Canon stopped supporting Canoscan 9950F on Apple, but still on Windows 8. What can I do to fix this?
Upon upgrading to the latest Apple release, my Canon Canoscan 9950F no longer works. After dialoging with the Canon representatives, the offered me a "discounted price" on new hardware. They support Windows 8, but decided not to support Mountain Lion. What can I do? I have a $400 dollar paper-weight that I don't want to send to the landfill.

Note - if I have to replace this, what is the best scanner to use for film and negatives?
Since you purchased Lion at some point, I wonder if the most cost effective move would be to spend under $100 for a new USB3 external drive, and install Lion and your 9950F scanner drivers there. Boot external when you want to scan. Drive visible to Mountain Lion desktop for shared files. The USB3 drive is backwards compatible with USB2. Western Digital has some portable Mac drives here. The 1TB is $99 at Best Buy in the U.S.
If you still have a machine running Lion, you can boot into Recovery and have it install onto the new USB3 external drive. Otherwise, it is another Lion download. Do not run the installer. Then you let Lion Diskmaker build you an external, bootable USB Lion installer stick.

Java will not work on the computer all of a sudden. Now when I go to open a Pogo game room up i get a Mozilla red lego piece in the corner saying "Some plug ins have been De-activated for your safety, in the box will be "Java (TM) platform SE 6 U". I have removed Java7 and reloaded it, after that not working found Java6 and loaded and reloaded it and it is not working.
Now after 3 minutes of the room not loading Pogo will give me the error message of

I have done the click here in last sentence and all it wants me to do is download Java7 which was the first reason it was not working.
Hopefully I have explained this well enough, from Mozilla this is what I get BUT if I go to Internet Explorer (which I HATE) the Java6 and Java7 work perfectly fine. So apparently the Java is downloaded correctly I just can not get it to play nicely with Mozilla and that is my main goal.
EA games help page has gone through it all with me and have proven over and over (after 1 hour sessions, 45 waits for them) Java is working on my computer perfectly with IE just not on Firefox and with the rural situation I have become dependent on Mozilla because of the no fiber optics here it has been my best and only source of successfully using the internet here in the far out part of the country.Thank you so much, for once in my computer life I knew what the problem was, what caused it, why it was caused, what it did, what it made it do and most importantly how to fix it and to do it correctly and expeditiously. I can not Thank You all enough for all of the help! I also have Pogo mailed this to all on my friends list, where they have all learned as I have and have fixed theirs also. and the message is being spread. Thank You again, I just can not say it enough.

My itunes has stopped playing music. I recently downloaded more music and now it has stopped playing, it says it is playing but there is no sound and the time bar does not move from 0. I have uninstalled all apple apps on my laptop and reinstalled and then updated the software. I have tried 'repair' aswell but nothing has worked.

I just purchased and installed a Canon Pixma MG5220 printer/copier/scanner to my PC desktop with Windows XP. It works fine. It has been successfully installed on my network and I am able to use it with my laptop running VISTA. However, I am trying to connect it to my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8 and I am not having much luck. I can see it as one of the printer choices when attempting to print; however, I get the following message:
NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I have been searching for answers, but nothing seems to work yet. Does anyone have any suggestions?

- you have purchased named canon, which is conencted to your PC running windows xp
- downloaded driver for win xp, and canon works fine
- canon is connected to that PC via USB
- that Canon is also activated as network printer, by allowing print sharing in windows; how did you set that option?
- now, you are in Mac OS x 10.6.8, downloaded Canon driver for Mac OS X, installed it, detected printer on the network, printer was installed; was it detected as attached to that PC running win XP? or not?
or you set canon by being connected to your mac directly via USB?
Now, there are some questions you should answer as some details are missing, and your initial text is not clear. Can you print if Canon is connected directly to your mac? did you try that? if not, do it before answering. -

Why can't it just export properly...Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer. As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you. I'm sure you'll pay, however.
Let this be a very important lesson learned.

I am using a Canon 640 printer and my MPNavigator will not remain open. It pops open then quickly closes. I've used it for several years but it just started doing this. What can I do to fix this problem?
I had a similar problem with a Canon MP800R under Mac OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks.
In my case, the MP Navigator app in the dock was linking to the wrong file.
It linked to Applications > MP Navigator 2.1.app > Contents > Resources > MP Navigator.app, but it should link to the "main" app, probably under Applications > MP Navigator 2.1.app.
After pulling the correct MP Navigator app file to the dock, I can start MP Navigator again by clicking on it in the dock. However, when clicking on it, a second MP Navigator icon will show up in the dock and stay there until the app is closed. By the way, the MP800R scanner also works (although officially not supported by Canon). -

I have a factory unlock iphone 5 with the lasted version. Since yesterday my sim card stopped working and now says `No Sim`, was working fine and stopped working now, other sim works but just not mine. ¿What can be happening?

I just got an apple at&t iphone 4 and I have it unlocked. But I want to connect it to t-mobile, so I trimmed my sim card and once the phone was unlocked I inserted the sim and it says no sim, activation error. What can I do to fix this? What is wrong?

It sounds like you are unable to send emails, as they go straight to the outbox, but you can get the emails without issue. I recommend using the Connection Doctor to help you troubleshoot what is happening with the following article:
