  • Is there a nonwireless headphone that plugs directly into the iPad? Thank you Artie

Hi, name is Artie, I am not tech savvy, but am an old geezer. My kid is laughing at me for buying an iPad. I think my question is simple- is there a headphone that plugs directly into the iPad? I am interested in something cheap/simple that will allow me to watch shows/movies on the iPad while sitting on the couch with the Missus while she watches her shows on tv. I have a separate keyboard which is Bluetooth, but would prefer simple headphones so I can leave a pair at all the locations I will be using the iPad at, on a regular basis. Thank you Artie

The iPad has a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack on it.
Any set of headphones with a 3.5 mm jack will work.
Thank you Johnathan, but I think I stated that pretty clearly: "you can use any stereo earphones with a 3.5 mm plug."

  • I am trying to download pictures from my canon rebel  eos to my Ipad but i get the message "this device is not supported" what can I do ?

I just bought an Apple Lighting to USB Camera Adapter. When I got home to and connected it to my Canon Rebel EOS Digital Camera. I received the error message "This device is not supported" I was wondering if there is any software or drivers I need to download?
    Thanks
    Don

I use Canon Cameras and have no problems downloading photos from the camera to the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter. My questions and suggestions might be basic but just to make sure:
    1. This is an iPad forum area. Are you using the lightning to USB camera adapter with an iPad? Your info in your original post says iPod. I'm not sure that the adapter works with an iPod.
    2. After you connect the adapter to your iPad and then use a USB cable to connect the adapter to the camera did you turn on the camera?
    3. If you did turn on the camera and still did not get the import of photos to start try a reset your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. This will not cause any data loss.

  • Have photoshop cs5 installed on desktop..got new Canon rebel T5i camera...cannot open RAW images...updated and installed plug-in...still now working.  Need help, please.

I have photoshop cs5 installed on desktop...got new Canon rebel T5i camera...cannot open RAW images...updated and installed plug-in...still not working...help please.

In any event, that camera was first supported by ACR version 7.4 which needs at least CS6 to run.  Naturally, all later versions support it too.
Your choice is either to upgrade your Photoshop, or to look for, download, install, launch and run the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 on each folder containing your raw Canon files to convert them first to raw DNGs that you can open in CS5.
In no case does an Adobe application belong "on your desktop".  The default install location should always be respected and left alone.

  • I have PE11, new camera Canon Rebel t5i, in raw format, "not supported by installed version of raw".

I am using Photoshop Elements 11, using WIndows 7 Operating System. I have a new camera Canon Rebel T5i, and having problem viewing images in raw format (cr2).
Message in PE11, states, "Camera model not supported by installed version of Camera raw."
    Canon software views images.
Suspect my minimum camera raw plug in version does not support this new camera....
I am unable to locate in the software any menu item that allows me to view the camera raw plug  in version.
Appreciate any support from our Adobe forum.

At least one person was able to get ACR 8.3 to install into PSE11 using the direct-download link for ACR 8.3 CC  on Adobe’s blog, so you might try that:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2011/03/keeping-photoshop-up-to-date.html#notconnected
After downloading, if on Wndows, unzip the setup.zip to somewhere, like your Desktop, and then run the AdobePatchInstaller.  I expect there’s a similar process for Macs, but I don’t have one so cannot advise, specifically.

  • My iMac won't read my Canon Rebel XT

I've had my iMac for a couple months now and have never been able to get my Canon Rebel XT to show up on it. I plug it in via usb and turn it on and it just reads "busy" on the screen continuously, and doesn't show up anywhere on my iMac. I tried Googling an answer to my question multiple times but all solutions assume that the camera shows up on my iMac, which it does not.
If this is the wrong place to post this question please direct me as to where it would be appropriate. Thank you in advance for any help, I really appreciate it.

I won't show up in the Finder, but should still import into iPhoto. Optionally, you can take the card out and insert it into any SD card reader that registers with your Mac. Then you'll see the card in the Finder listed as a Canon EOS (if properly formatted with your camera's Initialization routine) You should be able access the USB SD card like any other drive or USB device.
While in the camera, though, I believe you will only get iPhoto to import from it.

