Canon Selphy stopped working...

Hi. My Canon Selphy 510 photo printer stopped working with my macbook. It worked before, but now stopped. I was able to connect it to my g4 tower and get it to print from there (so we know it's not a hardware or cable issue), I was also able to print directly from my camera. I also have another printer on the network that is working 100% with this mac.
On the macbook, I uninstalled, then reinstalled the canon drivers. reboot, etc. no dice.
Here's the problem:
When you print, it fails. And the printer queue status goes back to Stopped. The normally lit green light blinks red just once.
At the end of this post is a clip from the error log (I set cups to debug loglevel for this). Notice how it thinks that it's out of paper and or ink, but it's not! I even tried to print without the paper in, to force it into a REAL no-paper-state, and this didn't help.
Let me add, the Canon Printmonitor application always just says Ready, and doesn't indicate any error state.
Do you guys have any ideas? Could there have been a software update I installed between now and when the printer worked that broke something? Thanks.

MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Hi there,
We have a Selphy 810 and I was going to test this on an Intel Mini, as I'm concerned it may be an issue with the PPC drivers on the Intel Mac, but unfortunately the power supply for the printer is missing so I cannot check this for you just yet. I'll keep on the hunt and hopefully have a reply soon.
In the meantime, what application are you trying to print from? If its a Universal app, then you could try setting the app to open using Rosetta. This would help to identify if its an Intel issue. Also, have you tried setting the Page Setup > Format for to the Selphy rather than 'Any Printer'?

canon 5320 stopped with no power.   Tried new outlet, checked the cord, unplugged and replugged with on button depressed.  No results.   Not often used, so am disappointed with suggestions that printer is toast.   Must be better answer

    Hi bskaar,
If you have the unit plugged into a surge protector that is plugged into a power outlet, please plug the unit directly into a power outlet to see if this will power the unit back on.  Please also try an outlet in another room of the house.  If the printer still does not power on, it will require servicing.  Please call or email us at one of the methods on the Contact Us page to obtain your servicing options.

  • Yosemite - Canon printers stopped working 'filter failed'

This is a curious tale. I have a MBP Retina Late 2013 and connect to a Windows network. I have two Canon Image Runner printers on the network. To install them, I downloaded the drivers, then in ADD PRINTER, chose 'Windows' and chose the printers from the list presented. All good so far.
The printers have worked fine for 8 months.
Two weeks ago all MS Office programs started crashing whenever I tried printing from them. I've had issues with Office on a Mac before so, because I was very busy, I put dealing with this issue into the 'eventually' basket.
Last week Adobe Reader crashed when printing a pdf. Illustrator and InDesign printed fine, however, for a couple more days, but then they too failed to print (but the programs didn't crash). When I looked at the print queue I had the message 'Printing Stopped - 'filter failed'. This happened every time, whether I printed from any program (Word, Pages, InDesign, Illustrator, Reader, Acrobat Pro) or to either Canon printer. A search online threw up all sorts of reasons, mostly having to do with upgrading to Yosemite and the drivers being Sandboxed. But I had been printing successfully for months on Yosemite, and there had been no recent updates to the OS.
After contacting the firm's IT support (Windows, with few clues about Mac), they suggested uninstalling the printers and reinstalling them. Which is where things got really curious. I deleted all the printers, rebooted, and went to ADD PRINTER, but where the network had earlier given me a list of available printers, there was nothing. Also curious, I suddenly had an Oki laser printer installed (Bonjour). To satisfy my curiosity I printed something to the Oki printer, and it went through. I then searched through the building for an Oki printer, found it out in despatch, and sure enough there was my print job.
I tried to delete the Oki printer, but whenever I reboot it comes back!
At home I have several printers (all deleted when I purged the printers at IT Support's request) and I reinstalled them successfully. A Fuji-Xerox and 2 Brothers all print fine.
The problem, therefore, has to lie with either Canon printers specifically, the Windows network or ghosts. Nobody else uses my MBP and the IT Support denied any recent upgrade to the server or software.
I really, really, really would like to be able to print at work, and the guy out at despatch is getting annoyed whenever I send something his way. Has anyone had a similar issue, or does anyone know what the heck is going on?

