  I can only seem them as non supported what do I do to import?

When I try to import pictures from another catalog, I cannot access my RAW pictures.  I can only seem them as non supported what do I do to import?

Sorry for the long delay.  I have Windows 8.1  and using Lightroom 5.7  I have organized my unedited RAW format photos in files on my hard drive in folders in My documents/pictures.  Once I edit them I move them to another folders on a separate drive and discard the rejects.
When trying to access my documents by selecting .File - Import from another catalog- my documents/ pictures; I see the folders, however when I select it, it says No items to match your search  When using the drop down menu on the lower right I can only see the images if I click on "all files" and when I click on the image I want to import,  it says "Lightroom cannot import this catalog; "The catalog does not appear to be a valid Lightroom catalog"
All of this happend when I loaded a Cannon Pro 100 printer plug-in.  I tried to disable the plugin, but It is still happining and cannot access the images.

  • I just bought the new PowerShot G1X. Aperture cannot read the raw files. Is there a fix for this?

I just bought the new PowerShot G1X. Aperture cannot read the raw files. Is there a fix for this? I am using Aperture 3.2.2 with a MacBook Pro.

I don't know -- sorry.  I don't think it matters -- once your camera is supported, you can easily force a re-processing of the Masters.  If you can import them as RAW+JPEG pairs, I would.  Set the JPG as Master until Aperture can convert the RAWs.
I don't use RAW+JPEG.  Can someone who does offer some suggestions  .
    (Added:)
And _always_ back up your files.  In this case, if you have to, you'll be able to re-import them.

  • Aperture 3.4.3 cannot read/process RAW images from Canon EOS M.

According to the information provided by Apple, Aperture 3.4.3 is capable of reading/processing RAW files from the Canon EOS M. I do not find that to be the case. I can see them in the preview when they download but as soon as I click on them I am met with the message that the files are in a format that Aperture does not recognize. ***** because I usually ONLY shoot RAW. Am I alone here?
    Thoughts?

It sould work in Lion also according to this page from Apple. Are you sure you have the latest version of Aperture?
I would double check just to make sure you have the latest OS and Aperture.
What happens if you open the RAW file in Preview?
If you go to /System/Library/CoreServices you'll see the RawCamera.bundle file. Select it, right click on it and choose Get Info from the menu.  The Info window will look like
    You should have version 4.01

  • Airport Utility 5.2 and 5.2.1 cannot read /edit configuration of AEBS 7.2.1

    *THE PROBLEM ON my Mac:*
I am using an ethernet connection directly to a brand new AEBS from:
iMac Intel Core 2 Duo, 2BG RAM
    X 10.4.10
    airport turned off
Airport Utility detects the base station but cannot read the configuration to edit and setup. And displays the following error:
"An error occurred while reading the configuration.
Please make sure your AirPort base station is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again. (-5)"
The AEBS does assign any machine connected via ethernet an IP address to allow internet access.
    *THE PROBLEM ON WINDOWS:*
I have the nearly the same problem when using my Windows XP pro laptop connected via ethernet using Airport Utility for Windows ver 5.2 and 5.2.1
Airport Utility detects the base station, but when attempting to access the configuration, the Error message is practically the same with a different error code:
"An error occurred while trying to access the base station. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again. Error -6742
*STEPS ATTEMPTED TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM (w/out success):*
I have read the posts that say to turn off IPv6 on Mac, did that but with no success.
Others did a simple hard reset on the AEBS, I tried that too.
I've tried connecting to the AEBS directly with all other network devices (modem, other routers, etc) disconnected and turned off just incase there was some compatibly issue... no work. I even tried all the different ports.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Can I walk into a Apple retail store and ask them to check the the AEBS to see if they can access the configuration?
    Just to be fair...
(For people who have only read this post, turning off the IPv6 worked for some people, and just doing a hard reset for others).