  • Updated to latest ACR 6.6 but still can't open CR2 files from Canon Rebel XSi

I updated to latest version of Adobe Camera Raw 6.6 but still can't seem to open my CR2 files in Photoshop. Can't open them in Lightroom either, no preview in Bridge or OS.
    I'm running OS 10.7.2 and Photshop 12.1 x 64 which is CS5.1 I suppose.
I've downloaded Canon's EOS utility hoping that would somehow do something as well but nothing.
The images were shot on Canon Rebel XSi which is certainly supported by the newest version of ACR. So I have no clue as to what's happening... I previously downloaded these images onto my old laptop about a year ago and everything was fine, however now I'm not even getting a preview in OS. Do I have to revert to an older version of ACR (perhaps the same one I used originally?) to open these files again? These files have been stored on a hard drive, so I'm not downloading them directly from the camera-again, this probably has nothing to do with it but not sure what to do. A lot of the posts I've seen recommend downloading the latest version of ACR to fix the issue, but again I've done that and as a matter of fact the camera (Rebel XSi) has been supported for some time now...
In OS, when the image is selected no preview:
    Lightroom error:
    Bridge, no preview:
    Photoshop error:

Something appears to be wrong with your files.
Are most of your images approx. 3.7 MB?
This is very small for a 12 MP image.
If you go back to the original file on your laptop, what is the file size?
Also the fact that the Mac OS is not showing the preview is unusual.
Perhaps these files got corrupted when they were moved to your new computer.
Can you open these files OK on your old laptop?
Is the OS showing the previews on your old laptop?
Also compare the file sizes between old and new computer.
Have you tried repairing your permissions?
Try Disk Utility in your Macs Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility to see if this helps.
    Good Luck!

  • CR2 files from Canon Rebel XSi won't open in CS2

Ok, so I have a powerbook G4 with Tiger Mac OS X and CS2 student version. I am basically computer illiterate so feel free to state the obvious here.
I bought a new Canon Rebel XSi and have been shooting raw CR2 files. I have done this in the past with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and never had a problem... now the error window pops up saying my file is unrecognizable. I did the only things I know how to do which was to check for updates and verify permissions in disc utility - this did not help.
Still thinking it was my computer or the software I backed everything up and wiped the hard drive clean by erasing and reinstalling the original discs and then reloading CS2 and again doing all of the updates - this did not help.
I have spent 3 days reading in these forums and trying to clear caches and download DNG's (by the directions into the right library) and still it does not work. I even downloaded trial versions of CS3 and CS4.
Now I'm sure my computer is a downloaded mess and I still have no access to my raw files!
    Please Please Please help me!

    You're welcome, Nikki.

<br />&gt;what do you do with the paper with a hard drive icon on it when you download something?
    <br />
    <br /> I assume you mean the
    <i>disc image file</i> with a ".dmg" extension.
    <br />
<br /> Personally I keep any such disc image file if its contents prove successful and discard it when a new version comes along that also proves to work OK. Otherwise, I delete them right away. It's your choice. I prefer to have the dmg file around in case I have to install its contents again for whatever reason without having to download it again.
    <br />
<br /> That being said, I don't keep anything on my desktop,
<b>ever</b>. I download everything to a "Downloads" folder inside my Documents folder.

<br /> Here's what my desktop looks like all the time:

    HI,
When I upload photos from my Canon Rebel 1000D to iphoto the images are labelled JPEG, yet I shoot in RAW.How do I get iphoto 11 vers9.1.3 to not convert the photos to jpeg. I seem to have tried and read so much but just can't figure it out.  How do I get iphoto 11 vers9.1.3 to not convert the photos to jpeg. Or do a have to use a different system? I have Adobe Bridge. Or can I upload directly into photoshop?
Also how do you install dmg's properly I am having problems installing them?
    I have a Mac OS X 13 inch Version 10.6.7
    Advice desperately needed

Do you have Aperture installed? I found your model on a compatibility list; however, there was a note that it requires Aperture 2 to be installed:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
    According to this excerpt:
To see a list of digital cameras with RAW-format support that are compatible with iPhoto, visit this Aperture webpage (any camera compatible with Aperture, Apple’s advanced photo editing and management program, is compatible with iPhoto as well)
which is at the bottom of this page:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iPhoto/9.0/en/pht41627265.html
I may be wrong, but I interpret that info to mean you need Aperture 2 before iPhoto will work with RAW?