Is it necessary for you to print via the Windows share? If not, then I would suggest you look at printing directly to the imageRUNNERs. To do so you will need to determine their IPv4 addresses, as the imageRUNNER series does not currently support Bonjour, so you will not see them in the Default view of the Add printer window. Once you have the IPv4 address for each imageRUNNER, you can add them by selecting the IP icon (instead of Default or Windows) and entering the IPv4 address. You then set the Protocol to HP Jetdirect-Socket and leave the Queue field blank. You can then change the Name from the IPv4 address to something more meaningful to you and you can enter a Location if so desired. Then the last step is to select the supporting Canon driver in the Use menu.
If IT says you must use the Windows share then the ability to see a shared printer has nothing to do with an installed printer driver. So when you select to add the printer and select Windows, you should see the list of Workgroups and Domain names. Assuming you do and select the appropriate one the Windows print server belongs to, then you should get a prompt to authenticate to the server. Here you can enter your Windows domain account and this should result in you seeing the shared print queue. Does this happen?

  • Canon 3000 stopped working, can't install drivers.

So, I've been using a canon 3000 directly attached through usb to my G4 for about two years now. Last week, all of a sudden, whenever I tried to print i would get a message on my print window that the jobs were stopped. The job would appear on the printer window but there would be a "job stopped" on the status. Whenever I tried starting the job from the menu, it would go into the progress bar for a few seconds and then go back to "job stopped". So i decided to delete the printer which i did through the printing prefrences panel and tried to reinstall the driver to see if that would help. When I tried reinstalling the driver the installer shows me the eula and then just gets stuck on "select destination" part, you know, where u select on what hd to install the driver. I get a little progress wheel that never stops and doesn't let me choose which hd to install the driver in. Yesterday I left my installer on in the morning, went to work and came back in the afternoon... roughly about 10 hours, and the progress wheel was still spinning as if the computer was still searching for a suitable place to put the driver. Any suggestions? btw, I've been reading that 10.4.11, the os I have, has a lot of problems with printers... wondering if that might be the case?

Your problem may be related to the .11 update but I don't believe that 10.4.11 has any particular problem with printers, most of my office Mac's are running this version and it has been one of the more stable releases (we had more trouble with .10). Your problem could be related to a number of things, most likely the disc permissions, so I would use the following steps to see if this can resolve your installation issue.
    1. Open the Printer Setup Utility and delete the iP3000 from the printer list (if you see it). Then click on Printer Setup Utility and select Reset Printing System.
    2. Close the Printer Setup Utility.
    3. Go to Library > Printers > Canon and delete the contents of the BJPrinters folder.
    4. Go to Library > Receipts and delete the file Canon iP3000 xxx.pkg
    5. Empty the Trash
    6. Unplug the Canon USB printer cable and restart the Mac
    7. Install the latest version of the Canon driver. Looking at the Canon Au web site the latest version is 4.8.3.
    8. Once the driver installation is complete, go to Applications > Utilities and open Disk Utility. Run the Repair Disk Permissions option.
    9. When the Repair Disk is complete, open the Printer Setup Utility again and click Add.
    10. Select the Default Browser view and select the Canon printer connected via the USB port. The Print Using menu should automatically change to Canon IJ Printer.
    11. Click Add to add the printer.

  • Canon scanners stopped working with Acrobat X

I have Canon 4400F and Canon Pixma MP780 scanners installed as devices on my new HP Windows 8 (64 bit) computer. After installing Reader X I was able to scan with both devices without problems. After a Reader X update and a Windows 8 update attempting to scan from within Acrobat yields error messages. (" ... rmslantc.dll is missing .... " when trying to use the MP780 and " .... scanintf.dll is missing ..." when trying to use the 4400F. Both files exist in c:\Windows\twain_32\MP780 directory. Reinstalling Acrobat X without the update didn't help. I tried to do a system restore for a date when scanning worked but received an error message that the restore couldn't be completed. All drivers that are needed to run these devices are current. Any ideas?