I finally figured it out. I had exactly the same problem when Airport Utility detected the base station but could not read the configuration to edit and setup, displaying the following error:
"An error occurred while reading the configuration.
Please make sure your AirPort base station is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again. (-5)"
I tried everything (Unfortuantely it is impossible to consult to an Apple genius around here). Even the hard reset didn't work. That is what I did: I pulled off the power cord, and put it back again WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE RESET BUTTON with a pin. Only after that the amber light went on twinkling, and I could access it via the Airport utility. All the settings were reset so I just had to reconfigure it. Hope it works for you too.

  • Canon T4i and can't load RAW photos into Photoshop 5.1. Is there an extension or plug in for this?

The question says it all. Trying to load my RAW pictures from my Canon T4i using Photoshop 5.1. It says it does not recognize this version of RAW. Help?
Is there an extension or Plug in?
I remember it used to work until I did an update.

Photoshop 5.x is ancient, from last millennium.  I'll assume you meant Photoshop CS5.1.
The highest version of ACR, the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in, that will run on Photoshop CS5.x, is ACR 6.7.
The Digital Rebel T4i = EOS 650D = EOS Kiss X4i was supported by ACR for the very first time in ACR 7.1, which needs at least Photoshop CS6 to run.
Your recollection is faulty.  You will never be able to open raw files from that camera directly from CS5.1.
You need to look for, download and run the free, standalone Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1 on each and every batch of Canon raw files from that camera in order to convert them into raw DNGs that you can open in your versions of Photoshop and ACR.

  • Canon 5 d mark 2 - opening RAW/CR2 files with CS3???

    I have CS3 version 10.0.1 and Raw convertor 4.6 and a Canon 5 d mark 2
I have downloaded the Camera RAW and DNG converter 5.2 and camera profiles but photoshop still will not open the files and Bridge just displays the RAW icon. Photoshop says it does not recognize this file format?
Any other suggestions- I have downloaded it now a couple of times and tried to install- but no luck - it still does not recognize the 5 d mark 2 .CR2 files - HEELLPPPP!!

    >will I be able to edit them with Bridge?
NEVER! But you can use Bridge to open your DNGs in Adobe Camera Raw. :)
Bridge is just a file browser. It does not open, edit or save files of any kind. It just hands the files over to the appropriate application(s) to open them, like Photoshop, Camera Raw, Illustrator, Acrobat, even MS Word, etc.

You have two options with Photoshop.
Upgrade to CS4 so you can use the latest Adobe Camera Raw plug-in, or use the DNG converter from the Downloads page above to make readable versions of your CR2 files.

  • New lame workaround for editing RAW images in Photoshop

Instead of re-importing, I open the image in ACR, then jump back to iPhoto and make some inconsequential and quick change (sepia, anyone?), then when saving from Photoshop, I navigate to the same roll in Modified that I came out of in Originals and save as a jpg (over the Enhance/Sepia/Edge Blur/whatever). The edit I made in iPhoto (don't forget to save in iPhoto before saving from Photoshop) tells the library to use the jpg from the Modified folder (instead of just using it temporarily while it parses the RAW file).

sorry, but I disagree. I don't think it's lame at all. The only thing I would add is that it's important to unselect "Save edited RAW files as 16 bit TIFFs", unless of course you intend to save your Photoshop (or other editor) files as TIFFs.

  • Photo EXIF gone when editing LR files with Photoshop CS3

All I get is somethink like "edited in external application." How can I regain or retain original data (from Nikon D200 RAW files)?

Using LR 1.31. After editing, "Save" command used in CS3, which moves a copy back into Lightroom. (LR set up to stack CS3's edits, which possibly is relevant per Adobe KB 333740.) Files enter LR from memory card in DNG format and return from Photoshop in PSD. (Setup problem?) Using PS 10.0.

  • IPhoto cannot import certain JPEGs created from Photoshop CS3

recently I found out, that if I save a JPEG from a zip compressed TIFF file via Photoshop CS3 it will not import into iPhoto '08.
Only if I save the JPEG from an uncompressed TIFF file it will import.
I think iPhoto is much to picky ...

You did get it imported OK though, didn't you? You can report that to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
