Canon VIXIA HF M31 camcorder format work with cs4?

Has anyone actually imported footage from this camcorder to cs4? The specs say the format is a HD MPEG AVC/H.264.
CS4 shows different MPEG formats and an AVCHD format. I have never had any trouble capturing video from camcorders using a DVC tape.
I have also had video sent to me in a AVI, MOV, or ASF format and none of them will import. Is cs4 very limited to the what formats it will really accept?

AVCHD is one flavor of MPEG video. If the camera has the AVCHD logo, it will probably work.

and I'm new to this HD Cameras
I'm trying to figured out how to edit the video from this Camera,
the manual says that it produces
video file format:
MPEG-4 AVC/H.264
others says that file format is:
AVCHD
Whatever that is, but?
what type of file should I see when I take a look in my memory card in my PC and
what do I do with those files?
I heard Premiere CS5 has trouble editing these files?

Copy the entire contents of the camera's card to your hard drive.
Use Premiere Media Browser to import the files into your project.

Please make sure that you are using Transfer Utility, which is a program that is made by Pixela Corporation. It came with your camcorder along with another program called VideoBrowser.

My mac doesn't recognize my new Canon Vixia HF R600 camcorder, any ideas why?

I just purchased a Canon Vixia HF R600 camcorder. I'm trying to transfer the video files (recorded in MP4 format) to my iMac (OS X Lion 10.7.5) with the USB cable that came with my camera. After connecting and powering on my camera, I see the words "USB connection" on my camcorder screen, but absolutely nothing on my iMac. With my old camcorder, it would show up as an external device on my desktop/in finder and I could transfer files to my mac and then view them either with Quicktime or import into iMovie. But my computer doesn't seem to know that anything new is connected. Can anyone help me? Thanks

Actually iMovie 10 requires Mac OS 10.9 or 10.10. if you update the OS you can download iMovie 10 for free and iMovie 9 will still be available to use. iMovie 10 is a big change from iMovie 9 and some capabilities have been removed.
I am nevertheless a little surprised that when you connect your camera via USB that it does not appear as an external drive on your Mac (check in the Finder for a volume probably called "Untitled"). I assume you have read the info that came with your camera that might well include how to connect to a Mac.

I would like to log and capture in FCP 7 with my Canon Vixia HF M31. It is USB connection only. I am able to Log and Transfer clips, but like to log and import to FCP 7 as I shoot, so Log and Capture. Any ideas on the settings, or if this is even possible? Thx

You cannot live capture with that camera...this won't work over USB.

Canon Vixia HF R52 camcorder/blu ray recorder/direct connection?

I just bought a Canon Vixia HF R52 camcorder and would like to connect it directly to a blu ray/DVD recorder to burn discs without using a computer. In the Manual, Canon says it is possible and even sent me an email stating "The camcorder is compatible with any blu ray disc recorder that supports AVCHD version 2.0" Unfortunately, Best Buy Geek Squad is clueless and Canon ABSOLUTELY REFUSES to recommend/suggest what brand/model recorder I need. (I had a Panasonic camcorder that finally died on me and Panasonic had its own DVD burner for it.) Any help out there? Anyone burning discs directly from your Canon camcorder? THANKS!

Canon VIXIA HV40 HDV Camcorder question

I'm considerring purchasing the Canon VIXIA HV40 HDV Camcorder. Has or does anyone used this Camcorder? and or do you know if it is compatible with FCE 4.0.1.?
Also is the VIXIA the US model equivalent to the LEGRIA in the UK? I can't seem to find the VIXIA on UK websites

I have the Canon HV20 which is excellent and compatible.
The HV30 was virtually identical so I should imagine the HV40 is also pretty similar.

This problem is not unheard of when upgrading from Snow Leopard. It is usually solved by completely deleting the existing printer in System Preferences > Print & Scan, and adding it again.

Does the new command 2 binary format work with Apple Push Notification Service? I receive an invalid response status code of 128.

Does the new command 2 binary format work with Apple Push Notification Service? I am sending 2 messages with the same payload to 2 different devices. None of the messages display on either of the devices. It seems that at least 3 should have been displayed. For my first device, I received a response with an invalid status code of 128 and the message identifier is 2 indicating that the first message was OK. However no message was displayed on the phone. For the second device, I did not receive any error response, but no message was displayed on the device.
Does ANS perform any validation on the message identifier? The Local and Push Notification Programmin Guide says the message identifier is:
An arbitrary, opaque value that identifies this notification. This identifier is used for reporting errors to your server.
I know that the device tokens are valid because the same tokens work when I use the legacy basic or enhanced formats. The phones display the messages correctly when I send to ANS using the old ANS message format.

Item id should be followed by item length. But item length is obviously greater than 32 because device token's length is 32. Can you please explain why 0 32 were used? and do you have any insight on item id meaning ?

Windows 7 - what version works with CS4

I currently have a laptop with Vista home basic - I upgraded to CS4 last year and it doesn't work with home basic.
Anyone have an idea what versions of windows 7 will work with CS4 before I order it?

yes but I refused to spend anymore money on an OS I hated from day one.
I use these at work all day long - but it will be nice to have them at home again.
I never had a problem before with the basic OS not working with a program - and if so , a patch was usually made
I bought my laptop a year before CS4 came out - I didn't want all the bells and whistles that Vista had - hence why I went with home basic.

Does anyone have experience with using a Canon Vixia HF M52 Camcorder with Final Cut Express?

I'm looking to purchase a new camcorder that is compatible with my Mac OS X (10.6.8) that will work well with Final Cut Express 4.0.1 I have downloaded the camcorder support info from Final Cut Express that list many capital camcorders. I've used Sony tape based camcorders in the past. I'm looking for High Definition. I can stick with a tape based camcorder, but thought I would look at the Canon Vixia HF M52 as an alternative, which is listed as compatible. I would like to download directly from the camera to FCE. I film in the wilderness, like having an optical zoom of 20 or greater (yes, I use a small tripod). Does anyone have experience with the Canon Vixia? And if not, but you really like another camcorder that you can recommend, what is it?

The Vixia HF M52 is an AVCHD camcorder and should work perfectly fine with Final Cut Express 4 (4.0.1).
The published "camcorder support list" has never been up to date and I would not take it to be a definitive list of compatible camcorders.
One note, however, the Vixia HF M52 supports a number of different shooting modes. I suggest sticking with the AVCHD 1920 x 1080i / 60 fps mode for use with FCE. FCE does not support progressive modes except in 720p25/30 (which the M52 does not seem to shoot anyway); nor does FCE support any 24 fps modes.

That is correct. MPEG-2 video needs to go through a lengthy and lossy conversion process in order to be imported and edited in iMovie. You'll be better off getting a MiniDV camcorder - it works natively with iMovie and the video quality is better as well.