TRy adding the folder that contain rmslantc.dll  in the PATH environment variable. Follow these steps:
    a)    First, determine the correct path to add into the PATH environment variable.  Look inC:\Windows\twain_32 and there should be one other folder (Example: - MP780). This is the path that is needed to be added into the PATH environment variable. C:\Windows\twain_32\MP780
    b)    Modify the PATH environment variable. Go to Control Panel, System, and then choose Advanced System Settings in the left hand column.
    c)    This will bring up the System Properties dialog (it should already be on the Advanced tab).
    d)    At the bottom of this dialog is an Environment Variables button.  Clicking this button will bring up theEnvironment Variables dialog.
    e)    In the bottom panel, scroll until you find the variable named Path.  Select this one and then hit Editbutton to bring up the Edit System Variable dialog.
    f)     In the Variable value text box, scroll all the way to the right and then add in the pathC:\Windows\twain_32\MP780that was determined earlier.  Make sure to separate this value with a preceding semi-colon.
This should resolve the issue because I see lot of people facing this issue as mentioned in the following forums:

  • Canon Printer stops working (software issue?)

have my Canon iP4200 printer hooked up to my iMac and have been using it for years with out any problems until today. When i try to print something nothing happens. In the Printer queue application thing in the dock, it shows the document in queue and its status is "printing". On top of the window it shows this message: 'GenericClass: waiting for device' whatever that means i assume thats the issue but have no clue what it means. I have so many things to print for uni and need to get this working again, how do i get it back to working order again??

I did all of that and didn't seem to work. However i think the issue is with VM ware Fusion, because everytime i have that open it displays that printer error msg (regardless whether im printing on Mac OS X or XP), but when VMF is not running it prints fine...

  • 10.6.7 : canon scanner stops working

    Hi,
I updated to 10.6.7 and since then my MP750 canon scanner isn't recognized any more. I tried to reinstall the scanner driver downloaded from canon website but with no luck... This worked for the 10.6.5 -> 10.6.6 transition.
Printing on this multifunction is working though...
The only workaround I found is to use ... windows XP in virtualbox

Update : re-installing the file called "mp750osxsd12131ej7.dmg" solved my issue.
    Cheers.

  • Canon MX870 Stopped Working

We had a paper jam, cleared it out, and now the printer won't work at all.  It acts like it's printing (makes all the usual printing noises, etc) but nothing comes up on the paper.  Ink cartridges are good.  I tried printing one of my receipts for a local food co-op as a test and all it did was print the 2 horizontal black lines that were part of the receipt - none of the text printed.  Any ideas?

Thank you!  We're on Windows 7.  We were getting an error message with the paper jam, but once we cleared that out, the error went away.  It acts as though it's printint correctly...makes all the normal noises, the paper comes out, but comes out blank (except for those horizontal lines which it seems to be able to print without a problem for some reason).  It's very strange.

  • Epson and Canon printers not working with 10.7.5

Anyone know if there is a fix for Epson and Canon printers for 10.7.5? Did Apple intentionally switch off printer drivers to force us to upgrade to Mountain Lion? I called Epson technical support and they mentioned it's a well-known issue and they said to "wait for an Apple update". I doubt that will fix the issue. My Canon printer stopped working for months already and there is still no fix.

    Hey there zoneinfinite!
I have an article here that can help you find and manually install the most updated printer drivers for your specific printers:

  • Canon 7D tethered stopped working

When I click the shutter either on the camera or using LR, the message 'Transferring Files from Camera' stays and nothing happens.
I'm pretty sure this stopped working after upgrading to LR3.5
    I upgraded to LR3.6
    Tried three different USB cables
Tried each USB port with each USB cable combination
    Rebooted
    Followed every step here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/894/cpsid_89486.html
Note, everything works fine using Canon EOS Utility
I noticed someone mention upgrading to LR3.6C but I don't see where to download that. Wouldn't it be here?:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=113&platform=Windows
    Also, in this article:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/842/cpsid_84221.html
5D, 1Ds Mark II, 20D, EOS 350D (Rebel XT/EOS Kiss Digital N) on Windows require a driver downloaded from Canon. This driver is not available for 64-bit versions of Windows.
Is it possible that the 7D should be included in that list?
    My setup:
    Sony VAIO laptop
    Window 7 x64 SP1
    Intel i5 2.67GHz
    4GB RAM
    USB 2.0
    LR3.6
Is anyone else successfully shooting tethered with a Canon 7D?