  • Adobe Bridge CS4 and Canon Rebel T3

I purchased a Canon Rebel T3 this week after my Canon Rebel XS died on me.  Unfortunately, the T3 doesn't seem to be compatible with my CS4 Bridge when downloading images from the camera.  It is unable to convert the files to DNG.  Is there an update to CS4 that works with a Canon Rebel T3?  From what I can tell, only CS5 will work with my camera, and that's not an option for me.  In the meanwhile, I have downloaded the Adobe DNG Converter for my Mac, while useful, isn't as clean a process as the conversion happening within Bridge itself.
I've had a hell of a week with technical difficulties!  Thanks in advance for your help.

I have downloaded the Adobe DNG Converter for my Mac, while useful, isn't as clean a process as the conversion happening within Bridge itself.
If you have used Adobe Updater for CS4 and have the latest ACR plug in for CS4 that is all you can do. If your camera is not supported (and since CS5 is more then a year ago released every new dSLR from then on is supported for the CS5 converters) you have two options.
first is to upgrade to CS5
second is to just use the free DNG converter as you do now. (have no ability to test but maybe there is little change Photodownloader will let you convert the files to DNG so just give it a try).
But after having used DNG Converter and point Bridge to that folder you are able to work with the files as you used to do (rename, sort filter and adjust in ACR CS4). If you can't use Photodownloader for ingestion of files it is just a bit more work to get the same results in Bridge but it is possible

  • Lightroom 1.4.1 won't read RAW  or RAW+JPEG from Canon Rebel Xsi

I use Windows. I started with LIghtroom 1. Technical support said Lightroom 1.4.1 update would let allow me to import RAW and RAW+JPEG files from Canon Rebel Xsi into Lightroom. I downloaded the update. Lightroom still will not recognize RAW or JPEG+RAW photos taken with my Canon Rebel Xsi. Lightroom will read straight JPEG photos taken with this camera. Any suggestions as to how I can fix this (e.g. be able to import RAW and RAW+JPEG files)? Sorry if there is a simple thing to fix to this or if I could have found the solution somewhere else on this site. I am a Lightroom novice and have been struggling with this issue for some time now. Thanks in Advance.

Thanks everyone for all your help! I am now able to import the RAW files. Steve and Don especially thanks so much! I am posting my solution in case someone out there has had the same problem.
In the past, using the prompt generated from within LR, I downloaded the update and ran the install. However using Don's information I realized the splash screen indicated 1.1 and the number did not match the build # provided by Don.
Based on this information, I went to the Adobe site, reran the download via the Adobe site (not LR) and reran the install. Of note, this install process gave different screens from when I ran install from the files downloaded accessed via the LR prompt. The biggest difference is that this time I got Adobe directions for how to execute the update. I next confirmed that I had the update files on the hard drive, opened the file as directed by Adobe and the install updated. However I was still getting the LR 1.1 splash screen.
Based on information posted elsewhere, I determined that I needed to delete the LR icon from my desktop. I moved "LR 1.4.1" from the start menu to the desktop. I now launch LR 1.4.1 when I hit the LR icon and I have successfully downloaded a boatload of RAW files. Thanks All! You are geniuses!

  • Problem Importing photos from Canon Rebel XTi -- Iphoto '08

When I plug in USB cord to camera and MacBook, then turn on my Canon Rebel XTi, iPhoto opens up but will not read the CF card. The status light on the camera just blinks red as if it working on it but it never does show the photos in iPhoto08 and the camera doesn't show up on the sidebar either although it used to but doesn't anymore.
I know that my CF card is ok because when I use it in my Canon Powershot S400 it works fine, and I'm able to import photos fine.
    Help please?

Thanks, I'm fairly certain that WILL work since the card works with iPhoto in my other camera fine.
I don't have a card reader and I'd like to figure out how to fix the problem I have with my Rebel XTi. Any suggestions on that?