I'm happy to say that tethering is working after installing LR4.
    Thanks!

  • "canon mp navigator ex has stopped working" cannot get this to work - fresh install on windows 8.1

Trying to get LiDE 110 scanner working on my laptop. I keep getting this message once scan is complete "canon mp navigator ex has stopped working" and then a corrupted pdf is saved - fresh install on windows 8.1 I have used most up to date drivers and software and tried these two "fixes" from an internet search on this topic (it seems to be a common problem that hasn't been addressed by Canon) - I'm on the verge of returning the scanner!! 1) Delete this file: C:\Users\<user name>\App Data\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Network Shortcuts\My Web Sites on MSN.      RESULT - "My Web Sites on MSN" does not exist in that folder on my computer. 2)Remove "sdc330Twain.ds" from windows Twain-32 folder      RESULT - didn't have any effect Thank you, in anticipation!

Currently running the scanner on "Advanced scan to pdf" but would like to have access to the canon software with more options

Upgrade to Yosemite 10.10.1 caused my Canon Pixma ip8500 printer to stop working. Canon no longer supporting this printer. Any solutions?

    Hi
    try this
    resolve my printer problem.
with Yosemite, Apple have upgraded CUPS to 2.0, and CUPS work different. So you need to change one think in configuration.
open terminal, and write the following commands:
sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
you asked for the password for superuser
    sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
after this check in print queue if the printer is ready and not in pause mode.
The printer now should work, if the printer only print in B&W you need to change the configuration in CUPS web interface.
try http://localhost:631/ ; if you receive a error telling the web interface is disabled, type in terminal services the following
    cupsctl WebInterface=yes
    after this try again http://localhost:631/
after this choose in the web page "Adding Printers and Classes", bellow the CUPS for Administrators title.
in the new page, choose manage printers; after this choose your printer.
    in the page of printer choose from the second combobox the option "set default options";
in the option page, change the color mode from monochrome to color, and save hitting the button "set default option", you be asked for a user and password with admin privileges.
After this your print is ok.

  • Canon MP Navigator Stopped Working (MX870)

Running Windows7, 64 bit Oper System
    Canon MX870
Scanning was not an issue prior to a few days ago. No new software or programs have been installed.
Went to scan a document and scanning looked like it was working, then it greyed out and received error message: Canon MP Navigator EX has stopped working.
Searched internet for solutions and tried them. Nothing works. I've gone as far to un-install all Canon products and utilities, even went into registry and searched and removed everything I thought I could related to Canon.
Still receive error. What do I do now?
Guess I've pretty much stumped the panal since there's been no response
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi jealkon,
There may be a third party scanner driver interfering with MP navigator.  Please try the following:
    1.  Click 'Start' and then 'Computer'.
    2.  On the left-hand pane, click the down arrow beside Local Disk (C: ).
    3.  Click the down arrow beside Windows to open the folder
    4.  Highlight the twain_32 folder.
    5.  The folder should have 2 folders that start with PIXMA MX870 and a file called wiatwain.ds.  Any other folders or files should be dragged to the desktop.
    6.  Reboot the computer and try scanning again.

  • Canon Selphy CP-720 only works with old 10.5 Driver

I posted this to help others who have the same problem. The Gutenprint driver that comes with Snow Leopard doesn't work for the Selphy CP 720. I had to download the old Canon drivers from the Canon website (for Leopard OSX 10.5), then reinstall the printer.
    1) Download from Canon
    2) Install, then restart computer
    3) Remove the printer from the list in preferences, then add again
    4) Select the Canon driver (doesn't say Gutenprint in the name)
This was the only way to get the printer to work. I can't say whether it prints any worse in 10.6 since I haven't connected it to my Mac Mini running 10.5 to test, but it works. Hope Apple updates the list at least. I can understand if they don't want to add the driver since it is for Leopard, but it is better than a driver that does nothing.
Hope this helps others... it will probably work with many of the other Selphy models.

hi, i have a Canon Selphy CP750... the prescribed steps didn't work for me. The printer just says "No Paper", I tried downloading the driver for both 10.6 and 10.5, but still not working. The printer works fine with my old Windows based PC. Any other suggestions from anybody? Thx.