  • No import from Canon Rebel XT camera to iPhoto

iPhoto 6 fails to import from my Canon Rebel XT. Nothing happens. I've tried every suggestion I can find on the Apple and Canon sites, and I'm stymied. Canon's said to reinstall their Solution Disk, so I did that. Also needed a EOS Utility upgrade download. The battery in my camera is fully charged. I've followed all the directions I can find! I'm not particularly computer literate--maybe you can tell. I thought this would be easy, but I've spent half a day on it already!

Is the camera set to 'PC connection' in the last (5th) menu in the camera settings. That should do the trick. Another option is to get an inexpensive USB 2.0 card reader. That will work really well also and import the images much faster. Then you just remove the card and put it in the reader when you want to download your images.

  • Can't import from Canon Rebel into Yosemite iPhoto.

Updated to Yosemite 10.10, iPhoto 9.6,  which recognizes my Canon Rebel T5i and shows a video but won't import because "there's a problem downloading" which tells me nothing. Any ideas?

I had posted this issue in multiple spots so I'll answer in general and paste everywhere for others to learn what's taken me hours to figure out. I've spent nearly a work day dealing with his issue, needed the video for a work project. Anyway, short answer to a known problem, call Canon (or your camera manufacturer).
Turned out my video wasn't corrupt. I had to take the card out of the camera and insert into Mac's SD slot (which is a card reader so you could go the USB card reader route) and imported directly into iMovie. Downloading into iPhoto, Image Capture and even dragging onto my Desktop still wouldn't work for some unknown reason (probably related to my old laptop) but I was able to finally import the video as a .mov file directly from the card.
For newer Canon cameras, there is no communication setting of Normal and PTP in the menu settings as both the Canon rep and another commenter reported. The Canon rep said they are updating their utility to Yosemite OS 10.10, that it wouldn't take 6 months but he couldn't commit a timeframe. You don't need the camera software anyway if you're tethering and importing into iPhoto.
Seems the easiest solution is inserting card into computer SD slot or using a USB tethered card reader. Hope this helps save others some aggravation although I've learned my lesson about early adoption and "upgrading" to new Apple OS. If it ain't broke.....wait, then wait some more.

  • Windows 7 64 bit canon rebel xti compatibility issue

I am having trouble to get my canon rebel xti (400D) to work under windows 7 64 bit. You see the canon camera icon in the devices and printers window with a yellow triangle indicating it's not working properly. Did anyone have the same issue and even got an answer to it?
    Thanks.

I believe I have a solution for you and any other XTi owners who don't have the "Print/PTP" option in their menu.  I was able to get my XTi to function with Windows 7 64-bit last night.  Here is what I did:
    1) Installed the default Canon utilities disk that came with the camera (which installed without an issue, but wouldn't recognize the camera).
    2) I downloaded the updated EOS Utility version 2.6.1 for Windows Vista x64 from here:http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=314&modelid=14256
    3) I installed the default Canon utilities disk that came with the camera (which installed and opened without an issue, but wouldn't recognize the camera to download pictures).
    4) I executed the 2.6.1 EOS Utility update that I downloaded and received the following error: "Installation program of EOS Utility requires administrator priveleges" even though it was being run as an administrator.  Any compatibility options that I selected on the installation resulted in the same error.
    5) When you receive the error mentioned in the prior step, DON'T click the "OK" button.  First, navigate to the follwing path: "C:\Users\admin-user\AppData\Local\Temp\".  Inside this directory, you should see a directory named something like "CanonUPW_000".  Copy this whole directory to another location, then click "OK" on the installation program error on the screen (which removes the directory you just copied).
    6) Open the directory that you copied in the last step and navigate to the following location: ".\CanonUPW_000\INST\INSTALL\COMMON".  You should find an "Install.exe" file in this directory.
    7) Open the properties of this "Install.exe" file, then select the "Compatibility" tab.
    8) Select the "Change settings for all users" button and select the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
    9) Under the "Privilege Level" section, select the "Run this program as an administrator", then click OK twice.
    10) Execute the "Install.exe" file.  The installation should start and finish succeffully.
    11) The EOS Utility should successfully open after you execute it (following the installation).
    12) The only thing that doesn't work exactly the same as with using EOS Utility with XP.  When you plug your camera in, the program doesn't automatically open.  After opening the EOS Utility, you can connect the camera and download pictures, or utilize the software's remote control function.
I hope this works as well for you as it did for me.
